Nah, the second big business got involved gaming was dead. Of course it was always a for profit business but when the industry was smaller there was more scope for risks in terms of what was made. People were able to pitch odd ball or passion projects based on what they thought were cool. Now every game is scoped and hollowed out to have mass market appeal with tons of microtransactions and DLC to ensure maximum ROI. There was a small period where we hoped the indie market would form the backbone of what was the AA industry in the old days but that became swamped with too many options or went on to long term patreons with no incentive to release.
That you can do on your own? Not really. But if a large portion of gamers decided to boycott companies with shitty employees it could change. This won't happen since most people are moronic.
AAA gaming needs to go back to being really cheap. Sub-50 man studios, budgets of less than a million dollars. Nothing good will ever be made again while games take 500 million and 8 years to develop.

Not always. I went to visit a guy once at his apartment and it was basically two rooms, bathroom + kitchen/bedroom/lounge combined, which was collectively smaller than my bedroom alone was.
He was from another country and was being put up in the apartment by his employer. Apparently the entire floor of the apartment building was employees for that company. It could have been worse. At least they had their own bathrooms instead of a communal one. There are places that call themselves "apartment buildings" but they really just dormitories.

Ken's company was doing fine for years. He was making money developing business support software and selling it. Basically, Roberta Williams did nothing for years and then when she tried to do something she nearly killed the company but then they brought in men who did what she tried to do except properly now and it saved the company. Roberta Williams is a hack fraud that took credit for the work of men and nothing more.

Nope. All that happened is that the video game industry finally became like the movie industry.
No because the simple truth is, the nerdy dudes who were making games back in the 90's and 00's were thirsty and lonely and didn't have the sense and willpower to gatekeep the industry from women. It had the same effect as a guy friend group letting someone's girlfriend come hang out. Been collapsing ever since.
Nah, the second big business got involved gaming was dead. Of course it was always a for profit business but when the industry was smaller there was more scope for risks in terms of what was made. People were able to pitch odd ball or passion projects based on what they thought were cool. Now every game is scoped and hollowed out to have mass market appeal with tons of microtransactions and DLC to ensure maximum ROI. There was a small period where we hoped the indie market would form the backbone of what was the AA industry in the old days but that became swamped with too many options or went on to long term patreons with no incentive to release.
That you can do on your own? Not really. But if a large portion of gamers decided to boycott companies with shitty employees it could change. This won't happen since most people are moronic.

He was from another country and was being put up in the apartment by his employer. Apparently the entire floor of the apartment building was employees for that company. It could have been worse. At least they had their own bathrooms instead of a communal one. There are places that call themselves "apartment buildings" but they really just dormitories.

The company that had been doing fine for years was now on the verge of bankruptcy. As a last ditch effort Ken brought some men in to make other adventure games on the engine he developed for King's Quest. Those games, unlike King's Quest, were very successful. They saved the company. Basically, Roberta Williams did nothing for years and then when she tried to do something she nearly killed the company but then they brought in men who did what she tried to do except properly now and it saved the company. Roberta Williams is a hack fraud that took credit for the work of men and nothing more.
