>FF14 IS MERELY HELD DOWN BY ITS MMO STRUCTURE BECAUSE IF IT WERE A SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE IT WOULD BE A 10/10 KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
>FFXVI, a literal single player experience made by the same team, pretty much borrowing all the worst aspects of XIV comes out and is nothing but a homogenized, boring, safe and formulaic game sold entirely by names of people involved

XVI is great, best FF game since IX.
Better than IX.
VI > XVI > IV
the PS1 games are carried by aesthetics. Unbearably slow to play, ATB should have never left the SNES era.
fpbp
It started slow, but ended up an objective 8.5/10. Really good game and best since X. They really could stand to get back to them based 3-homies-in-a-row though.
Worst FF ever.
Best ever! Now we've cancelled out
>XVI is great, best FF game since IX.
I see you are a man of culture as well
makes senee ixgays think this considering ix's gameplay is garbage too
It's only held down by the ps5

What don't you agree with?
I don't think XIV deserves F tier with X-2, but otherwise decent list. I'd probably bump it to C
Most secondary list I've ever seen, please stop trying so hard to fit in
I'm an 08 newbie
>8 bad
>2 isn't even listed
I get filtered by literally any challenge: the list. No wonder you like mash X to win 16
An actually sane list for once, bravo
>move XI to B
>move XIII and XV to C
Other than that, I agree
Respectable, but VIIR is A at best.
> X on S Tier
pleb
Move 14 to B tier
10 down to B tier
6 up to S tier
7R down to B tier
And you've got a pretty decent list.
>15 objectively lower
BARRY ARE YOU OLAY, BARRY ARE YOU OKAY, ARE YOU OKAY BARRY
Nice to see an FFVII appreciator who appreciates FFVIIR. there are so many morons who complain about the differences with the original when the original game still exists and is easily available to be played, really a common issue with remakes in general. FFVIIR soundtrack is just an absolute loveletter to the original
It’s funny that XIV players still won’t admit that during the “WoW exodus” as soon as players really got into XIV they turned tail and went back to WoW.
WoW has been crushing XIV in terms of player numbers and content, while XIV is struggling with their shit content drought and lackluster expansion.
NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
I REFUSE TO AC-ACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Very based. He’s also the one that said:
“Wow’s worst day is still better than XIV’s best day”
This is the reality. XIV will never reach WOW heights.
He cried on stream, deleted every character, and went on a 6 month spree of shit talking everything about the game. Then Dragonflight comes out and suddenly he has every character back and loves the game
You can tell Asmon just takes Yoshi-P's bribes and money, and then refuses to give a shit about the game.
Just like how he played FF16 for a few days then went back to Diablo. This toothless Black person is literally married to Blizzard games.
Or how he pretended to wanting to play the MSQ of FF14 and then dropped it and abandoned his main for an entire year.
> Square Enix paid $500K for these idiots to promote FF16 playing dressup doll
> They all show up in FF7 cosplays
the world would be a better place if every streamer just disappeared overnight
bunch of uncharismatic morons who are famous for no reason
ye these morons are getting paid like movie stars and I bet not a single one of the morons watching that stream bought a copy of FF16.
So that's $500K down the drain in SE's western marketing budget, for nothing
they deserve it, using a bunch of ugly randoms who don't even play vidya to advertise vidya
This is how game companies spend 100s of millions on marketing, moronic shit like this. $500K for this streamer org, $500K for that influencer, another $2 mil for this 'real celeb'. It's all so fricking tiresome. Just make a GOOD FRICKING VIDEOGAME and it sells itself. Dark Souls and Demon's Souls sold themselves on word of mouth and zero shillery going on.
>NOOO YOU GOTTA PROMOTE THE THING I LIKE NOOOOO
moron
I predicted Ruby Sea would filter his ass, and I was right.
Asmon fears the XIV playerbase
Endwalker is the worst expansion XIV has ever had and it still has better player retention than troonyflight.
WoW isn't crushing anything. Literal dead game that I don't even hear mentioned anymore.
It's gone. It's dead.
WoW is on pace to burn through 3 entire expansions in the space of only 2 years because the game has zero staying power.
Every person I've spoken to who has actually played the game (so, no-one on Ganker) says it's a very good game.
It's biggest flaw is that it's on a shit console called the PS5.
And yet it won GOTY
>GOTY
what the frick is this thread lol
what is your point?
FF14 is the most popular MMO in the world and FF16 is selling like hot cakes
cry in your sleep
It's a Blizzdrone cope thread
>selling like hot cakes
Hot cakes are about the only thing that can be recouped with those kind of sales numbers
are you actually delusional? xvi is not selling like hot cakes at all
>
the internet has made you stupid
>Dude...every 2 hours....there's like...oh my god dude...like...oh my god...everyone that plays it is saying that...every 2 hours...there's a BOSS FIGHT...but here's the catch...IT FEELS LIKE A FINAL BOSS....every 2 hours imagine that!!....you press like...buttons to attack and dodge and shit....oh my god...
Oh i remember the backlash that this video got lol
>FF14 IS MERELY HELD DOWN
Said nobody ever
no xvi proves they don't know how to make a good rpg nor a good action game
You just know this game is absolute kino due to how much distilled seethe is generates
i only ever see xiv/xvi fans seething that people think the game at best is just okay.
It's the worst FF in history by a fricking mile.
What was it about FF16 that triggered the Ganker hivemind?
don't know? you tell me discord sister you keep shilling the game here and making post about how upset you are about people not really liking the game all that much.
>don't know? you tell me why I keep making up stuff
>why is a game that I completely hate liked by other people?
Shew those are some red asses. They probably make a cream for that.
You can like whatever the frick you want but if you're making an action game called JRPG16 don't ask why it's hated
Good post ngl
>why is a game that completely subverts everything that one of the most popular Ganker franchises stands for is disliked?
We'll never know
sisters...how do we respond?
ff16 is dead on arrival
Nobody has ever EVER said that about XIV. It's a 10/10 in its own right. MMO or not
>watching 2 main characters having non voiced dialogue while using in game emotes
>MY BLOODY WANKA, THE SEVEN STAAS CLEANED ME BUM OUT'ARUM
>sad music playing
This is what peak story telling is to the average xiv brainlet
Every Final Fantasy before X didn't have voice acting.
Are those bad games suddenly?
homie the dialogue in XIV is fricking TERRIBLE, even when its voiced
Alright. I hope you play it someday, anon.
Spend less time posting on Ganker, too.
nah it's miles better than 16 imo
Ive never played FF14, but other than that and XI, I've played every other main FF game. I also have 102 hours in XVI, just finished NG+ yesterday. I loved it, its in 5th place of my tier list
Lalafell characters carried 14.
Final Fantasy ended at X-2.
I have not cared about FF since V and XVI is fricking excellent
Shit game overall. Fails as an action game or FF. Fails as a JRPG in general. Crap ending.
nah dood the ending was so deep
>t.journo opinion
Thanks for buying, though
>only journalists thought the ending was bad and nobody else
You're right, the opinions of moronic anonymous shitposters should viewed as even less than that of a journalist.
>giving an opinion is shitposting
okay fanboy
>The game is shit
>No, i will not elaborate
It's not an opinion, if all it amounts to is shitting your pants.
>Ad hominem
How original.
if i elaborate you'll just cry harder
he bought a PS5 for the game so it's flawless
You'd already done so, if you could.
I don't have a PS5.
here I'll elaborate
>combat is just doing your rotations waiting for abilities to come off cooldown like an mmo
>nothing was a challenge and I never got a game over screen
>there is no exploration and any areas you find are dead ends just there for future sidequests where you'll fight something
>environments are the blandest of any FF to ever exist thus far
>the so called dungeons the game has are mmo hallways with trash mobs miniboss and boss identical to FFXIV
>story is just an ivalice clone where politics just exist to show an ancient evil was in control the whole time
>pacing is an absolute fricking mess and rubbed me the wrong way the moment you finish the prologue or start after the demo as you find jill and torgal within 10 minutes (not rushed at all)
>eikon fights offer no challenge and are noting but qte ridden visual spectacles
>barnabas was probably the only fun fight in the game
>characters are pretty generic and forgettable and the only one I liked was Uncle Byron
>Clive and Jill are beyond bland and it made me want to play as Joshua and Jote instead
>characters like benedikta and especially cid died way too soon
>Ultima is a really lame antagonist
>music is forgettable and the only theme I liked was Dion/Bahamut
>crafting is fricking useless and leaving a chunk of the system for NG+ is fricking stupid as is locking difficulty behind it
>game falls apart after cid dies early on but completely shits the bed after bahamut
>ending was unsatisfying
oh and having a slow walking segment (pic rel) during the final boss segment is fricking moronic
the game doesn't even have a final dungeon you just go straight to the boss for another QTE borefest
I hated the cooldowns so much.
i also hate how most accessories are just cooldown timers
>the game doesn't even have a final dungeon
that's soulless as hell
wtf were they thinking
nta but:
>Combat is just rotations
Untrue. Did you never parry or dodge anything? Never reacted to staggers or focused on building gauge?
>No challenge
Agree, but since it's more action game than JRPG we at least have to admit this is genre convention
>No (boring) exploration
Yeah, agree. Final Fantasy hasn't had this since 9 and they should bring it back. (Baring 15, but that should have just been open world sandbox)
>Bland environments
Dunno how you played the game with your eyes closed.
>"Dungeons"
I can't think of a single area I'd call a "dungeon". Like any Final Fantasy game there are segments that go through, like, a cave, but they've always been linear in the series. None of my experience with 16 felt like a copy paste from 14 though. Not sure what you're referring to here.
>Story is an Ivalice clone
Replay any Ivalice game, please, to refresh your memory.
>Narrative pacing is a mess
Agree mostly. Beginning felt very jagged and I didn't get invested in the characters till legit halfway through the game. The core cast ends up being strong as frick though.
>Eikon fights are visual spectacle
Agree. These were much more about aesthetic / Rule of Cool than they were mechanical challenge. Weird choice given that Human Combat is about mechanical mastery.
>Barnabas only fun fight
Hyperbole, but I agree it was a fun fight.
>Forgettable characters, uncle is the best one
No accounting for taste I guess.
>Clive and Jill bland
Gotta stop skipping cutscenes, even if there are way too many of them
>Ultima is lame
Not the strongest antagonist for sure, but probably B tier for the series
>music forgettable
Don't play the game on mute
>Crafting is useless
Yeah crafting sucked and was not done well.. totally agree
>Game gets worse as it goes on
Literally the opposite of reality. The game starts slow and discordant, but really comes together as the cast is reduced via deaths to a smaller handful. Clive and Joshua's relationship absolutely S Tier for the series.
>Dunno how you played the game with your eyes closed
Are you fricking kidding me?
The entire game is bland as frick.
seriously it's just green or brown
all architecture is generic as frick
the last continent is just grey/gray
>mostly just lazy deflection
not surprising
parrying becomes useless when you get the last 3 eikons and dodging doesn't change anything about the combat being a cooldown borefest
>Don't play the game on mute
typical soken dickrider
>Bland environments
>Dunno how you played the game with your eyes closed.
What are some areas that stood out for you. Aside from the Fallen ruins, the white area you fight the Bombs in for that one quest, and outer space, no place ever stood out to me
so you're defending a game you've never played?
you're a moronic homosexual
>the ending is bad
Subjective opinion, at least the combat complains are a little more fleshed out, but at least play the game on hard mode before going thay route. In any case, thanks for buying
>Subjective opinion
one that clearly upsets you
>"ending is bad"
>no analysis from a narrative point of view, just how they felt about an ending they probably dont understand
will never understand you dumbass children who write off an opinion because it's subjective
literally all opinions are subjective you cro-magnon reject
all opinions are subjective you stupid yoshitpiss troony
this is the dumbest fricking deflection
>Thanks for buying
yes thanks for adding to the meager 3M ""sales"".
based
ff16 trannies btfo
ff16 has the worst ending in the franchise
can't remember the last time I saw an FF thread where the OP wasn't sperging out about 14 or 16
IX threads yesterday and today I think, because of the anniversary
>is nothing but a homogenized, boring, safe and formulaic game
Do you really feel that lying helps you prove any sort of point?
It's true. I can forgive mmo padding in FF14 but not in a mainline single player FF. Like imagine if it did the same shit to FFX, you'd be stuck in besaid gathering quests fruits and logs before setting out.
The dialogue is too awkward too. Only serviceable merit to this game is its visuals, gameplay (only clive idc), and the no universe tie in like 7 and 15 did.
10 is kind of full of shitty side quests but they are optional
The quest markers were pretty gay. At least the game on its own was pretty fantastic though. Top tier narrative, slow burn A-tier core cast, and S tier combat.
Right, in X there are no sidequests at all brcause the whole “world” is a straight line from besaid to zanarkand
Im playing XVI, and liking it, but Im not blown away like I hoped to be. Combat fundamentals, music, story, presentation are all good.
The ratio of gameplay to cut scene is less so. I feel like I’m doing all I can exploring each zone that opens up because I know I’ll be kidnapped into another 15 minutes minimum of story scene any time I go where Im supposed to go. But that doesn’t feel worth it because every treasure chest off the beaten path just contains more of the same crafting materials I’m already overstocked on.
As I said, combat fundamentals are good, but the encounter design is lacking. Any large enemies you actually have to dodge are usually fun to fight, but groups of small enemies are a bore. You just run in and do your best combo over and over mindlessly. No thoughtful puzzle encounter design like FF4 had. Could use more of things like easy to kill enemies that hit super hard mixed in, enemies that explode if hit with a fire attack, so you have to pull them out with Garuda and kill them separate, or use a fire attack to knock them away into an enemy cluster, or enemies that counter physical or magical. There’s nothing like that. Nothing that ever makes you have to do anything but the same combo you’ve always been doing.
Boss fights are great. I’ve enjoyed every one, especially the Eikon ones. Sidequests have interesting lore sometimes, but most of them are XIV style, “Go talk to NPC’s here and there, interact with the four sparkles, and if you’re lucky, kill 2 wolves or crabs.” Nothing interesting so far, like a timed battle, or jumping puzzle, or kill one enemy without killing others, or do a fight without getting hit, or dont use Phoenix any while fighting these enemies - again, nothing to break up monotony or add to gameplay.
I’m not bored - the basic gameplay is decent, and as I said, the story and music is great. But encounter and sidequest design are keeping it from being a great game for me. Hope that changes.
This is a based post, and if I weren't on my phone taking a shit I'd go into why.
I agree with everything you said, and will add:
>Gear upgrade pacing was not great
>Lack of fun / interesting effects on weapons or accessories hurts the game
>Cast starts out too large to give a shit about anyone, but once people die off and it gets slimmed down, the core cast is incredibly likable.
>Nothing interesting so far, like a timed battle, or jumping puzzle, or kill one enemy without killing others, or do a fight without getting hit, or dont use Phoenix any while fighting these enemies - again, nothing to break up monotony or add to gameplay.
Triala become available at certain point of the game, you have to find the cronolith in the world, the first one is pretty much in your face, you have to play only with phoenix eikon and 2 pre set phoenix skills, and beat 3 waves of enemies per stage (3 stages + boss, each stage changes the available), theres a timer that wont reset and you have to do combos and other moves to add time (they'll give you a list of values before starting). Thats fun. I also dont know at what part of the game you are, but "normal" encounters get better in NG+, otherwise I can agree with everything you said. Still, the highs of the game (eikon battles, music and some cutscenes/story parts) stuck with me days after finishing the game
>people think this is a good ending
you are a homosexual for posting this unspoilered but at least it's not a big spoiler via thumbnail
Explain how its bad. If anything the ambiguity of Clive death/survival is what bothers me the most
>inb4 all the hints he survived
I know that, I just thibk they should've commited more to it. But the book is coherent with the whole game, the first seconds is literally the narration of the story
nothing is good about it
It's just not satisfying, and feels rushed.
What part? Clive on the beach and Jill looking the sunrise? Yeah, it could've been better
The book? I dont see how
>What part?
the whole thing
Is asmongo really dropping the game? when was the last time he streamed it?
i liked it
>people bought PS5s to play this shit
That's why people are getting so defensive.
After all that talk of not breaking promises and promising Jill that he would always come back for her, it feels like a stab in the gut from the writers to have Clive not be able to keep that last promise and have Jill just be miserable for the rest of her life. She literally told Clive that he was the half that makes her whole. The ending is hopeful for the world in general but it is hopeless for these two characters I’ve grown to care about.
It's a bad ending, and it's not surprise most reviewers and the entirety of Japan hates it.
>it's not surprise
surprising*
>After all that talk of not breaking promises and promising Jill that he would always come back for her, it feels like a stab in the gut from the writers to have Clive not be able to keep that last promise and have Jill just be miserable for the rest of her life. She literally told Clive that he was the half that makes her whole. The ending is hopeful for the world in general but it is hopeless for these two characters I’ve grown to care about
Except the sunrise symbolism and Jill's reaction are all about hope
This is what FF16 should've been.
Shit I got chills watching that while thinking of a more fleshed out UI with Clive, Torgal, Jill, Joshua and Dion against Barnabas. I miss turn based so much FF bros.
I've seen XIV players start hating on it specifically because XVI embodies some of the worst parts of XIV for no real reason at all and it's magnifying the impact of the issue when there's no nightclubs or 4 expansions worth of content to go through to distract from how bad some of these things are.
7.0 better have some big overhauls, they've already hyped it up to be some world changing event and they better fricking deliver.
I hate Duty Support for desouling every single MSQ dungeon so that NPC's can clear it
Why aren't you moronic nigggers playing WoW?
The second to last MSQ, when you fight Ultima alongside Joshua and Torgal, with that music and in FF mode has become my favorite vidya moment of the year
hi barry
barry hi
This game sounds like fricking Days-era Nomura wrote it in the eyes of its fans my fricking God.
>potential Nomura influence on 16
>inb4 this is spun into yet another Versus 13 comparison
People been saying 16 has a lot of Versus DNA. Personally I dont see the obsession with versus: sure it was a nice idea, but people act as if we actually know what the non-released full game was, on paper everything sounds nice but ot could've been a disaster as well
It's this weird insistence on the notion that 'edgy and sociopolitically relevant (somehow) = automatic good'. That's at least the argument Stellagay made in his writeups and oddly something Nomura and Yoshi-P thought would set their games apart in development interviews (streets say Nomura wanted to discuss terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and child soldiers). Yoshi-P even said 16 is about oil and the climate crisis and thought that commentary would help make 16 gain an edge over the past few games. This guy
even describes it in fewer words than I could, because Versus and 16 take themselves very seriously.
>edgy and sociopolitically relevant (somehow) = automatic good
Have we finally grown out of this yet?
>'edgy and sociopolitically relevant (somehow) = automatic good'. That's at least the argument Stellagay made in his writeups
So that's why he likes the Ivalice games so much.
His favorite mangaka is Clamp and thinks Urobuchi and Toshiki Inoue are good at writing screenplays for Japanese kids shows. If it (even the kids shows) doesn't push you over the edge with gore, trauma wank and depression porn he won't go anywhere near it.
Urobutcher wrote a kids show? The frick happened?
Can I ask who Urobuchi/Urobutcher and Toshiki Inoue are? I don't know what you mean.
>Days-era Nomura
We got it again and it's called Stranger of Paradise.
You know he just threw this shit together without playing any of them kek
Especially V. He thought Gilgamesh was entirely serious a la XV's Gilgamesh.
FFXIV is a fantastic MMO so your moronic premise fails from the very start.
Are you having a stroke?
Its barry just mad that no one cares about 15 anymore or its shitty Not-Audi that tbe protagonist drives.
>talking shit about the BMW
Hey, it's a good mount, I think it's still the only four seater that didn't require savage clears or real money.
>BMW
its literally based an an Audi R8 but with 4 doors
Do you have the picture with gothic maid
Shiva? That was apparently Versus art
Yeah I can see it, didn't know that.
what i wonder is why the prince is driving in the worst of the German brands? was it some sort of rich-person punishment from the King?
Because Tabata likes Audi
FF16 takes itself way too seriously. Should've focused on making a fun game instead of trying to hard to be "mature".
>to
so*
im going to sleep
FF16's story issue is that it should have been longer. The story feels like 5 different MMO expansions shoved into one 30 hour story
>base game: up to cid's death
>second expansion: up to Kupka first boss battle
>third expansion: up to Bahamit fight
>fourth expansion; up to Odin fight
>last expansion: up to Ultima final fight
if FF16 were longer they could have spent the time to flesh things out more and build on the lore, but instead you kinda just fly by everything with the main villain"s motivation being exposition at the second to last mission. Also Ultima was an attempt to copy Emet from FXIV but without any of the depth that made Emet's actions seem understandable
pretty sure ultima was a copy of ultima from tactics you moron
i didnt play tactics, did ultima in that game also had a "we created you to save ourselves and now your purpose is fulfilled" story as well? because Emet from XIV has that same story
Sort of? Tactics Ultima is literally looking for a vessel iirc
The Uncle is the only one in the story i truly cared about and he had the most character. and im glad he didn't get killed off for shock value
wow one scene of byron eating quickly definitely means the game doesn't take itself too seriously
>XIVgays hasn't played anything else
shocking. ultima in tactics wants a vessel like myhos.
Its an example, play the game before posting your "opinion"
literally posted a screenshot i took of the game you fricktard
having gav say frick every time he's on screen and byron being a bumblling fool doesn't mean the game as a whole doesn't take itself too seriously
people soiface over this but it makes me want to play a better FF where you can do this in general combat
We grow weary of this debate
Surrender to us our vessel and repent
