Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 to get a happy ending.
Kitase has been pushing for a happy ending since the project started and it looks like hes getting his way. What do you want in your happy ending? Will the plot points from Rebirth get resolved the way they should?

Zack and Aerith either dead or fricked off to their own world where everyone else in the cast is dead
Sephiroth accepts his death/humanity instead of creating Jenova cancer

With the plot of Remake these are the only two things I care to see

Reminder that Remake Sephiroth and Rebirth Sephiroth are different

Remake Sephiroth uses "ore" in Japanese like before he went crazy showing he's a good guy, Rebirth Sephiroth uses "watashi" same as the usual evil Sephiroth

I really want these games to deliver a fully sentient, fully alive, full power Jenova fight on par with something like Lavos mixed with Ultimecia. Make it non canon if they must. You could even redeem sephy via it with him as an ally. If they are doing fanfic shit anyway, its what i want to see the most.

i hope they pull a devil may cry 3
        >villain joins good guys to kill the other villain
        >then afterwards the villain fights the good guys again

that way you can have the kino gameplay moment of playing as full power sephiroth and still have the canon showdown between cloud and sephiroth afterwards

      >Nojima was against the idea of the game ending there for some time, wanting the game to end with Tifa falling into the mako reactor in Gongaga, saying that he did not like the idea of using Aerith’s fate as a hook, thinking it would be better to use Tifa in such a way instead.

This should confrim that Aerith absolutely lives then, from the writer himself. If Rebirth ended at the reactor, then part 3 would start with Aerith alive and require all of the dating stuff to be in place, since the GS date didn't happen yet. Then the FC stuff would happen within 10 hours into the story, which seems certain they wouldn't kill Aerith off for good.

I don't understand this part. How did Cloud survive then? I get Aerith because of all the wacky shit going on with her but there's nothing special about Cloud in that particular instance. If Cloud can just be in a coma then why not Barret or Tifa?

        Anonymous

I don't know how you missed it, but Cloud was never in Midgar. He had been dragged by Zack all the while. The implication is that the Avalanche party was acting on their own and helped Aerith and Red on their own in that timeline and they failed and died.

          Anonymous

But Elmyra and Marlene know about Cloud, and everything from Remake. I think its more likely that Cloud was indeed there, he just disappeared from his own world. Also Cloud was merc hired by Avalanche, hes not really a member.

            Anonymous

Elmyra didn't know him. Marlene and Biggs do. Cloud is associated with Avalanche and appeared on their wanted posters in beagleverse. And the most obvious one is that Zack had been dragging Cloud for a year from Nibelheim to Midgar before that point. Cloud's still wearing the SOLDIER outfit from when he woke up in Nibelheim.

              >Elmyra didn't know Cloud Marlene and Biggs do.
Yes. Was Marlene also transported to Zack's timeline, or is she somehow a gifted entity, that has a connection to the lifestream? The latter was hinted at, because she was clearly able to describe Sephiroth and can also predict future events.

Nothing about Marlene makes any sense. Just turning her into magical psychic child because "little girl = magic." They don't even seem like they're planning to explain it. They're just using her as little miss exposition.

                >t. didn't play remake
Aerith, while still in "lifestream connection mode" touched Marlene and gave her glimpses into the lifestream/future in remake during the plate falling, just as she did with red (who has the same shit). The "Aerith" Cloud goes on a date with around sector 5 slums can roughly be considered "lifestream Aerith" or "dream Aerith" or some shit - the one that the main, living Aerith in rebirth was connected to and borrowed memories from. In the lifestream time isn't linear and both lifestream versions of Aerith and Sephiroth clearly have some timefrickery bullshit from post-AC. The Marlenes are connected through Aerith and have vague "glimpses" of the other world through that bullshit. Aerith describes how her memories of the future went away but were never like "full" memories in rebirth.
                Play the fricking games.

That's the thing. We all did play the games. But even if that's all true, the way it's conveyed to the player is obtuse and messy as shit. Like trying to tell someone 2+2 =4 but instead of just typing that you go:

                >Conjoining one with another and then convalescing with thrice sans a single doth equivocate to a digit amounting that is greater than the trinity but less than the number representing God's grace in the Old Testament.

I have a lot of problems with the way death is handled in FF7. Because the idea is that everyone who dies passes into the Lifestream. Their lives and their memories join the collective and then it's redistributed into new life who will then live and gain new experiences and then add those to the Lifestream. All life is the same, we all return to the earth, because in the end it's the planet that matters not any individual. So why the frick, after years, has Aerith not diffused into the Lifestream yet? Why is she still her own person after being dead? Okay maybe some kind of unexplained Cetra magic keeps her around longer. Pretty sure Ifalna wishes she thought of that but fine. But then why the frick is Zack still around? He's just a guy right? Not a Cetra or an alien? Why does he get a separate universe dedicated to him specifically? What makes Zack so special other than he fricked Aerith? Marketing?

                >So why the frick, after years, has Aerith not diffused into the Lifestream yet? Why is she still her own person after being dead?
Lifestream white basically reveals it as almost being optional for cetra. They can decide when they return to the lifestream. She decides not to because of Sephiroth. But remake made everything even more muddy with Zack living in a multiverse and even fricking Wedge being able to communicate to Barret.

    >Aerith silently mouths “yokatta ne” (“I’m glad for you”) to Tifa after she returns after falling into the mako reactor in Gongaga is brought up by the interviewer, who asks about the intentions behind this. Nojima says that he had always wanted to have a character just mouthing words without saying them, and proposed such scenes in many previous games, but they had always ended up subtitled because people might think it is a bug that characters’ mouths are moving even though nothing is being said, and he finally got it to happen for real in Rebirth. Toriyama also adds that there are other scenes with dialogue just being mouthed and not said.

Nomura has the final say, and in the ultimatum, he still wants it to have the somber ending that FF7 had. I don't think they revive Aerith. It will mostly be Zack and Aerith in the light, smiling at Cloud, who goes on to be with Tifa like in Advent Children. If we're going full Nomura that KH2 shit is what will happened just replace them with Zack/Aerith & Cloud/Tifa

Red fakes his voice for the first half of the game. He tries to sound mature and older, when he really has the kid voice that he reveals to everyone later on. The scenes with Aerith set up this reveal, because Red is able to Aerith in private using his real voice.

But doesn't Red himself walk in and ask who she was talking to? From what I remember she's having a conversation in her room, Red walks in and asks who she was with or something like that, and she then pulls out the newly clear white materia and asks what color it is. What was the deal with that mysterious conversation?

                There are two scenes.
One in Junon where its Cloud who hears Red/Nanaki's real voice from outside the room, and when he enters he asks who that was. Red and Aerith play it off like they don't know.
The second scene is in CDS when Aerith is showering. We don't see Red speaking at this time because the camera is focused on Aerith showering. When Aerith drys off and gets changed the camera shifts over to Red and he changes his voice back. Aerith and Red don't question the voice.

However, Kitase has recently passed him a request to do something extremely important that was not in the original game, and he personally thinks it will be something very difficult to do. He is currently polishing the idea, and says that if pulled off right will be something that the fans will definitely be happy about, and so he is thinking about how to make it sound convincing.

Since there are timelines maybe choice can change the outcomes and get different endings, like one where Aerith lives. But that would be too much work for a game they are planning on releasing in 3 years.

      https://www.frontlinejp.net/2024/04/17/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth-post-release-interview-part-1/

      All they said was
      >That same team is now even more experienced and will be continuing on to work on the third game, and the story is already completed, and so he thinks it will take a relatively short time in terms of how big the game will be for it to be completed.

        >Kitase notes that Remake was released in 2020 and Rebirth in 2024, and that one year was spent on Intergrade meaning that Rebirth actually took three years to develop: Being able to develop such a huge title in just three years was because they had the same team as Remake, with know-how and communication channels fully matured. That same team is now even more experienced and will be continuing on to work on the third game, and the story is already completed, and so he thinks it will take a relatively short time in terms of how big the game will be for it to be completed.

That is the one thing i wanted from these "Remakes" back before we knew the nonsense they were adding. I really hate games that have important story elements in non game medium you are expected to care about. The gameplay would have worked fine for adaptation AC into an actual epilogue end.

Aerith still will always sacrifice herself if she needs to because that's the character she is, the point is more about how she will always try to escape this fate if she can. And the fact this is a main plot element in this story tells a lot.

The point is how she wants to, but is always unable because she has other priorities, like the planet and helping cloud. That's why noura said she WANTS TO, and it mixes with the theme introduced in rebirth. Iti s not just a red herring.

Wrong because the context of her actions is absolutely different in this trilogy. She's definitely going to survive. The issue is what conditions are going to come with that. It's not necessarily a guarantee of a 100% happy ending. In fact, it kind of hints at a bittersweet one that's better but still hurts like a b***h.

            Anonymous

I think Aerith and Zack will be alive but forced to occupy a parallel universe because of some frickery that prevents them from staying in beagle. So there's still going to be a sad goodbye but now they're at least able to have a future. The whole Advent Children linking up angle would work well with this since it would just retcon Aerith's scenes in that movie as being the alternate universe as opposed to the lifestream and still justify Cloud feeling guilty because she's basically in multiverse jail.

              Anonymous

No because the whole loveless shit is based on aerith and cloud as hamaguchi said it himself. So the "promise(not a promise)" of reunion revolve around Cloud and Aerith. If the story of loveless in rebirth was based on zack i would agree with you, but the slave who becomes hero is clearly cloud.

                Anonymous

Yeah the whole puppet talk. Alphred is Cloud 100%. Which is crazy because i saw someone today say he is Zack. When it makes no sense, only if you project the cc's version of loveless into this one.
But even if you do, Alphred at the start is the prisoner. He goes through a hero's journey.

                Anonymous

The complication is that Cloud is still partially under the Zack delusion so it's ambiguous. You could argue either point and there's enough context to defend each one.

                Anonymous

Not really because line for line the story is clearly about Cloud. There isnt any overlap with the role Zack had as a hero in CC. The are representing different characters. We are just seeing a follow up of the story after the hero dies from the POV of the prisoner.

That's the mistake people are having when they see this version of loveless. They see the prisoner becoming a hero(just like cloud in og ff7) and think it is about cc's chapters of loveless, which tell a complete different story of the three friends.

                Anonymous

Even the nature of these stories are different.
In cc it was a tragic story about the three friends. In Remake it is a love story between the prisoner and rosa.
When i noticed that the hero in this version of loveless was actually the prisoner was when i went WAIT

                Anonymous

Yeah people see Zack being the hero in cc, but the point is how he gets cooked, then we follow the story of Cloud(prisoner)'s pov
And then the story in rebirth's loveless is just FF7 in general, a hero's journey.
But it gets interesting closer to the end because it infers some future developments like Aerith summoning a phoenix and the whole final dialogue.

I get the impression that Zack died and then manifested in the same place alive after Cloud broke fate. So however many days transpired between Zack's death and the end of Remake, that's how long Zack was inactive because he was dead. And maybe to him it feels like the fight with the Shinra guards just took place because he just phased into existence with those memories?

The truth is that people are seeing these timelines in the wrong way, that's why they keep thinking about 2 buster swords and other shit.
But nojima itself talked how he is basing the worlds in the theory of collective subconscious.
In this case each individual persception can create your own world, which makes sense if you consider how zack's world doesnt fit with the overall flow of events.

The jannies were a barrier preventing these individual wills from creating new worlds, but when they died everything was derailed and a frickton of worlds were born.

Well we don't really know whether the new universes have anything akin to a history. They may just appear at the moment of their creation fully populated. People will have memories they carry from previous universes but it's effectively just a brand new world that pops into place.

Hes simply the Cloud from Zack's world. Zack is functioning like an ieskai protag because he died in the main world, but his mind and body transfer into another world. Somehow Cloud went with him, but I actually have a different theory. I think there can only be one Cloud in each world, so when Zack and Cloud arrived, fugitive Cloud got merged with the Cloud that Zack is carrying. I makes sense when we compared Sephiroth trying to merge dead Aerith with living Aerith.

Cloud wasn't isekai'd. Also in beagleverse Zack is dead in a grave somewhere. His body had been rotting for 2 months by then.

Well we don't really know whether the new universes have anything akin to a history. They may just appear at the moment of their creation fully populated. People will have memories they carry from previous universes but it's effectively just a brand new world that pops into place.

So where's Cloud 1? Why did Cloud 1 lose causing the death of everyone?

                Anonymous

Apply the common logic of isekais.
                >Protag gets hit by truck
                >Protag dies in origin world, and that world goes on without them
                >Protag awakens in a different world (aka the direct translation of "isekai"). Sometimes the protags have their own body, sometimes they are reincarnated.
So now apply this to Zack. He actually did die in beagleverse, just like the isekai characters that got hit by the trucks. But Zack lives on in another world as a result. You could say a second duplicate body was created for Zack, but the important detail for isekais is that heroes retain their memories.

Cloud is harder to explain because he didn't die. Mushoku Tensei is the series that orginally coined the "hero gets struck by truck" trope and its LN/WN is considered the grandfather of current Isekais. When the main character of MT got hit and killed, the character that he died protecting actually got isekai'd too, even though she didn't die. This is a very similar case with Cloud because Zack died protecting him. Its possible thats the same idea here

But you're already wrong in the first part. We clearly see that Zack in Remake's ending is from terrierverse and in Rebirth he's still in terrierverse. And they're both the young terrierverse.

Terrier didn't exist until after Fate was stopped. We see Remake's Zack make his last stand right before the Arbiter is fought, meaning he had to be beagle at first. Once the Arbiter is defeated we see the aftermath.
                What I'm suggesting happened.
                >Beagle Zack is the one who made the last stand. Right before he gots shot in the head a branch is made.
                >Beagle Zack did indeed die in the ending of CCR
                >Beagle continues throughout the events of Remake and Zack is dead.
                >Beagle Zack's consciousness is shifted over to the newly created terrierverse, and to him hes unware of his branching death in beagle.
                >Terrier is the old version of beagle that the party left behind when they went to challenge fate. Somehow when Zack shifted, he ended up months in the future to synch up with when terrier wasfirst created.

It does, because Cloud was with Zack the whole entire time. And it's the same terrierverse as in Remake's ending Zack. Not even the old terrier but the same young terrierverse.

. Zack was 100% in terrierverse.

Right but here's the thing: the next game will definitely have them reunite in some way during the course of the game. She's not going to be 100% unplayable for the duration. The issue is what happens at the actual end. They can reunite but there's no promises that it's going to be permanent. Zack's "universes split but who's to say they can't come back together again?" is sort of the same deal. It's telegraphing a future reunion but if that happens like...mid-game then it's fulfilled it's narrative obligation with no promise of what comes afterwards.

                Anonymous

The reunion that Zack talks about is refering to everyone at this point, he wants to reunite with Cloud and Aerith, it is also why Aerith guided him to Cloud with the yellow flowers.
And i would agree with you, but then we have things like this

Very interesting how this is an actual plot point now. Theories?

where the devs talk how defying your fate/promise is the main objective of aerith. So i think we can assume they do not want to give aerith the bad ending this time.

I guess it depends on what counts as a "bad end." If her simply being physically alive and having the agency associated with that, shunting her off to a parallel dimension (which, frankly, her scenes in Advent Children already look like, by the way) fulfills that requirement of a "happy" ending. I'm not saying they'll definitely do this, just that context clues are pointing to it as an option. I think people expecting a big happy Disney ending are going to be very disappointed because the game keeps balancing new hopefulness with "but..." Aerith's song is optimistic but wistful. There's an inherent melancholy baked into everything. My instinct is that it means Aerith herself will get a happy ending according to her own standards but it might be pretty sad for everyone else.

I think your point is interesting the issue is, wouldnt it be just very weird from a storytelling perspective? Alfred and Rosa say goodbye knowing they'll meet each other and be reunited again but then wait it was just for 5 min because they will say goodbye again and never see each other. lol

                Anonymous

Personally I think a super happy lovey dovey ending is what would be weird from a storytelling perspective. Like I said, the optimism is too layered with melancholy for that to make any sense. If it's a totally happy conclusion that it would mean the tone was just for the sake of maintaining tension but that's not typically how tension usually works. Beauty and the Beast has tension but it's presented as a roadblock to be overcome and the characters earn their happy ending. No Promises to Keep and the general "no promises" motif throughout the game have a tone that doesn't come across as something to be overcome but rather predictive of the outcome, specifically because it IS optimistic. The emotional nuance there feels like it's the smoking gun. It's hard to put into words but it's like how Batman movies work. You know Batman is going to win because it's a Batman movie but you don't expect all sunshine and rainbows, either. Because the tone of the entire product doesn't convey that. If they're going that route then then third game has a SHIT ton of work to do in order to naturally move the tone so that the ending doesn't feel like it came out of left field.

This is actually why Mass Effect 3's ending was so controversial. The trilogy was straight space opera but the ending decided to go in a completely crazy direction that didn't jive in tone with anything else. The games established an atmosphere where a proper saving the day ending should have been on the table but instead you got a bunch of weird and slightly unsettling finales. The emotional momentum we've seen in Remake/Rebirth so far just feels like a bittersweet ending is on it's way.

That's where i disagree, if it was the og story i would totally agree with you. But from what i see this version of events and story i think the devs and the characters deserve a happy ending. Of course i dont think it will be the disney ending. It will probably be something weirder and stranger than everyone thinks.

I don't know if she's responsible. When Sephiroth sees the white materia he says "this doesn't belong here" so getting rid of the white materia was likely his doing. OG Aerith likely hid herself away to act as a failsafe in order to eventually get the white materia back where it belongs. But in the process it caused her counterpart to lose her memory of the OG FFVII she had in Remake.

He probably wanted to see her casting the materia in his portal. But i dont think he expected to see her just fricking teleporting to other worlds to get other one and give it to cloud. So i wonder what was sephiroth's intent there.

Yes. In this scenario aerith is both alive, dead and in the lifestream at the same time. Because reality isnt even a material thing in this system. But just formed by a global subconscious. Aerith would be outside of this global subconscious at the moment, ant kept alive only by cloud.

if you take compilation as a whole ff7 had a shit ending. AC everyone has sephiroths space aids and cloud is on the verge of suicide.
But only ff7 game? Well then it can be seen as an alright ending, everyone dies but planet lives on

So that means an AC Remake where Cloud is not depressed due to Aerith and Zack not dying and happily married to Tifa. I assume Geostigma and the Advent Children; Kadaj and the gang are still there?

Square Enix will end up bankrupt eventually. They are influenced by western propagandists so they are bound to make more expensive failures like Flopspoken. And they are running low on Must Have Remakes. I guess they could remake the first Kingdom Hearts but.....nah I'm feeling that people want that remade Kingdom Hearts lost its luster years ago.

At the end of the day this entire FF7 Remake is divisive which is a BAD thing for a remake to be you either like the shitty Spider Verse multiverse or you don't. And the worst part of it is that Square Enix officially wasted the novelty itself of remaking FF7.

Even if years later Square Enix remade FF7 yet again and this time they stayed loyal it's too late. The even older grey haired fans are not going to give a damn anymore and new gamers will never give a damn about such old characters in the first place. FF7 characters aren't evergreen like Batman and Spiderman and Sonic. Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Cid, etc don't have that kind of long term allure. So Square Enix is doomed in due time.

The real question is when Square Enix fricks up enough who is going to buy them? Sony? If Sony gets them Square Enix is Double Dead.

aerith crying her eyes out after singing about wanting to change fate, are they just cruel

      Anonymous

Those weren't tears of sadness though. I think people are misinterpreting that song. The lyrics are about fate because duh, right? But she doesn't know her fate at that point. She's still stuck with the clear white materia and so isn't expecting to get murdered. I think she was crying because she's starting to finally internalize that she's actually loved. The song is a thematic followup from her Cosmo Canyon speech. Where, by the way, she almost faltered because she was uncomfortable and needed Cloud to intervene. In the song she's releasing all that trauma of her past. What makes it tragic is that she DOESN'T know what's coming but WE do. And the lyrics are symbolic of that. The song she thinks she singing isn't the song we as the audience are hearing.

Jesus, Aerith in this game is fricking gut wrenching to watch. Her conversation with Cloud on the water tower where she bitterly talks about how she'll never know what it's like to have childhood friends. She's been through so much horrific bullshit that it's not until Cosmo Canyon and Loveless where she's able to internalize that people actually care about her. She may be intellectually aware but it takes time for that to really absorb. Tifa is outwardly a doormat sometimes but doesn't think that the world hates her. Aerith is outwardly confident but assumes the entire goddamn planet thinks she's a piece of shit and deserves frick all let alone happiness. That's why she's still holding a flame for Zack after he effectively ghosted her and why she clings to Cloud. There aren't too many people in her life that make her feel good so she holds on to them for dear life.

Nah, she wouldn't have written the song and sang it publicly if it were her being sad. She's releasing the sadness and the acceptance she gets is what triggers the tears. A screenshot won't do but you can see it in the animation. Those are 100% tears of release.

            Anonymous

rewatched and it still seems like sadness.
She may not know her fate 100%, but she still feels it - check out red xiii date, he can still sense something bad will happen to aerith even tho whispers wiped out his memories.
She understands this is probably the last time she will get to enjoy a moment like that, so she went all out on her performance, but reality hit her afterwards. Full lyrics of NPTK expand on that

              >t. didn't play remake

I think Marlene retain future memories because only beagle got the wiped. Red and Aerith lost their memories in beagle, but terrier Marlene remembered them perfectly. And terrier Aerrith still has her white materia. It seems these alternate worlds are immune from whisper frickery.

I think they are setting up a parallel narrative with aerith envying cloud and tifa being childhood friends, having shared memories, etc, only to find out in part 3 that cloud was also alone, that the other kids thought he was weird too. she will probably find that out during his lifestream event.

The truth is that Aerith is the one who starts speedrunning trying to help cloud, even in other worlds she uses characters like marlene to tell zack to help cloud. And she is the one who even brings the topic of "real you". People see Tifa as the important character who fixes him because Aerith dies but Aerith is the one who kickstarts the whole topic of fixing cloud. And she will do far more in this trilogy.

the problem with (some) tifa fans is that for the longest time they convinced themselves cloud and aerith are never romantic with each other or are meant to be viewed like that.
So you have to do shut your eyes more and more to keep that belief going,

It would be an interesting psychological dive into examining this debate because the two romance stories are very different yet many people are so convinced only their view on the story is the absolute truth.
I kinda see aerith cloud as more of a fairytale romance, tifa cloud is more of a real world romance. Maybe that's the core (besides obviously - girl preference)

It's not romantic in Rebirth, for both parties. Hell majority of the game Cloud is aware of Aerith's feelings for Zack and Aerith is aware of Tifa's feelings for Cloud.

The Highwind scene would again ties to affection points, and the game would feature multiple endings. S ending would be Cloud reuniting with Aerith. In another she dies so Cloud can be with Tifa and continuing to AC.

There are some Aerith fans that do this too. Thinking this game was pushing against Cloud and Tifa means you just have to pretend the Goganga scene in Cissnei's house didn't happen.

The most obvious conclusion to all of this is that the devs actually like the love triangle. They think Tifa sells in the west, they think Aerith sells in Japan, they have a star crossed couple in Cloud and Aerith, they have a real world couple in Tifa and Cloud. It makes FFVII different from many of the other FF's and one of the aspects that makes it distinct. And it's worked all this time.

no doubt. But it's just less noticeable since the tifa fanbase is larger in the west and they tended to use that to spread a lot of bs. But both girls are obvious romantic interests for cloud.

It's actually not that crazy it would work that way. One unfortunate part about being Tifa is that Cloud kinda expects her to be there. You know how they say you hurt the ones you love? People will snap at their parents or spouses or kids. They'll be less attentive to the people closest to them in favor of someone else. Because comfort means you don't realize you even ARE hurting them. And you certainly don't expect them to leave you. It's not fair to them but it's human nature, right? Tifa will always be there for Cloud so Cloud doesn't necessarily pay her much attention because it's just a given. It's pretty sad because you know it hurts her.

I don't think people should treat Aerith's memories and prescience like an on/off switch.
It's possible that she has never known the things beyond a certain limit (like after her death, or after the sleeping forest), and that memory itself is hazy and can't be recalled on the go, or that she knows she remembers something but are missing contexts and details.
Even her admitting that the whispers taking away her memory, this isn't necessarily the full picture. It might be that the whispers are constantly chipping away her memories, so she didn't lose everything at once. So it is possible that she still knows she is going to inevitably fall for Cloud.

                Anonymous

I'm not sure she was looking to defy her own fate at that point. This is an assumption I'm making but it seems Sephiroth was the first to go back and Aerith followed in pursuit, triggering her past self to absorb her counterpart's memories. That why she's jarringly awoken from her trance at the beginning of the game and looks confused and afraid. From there she seems almost resigned to accepting fate, muttering under her breath every so often. And at the end she basically warns everyone that if they fight the whispers all bets are off and there's no guarantees. Because at that point she was willing to be bound to fate and make the sacrifice because she knew everything worked out in the end. By breaking fate now Sephiroth has a second chance and everything might go to shit. OG Aerith didn't seem to want to change anything. She just wanted to stop Sephiroth from fricking things up. Once the party beat the whispers though she had to change her strategy.

We don't know that it works that way. One theory I have is that the OG FFVII isn't beagleverse on the grounds that there was no Stamp back then. So beagleverse was created by Sephiroth and Aerith's Days of Future Past shenanigans and therefore their existence is effectively secured because the world they came from already happened even if beagle technically overwrites it.

My happy ending is that Sephiroth uses his power to destroy rhe universes of FFXV and XVI and wiped them from ever existing. The credits cutscene will say something like "The end is only a beginning for other worlds" hinting that Square will retcon those two shitty games from existing.

The next game will be titled Final Fantasy e.XV and will be as Nomura originally planned. Then e.XVI will be a turn based game that has nothing to do with YoshiP.

I have a lot of theories over those final parts but the weapon stuff seems kinda obvious to me how it is aerith from the lifestream helping tifa with ther memories.

I genuinely fricking hate the design of the whispers still. I don't know why but they just don't invoke that sense of mystery. They just look so stupid. I don't know what the frick i want.

I don't think they look dumb exactly but they look too much like generic enemies. They should have gone with something that has more personality.

    >"You know what? Maybe life isn't so bad. I'll figure it ou-"

I don't understand what the frick was the point of doing that to him

To show some timelines are dead ends. Biggs is still alive in at least 5 other timelines like Zack

It's Cloud that looks worse than any of the others out of these changes. Since he remembers Zack, and remembers that Zack refers to Aerith as his woman, and expresses that Zack was his friend and feels hurt that he didn't remember him, for Cloud to do either the Gold Saucer date or the chapter 14 date doesn't make Cloud look good. In the original he never remembers Zack at this point in time and so there's no issue.

The real issue with Zack is nobody knows what the frick happened to him. So as far as anyone knows he just ghosted the shit out of Aerith. So it ends up being awkward for everyone. When Cloud asked Aerith if she still has a flame for him in Gongaga she wasn't too comfortable answering. Zack is the elephant in the room. It'd be easier if they knew definitively that he was dead. But even in OG they didn't know that.

The shinra rocket from the original somehow comes back and through the multiverse and destroys the planet, and has all 4 huge materia. I still wouldn't even pirate it.

Has nobody considered the possibility that lifestream Aerith is the one trying to keep events as they were and allow her death to happen as it did?

    >White whispers are different from the black whispers or grey whispers
    >A white whisper is shown changing the timeline from Aerith being rescued from falling to Cloud and Aerith being on the ground
    >They're stopping Cloud from getting to Aerith in the Forest of the Ancients
    >White whispers are stopping the party from getting to Aerith in the City of the Ancients
    >Red XIII talks about them in a manner of surprise, as if these are different from the grey whispers in Remake
    >Sephiroth's whispers stop the party but then allow only Cloud in
    >White whispers with Sephiroth's black whispers are stopping Cloud getting to Aerith
    >there are white whispers circling Aerith after she dies, possibly keeping the others from seeing her alive timeline
    >Aerith is shown bringing white whispers with her when she arrives to help Cloud defeat Sephiroth, and it's contrasted with Sephiroth's black whispers
    >they apparently have white materia in them which is symbolic of Aerith

Why then would she be doing this? If Lifestream Aerith knows that her surviving results in a bad conclusion. The end of her date in the church with Cloud feels like a noble sacrifice, she has that as a weapon ability, and it's a theme of her character, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're keeping this as a possibility.

No because she is shown intentionally changing things via rainbows to benefit her ideal outcome (her and Zack surviving). Why Bring Zack back, and warn nuAerith about her fate in the first place?

        Anonymous

Because she needs Remake Aerith to take action to stop Sephiroth gaining control of fate, which they get wrong, or she expects that he'll gain control of it sooner or later anyway. After this she is then trying to keep events as they were.

When exactly does Remake Aerith get the warnings about the future is a question though, because at the start of Remake she apparently has no idea what the whispers are, and doesn't know that it's a bad idea to defeat fate thereby allowing Sephiroth to control it, etc.

OG Aerith wouldn't know what the whispers are either so Remake Aerith not knowing is no surprise. The game starts off odd compared to the original. In OG FFVII Aerith is serene as she mediates over the leaking mako and calmly walks out into the street. In Remake she's mediating and then something jostles her out of her trance and she confusingly looks around and then scuttles away, dropping her basket in a semi-panic. I think the implication is whatever happened to her to give her that future knowledge happened right there. You as the player don't know this yet, of course, because at this point you think it's just a straight remake and any differences are incidental rather than plot critical.

I don't understand people saying this. Remake has been far more respectful of the original than anything FFVII related since the original game.
