Honestly, does ANYONE as Square Enix know what people want in a Final Fantasy anymore?
Something snapped in SE around FF10 and the company has never managed to dig up the magic again. It's been a slow march to the grave ever since. >inb4 XIV is printing money
Yes, but it's a WoW-clone made for furgays ERP sessions with the Final Fantasy name on it for no reason.
Its the minute the company starts being about profits and not about games. Happens to every major company. CPR is the latest, best example of exactly that happening.
Remember when FF7, 8 and 9 all came out in like a 4/5 year period? And they're all pretty fricking good? Why can't they do this shit again?
It's like everyone who had passion for making a good product gets replaced with a corporate shill only interested in making money,
>Remember when FF7, 8 and 9 all came out in like a 4/5 year period?
We didn't know how good we had it. All those games were loved on release (even 8, arguably the black sheep of the bunch) and we'll never see their like again.
In my head, literally all SE need to do is to make FF17 a turn-based game with a bunch of characters moving over a hand-drawn backgrounds and a good story. Frick, with modern technology this shouldn't even be particularly hard. FF arguably needs to be scaled down, but the investors won't like that and the investors are all that matter.
So how does this work? FF7 (the original) looks like trash by modern standards and must have cost 10% of XVI to make, yet sold several million more copies than XVI. How does one justify this to shareholders without admitting that they were just a much better company before now?
>Covid is back and people are more worried about health than games >Economic recessions in many countries effects video games sales, but we're ahead of the curve >The PS5 has a smaller install-base, it is important to see that number in relation to our sales >war in Ukraine has made players worried
There are always a million good excuses you can give shareholders.

Yes, but then you look at all the other games that did better. Truth most people are overlooking is money Sony gave them for exclusivity covered god knows how many sales.

> Not to mention most jrpg players are too old now
Holds for me at least, I used to live and breathe JPRGs when I was younger and bought or rented almost every single one I get get my hands on from the NES to PS2 period but I've gotten older with less time to do anything for prolonged periods thus my backlog of games is piled so high I just don't buy new RPGs anymore. I haven't even started XIII yet and I have all three of them around here somewhere.
>FF7 (the original) looks like trash by modern standards and must have cost 10% of XVI to make
FF7 reportedly cost around $50M in development budget alone and between $30-100M in marketing. Unless FF16 had a $500M development budget, it was not 10% of XVI to make.
>Remember when FF7, 8 and 9 all came out in like a 4/5 year period?

>make FF17 a turn-based game with a bunch of characters moving over a hand-drawn backgrounds and a good story
they tried with octopath
it doesn't work because someone had the genius idea to make pixelshit over unreal engine lightning, which is jarring.
They don't want to make good story anymore, all they can do is to ape modern licences like game of thrones or remake kingdom hearts again
I think the problem SE have is that they keep having stories developed in-house. And there's far too little talent in-house for them to keep doing that. The company needs fresh blood, someone who's actually good at writing and has a bunch of fascinating and interesting never-before-seen ideas in his head.

SE marketing is among the most moronic in the industry
when a game does pretty well they like to hammer it down by saying they'll make 20 different sequels in the same universe, the first of those being some gacha trash most of the time, sucking all goodwill
then when a game doesn't reach gta5 tier breakthrough they love to advertise it as a disappointment, a failure and they'll kill the entire licence if they can help it.
It doesn't help that they're still stupid and stuck in the 5th generation of console frickery where they make sure to hype a game for years before being very clear that said game will be available for a single console and do their very best to break games on PC if possible, someone decided that world of FF would only allow a black screen on PC for example

I mean yes, I can see the end goal, but isn't that the very first lesson in marketing classes that you need to tailor the offer for the right niche?
How can someone even sign this shit, even with office politics it won't cost anything to fix.
And they've been trying this stuff for years with no result on a well-established franchise, it's not even the case where you need to keep pumping money in the hopes of getting a breakthrough, everyone knows the name

the problem is the audience prefers to complain and chartpost.
Turn based gays always act like it's just that simple all the while ignoring the turn based games that they're still releasing. Octopath 2 has been getting accolades left and right and yet it bombed really badly.
SE is getting mixed signals from its community so I don't blame them for wanting to move on from turn based. But then again, most turn based fans have moved on and now play Atlus, RGG, and/or Falcom games.
>Honestly, does ANYONE as Square Enix know what people want in a Final Fantasy anymore?
They never really did and simply had better developers working on them. Keep in mind FF was always bound by nebulous ideas like "themes and mood" than anything mechanical.
>Honestly, does ANYONE as Square Enix know what people want in a Final Fantasy anymore?
They know what people want from a Final Fantasy game.
The real issue is Square Enix DOES NOT WANT to make a Final Fantasy game. That's all there is to it. Square Enix wants to make BIG NUMBERS, AAA Dewrito gigabuxx games. Just like Tomb Raider and Deus Ex were simply not good enough for them, their ultmate goal is to pull off the same thing Blizzard did with Warcraft (turn a big name of an RTS game into a much more profitable MMORPG giant), Bethesda did with Fallout (turn a big name CRPG into a much more profitable FPS-RPG hybrid), etc. Use the popular name of a famous franchise to kickstart a completely unrelated money printer in the AAA sphere.
nobody gives a shit about "beating wow". We're talking about making a successful game, which ff14 is, but not enough for SE execs who only see GTA5 or genshin as the only possible examples, which is stupid and is killing the brand
What that other anon said.
FFXIV is doing great... in context. But it's in the same category as their western games (Deus Ex, Tomb Raider). It does well enough for AAA standards, but it's not a breadwinner that sets you up for an infinite bank.
They want a WoW, a Starfield, a Minecraft, a Genshin, a CoD,... not Far Cry.
>It does well enough for AAA standards, but it's not a breadwinner that sets you up for an infinite bank.
FF11 has continually made the most money out of all FFs. You're underestimating what a steady monthly income means. All these AAA blockbuster are dead sales-wise after the first month until discount sales start trickling in or they re-launch on different platforms. Why do you think everyone fought to have an MMORPG out there no matter how shitty?

This. No one cares about selling you a game for 70 bucks anymore. They want to sell you a game you'll pay for forever.

you don't get it, it doesn't matter that a product made "the most money out of them" SE execs want to feature in video game news as the top dog, they just want to be GTA5, there's a reason why their spokespersons always chime in after a release saying "this game only sold this much, disappointing".
Of course microtransactions are the way to go for making bank, but they're closing their gachas left and right when they require almost no maintenance, and no imagination since every story is the same: Galactic menace, just summon FF characters and 2B just because they don't reach Genshin revenue.

>In a way this is smart approach because you're tempering the shareholders
Yeah, this strategy is working, obviously.
I know almost 100% of public announcements are for shareholders, but claiming every single product you release is a dumpster fire has its limits
This was all trickery by the suits behind Flopspoken. Note how there is no dive despite that very obvious flop? That's because they did something dirty in accounting. They intentionally delayed the write-downs related to Flopspoken until FFXVI released. They hoped FFXVI would somehow be such a huge success, comparable to something like Bloodborne on PS4, that it could bury the losses caused by Flopspoken. But that didn't happen and the losses from Flopspoken caused the stocks to tank. Without that FFXVI would have caused a stock boost instead.
That's the reason for the seemingly "contradictory" statements about FFXVI's success and also why SE decided to cut down on future AA-games. They probably killed all the future projects that involved the suits behind Flopspoken that caused this whole mess. Had they not done this atrocious move, you would have had a big loss earlier in the year which would then be followed by FFXVI recovering the loss and the confidence of investors. But now you just have a stock dive with nothing to show for it. Maybe SE will finally use this incident to clean house.

Remember that they released like 6 AA games back to back before forshitten so that they wouldn't completely capsize before stating they were gonna stop pushing them so hard

>. Note how there is no dive despite that very obvious flop.
because SE AAA games are worthless, the big money comes from microtransactions, costumes in FF14, gachas, and all that jazz, they most likely used common tricks for tax returns with forspoken.
There are no real accounting conspiracies here, AAA wasn't the big bread winners for almost 10 years now, just like people scoff at Microsoft for buying Activision saying how Wow is dead and it was a stupid move, they did it to grab Candy Crush because that's where the money is. > You would have had a big loss earlier in the year which would then be followed by FFXVI recovering the loss and the confidence of investors.
Final Fantasy has been shit for almost 15 years now, FF12 was the first one because they changed the formula too hard, then came out ff13 with a formula way too safe, and it was supposed to come with versus 13 for a complete experience but it went through dev hell and they're still trying to salvage what they lost from it.
16 is the continuity, it's a relatively small game, it had 2 or 3 trailers and that's it, 16 only exists to remind people that Final Fantasy as a franchise still exists. > Maybe SE will finally use this incident to clean the house.
you wish, it will be the same trend, the same old out-of-touch executives racking up bonuses, throwing shit left and right because others did it and when they'll retire this house of cards will crumble and they'll be bought out by another big company where they'll pump mobile games and remakes until they'll go out of business, it's written over the entire wall, this entire mess that put SE in deep shit? multi-year release of the same game? They're doing it again with FF7

Not for long
Well
Its obvious SE has been trying to make movies since 10. Just look at how much work they put into the visuals rather than anything else. Visuals are movie tier while the gameplay has been dogshit continuously.
there are more furgay character designs in WoW then in FFXIV so I don't really get where you getting at. You can play a worgen, a dragonfricker, or a panda.
This is what happens when you stop building on what made you popular and decide to chase trends instead. FF was always a trend chasing series (back then they were chasing Dragon Quest), but they became so wrapped up in mainstream appeal that they lost sight of everything they had built up.
>Honestly, does ANYONE as Square Enix know what people want in a Final Fantasy anymore?
They never really did and simply had better developers working on them. Keep in mind FF was always bound by nebulous ideas like "themes and mood" than anything mechanical.
Not as much as Square Enix wants you to believe that. 1, 3,4 and 5 were all very similar mechanically with 2, the oddball, being the one that people hated. (I consider ATB vs Turn Based to be splitting hairs, they're different flavors of the same system). 6, 7 and 8 all had significantly more customization in character builds, but still had the same flow (walk around on world map>get sucked into battle screen>X amount of homies in a row standing around waiting for their turn to act>win battle and get a static level up). 9 was a return to the formula of the early games. X was the first one that really was a drastic departure with removing the world map and changing the level up system, but it still had enough of what made those old Final Fantasy games with Turn based combat, random encounters, 3 homies in a row, not to mention all the thematic stuff that you mentioned.
But now we're getting games like FFXV and FFXVI that have almost nothing in common with those early games outside of riding Chocobos. They're unidentifiable as Final Fantasy games.
Square Enix didn't exist when FFX came out.
After the merger and that moron Wada became president it was all over. He moved their HQ far away based on the readings of a fortune teller.
That was the reason nobuo uematsu left the company btw
>"[Square Enix CEO and president Yoichi] Wada took a couple of locations to a fortune teller named Pao," said Uematsu. "Pao said the Meguro space was not going to bring any fortune to the company, and pointed to Shinjuku. That's why he decided to move it there. I heard this directly from Wada."
FFX and Kingdom Hearts were some of the last big games they released under the Squaresoft name. Square Enix very close to those so it's easy to get confused.
You mean squaresoft? The company that went bankrupt due to incompetent leadership despite making the greatest jrpgs ever? Yeah, something did snap. They became square enix and have been garbage ever since.
I swear to god Spirits Within was great at everything except actually being an interesting movie. It was the age old "what if FF cinematics were a movie?" answered and it blew my mind back in the day.

it still had a map in the airship and i agree it would've been nice to have an overworld map once the game opens up and you unlock it. but i guess it wasn't worth it resource wise as for most of the main story you are on a pilgrimage where exploring random places would've made no sense. >removed pre-rendered backgrounds,
they didn't, those are still in FFX. maybe they just stood out to you less as its a PS2 game now >and added voiced dialogue.
this is a good thing, well i guess it's preference but X's voice acting added to its emotional scenes and while some people might not like the EN VA i think the JP is good.
tldr, the overworld map i agree with but i also see why it was cut. FF didn't derail from this
Final Fantasy needs parties back and more importantly needs the freak party members back. The last FF game to have a non-human party member (no the dog in FF16 doesn't count, it's just a dog) was FF10, aka the last good one
needs more variety again, and job system back.
this is why japs say saga is better. can't wait for emerald beyond to make a party with hijab gril and a 'literal' tank
wasnt quina one of the strongest characters?
khimari was ok if you dumped enough skills into him i think but ff10 is an abomination anyways and the sphere grid is garbage
no one cares
ff16 was shit and is already completely COMPLETELY forgotten
ff7r will also be shit but will have its dehydrated wiener sucked by millions upon millions of morons over the years
FFXVI wasn't shit, it was just remarkably average after they killed off Cid./spoiler] Clive is a decent enough protag but not as the sole character in the party (Jill barely counts.) The first 5-10 hours were pretty strong but then it just got boring as frick. Felt like a huge missed opportunity.
It can't be that hard to just create a compelling setting. FF1-12 did a decent enough job of making me want to keep playing because I cared about the characters and the setting, but since then it's just been a frickin snorefest.
Why does Barry enjoy FFXV so fricking much? It's more out my personal curiosity out of anything. The game's story is split into different types of media which even then tells an incoherent story, the gameplay is probably the worst. Combat is clunky, open world feels empty, assets being reused over and over. The one thing I will give it credit is the music. Other than that it's nothing worth dying for.

people posting the preorders don't realize that the problem isn't the games, it's the console.
EVERY PS5 game have terrible preorders
compare to ps4 or ps3 games.
Japs in general just aren't really fan of the PS5.
>Pre-ordering BAD!
I don't get why people still whine about this. It's basically just so people can get it on release day if they really want to play it right away. Nobody does it because they think they won't be able to get a copy. It's not like it costs anything, plus reviews typically come out several days before release and it's not like it can't be cancelled at any time before it ships/preloads. Is not like people are still going into a fricking GameStop and dropping $5 down/paying in full anymore since basically nobody buys games at physical stores anymore. If somebody thinks a game looks cool and like they'll wants to play it right away, they just order online and if the reviews/leaks come out and it's actually shit, they just cancel with zero cost to them. The only real issue with preorders is that publishers like to lock content behind bonuses but it's usually pretty much just early cheat items or aesthetic crap that add nothing of value but again, it costs nothing to do and takes like 2 seconds to cancel.
I'm never going to stop arguing that letting Nomura off the tard-leash was a dumb idea. He's a great concept artist, but he can't write to save his life.
TWEWY is pretty good, I think the problem is that nomura has basically only made 3 games (FFVII, KH, TWEWY) outside of contributing designs his whole career and none of them really kept the stand alone aspect that made FF what it was. The whole versus XIII thing isn't just about him being generally bad at management, he literally cannot let go of his projects and probably wanted to constantly weave more of Noctis' entire life story and legacy into that game
I think Nomura is a fantastic concept artist and even a good director but he absolutely needs some sort of producer keeping him tethered and someone else writing his ideas into something coherent.
I'm never going to stop arguing that letting Nomura off the tard-leash was a dumb idea. He's a great concept artist, but he can't write to save his life.
Nomura wasn't really in charge of anything FF but Versus XIII though until VII-R, wasn't he? And even that was him trying to tardwrangle Nojima and Kitase. I'm pretty sure people are just witch hunting at this point.

It's not that he left while the going was good, it's that he left without leaving a suitable successor that understood why people liked the previous Final Fantasy games.
You have to understand that development for Engage started before 3H was even released.
Engage wasn't really a follow-up to 3H, it was a follow-up to Fates.
I'll never understand developer logic when it comes to some things. Like fetch quests. NO ONE likes those. Why even have them? Just to pad out the game? This isn't like FF7R when they stretched out a five hour section into 30+ hours.
Remember when jrpg sidequests were few but massive and organically integrated in the world and accessible after the first and second thirds of the game instead of mmo shopping list tier "kill 20 rats, bring me 15 mcguffins and defeat this reskinned boss" grindfricks?
I remember.
I liked that kind of design way more than MMO-tier fetch quests. But Square started pushing this trash with FF12 then it got substantially worse with FF15 and 16 with literally hundreds of pointless fetch quests. I can only imagine how much worse it'll be in FF7 Rebirth because it was already bad in Remake despite the linearity and small size of the maps but now with the open world meme the sky is the limit of how much worse it can get.
The only saving grace is that FF7 had a few decent sidequests that will for sure make it into the game like the chocobo races, breeding chocobos that will let you access new areas where you find rare materia, weapons and stuff. Several mini games, optional bosses that require you to max everything to fight them, so not 100% of the sidequests are gonna be MMO-tier fetch quests bring me this or fight that. Apparently they are even including a card game like FF8's.
You don't understand. Most players got into gaming with PS3/360. FF13 clouded their judgement on what FF is supposed to be. Than 15 happened muddying the waters even further. 16 is something utterly unfamiliar to them as FANTASY as such was never really there.
Will it be the last time Sony will give SE timed exclusivity bucks considering the Activision deal?
That whole thing is a huge concern to both Sony and SE
real talk also, have we seen Cid gameplay yet, or Vincent for that matter, or Cait Sith? is gold saucer going to be DLC?
releasing on ps4, but not including yuffie dlc, then moving the rest to PS5 while everyone is still on ps4 / finally went to pc, is like shooting yourself in the legs repeatedly but I guess im not the target audience anymore. perhaps I never was. (90s as kid all games are edgy "adult" gore stuff. didnt care played it anyway, watched terminator before I was 18 too. become adult, "games are for kids" that'll be 500 bucks and 80 per game (was 10 back when.))
new threat is better than remake though, unironically. remake feels like fanfic or like its been put through nomuras kingdom hearts story logic. (fricking time ghosts)
Didn't you gays keep insisting that XVI had low preorder numbers back then because there are millions of people who would rather preorder for Rebirth as soon as it opens up?
Looks like scalpers and dudebros don't actually play videogames
Amazing strategy making it a timed exclusive on a dead console, FF7R3 never because this one will flop
You gays can argue all you want. Nothing will stop me from playing every single FF as long as they come to PC.
If you let Ganker to warp your perception and cripple your decisions, you are a weak minded fool.

Explains a fair deal about EW being the half-assed rehash it was if she was doing more supervisory work than actual writing
I wouldn't be surprised if they've pushed an initiative to remake more games after VIIR either, and spreading them out between divisions would make sense, especially if they already moved luminous' charred remains to CBU2 for DQ12 codemonkey work (they're probably working on that new Mana game as well). I would expect CBU3 to be contributing heavily to any pre-7 remakes since they've basically been using them as storyboard material for 14 the whole time
>the team got pulled out for ff16 >less and less content over time >the main story is finished and they try to advertise this expansion as a downtime for a new big bad (it still costs as much as the previous expansion) >new race, that will most likely be unable to use helmets >anything that isn't a FATE farm or the main story ends up being a failure
it's set up to fail
I should have been more clear: I'm talking marketing wise, it's the fear of most players: that the team behind ff14 was stretched thin to work on 16, as far as I know, inly yoshida worked on it and a director working on several projects (especially since 14 is formulaic) is nothing unusual.
it means every fault of the expansion will be attributed to 16, which, as we all know, is a very healthy event for any product to have blame shifting
>marketing wise
Schizophrenic shitposters obsessed with patch content in a game that has had maybe a single jack shit more than the bare minimum for patch content for it's entire existence are not a marketing concern
>less and less content over time
content doesn't really disappear with each new expansion, you're thinking in other mmo >new race, that will most likely be unable to use helmets
and fantasia will be bought by the dozen, limsa will be femhroth central
female hroths are more of an obligation than a race release. just like male vieras were. the real meat is on the new jobs, just like in Endwalker
also, anything related to story is complete elucubration. EW patches were marketed as a "comfy vacation" time with some adventuring and you ended up fighting zeromus in the 13th. No one can really tell for certain what will happen. You'd think morons would learn after Zodiark, but here we are again
This, the gameplay in remake was already 9/10, now with improvements and added party members it's easy 10/10.
Expanded character relations and affinity
Iconic locations Cosmo Canyon, Gold Saucer, Nibelheim, Temple of the Ancients, Junon, Kalm, Forgotten Capital.
So much to do
The fun part is that this should be totally expected. I'm not surprised the pre-orders are rough because a.) it's a fricking sequel, those always have issues maintaining numbers since you either raise or lower depending on the reception to the previous game, and b.) it's a sequel to a "remake" that already had a rather mixed response. No matter how vocal the Youtube and Twitch hype can be about their nostalgia for a game that's 26 years old, the reality is the fricking time jannies and Rebuild of Evangelion bait with alternate timelines has made a lot of people cautious and confused.
ff7 was already schizo-kino but even ignoring that you forgot point 3, PS5 exclusive.

i said it a couple weeks ago about how FF is already anime as frick, and 7 was pretty much sharing the Evangelion era frickery with 8. in a way, remake being Rebuild is fitting, it's just no one but handfuls of "but i don't want the exact same game" rejecters wanted it to BE Rebuild. and yeah, that's also a kick in the shin, PS5 games still are in an awkward space where they just simply aren't the biggest profit makers solely due to how awkward the install base for the console is after the early scalping and so many wondering if there's a point to the upgrade.

the problem is, I don't want one unless I can port ALL my games from ps4 at a minimum, for free (no) and on top of that my toaster pc is already better than a ps5, upgrading my GPU would shit all over current consoles. so, there is no point.
except jesus isn't posting here 24/7 about things he hate and how much of a fail they are just to be proven wrong and make a fool of himself day after day
Honestly this gen has been so empty beyond "LOOK AT OUR SSD LOADING WOW" which wore off in the first year and is just a thing everyone takes for granted now. Wowie you got racing games that are now more monetized and buggy/unfinished to be resold to you GaaS piecemeal. Oh boy, you're playing another Spider-Man game with worse writing and some gameplay tweaks or additions but it's virtually the Arkham City to the Arkham Asylum, yet ultimately just copypastes so much that it's by the books. Hey, ya like Bethesda? Because we've got the most Bethesda-ass game to ever Bethesda, and that is a major problem because it runs like dogshit for no real good reason and happens to also have sacrificed everything for next-gen sparkles that they couldn't even keep consistent.
This industry is going straight for the dumpster fire, and PS5/XSX are the arbiters.
I mean its difficult to predict the future. I think a lot of people would have said PS5 would be successful pre pandemic and its likely these exclusivity contracts would have been signed then. With a new CEO and the fallout from this sort of thing they'll probably be less likely to pull this shit again unless they get a sweeter deal. If they don't they deserve the shit thrown at them.
The problem is Square used to be innovators and all they are doing is chasing trends. If I wanted to play a western movie-game I'd just play slop like Alan Wake II, God of War, Last of Us, etc.
There's literally no reason to have "experience" or "skill points" in Final Fantasy XVI or equipment. SquareEnix just chases trends now and it's pretty damn disappointing.
Guess he automatically assumes everyone is a poorgay like him and are forced to only like one game at a time. I would pity him if he wasn’t such a Black person
I hate what they are doing with the story but I love the combat, so I'm definitely buying it. I just hope they give us some insane difficulty settings. FF7R's Hard difficulty was quite good with item restrictions and stuff but I'm hoping for a little more to make all the min-maxing and optimizations worth it. Not to mention this time around we got more party members.
Sony has been actively alienating its weeb audience since the PS3 days. With the demise of Japan Studio, most weebs will never again purchase a WokeStation. Square's biggest mistake was engaging in these foolish exclusivity deals instead of fully embracing a multiplatform approach with PC as its primary platform, as Capcom did. No Japanese studio in their right mind should ever think about creating a SnoyStation exclusive in this day and age. Frick Sony and frick California tranniestate.
I've noticed a weird trend where the only threads that actually talk about Final Fantasy are the ones about FF8. Every other thread is either dedicated to shitting on a game or salesgayging. Only FF8 invites any actual discussion.
FF8 is the only FF with any actual depth. The junction system can be discussed for days, the plot, the characters, and the lore are literally topics that can be recontextualized and interpreted forever.
8 is such a clusterfrick that we have to talk about the game to untangle what we have witnessed. the other games either have tight stories with few plotholes or too banal to discuss
FF8 is the only FF with any actual depth. The junction system can be discussed for days, the plot, the characters, and the lore are literally topics that can be recontextualized and interpreted forever.
People who talk about FF8 may have wildly different opinions about what's going on, but FF8 fans recognize each other and enjoy reflecting with each other even if they don't directly agree.
FF8 fans have been liking and discussing their game despite being shit on for decades. Constantly being told it's the black sheep of the FF games and isn't good compared to 7 and 9 immediately puts up a normie gate and keeps out a lot of them from playing the game. Merge this with the junction system, how magic works, refining, etc, and it filters people HARD. The FF8 community is, without question, the best of the FF fans.
FF8 was both riding on the FF7 hype and had a nice marketing push. It's one of the first examples of "let's see if the masses would like a more complex experience" and them buying it, getting filtered, and later blaming it all on the game being bad. Not saying the game is perfect, of course.
>FF8 was both riding on the FF7 hype and had a nice marketing push
Just like FF15, except it rode on the last tide of FF hype in general and crashed into a cliffside.
Its not ff only, there is a group of xenotrannies derailed other JRPG games to sales shit >SMTroon for anything atlus does >tendies for FF, Falcom, or any other weeb game
FF8 is not that discourse intensive because "most" of the time people who arrive in FF8 threads actually enjoy the game.
Games like 7 are the biggest one of the franchise, so they invite weird people who come just to say their arbitrary FF is better, all types of shitposter.
>FF8 is not that discourse intensive because "most" of the time people who arrive in FF8 threads actually enjoy the game. >Games like 7 are the biggest one of the franchise, so they invite weird people who come just to say their arbitrary FF is better, all types of shitposter.
It also invites people who like other franchises.
As example, you barely see people going into a Trails thread to promote their other favorite franchise(i like trails a lot)
But with FF7? oh boy you'll see all the time people from saga, persona, xenoblade arriving to shitpost.
16 was the best in the series since 10, but that's not saying much since it's been a total shitshow that whole time. 7R2 will sell alright but not great, SE will panic, 17 will be another MMO (not based on 16/7R2 sales, already been the plan for a long time) but do worse than 14 and panoc more, 18 will be their last chance to use that panic and right the ship.
I didn't buy FF16 until 2 days before release. Same goes for Rebirth. FF16 is the worst game in the series, however, and I want my time back. Keep the money.
>PS5 exclusive >First game was sold on a lie and is a Reimagining and lying pisses people off >It's not a remake which is what people wanted >the memes surrounding it with ubisoft towers and other shenanigans
You know what's the funny part? The most damning part of the above issues is that it's PS5 exclusive.
>First game was sold on a lie and is a Reimagining and lying pisses people off >It's not a remake which is what people wanted
This right here. They even made the boxart very reminiscent of the original FF7 boxart. Also nobody is going to "triple dip" in this when they know it's not really a remake of FF7 and they expected it all to be on Remake in the first place. I have no idea why Square Enix thought this was a good idea.
I've played it once on dolphin many years ago just to see how mgs would look with mgs2 assets but yeah the game was even worse than I could ever imagine. it's actually much worse and infinitely more offensive to original than what ff7r ended up being. almost feels like a parody made by a kojima hater.
Not really. Twin Snakes is still the original story with some dumb matrix-like scenes, that Kojima ironically put into MGS4 himself. 7R is taking the story itself in a different direction.
>with some dumb matrix-like scenes
these cutscenes are the soul of the original game, you don't mess with that and live

It's because the multiplayer is Monhun with platinum games combat. But the boss battle mechanics seem like they came out of FF14.

Well, it's their first console game. And as anime games go, this one looks really good especially with the effects and character animations. Especially one with Platinum combat, since Platinum games are always 12 hour experiences.
I'm just glad they didn't include a gacha or live service shit since Cygames is first a mobile game company before anything else.

Yea, I don't see the similarities gameplay wise either.
Yeah, but that's Granblue Versus Rising.
Granblue Relink is an ARPG with Platinum games combat, it got announced before the fighting game but they had tons of problems to release it fue to being their first console game ever to be developed in house.
Lots of delays later, and the game is gonna be able to release on February 1st, check it out:
Both FF16 and 7R sold more than that pixelslop, and those 4 million include all players, free Game Pass include. I played it on Game Pass and dropped it when I got to the pirate town. Octopath 2 did sell 1+ million, though.
What you should've posted is pic related. That's the best possible way to shit on FF16, whose directors insisted turn-based was dead. Meanwhile a turn-based game is GOTY, likely game of the decade.
>implying anyone uses BG3 genuinely
It's the most obvious shitposting polemic being used. No one cares about CRPGs being turn-based. This is a WEEB thread.

>4 million "players"
Let me guess, was it on gamepass?
Here's my problem. What's wrong with having millions of players? Unless you have personal stock and investment in the company that made the game, why is, for example, Sea of Stars having 4 million players somehow not impressive or a good statistic?
Because you're comparing different metrics. At this point starfield would be a better comparison to Sea of Stars than FF because the way it makes money is more similar to Sea of Stars.
You talked specifically about success and failure. What even 4 million players mean budget-wise? no one knows.
I never brought up success of failure, I just asked why having millions of players is somehow a bad metric. I apologize for just jumping in to an already happening debate you were probably having with someone else, but I don't understand why that metric it's just brushed off like it's nothing. Especially to people who have no investment in the companies that made the games.

Yeah i thought you were the first guy i replied to. But i think i presented my point very well, it is hard to compare what is success and what is failure when we deal with online systems like gamepass.
And about your second point, i also dont care much, i just discussed the topic because it was what the first person was talking about.

I've ALWAYS felt like discussing how much a game has sold has offered no value other than to use it as ammunition to throw in arguments as "proof" that a game is good or bad or something. I feel similarly about using reviews as objective measures of quality too, but that's a whole other thing. I never cared about sales either, but it's pathetic how much on video game forums care about it as if it has any effect on them or as proof of quality of the game.

At the end of the day it is more about validation.
I never trust these kind of statistics from any online game as they always count any account made even if never logged in and it also counts bot accounts that get banned for botting and quickly get replaced by new accounts.
It will still sell way more and more successful compared to ff16
I mean, ff7 is the most popular and most beloved FF, its remakes bound to be massively successful too, it also the only ff that has wide appeal to normal people and non-FF fans.
>lived to see FF die in my lifetime
I never played a single FF game as far as I remember the series has been receiving negativity ever since the ps3 era, probably before that even. It amazes me it sells at all, but then again shit like COD has been receiving backlash around the same time and keeps selling gangbusters.
>I never played a single FF game as far as I remember the series has been receiving negativity ever since the ps3 era
Great example of why your opinion shouldnt be considered.
Why would you even preorder? I will buy and play it, but if I have to do it early to pre-download and play day one, it's going to be a couple of days earlier at best.
SE is a mess, it's why other companies are catching up to them and making better JRPG's.
They even cripple their PC releases by putting them on the Epic Games Store, and they are stupid enough to not atleast ask for a Fortnite collab that would put Tifa in the mind of all zoomies out there.
Looking from the outside it does seem like SE lacks any sort of unified vision which pits guys like Nomura and Yoshi-P against each other despite both representing the same company and even the same franchise. They need to have Sakaguchi come back just to act like a therapist councilor.
The Saints Row reboot had an entire season of DLC, guess that means it sold millions and wasn't a total failure of a game that got the developers shut down.
DLC is not "hey our game is a success so lets make more content"
It's "let's cut content from the game and sell it later, oh also don't forget to not include that in the disc to avoid another SF X Tekken boycott"
>DLC is not "hey our game is a success so lets make more content" >It's "let's cut content from the game and sell it later
You don't know how correct you are.
>ff15 is a piece of shit >final fantasy 7 re-tarded is a piece of shit >flopspoken is a piece of shit >final fantasy 16 is a piece of shit
people started noticing the square-enix logo.
>no ultrawide support >hdr is still broken >dx12 enabled by default and is still broken >dynamic resolution still enforced with no toggle >ghost Black folk
I will not buy your game.
Final Fantasy as a video game franchise has been "failing" since X, and only had a minor uplift with 15. But of course, the new unreleased game is surely going to the flop that kills the franchise for good, because that's what generates the most bait
I wonder why journalists like Imran Khan who assured us he had sources about how Square was terrified about FF16 low preorder numbers not saying anything about Rebirth's current state?
Turns out segways, time jannies and ubislop towers aren't what people are looking for in a Final Fantasy game. YoshiP is the future.
Honestly, does ANYONE as Square Enix know what people want in a Final Fantasy anymore?
Something snapped in SE around FF10 and the company has never managed to dig up the magic again. It's been a slow march to the grave ever since.
>inb4 XIV is printing money
Yes, but it's a WoW-clone made for furgays ERP sessions with the Final Fantasy name on it for no reason.
>furgays
Isn't wow the game with like 8 furgay races
I haven't played WoW in 10 years, but that might be true.
Its the minute the company starts being about profits and not about games. Happens to every major company. CPR is the latest, best example of exactly that happening.
Remember when FF7, 8 and 9 all came out in like a 4/5 year period? And they're all pretty fricking good? Why can't they do this shit again?
It's like everyone who had passion for making a good product gets replaced with a corporate shill only interested in making money,
It's almost like something made developing a product cost 10x and require 5x as much work between FF12 and the rest of them
So how does this work? FF7 (the original) looks like trash by modern standards and must have cost 10% of XVI to make, yet sold several million more copies than XVI. How does one justify this to shareholders without admitting that they were just a much better company before now?
shareholders just look to the future. as long as your predicted quarterly looks better than the current one you can keep the ruse going.
VII didn't even hit 15 million copies until the last decade anon
Games back then didn't sell nearly as much as you think, especially successful jrpgs
>Covid is back and people are more worried about health than games
>Economic recessions in many countries effects video games sales, but we're ahead of the curve
>The PS5 has a smaller install-base, it is important to see that number in relation to our sales
>war in Ukraine has made players worried
There are always a million good excuses you can give shareholders.
Yes, but then you look at all the other games that did better. Truth most people are overlooking is money Sony gave them for exclusivity covered god knows how many sales.
>covid is back
It never left. Media just stopped fearmongering over it because Ukraine because the new fearmonger and plebs forgot about it. Now that ukraine and the isreal x hamas thing is winding down the media is trying to bring covid back again.
>shareholders
Dude, birthrates dropped, zoomers prefer other games now too. Not to mention most jrpg players are too old now or just replaced a jrpg with a gacha
Unless FF16 had a $500M development budget, it was not 10% of XVI to make.
cope
>Remember when FF7, 8 and 9 all came out in like a 4/5 year period?
We didn't know how good we had it. All those games were loved on release (even 8, arguably the black sheep of the bunch) and we'll never see their like again.
In my head, literally all SE need to do is to make FF17 a turn-based game with a bunch of characters moving over a hand-drawn backgrounds and a good story. Frick, with modern technology this shouldn't even be particularly hard. FF arguably needs to be scaled down, but the investors won't like that and the investors are all that matter.
>even 8, arguably the black sheep of the bunch
8 was better than 9 and I am tired of pretending otherwise.
>make FF17 a turn-based game with a bunch of characters moving over a hand-drawn backgrounds and a good story
they tried with octopath
it doesn't work because someone had the genius idea to make pixelshit over unreal engine lightning, which is jarring.
They don't want to make good story anymore, all they can do is to ape modern licences like game of thrones or remake kingdom hearts again
I think the problem SE have is that they keep having stories developed in-house. And there's far too little talent in-house for them to keep doing that. The company needs fresh blood, someone who's actually good at writing and has a bunch of fascinating and interesting never-before-seen ideas in his head.
are you hinting that SE should try to renew themselves like in the times where they used fresh blood o create some of the most recognizable licences of video games ever made and get a new golden age of reputation, recognition and monetary gains?
nah mate, this would imply they need to take risks, here, release an AI upscaled NES game for 60$, this will fix everything
>release an AI upscaled NES game for 60$
They had try outs for new blood, but I guess those never went anywhere.
Well...

Bravely Default came out 12 years ago
Didn't go those guys go onto make all the HD-2D stuff?
I'd say those are in a decent enough place, do well enough compared to the budgets and the fans of their stuff seem to mostly like them.
Thankfully they have Sony there to make everything better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwUcv65330g
the sony/SE relationship is abusive at this point, I don't know how executives keep thinking CoD/fifa players will ever want to try games with swords and magic, why do they do this?
>why do they do this?
The thinking is 'old fanbase + fifa/madden/cod/fortnite fans = $$$'
The misunderstanding comes from them thinking the old fans won't move on if they keep being pushed to the side so the company can attract those new fans.
Reminder that Square is so moronic that they tried to demand money to release new stuff to Xbox, Microsoft told them to frick off and instead went to Atlus and made the same overnight change to Persona as they did with Yakuza. The new CEO had to rush to get Phil Spencer on board with a renewed support for the XIV festival.
They were right. Sony is paying top dollar for exclusives right now.
>literally who
problem is your bravely default, triangle strategy, lost sphear, etc are utterly uninspired games where devs from obvious inspirations and tried to recreate those. that's not how you get new amazing titles.
>bravely default, triangle strategy
I enjoyed both of these thoroughly. Don't know what you're talking about.
Your taste is not the subject here, anon. They're alright games, but there's nothing fresh to them to become the new foundation of the company the way FF or DQ did back in the day.
the problem is the audience prefers to complain and chartpost.
Turn based gays always act like it's just that simple all the while ignoring the turn based games that they're still releasing. Octopath 2 has been getting accolades left and right and yet it bombed really badly.
SE is getting mixed signals from its community so I don't blame them for wanting to move on from turn based. But then again, most turn based fans have moved on and now play Atlus, RGG, and/or Falcom games.
>most turn based fans have moved on and now play Atlus
EO remake flopped, soul hackers 2 flopped. p5t flopped, and metaphor will flop
>RGG
LOL
yea it just contains hours upon hours of recycled dialogue instead
Haha, how come 7R just barely outdid a fricking Yakuza game?
how long was yakuza exclusivity
Free on Game Pass.
It launched a year earlier on egs. Pretty funny how hard people shilled 7shit saying "you can le play it first!" And it still barely sold shit lol
smt5 and xenoblade flopped too
Because Jarpigs are a meme. They either went full coomer gacha or just enjoy trashing jrpgs more
>Honestly, does ANYONE as Square Enix know what people want in a Final Fantasy anymore?
They never really did and simply had better developers working on them. Keep in mind FF was always bound by nebulous ideas like "themes and mood" than anything mechanical.
Reminder that square soft is the talented one.
Square enix is complete rubbish.
Use the popular name of a famous franchise to kickstart a completely unrelated money printer in the AAA sphere.
>turn a big name of an RTS game into a much more profitable MMORPG giant
But they've already done that with 14.
14 only beat WoW when WoW is at its lowest point.
You completely forgot how gargantuan WoW is at its peak with its 12million subscriber.
>WoW is at its peak with its 12million subscriber
So about what FF14 is doing now then?
At its peak, WoW had about 12 million players daily. FF14 peaked at about 3 million.
nobody gives a shit about "beating wow".
SE is made of moronic people, that's all there is to it
XIV prints money though. They can't be that bad.
just write Square Enix + Not Meeting Expectations on google.
Case in point, it prints money but not enough
The company not meeting demands does not mean XIV is failing.
The claim wasn't even that XIV is failing. Stop getting triggered.
The claim is that SE's expectations and aspirations are fricking insane.
They're doing it again with FF7
that's what I've been saying, it's all executives moronation
>this game only sold this much, disappointing
In a way this is smart approach because you're tempering the shareholders who are constantly expecting higher and higher figures. Don't oversell what you have.
>In a way this is smart approach because you're tempering the shareholders
Yeah, this strategy is working, obviously.
I know almost 100% of public announcements are for shareholders, but claiming every single product you release is a dumpster fire has its limits
It's literally going back up though.
>announced eos for another mobile game
Not for long
>the MMO-troon fears reality
Well
Its obvious SE has been trying to make movies since 10. Just look at how much work they put into the visuals rather than anything else. Visuals are movie tier while the gameplay has been dogshit continuously.
>Yes, but it's a WoW-clone made for furgays ERP sessions with the Final Fantasy name on it for no reason.
t-thank you FF10
This is a kino design
Yeah, and they are the main source of furgays in xiv
there are more furgay character designs in WoW then in FFXIV so I don't really get where you getting at.
I heard this directly from Wada."
>remaster
Kino
>why yes I am a moronic homosexual how could you tell
FFX and Kingdom Hearts were some of the last big games they released under the Squaresoft name. Square Enix very close to those so it's easy to get confused.
>Something snapped in SE around FF10
uematsu and sakaguchi left the company, and the rest is history. lost odyssey was the last real FF game.
>Something snapped in SE around FF10
You mean squaresoft? The company that went bankrupt due to incompetent leadership despite making the greatest jrpgs ever? Yeah, something did snap. They became square enix and have been garbage ever since.
>Something snapped in SE around FF10
I swear to god Spirits Within was great at everything except actually being an interesting movie. It was the age old "what if FF cinematics were a movie?" answered and it blew my mind back in the day.
>Yes, but it's a WoW-clone made for furgays ERP sessions with the Final Fantasy name on it for no reason.
Looks like that's what FF is now.
FF needs to go back to its 4 homies in a row origin
it's the only way
>gachaslop
it's all so tiring
Sorry. I meant $60, please.
Octo is cool but it's not FF
>Octo is cool but it's not horseshit
Good?
old FF was good, which is what we should be getting
How old we talking about?
gameplay wise 97 to 03
Did you know Kitase originally wanted FFX to not be CTB and that was the result of falling behind schedule so they had to put something together quickly to hit deadlines?
and they made a masterpiece in the process without learning anything from it
a tragic tale
FFX derailed and destroyed the entire series.
that was FFXIII with its engine problems and FFXIV with its almost company destroying launch
Not when FFX removed overworld maps, pre-rendered backgrounds, and added voiced dialogue.
I was so disappointed when I realized the "airship" was just fast travel
ive tried to play through ffx 2 or 3 times and each time ive quit when i get the airship
>Not when FFX removed overworld maps
it still had a map in the airship and i agree it would've been nice to have an overworld map once the game opens up and you unlock it. but i guess it wasn't worth it resource wise as for most of the main story you are on a pilgrimage where exploring random places would've made no sense.
>removed pre-rendered backgrounds,
they didn't, those are still in FFX. maybe they just stood out to you less as its a PS2 game now
>and added voiced dialogue.
this is a good thing, well i guess it's preference but X's voice acting added to its emotional scenes and while some people might not like the EN VA i think the JP is good.
tldr, the overworld map i agree with but i also see why it was cut. FF didn't derail from this
I'm playing Ys VIII, it's crazy how good this game is compared to thrash like 7 Remake, XV...
I know this is bait, but at least the town building was decent enough to make me not fall asleep
Honestly I might have been fine with it if it hadn't usurped the Final Fantasy VII Remake concept. I'll never not be mad.
Final Fantasy needs parties back and more importantly needs the freak party members back. The last FF game to have a non-human party member (no the dog in FF16 doesn't count, it's just a dog) was FF10, aka the last good one
wait, are you talking about kimahri?
needs more variety again, and job system back.
this is why japs say saga is better. can't wait for emerald beyond to make a party with hijab gril and a 'literal' tank
Guys like Khimari and Quina? Nobody ever uses them.
wasnt quina one of the strongest characters?
khimari was ok if you dumped enough skills into him i think but ff10 is an abomination anyways and the sphere grid is garbage
>YoshiP is the future.
Yoshitrans straight up not welcome.
This. I actually enjoyed Remake, but once they revealed the towers and question marks all over an empty-ass map I lost all interest in Rebirth.
I'm all for Square implementing new ideas, but FFVII Remake left a bad taste in my mouth.
no one cares
ff16 was shit and is already completely COMPLETELY forgotten
ff7r will also be shit but will have its dehydrated wiener sucked by millions upon millions of morons over the years
>millions upon millions of morons over the years
didn't the 1st remake only 5 million or so?
>zoomers are incapable of understanding numerical terminology
so shocked
FFXVI wasn't shit, it was just remarkably average after they killed off Cid./spoiler] Clive is a decent enough protag but not as the sole character in the party (Jill barely counts.) The first 5-10 hours were pretty strong but then it just got boring as frick. Felt like a huge missed opportunity.
It can't be that hard to just create a compelling setting. FF1-12 did a decent enough job of making me want to keep playing because I cared about the characters and the setting, but since then it's just been a frickin snorefest.
Hmm I wonder if this is going to be spammed to the same degree XVI's preorder numbers were
The XVI spamming was fueled by Barry. Which is an insanely autistic force awake day and night digging for this type of shit. And Barry likes FF7R.
>Barry likes FF7R
wtf why? doesn't he hate any non-Tabata FF since 15 came out? or is it just 14-16 cuz of Yoshi-P?
He can't stand YoshiP but he enjoys Nomura's wiener in his mouth. He shilled KH3 like crazy.
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/463263234/#q463276226
Barry please
Why does Barry enjoy FFXV so fricking much? It's more out my personal curiosity out of anything. The game's story is split into different types of media which even then tells an incoherent story, the gameplay is probably the worst. Combat is clunky, open world feels empty, assets being reused over and over. The one thing I will give it credit is the music. Other than that it's nothing worth dying for.
Enjoying a clunky game isn't bad, it's good even.
He's just an unhinged madman, that's all there is to it, he can't accept that something he likes isn't the definition of perfection
Eh, these days if someone played the royal edition or whatever it's called, totally divorced from the Versus XIII stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if they found it fun.
XV would have been perfect if the young Noctis portion was like 1/5 of the story and the rest is adult Noctis. Noctis marries Luna at the end of the young chapter and the rest of the game, she's part of your party.
They pooped to goose
they had a "multimedia franchise" pipe dream for 15. it didn't work for .hack, it wasn't going to work for a franchise within a franchise.
Eh, with Ultima, 16 taught me that giving a boring character more screentime isn't gonna help them.
doesn't really matter if it's boring for an outsider. at that point you're already invested
jrpgs are plagued with boring characters, but they are rpgs, the player is supposed to fill the personality gaps, and having a good cohesive and engaging story makes it easier
That's how I played it and I didn't think it was good. The combat system just isn't fun and the plot is a bizarre Frankenstein mess. I couldn't believe it when one of the main villains died offscreen and I heard about it on the radio.
He didnt, he actually forced a war between DMCV and KH3 and he was bootlicking dmc5gays so they shill his shitty game
Before yoshida every other ff thread was full of him seething about Nomura
Bro he despises normura. Nomura is the original and final arch nemesis to FFXV due to the FFXIII Versus background. He just has a legit homosexual fixation on yoshida
Like we know Barry faps to troony porn and incest porn, we know he’s abo. Yoshi probably looks like a asiatic version of his mom
vs13 would have been so much better than the boys go on a car trip and fishing simulator that peaks immediately (pic rel)
Barry doesnt like ff7r, it makes him seethe less, but if ff16 didnt exist he would be spamming against rebirth like he did with FF7R
It's been really quiet on the Barry front after Tabata called XVI his goty lmao
Are rebirth fans going around saying that XVI is the new elden ring and is going to beat TOTK?
The xvi Black folk were talking a lot of shit before release
people posting the preorders don't realize that the problem isn't the games, it's the console.
EVERY PS5 game have terrible preorders
compare to ps4 or ps3 games.
Japs in general just aren't really fan of the PS5.
Everything I have seen from Rebirth looks like xvi open world garbage but worse.
>F7R2 is pre-ordering worse than XVI
Who cares?
Also pre-ordering is stupid and people shouldn't do it, so this is a good thing.
The only real issue with preorders is that publishers like to lock content behind bonuses but it's usually pretty much just early cheat items or aesthetic crap that add nothing of value but again, it costs nothing to do and takes like 2 seconds to cancel.
didn't the phone game lose all it's players too
It shouldn't have had any to begin with
If SE panicked over XVI's preorder number, their golden goose dying must be catastrophic.
still no source on square "panicking" over pre-orders btw
they did panic because ff16 flopped and is the lowest selling FF in history
>its another xvitroon thinks everything is their boogeymen episode
Hey BARRY what do you think of tabata praising FF16?
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/463263234/#q463270932
>hfw he got out while the going was good
If there's a single defining point FF went to shit it was when Sakaguchi left.
It was all down hill after he left. Nomura has been a wrecking ball to the series.
I'm never going to stop arguing that letting Nomura off the tard-leash was a dumb idea. He's a great concept artist, but he can't write to save his life.
Yeah he's like Kojima and Inafune, he needs tard wranglers to reel him in.
It feels like Sakaguchi's main role at Square/SE towards the end was as a tardwrangler.
Nojima lore with Nomura chuuni kino
morons.
Nomura wasn't really in charge of anything FF but Versus XIII though until VII-R, wasn't he? And even that was him trying to tardwrangle Nojima and Kitase. I'm pretty sure people are just witch hunting at this point.
>produce massive movie bomb
>get fired after ff12 and the merger
>for most people it is the last good ff in nearly 20 years
>SE cant produce anything decent inhouse since u left
>You sadly fail yourself as well
Sadly Sakaguchi is a broken lonely old guy that misses the past just as much as us. Thats why he basically spends all his free time on ff14 and praises every turd SE releases in hopes of getting a call to return to the production of it. Next on the list is Final Shooter 17.
>Final Shooter 17
I'm just here for the trashfire at this point.
If they make a shooter out of it it would at least be interesting, as opposed to another attempt at aping FF7
So would spells be our guns or grenades?
I mean, they got halfway there at one point.
Except Lost Odyssey is better than any post XII final fantasy game. The only real problem is that his latest game is fricking apple store exclusive.
even then it was a total wildcard
>blue dragon
>last odyssey
>the last story
The lowest metacritic score for those three games is lost odyssey at 78. Sakaguchi has never been involved with a particularly bad game.
>Lost Odyssey score is actually lower than Blue Dragon
Jesus fricking Christ, I already knew metacritic was a joke, but come the frick on
well lost odyseey is a worse game than blue dragon so it makes sense... dont know why that is confusing for you.. are you stupid?
they were warned about the sequel drop off and they didn't listen. i'll buy it but nowhere near me lets me preorder online so i'll probably pick it up day one.
>makes his quintillion dollar movie with steve buscemi
>gets fired
>makes lost odyssey
god
It's not that he left while the going was good, it's that he left without leaving a suitable successor that understood why people liked the previous Final Fantasy games.
The first one sucked shit and I regret wasting time on it
>COMG pre-orders
Remember what happened with Fire Emblem Engage
No one wants to remember anything that happened with engage
I still kinda can't believe they went from Three Houses to Engage. What a step down, holy shit.
Only in story/characters/aesthetic
The gameplay is better and the maps/map variety are light years ahead of 3H.
You have to understand that development for Engage started before 3H was even released.
Engage wasn't really a follow-up to 3H, it was a follow-up to Fates.
Can't wait to see this garbage come to PC
I'll never understand developer logic when it comes to some things. Like fetch quests. NO ONE likes those. Why even have them? Just to pad out the game? This isn't like FF7R when they stretched out a five hour section into 30+ hours.
Likely time restraints and like you said padding out time and then brag about the game having a lot of "content".
Remember when jrpg sidequests were few but massive and organically integrated in the world and accessible after the first and second thirds of the game instead of mmo shopping list tier "kill 20 rats, bring me 15 mcguffins and defeat this reskinned boss" grindfricks?
I remember.
I do. Although to be fair they largely existed to be incentives so you'd buy Strategy Guides because some were obtuse as frick.
Want to know a modern JRPG that doesn't contain a single fetch quest within the dozens of side quests that it has?
A little game called Persona 5.
Yeah but those games suck.
>doesn’t contain a single fetch quest
But the main thing is to steal (fetch) the heart of bad guys
Yea, but only Atlus can make games like and only one team in Atlus can do it that AND it takes 8 years or so to do it.
Social links and stat raising activities are about as boring as side quests.
>constant handholding
SE knows the snoyggers very well.
You don't understand. Most players got into gaming with PS3/360. FF13 clouded their judgement on what FF is supposed to be. Than 15 happened muddying the waters even further. 16 is something utterly unfamiliar to them as FANTASY as such was never really there.
>muh pre-orders
WHEN I SAY FF XVI YOU SAY SORRY
FF XVI
SORRY!
japanese have shit taste with their handheld obsession
if switch 2 is powerful enough and gets the modern ff games you will see them buying millions again
If a Mainline FF was on a Nintendo system it would mean Square finally not putting graphics and visuals as the most important part of the series.
But thats the most important part of the series
Hm, really depends on the game.
Will it be the last time Sony will give SE timed exclusivity bucks considering the Activision deal?
That whole thing is a huge concern to both Sony and SE
They'll just prostitute out for whoever gives the huge munny between EGS or Xbox.
We all know who wins
Didn't they already give Epic timed exclusitivity several times?
Please fricking god let it flop this stain on my childhood should not exist
i dont know how many times I gotta tell you "I do not own a ps5" and yes I played og ff7 a billion times so, get on with the pc port.
Good, ff troons deserve to lose
It'll shoot up when a demo is available, get your meds
>ps5 exclusive
yeah, I can see why
its almost as if they alienated their fanbase in search of infinite growth and now pay the tax.
>it's another "bazzkek falseflags as a fanboy from either side to pit them against each other" episode
Do you acknowledge that there's something wrong with you for saving this image to your device?
Imageboard, but i can see why you'd so easily rattled.
real talk also, have we seen Cid gameplay yet, or Vincent for that matter, or Cait Sith? is gold saucer going to be DLC?
releasing on ps4, but not including yuffie dlc, then moving the rest to PS5 while everyone is still on ps4 / finally went to pc, is like shooting yourself in the legs repeatedly but I guess im not the target audience anymore. perhaps I never was. (90s as kid all games are edgy "adult" gore stuff. didnt care played it anyway, watched terminator before I was 18 too. become adult, "games are for kids" that'll be 500 bucks and 80 per game (was 10 back when.))
This is the special kind of moron that tells you remake is bad
I didnt say that
new threat is better than remake though, unironically. remake feels like fanfic or like its been put through nomuras kingdom hearts story logic. (fricking time ghosts)
>new threat is better than remake
No one alive can refute this.
I mean I really don't want to overhype a fan game but I truly enjoyed it so far, im up to junon.
I can.
Yeah the anti-Barry gay is just as if not even worse the original Barry was.
>the anti-Barry gay
my only complaint with ff15 is its a fishing simulator and how dare you call me the anti barry what the frick.
60% of ff7r2 is made from reused assets unlike ff16 which took 8 years to make everything from scratch
yet ff16 is barely doing any better than 7r2
Source?
Damn ff16 killed ff so hard its affecting future ff games now...
XVI won because it has cute men kissing.
Wtf?
It flopped cuz it didn't have an explicit gay sex scene.
you're baiting, but we all know SE shat the bed with their fFabula Nova Crystallis project since 13.
they bite more than they could chew
That was ffxv
Didn't you gays keep insisting that XVI had low preorder numbers back then because there are millions of people who would rather preorder for Rebirth as soon as it opens up?
This indian fricktard really likes clashing people together isn't he.
Add turn-based combat and I'll buy your game.
>VII R Part 1 the only non-nintendo game in the top 30
>MMO-gays seething
Simply KINO
>Butchered the classic world map for another Ubitrash open world clone
Good
Just make a FF game with the Job system again you absolute fricking morons
They did, but you didn't buy it. Now you will have Nomuraslop.
FF7R will be the greatest JRPG experience of all time. Nomurakino incoming, a new dawn
Undeniable truth
I don't get it, what do the points mean?
I miss when Final Fantasy wasn't just MMOs and action games.
It peaked with 8.
even you don't believe that
Why would I say something I do not believe in?
A common coping mechanism, ff8 is forever in the shadow of ff7
7 got tainted by all the stuff that came after it while 8 is still pure.
Looks like scalpers and dudebros don't actually play videogames
Amazing strategy making it a timed exclusive on a dead console, FF7R3 never because this one will flop
No one scalpes individual video games. People scalp hardware.
Yes anon that's what the post says
Most purchased PS5s still aren't connected to PSN
You gays can argue all you want. Nothing will stop me from playing every single FF as long as they come to PC.
If you let Ganker to warp your perception and cripple your decisions, you are a weak minded fool.
>162 / 35 / 52
It's a Barry thread alright.
im laughing. KNEEL TO FF16 CHADS.
Just wait until they ruin dragon quest next. Can’t wait for DQXII’s “gritty, dark, and more realistic tone” with “a big shake-up to the gameplay” 🙂
Can't wait. It will be the first interesting game in the series.
Current Status
>The newest expansion for FFXIV Dawntrail is coming up real fast, releasing in Summer 2024! The next FFXVI DLC is also in development along with the PC version. CBU3 has a ton of things we’re working on, so keep a close eye on us!
so cbu3 is making ff17?
Ishikawa was probably roped into writing 17 right after shb blew up, assuming she's not doing something for the mushroom man
Explains a fair deal about EW being the half-assed rehash it was if she was doing more supervisory work than actual writing
I wouldn't be surprised if they've pushed an initiative to remake more games after VIIR either, and spreading them out between divisions would make sense, especially if they already moved luminous' charred remains to CBU2 for DQ12 codemonkey work (they're probably working on that new Mana game as well). I would expect CBU3 to be contributing heavily to any pre-7 remakes since they've basically been using them as storyboard material for 14 the whole time
>japan only
irrelevant
Dawntrail is going to flop super hard. I’ve never seen more disinterest in an expansion from an mmo community before.
careful, moron.
don't monkeypaw it too hard or blizz will die for real this time
blizzard is already dead
>game doesn't have as much paid shilling as the last wow patch so no one cares
>the team got pulled out for ff16
>less and less content over time
>the main story is finished and they try to advertise this expansion as a downtime for a new big bad (it still costs as much as the previous expansion)
>new race, that will most likely be unable to use helmets
>anything that isn't a FATE farm or the main story ends up being a failure
it's set up to fail
everyone who got pulled for XVI has been gone since stormblood started development
The XVI team literally left 3 expacs ago moron. The game has been missing them longer than it had them
>marketing wise
Schizophrenic shitposters obsessed with patch content in a game that has had maybe a single jack shit more than the bare minimum for patch content for it's entire existence are not a marketing concern
>less and less content over time
content doesn't really disappear with each new expansion, you're thinking in other mmo
>new race, that will most likely be unable to use helmets
and fantasia will be bought by the dozen, limsa will be femhroth central
female hroths are more of an obligation than a race release. just like male vieras were. the real meat is on the new jobs, just like in Endwalker
also, anything related to story is complete elucubration. EW patches were marketed as a "comfy vacation" time with some adventuring and you ended up fighting zeromus in the 13th. No one can really tell for certain what will happen. You'd think morons would learn after Zodiark, but here we are again
You could have just posted that without the cat image
that's how femhroth will look like
How much do the troons at Blizzard pay you?
>1% lower
ITS OVER FINAL FANTASY IS FINISHED
I will not pay 80€ for a fricking videogame
Sony can fricking die
All square had to do was remake ff7. Instead we got slop. People are deluded into thinking rebirth was gonna do well.
A remake would flop hard, no one would care after part1
Should have never have been parts to begin with. 90% of the content in remake was slop.
we'll never know because you won't make a 1:1 remake despite thats what everyone actually asked for for about 20 years.
Literally this. FF7R is full slop, and FF7R2 is going to be worse.
and it'll sell great
cause it's FF7
>pre-order numbers already saying otherwise
It won't even do 40% of what remake did.
It will sell well get goty and you will continue to dilate
This, the gameplay in remake was already 9/10, now with improvements and added party members it's easy 10/10.
Expanded character relations and affinity
Iconic locations Cosmo Canyon, Gold Saucer, Nibelheim, Temple of the Ancients, Junon, Kalm, Forgotten Capital.
So much to do
Part2 will be the best part of the trilogy
You didn't mention the best location
>B cup Tifa
preorder numbers are just one indicator, and not the best one
only sure thing is, you'll be seething
The fun part is that this should be totally expected. I'm not surprised the pre-orders are rough because a.) it's a fricking sequel, those always have issues maintaining numbers since you either raise or lower depending on the reception to the previous game, and b.) it's a sequel to a "remake" that already had a rather mixed response. No matter how vocal the Youtube and Twitch hype can be about their nostalgia for a game that's 26 years old, the reality is the fricking time jannies and Rebuild of Evangelion bait with alternate timelines has made a lot of people cautious and confused.
ff7 was already schizo-kino but even ignoring that you forgot point 3, PS5 exclusive.
i said it a couple weeks ago about how FF is already anime as frick, and 7 was pretty much sharing the Evangelion era frickery with 8. in a way, remake being Rebuild is fitting, it's just no one but handfuls of "but i don't want the exact same game" rejecters wanted it to BE Rebuild. and yeah, that's also a kick in the shin, PS5 games still are in an awkward space where they just simply aren't the biggest profit makers solely due to how awkward the install base for the console is after the early scalping and so many wondering if there's a point to the upgrade.
the problem is, I don't want one unless I can port ALL my games from ps4 at a minimum, for free (no) and on top of that my toaster pc is already better than a ps5, upgrading my GPU would shit all over current consoles. so, there is no point.
except jesus isn't posting here 24/7 about things he hate and how much of a fail they are just to be proven wrong and make a fool of himself day after day
your mom is slop
>Get a remake that actually pushes the media forward, doesn't replace the og and makes the already loved characters even better
>NOOOO IM LE ANGRY
Not to mention:
>is worse than the original in every thinkable way
>thinkable
The word you’re looking for is “conceivable”. I think you need to stop worrying about video games, and go back to first grade english.
>the only way FF7Rgays can reply is to correct grammar
Don’t write like a moron, and people might, MIGHT, take your shitposting more seriously. I’m trying to help you, big guy.
I am on my knees. XVI WON!
>People buy the first one thinking it's a remake
>It's actually some weird sequel
>People lose interest and preorders for the second one plummets
lol
We are entering in an economic downturn. Its normal people cut expenses, because there are less money available.
yes thats what I said I dont own a PS5 and the economy is crashing so I doubt I will.
XVI could have been a PS4 title with pre rendered cutscenes and would've been a bigger success.
>We are entering in an economic downturn.
>everything is fine.jpg says the government right before an election season
lol
lmao
I can smell the damage-control shills ITT. Your shit is not working.
>Another PS5 exclusive
SE just doesn't learn from its past mistakes.
New ceo at least tried to reduce the exclusivity tome with rebirth
Cope. God of War 2 sold 17m.
>cross-gen game
So? Sony will just make 7R3 backwards compatible with PS5.
>and other lies you can tell yourself
Man sucks to be poor, glad I got a ps5 and a pc to play all video games
I mean its difficult to predict the future. I think a lot of people would have said PS5 would be successful pre pandemic and its likely these exclusivity contracts would have been signed then. With a new CEO and the fallout from this sort of thing they'll probably be less likely to pull this shit again unless they get a sweeter deal. If they don't they deserve the shit thrown at them.
the PS5 is a success though, its outselling the PS4 in the same timeframe.
To be fair, the PS5 is selling well, it's just that the people who buy it are playing the same handful of live service games/franchisees.
No shit. It is their fatal mistake.
is anyone like me and waiting a few more years when all the remake games drop and then play them all at once?
Probably gonna be a game bundle with all the games when PS6 launches
Me, I’m not playing and playing for one third of a game
I'm still waiting for a single legitimate remake game, but I played Remake.
Your proper remake, which still cuts smaller scenes and world exploration out for a "greatest hits" of the plot, is a fricking gacha game.
Maybe you boomers should just accept that no one under the age of 30 cares about your ancient dead franchise
It will most likely end up on the same ballpark as 16. Same thing happened with 14 and 7 Remake.
Why is that chart implying that XIII did anything close to 15m?
Nah, I'll just play New Threat, pass on modern SE.
>Fan fiction good
Better than 7R.
based NT enjoyer. It's unironically the best way to replay FF7 imo
Reminder that this is a Flaseflag shitpost by Barry.
He is trying to get XVI and 7Rebirth fans to fight.
He has been caught doing this in the past
God it's always great watching him get completely rekt.
Guess he automatically assumes everyone is a poorgay like him and are forced to only like one game at a time. I would pity him if he wasn’t such a Black person
It's a fricking console exclusive what do you expect?
and 16 was ps5 exclusive. whats your point, moron?
I hate what they are doing with the story but I love the combat, so I'm definitely buying it. I just hope they give us some insane difficulty settings. FF7R's Hard difficulty was quite good with item restrictions and stuff but I'm hoping for a little more to make all the min-maxing and optimizations worth it. Not to mention this time around we got more party members.
not surprising since FF16 at least looked interesting while rebirth is generic waifu shit.
its literally the same
Sony has been actively alienating its weeb audience since the PS3 days. Frick Sony and frick California tranniestate.
>instead of fully embracing a multiplatform approach with PC as its primary platform, as Capcom did.
And? MHW was more succesful thanks to PC
MHW didn't launch day one on PC.
I really liked FF7R and I'm buying a PS5 for FF7R2. I hope there's a bundle deal.
>Needs to wait until this specific day since 7reb was actually doing better up to this point
It really do be like that
The autism around FF is truly fascinating
Jarpigs really only care about FF
I've noticed a weird trend where the only threads that actually talk about Final Fantasy are the ones about FF8. Every other thread is either dedicated to shitting on a game or salesgayging. Only FF8 invites any actual discussion.
VIIIchads love their game that's why.
Based.
If FF8 is so good, how come I can't be arsed to play past its intro?
People who talk about FF8 may have wildly different opinions about what's going on, but FF8 fans recognize each other and enjoy reflecting with each other even if they don't directly agree.
Don't worry, they'll eventually remake the game and ruin any possible discussion. Enjoy them while it lasts.
Square doesn't care about it though.
I always find it ironic that's the third most sold FF game.
Its not ff only, there is a group of xenotrannies derailed other JRPG games to sales shit
>SMTroon for anything atlus does
>tendies for FF, Falcom, or any other weeb game
Currently playing 8 remastered on PS4 and I am having fun the aspect ratio sucks though.
Cause no one cares about FF8 except for FF8gays.
Always loved that scene. Then when Zell gets reprimanded he goes into overdrive on the push-ups.
I never noticed Zell looked too lmao.
Library girl in shambles
what the frick is that don't? also, is this someone's attempt at a more "accurate" translation? it reads stiff as shit somehow
I think the only jrpg guys that i havent seen shitposting in FF threads are Fire Emblem players.
What about FF12?
FF16 shitted and flopped so badly that the Yoshi-Piss shills went straight back to shill their queer WoW MMO instead.
Barry won
Can we stop pretending that the problem wasn't PS5 exclusivity?
barry lost again
he most likely killed himself:P
Isn't it $70 USD
Why would I preorder that shit at that price
16 was the best in the series since 10, but that's not saying much since it's been a total shitshow that whole time. 7R2 will sell alright but not great, SE will panic, 17 will be another MMO (not based on 16/7R2 sales, already been the plan for a long time) but do worse than 14 and panoc more, 18 will be their last chance to use that panic and right the ship.
I didn't buy FF16 until 2 days before release. Same goes for Rebirth. FF16 is the worst game in the series, however, and I want my time back. Keep the money.
When will SE realize that PS5 exclusivity is fricking stupid
>singleplayer game
>first one was on PS+
Why would you buy it for 100+$ when you can just wait a year and get it for 10$?
why buy it on ps5 when PC is 3 months away.
No one wants to touch more ff slop after ff16 was one of the biggest disappointment of the year
>PS5 exclusive
there's your problem
>PS5 exclusive
>First game was sold on a lie and is a Reimagining and lying pisses people off
>It's not a remake which is what people wanted
>the memes surrounding it with ubisoft towers and other shenanigans
You know what's the funny part? The most damning part of the above issues is that it's PS5 exclusive.
>First game was sold on a lie and is a Reimagining and lying pisses people off
>It's not a remake which is what people wanted
This right here. They even made the boxart very reminiscent of the original FF7 boxart. Also nobody is going to "triple dip" in this when they know it's not really a remake of FF7 and they expected it all to be on Remake in the first place. I have no idea why Square Enix thought this was a good idea.
>First game was sold on a lie and is a Reimagining and lying pisses people off
it's basically FF7 the twin snakes edition
>the twin snakes
Man I am so happy I never touched that game.
I've played it once on dolphin many years ago just to see how mgs would look with mgs2 assets but yeah the game was even worse than I could ever imagine. it's actually much worse and infinitely more offensive to original than what ff7r ended up being. almost feels like a parody made by a kojima hater.
>with some dumb matrix-like scenes
these cutscenes are the soul of the original game, you don't mess with that and live
Not really. Twin Snakes is still the original story with some dumb matrix-like scenes, that Kojima ironically put into MGS4 himself. 7R is taking the story itself in a different direction.
I preordered Granblue Relink instead, cuz FF7 Rebirth isn't on PC. The PS5 fricking sucks ass.
I don't even play Granblue but I'm interested in this game.
Mostly because I fricking love Djeeta.
>avoiding all the terrible nip players by playing on PC instead of Playstation
I thought granblue was a fighting game.
Granblue is also a Fall Guys clone.
So is re-link like an action game? I might look into it then.
I dunno, but it looks fun.
Looks fun, would be nice it was a dungeon looter like PSO/PSU but I doubt it.
Is this multiplayer?
Yes, it has a co-op mode.
noice finally what gbf should have been
Yes, it's an action game.
whenever i see relink footage it just looks like budget monhun, which i guess isn't terrible but it just makes me want to play monhun instead
It's because the multiplayer is Monhun with platinum games combat. But the boss battle mechanics seem like they came out of FF14.
sounds fun but also nothing special. kinda wish it would've been something more unique and impressive after so long
Well, it's their first console game. And as anime games go, this one looks really good especially with the effects and character animations. Especially one with Platinum combat, since Platinum games are always 12 hour experiences.
I'm just glad they didn't include a gacha or live service shit since Cygames is first a mobile game company before anything else.
>it just looks like budget monhun
I don't think you remember what monhun looks like.
not visually, i meant gameplay wise. like the desert boss looks like a budget diabolos. it's almost the exact same moveset but it looks like fighting it will be less satisfying than a mh diabolos
Yea, I don't see the similarities gameplay wise either.
>Karl Barx
heh
>it's an action game.
Should've been turn-based.
have a nice day
Rather upset there, actionslop enjoyer.
>i want every game to be a menu simulator
have a nice day
Times changed, 2022 boomer.
They're branching out. Think they're making a web browser game for it too.
>ARPG
Those are Diablo style games, weeb. You mean Action RPG.
Yeah that
But can I marry the dwarven women?
I feel kinda bad for granblue because these guys are making this game for 8 years only to release at the worst timing possible.
>FF16 flopped
>Rebirth flopping
>traditional turn-based JRPG soaring
Both FF16 and 7R sold more than that pixelslop, and those 4 million include all players, free Game Pass include. I played it on Game Pass and dropped it when I got to the pirate town. Octopath 2 did sell 1+ million, though.
What you should've posted is pic related. That's the best possible way to shit on FF16, whose directors insisted turn-based was dead. Meanwhile a turn-based game is GOTY, likely game of the decade.
>this topic isn't talking about the bestiality game, time to attempt to change it.
Go away.
>This is a schizo post.
I know. Many such cases.
>implying anyone uses BG3 genuinely
It's the most obvious shitposting polemic being used. No one cares about CRPGs being turn-based. This is a WEEB thread.
>It's the most obvious shitposting polemic being used
It is, but it's very effective.
Shitposting isn't effective if it's obvious.
>4 million "players"
Let me guess, was it on gamepass?
Yes. In the same way Death Stranding has 15 million players.
It is worth it 4 thousand gamepass coins.
It is actually very impressive when a game shows how many players it has.
Other terrible comparison because it is just accounts created in a free game
Did they ever tell the ACTIVE accounts?
>Did they ever tell the ACTIVE accounts?
Never
Reddit guys create random chars but SE never did it. As example, WOW has more than 100m "players".
>As example, WOW has more than 100m "players".
yep
Closest metric available to show active players is done from Lucky Bancho player census. SE doesn't release official active players
I never trust these kind of statistics from any online game as they always count any account made even if never logged in and it also counts bot accounts that get banned for botting and quickly get replaced by new accounts.
Is Ape the only comfy developer who doesnt need controversy shit to shill his game?
they announced last week that the game will be full of sidequests so I cancelled my pre-order
It amazes me it sells at all, but then again shit like COD has been receiving backlash around the same time and keeps selling gangbusters.
>literal troon
we know
>I never played a single FF game as far as I remember the series has been receiving negativity ever since the ps3 era
Great example of why your opinion shouldnt be considered.
and yet he's correct XII ended up starting the downward trend but 13 was when the series truly went downhill and never came back up for air
i pre ordered it
the trailers alone are already better than XVI as a full game
nomura sovl vs mmo slop
play FFX International on PS2
not the terribad remasters
enjoy it and move on from this dead franchise
Imagine not getting Rebirth. Kino guaranteed. Ending will be divisive, but the game will be 100% great
Its going to be hard for square to recover after the flop that was ff16
Why would you even preorder? I will buy and play it, but if I have to do it early to pre-download and play day one, it's going to be a couple of days earlier at best.
FF7R slop isnt as succesful as the Compilation sisters piss and scream it is.
Maybe there’s hope for gaming after all.
Ok nintendog
The tendie is right.
The damage yoshitp has done to the ff brand is irreversible
Why does Nomura keep shitting on FF16's failure? Doesn't it make SE and FF look bad?
SE is a mess, it's why other companies are catching up to them and making better JRPG's.
They even cripple their PC releases by putting them on the Epic Games Store, and they are stupid enough to not atleast ask for a Fortnite collab that would put Tifa in the mind of all zoomies out there.
>tfw no Tifa DMC-like
It's silly that the KH games are still locked to EGS almost two years later. Did Epic pay for the ports?
its amazing how Harada still refuses to put Tifa or Kiryu in tekken
Kiryu never hits women.
Tifa is going to be DLC for T8.
>it's why other companies are catching up to them and making better JRPG's.
Kind of impossible to compete against gacha paypigs.
Yeah but Mihoyo games suck ass, and are only good to morons. They have some of the worst storytelling and character development in vidya.
MHY is winning, so people clearly like that kind of garbage.
So is Fifa and Cod. Doesn't change the fact that it's garbage.
He's desperately trying to get into the Final Fantasy Committee which is in charge of the series vision
Looking from the outside it does seem like SE lacks any sort of unified vision which pits guys like Nomura and Yoshi-P against each other despite both representing the same company and even the same franchise. They need to have Sakaguchi come back just to act like a therapist councilor.
Blame Kitase or Hashimoto before him. They're the ones in charge of FF the past 15 years.
But the Gayme awards asid it was the most hyped game of 2024?
Because that category conveniently excluded DD2 and they paid for an on stage theme song reveal to be in the show
>DD2
holy KEK
That game will be lucky to sell 500k in a year
If 16 was such a failure then why is it getting 2 DLCs? After they said there was no plans for it shortly before release?
You say it like Forspoken didn't get a DLC after release kek.
Forspoken was always planned to get dlc
3h dlc with 1 boss
10 bucks
it's damage control
FF XV - Episodes
FF XVI - Episodes
Same shit
The Saints Row reboot had an entire season of DLC, guess that means it sold millions and wasn't a total failure of a game that got the developers shut down.
DLC is not "hey our game is a success so lets make more content"
It's "let's cut content from the game and sell it later, oh also don't forget to not include that in the disc to avoid another SF X Tekken boycott"
>DLC is not "hey our game is a success so lets make more content"
>It's "let's cut content from the game and sell it later
You don't know how correct you are.
FF7R was so fricking terrible. 8 hours of my life wasted. I'm never picking up the worthless remakes ever again for this series.
Don’t care. Still buying.
>ff15 is a piece of shit
>final fantasy 7 re-tarded is a piece of shit
>flopspoken is a piece of shit
>final fantasy 16 is a piece of shit
people started noticing the square-enix logo.
Even Capcom had better haters.
pretty much this
square is not a strong studio anymore
Square doesn't exist anymore.
>no ultrawide support
>hdr is still broken
>dx12 enabled by default and is still broken
>dynamic resolution still enforced with no toggle
>ghost Black folk
I will not buy your game.
Is Ganker unironically advocating in favor of preorders now?
Final Fantasy as a video game franchise has been "failing" since X, and only had a minor uplift with 15. But of course, the new unreleased game is surely going to the flop that kills the franchise for good, because that's what generates the most bait
>Final Fantasy as a video game franchise has been "failing" outside of the MMOs
ftfy
>uplift with 15.
I wonder why journalists like Imran Khan who assured us he had sources about how Square was terrified about FF16 low preorder numbers not saying anything about Rebirth's current state?
He had a beef with Yoshida over 16's overly white setting. I'd imagine he'd want Rebirth to succeed since it has at least one black person in it.
