    >And in the end, the planet was saved by the magical powers of an ancient race of "chosen people" who control the very "life stream" of the planet
    Very powerful and relevant indeed.

But science didn't save the planet. The rocket bomb plan failed.

That was just the science of the Ancients

      That's because we sabotaged it.

translation of old ff7 (and older japanese vidya in general) was a messy practice. There is a fun series on youtube that goes into it by slowly retranslating ff7

I hope to god you're not referring to that kotaku one, because it's got nothing to do with FF7. By the halfway point it's all about the authors life and how he once lived in japan.

They ended up firing him over that series because he refused to stay on topic.

What, his personal experience is japan is just something he mentions throughout the videos. It's a very high quality series about ff7's translation. He left kotaku on his own, the series was beloved

I'd love to play a retranslated original 7 with more faithful translation.

It's not THAT bad. There's a few funny lines here and there and Cait Siths scene where it's revealed he's Reeve was rendered nonsensical because they removed his accent, but its not like anything plot critical was altered.

Isnt "beacause" exactly this? Theres even a rom with it hacked into ff7 on cdromance

Yeah it's pretty messy. Feels like outside of Midgar(d) alot of the mythological Norse stuff got accidentally glossed over.

Replace Force with Farce. Also I like how science is suddenly saving the planet after scientific breakthroughs being what caused the planet to be in any sort of danger (allegedly) to begin with but let’s just gloss over that part as well as wanting to tax everyone after getting rich off the automobile industry and Industrial Revolution in effect double dipping.

Cid was just explaining why he prefers man-made technology over magic, and how humans have basically created their own "magic" with science. It was a unique and interesting message considering this is a FF game.

Red XIII's synergy abilities seem to have an added bonus of increasing the limit gauge which sounds pretty nice. I hope Cait is going to have a similar theme that makes him worth using.

      Because you sabotaged it.
That whole sideplot didnt make sense.
      >Theyre gonna try to blow up the meteor with huge materia!
      >Thats bad for some reason, we need to steal the materia from the rocket.
      >Alright, we stole the materia. Lets hope the rocket works!
      >Damn, it didnt work. How could this have happened?

        >b-because you sabotaged it!
It always fails. You can fail to obtain any of the big Materia and it doesn't do shit. The only thing Shinra actually accomplishes is opening the way to Sephiroth
