It really does feel like all the trappings of XIV somehow made it into this singleplayer game. Especially the lifeless and soulless environment design. FFXIV is a terrible MMO with meh gameplay thats elevated by its story, so if the story isn't great in 16 what's the reason to play? The action combat of DMC is better, the exploration of older FFs is better. Even one without a world map like FFXII has better zone design.
I really don't see the hype for XIV as someone who played the whole of the free trial. It's just typical Final Fantasy shit mixed in with collecting 10 rabbit asses.
Realm reborn falls for a bit of those but they improved and removed a lot of the bad quests. Though a FFXIV single player would honestly be a great idea. A spinoff taking place in Eorzea would be really cool.
