Remake FF8, but remove Rinoa and disk 3. And make the whole game about Laguna and Squall fixing the world through time travel/SeeD missions. Suddenly it's amazing.
It actually wouldn't as the lore of FF8 established that you cannot change time and that it is always a closed loop. If you went back in time to give your younger self a red hat for your 10th birthday in FF8 then that always happened according to the way time travel works in FF8. You can't actually change the past with time travel in FF8 lore. Everything is sort of set or preordained or whatever.
I still dont really even get what Ultimecia wanted to do exactly. Like why is she so evil? How far in the future is she from? Why couldn't people in the future just kill her?
>I still dont really even get what Ultimecia wanted to do exactly
she wanted to condense time into a single moment so everything and nothing would happen simultaneously. In simple terms, she was Chaos.
Everything would fall into Chaos. And everything would lose all meaning; or to say that the meaning would change every time because everything would happen at the same time.
Thematically, I would assume it's because she doesn't want to accept reality, so she wants to exist in a world that has no meaning, no cause and effect, no consequences. Or something like that, I'm still trying to figure it out fully, so I might be wrong.

I feel like she could just kill herself to accomplish the same goal
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? I wonder if that is something you can figure out in game by connecting certain dots a-AHHHHHHHH I'M SORRY IO:"M SORRY I:M SO SORRY TYOUTUBE ALGORTITHM DON"T @ ME I:"M SORTYRRU@!@!!!!!!!
>expecting Nojima writing to make sense
Ultimicia (and Adel and Rinoa and half the characters) were just tools to justify the plot they wanted. Basically, the team had come up with three different plots (SeeD, Laguna and the love story). And had to find some way to make them mesh together somehow. Hence, most of the ass pull that is Disk 3 and then Adel/Ultimecia, to justify the sorceress storylines since Edea's story ended in Disk 2.
So if time travel is pointless in FF8 does that mean that they didn't really accomplish anything at the end of the game? Like Ultimecia will appear in the world again when time actually gets to the point when she is actually born or what
Precisely (although not exactly pointless).
Macro-scale, FF8 is about the time loop that sealed away Sorceress powers and ended the Sorceress Wars.
Succession goes something like:
anyone here play Ragnarok Mod on hard mode?
how to I avoid becoming pic related?
i've just got to disc 3 and not sure if i'm ready to push for the end of the game, or if i should grind some lvls for a few hours first.
but the trash mobs are so fricking hard on their own a lot of the time, so island of hell/heaven is way out of my reach for now.
I'm not sure whether to consider 7 or 8 my first FF game. I watched my uncle play the bombing mission part of FF7 so that was my first exposure to FF but didn't play it myself until years later around the time Advent Children came out on dvd. FF8 I actually bought myself the year it came out and beat it.
the timeline shit they forced into FF7 would've fit 8 better
Even in 8 it was used in moderation. Time travel bs just makes everything worse.
It works thematically for FF.
That's what I said!

yeah i always felt like they shouldve spent more time on the disc 1 garden missions kind of thing.
FF8 is about allowing fate to happen to successfully close the loop. “Fated children”. It’d be even worse to do there.

It's wild that I can play it natively on my phone.
R = U
Squall is dead
ff5 mogs
Most people outside Japan don't actually play the good FF games (III, V and Theaterhythm). Just the ones with the most hype/marketing.
III is just ok
FF8 fans are hot.

What would that mean in practical terms though?
Everything would fall into Chaos. And everything would lose all meaning; or to say that the meaning would change every time because everything would happen at the same time.
What would she really gain from that though?
We dont know but she has nice breasts at least

Only the Warrior of Light can kill Chaos.
It is written.

ah yes, Final Fantasy VIII, my favorite Parasite Eve mod.
Ellone being Ultimecia makes more sense than Rinoa considering both of them are so obsessed with changing the past

Yes, it is the Final Fantasy for Artists and one of the only 3 Final Fantasy games worth mention. (VII, VIII, X)
