If Cloud doesn't die them I'm convinced his mental break will be pulled forward to the end of Rebirth. The North Crater is so soon after Aerith's death that if Part 3 follows along we would lose Cloud right away almost.

Seeing how Hollow also ends with cloud saying "this time i will never let you go" makes me think he will change something, maybe it wont be a better outcome by saving her, but something different will happen.

Cloud can die because there's an empty backup to download his brain into. It doesn't make sense to off Tifa at that point. Imagine if that's how the original went down. She'd have been killed off after spending the entire first disc as an unremarkable background character. It's really not the same thing as killing Aerith.
Yes, that's how out of touch Nomura and Square are. They don't understand why the original was so successful, so they are going to paint it like Cloud will be the one to die, but Tifa will push him out of the way and save him by sacrificing herself.
Maybe there's a case for this on a meta level because she has a lot on fans but it really makes no sense in universe. Even in the Remake continuity she hasn't really done anything to be a major player in these events.

The opposite happened to Tifa, Tifa used to be the quiet, observant one who was always worried about Cloud leaving and getting his mind broken more than it already was. By comparison, 7R Tifa doesn't even seems to be aware Cloud has a memory problem and she's not much different than Aerith in personality; maybe you could say she's slightly more shy, but that's about it.
In the last scene in the trailer, you can see Cloud parrying the stab that was supposed to kill Aerith. The time jannies are also present there. It's obvious they're there because Cloud actually stops Sephiroth.

I do think the intent of that scene is to be very radioactive with its colors. That's why there are more particles flying too. I cant grasp where the lighting is coming from in the first pic.
Top is influencer/Journalists version. You can see it in this video. It looks so much better than the demo. The Mako cave scene and the end part where they're at the grasslands really shows.
I do expect the final version looking better because these demos need to be made from old builds most of the time, so they have more issues. I just hope at least the lighting issues get fixed at release.
You can even see when they do the synergy attack on materia keeper, this build doesnt do the close-up shots of seph/cloud.

It's common for a demo to be an older build, because they can't just like slice out a portion of the game and ship it on the same day the demo is chedlued to go public. They get it prepared in advance. Then afterward they aren't going to bother making patches for the demo package as they continue working on the main project.
The demo is probably the same one they showed off at Tokyo Game Show back in September, which itself was put together beforehand.
I wouldn't get wrapped up in a fantasy of the release/day 1 patch version of the full game being unrecognizably improved, but there will be changes of some kind

The demo allows you to continue your progress from where you left off in the demo. So it's the the build we'll get at release.

No it doesn't. The final game just lets you skip the flashback if it detects you completed the demo. It's not carrying over anything like xvi did

Having a save file from any point in the demo just unlocks an option to skip over the flashback once you reach it in the full game. The game itself is going to have a bit more of an intro for arriving in Kalm and settling in at the Inn for the story, and nothing done within the flashback carries over.

NTA, but the end of Part 2 of a trilogy is not "at the end". It's merely the end of act two, which in a three-act-structure story is usually one of the darkest moments were all hope was lost, known as the "Dark Night of the Soul" but then still allows a tiny ray of hope to shine through, but it's not good prospects. Then Part 3 is the one that finally manages to defy the expectations and bring forth what seems to be a miracle but was actually a dedicated combined effort by many.
Anyway, the analogy with the OG Star Wars trilogy was already raised by SE, so just look at that. It's obviously not the exact same, but in terms of overall developments it's supposed to be similar. And Rebirth would be like The Empire Strikes Back in that regard.

I think that's exactly what they're doing, and that's why Nomura said he has no idea of how people will react.
If Cloud doesn't die them I'm convinced his mental break will be pulled forward to the end of Rebirth. The North Crater is so soon after Aerith's death that if Part 3 follows along we would lose Cloud right away almost.

This scene is confusing. It looks like it's set in Zack's universe but it's clearly our Cloud (with the single shoulder guard) in the scene. My guess is that Cloud dies, somehow ends up in Zack's timeline and gets the white materia from Aerith#2 for some reason.

I was honestly happy when Aerith died in the original since she was such a massive c**t but she's miles better in 7R. The opposite happened to Tifa, Tifa used to be the quiet, observant one who was always worried about Cloud leaving and getting his mind broken more than it already was. By comparison, 7R Tifa doesn't even seems to be aware Cloud has a memory problem and she's not much different than Aerith in personality; maybe you could say she's slightly more shy, but that's about it.

The version of the game that influencers and journos played at the LA event 2 weeks ago is confirmed to be a different one from the demo we got, as you can see very clear differences in comparison shots. Is the event version the newer, final build, or will the release version be a different one?

Top is influencer/Journalists version. You can see it in this video. It looks so much better than the demo. The Mako cave scene and the end part where they're at the grasslands really shows.
I do expect the final version looking better because these demos need to be made from old builds most of the time, so they have more issues. I just hope at least the lighting issues get fixed at release.

It's common for a demo to be an older build, because they can't just like slice out a portion of the game and ship it on the same day the demo is chedlued to go public. They get it prepared in advance. Then afterward they aren't going to bother making patches for the demo package as they continue working on the main project.
The demo is probably the same one they showed off at Tokyo Game Show back in September, which itself was put together beforehand.
I wouldn't get wrapped up in a fantasy of the release/day 1 patch version of the full game being unrecognizably improved, but there will be changes of some kind

The demo allows you to continue your progress from where you left off in the demo. So it's the the build we'll get at release.

No it doesn't. The final game just lets you skip the flashback if it detects you completed the demo. It's not carrying over anything like xvi did

Having a save file from any point in the demo just unlocks an option to skip over the flashback once you reach it in the full game. The game itself is going to have a bit more of an intro for arriving in Kalm and settling in at the Inn for the story, and nothing done within the flashback carries over.

While i do agree that misdirection happens in these stories, there are ways and ways of making them, having 2/3 of a trilogy focused in changing things and having jannies and fate a major part of it just to have nothing changing at the end is not a good way of doing subversion. At this point it would be better to have a faithful remake because they just ended doing an inferior version of the same story.

Exactly. If they had jannies flying on my face every 2 seconds just to do the same shit i would rather not having this whole sequel plot.
That's why dont care if she lives or dies, my biggest question is how they will do her story and finish it in a way that feels satisfactory. Because even if she dies, something will need to change now.
NTA, but the end of Part 2 of a trilogy is not "at the end". It's merely the end of act two, which in a three-act-structure story is usually one of the darkest moments were all hope was lost, known as the "Dark Night of the Soul" but then still allows a tiny ray of hope to shine through, but it's not good prospects. Then Part 3 is the one that finally manages to defy the expectations and bring forth what seems to be a miracle but was actually a dedicated combined effort by many.
Anyway, the analogy with the OG Star Wars trilogy was already raised by SE, so just look at that. It's obviously not the exact same, but in terms of overall developments it's supposed to be similar. And Rebirth would be like The Empire Strikes Back in that regard.
