you get the stagger mechanic and can technically do all these combos, but then boss HP is so fricking low that you cannot possibly get even 1/4 of the way into a combo without killing it or triggering a phase change, it is the most aggravating shit ever how the game has to stop your fricking fight every 30 seconds to make you watch a cutscene

I don't understand why people are only complaining about the ending. The time jannies ruin nearly every iconic scene in the game, they don't just start appearing in the final two hours.
That's not even getting into how Remake is so tonally wrong and betrays the ethos of the original game. Hell, it fricks everything up in the very first dungeon by making the destruction of the Mako reactor a false-flag operation.
Remake is shit from start to finish from a storytelling and artistic level. It is hollow. Anything good about it is purely mechanical.
You need to get into theorycrafting youtube. Stop caring about the story being "good" or "bad" and watch people talk about the lore for a few hours.
Soon you won't actually care what is happening in the plot anymore and all that matters is what it adds to the lore.
For example Nero showing up in Remake is not good for the story, but it IS good for the lore and the theories.
Once you're a fan of FF7 theorycrafting literally everything that happens in the story, no matter what, is good - because it expands the lore. You can apply this to all the FF games and suddenly "bad writing" or "plotholes" simply disappear.
