I liked listening to MAI (in Japanese at least), but the open world stuff was getting pretty grating by the time I reached Corel. The jungle and cosmo canyon were terrible because of the complexities added by the mushroom jumping/ chocobo gliding. They really should've cut that stuff down.

The credits only recaps the Aerith route, and her route is defaulted if you don't pick either girl.

Holy fricking chad, I barely did 51 after half an hour (and I was too stubborn to retry until getting ccw pattern).
The key to a higher score on this game is to never do it the other way. Master L1 or R1 start, and retry any time you get the opposite trigger to start on. That, plus some RNG, helped me crush Jules with this score. If I got two or three yellows in a row in the 30-40 range I would just get smoked because they take too long. But on this run my last 5 struggle triggers were all greens.
I am sure higher scores are possible because my inputs on the slower crunches are very far from optimal, I rely on Tifa's animation physically locking up to time the inputs on the lower counts because the rhythm fluctuates too much. With perfect performance in the early stages I'm sure 60 crunches vs. Jules is possible but I don't think I am the anon to do it.

Frick this fight. Did you do it with pauses? I really tried to do it, watched a guide, used pause, looked at a guide about his starting position to identify his moves, the first red combo he unleashes... But I just got filtered.

No pauses, I tried that but it wasn't helping. Like after 40minutes, my brain autopiloted and I could finally figure the tells for each pretty well. The rushes I memorized, and it helps the first rush always starts with the right hand. I usually mentally told myself "this next rush will be left starting" and sometimes if it's the left uppercut I have enough time to react. Frick the left sideways rush, I could only react in time to block

the repeats, they are yellow IIRC. They didn't frick up my rhythm, I didn't falter by pressing R2 too much and then pressing it again for the L2 trigger. They just take too long for me to press and Jules would catch up to me. I've never been very good at semiautomatic trigger action in shoot-em-ups. The first round of the pirate shoot up was a little tricky for me for the same reason because you need rapid fire to score high on that round. The precision round was ironically easier for me.
Yuffie is tough, but sephiroth man....you only get to hit him either after a rush, or after dodging like 10 times in a row...a single time....

What do you want me to talk about? i feel like i know whats happening but i want your opinions. I dont think this is a multiverse, but i understand if people like. Theres evidence that suggests this "worlds" arent other worlds. This is lifestream, the past. Past iterations of gaia (lifestream recycle) that lead to multiple posibilities and every single one is aimed to destruction. I seriously believe that at the end, this one will die too but aerith will pull off the miracle that will stop the world from being destroyed due to meteor.
As for the ending itself...im kinda mixed. On one hand, theres REALLY good stuff (jenova lifeclinger was fricking amazing), but also theres other stuff that i dont understand and i can categorized as purely stupid fan service (the battle against sephiroth with zack), meanwhile others make no sense and feel like they just put stuff for the sake of putting something (like sephiroth reborn, like why? i was laughing at it so suddenly) and finally, the last battle with aerith and cloud with sephiroth was decent since you can understand thats pretty much aerith blocking sephiroth from breaking cloud at least "for now", which leads to the whole reunion plan in motion.
As for whats happening with aerith and cloud...cloud has become a schizo, clearly, and aerith death. Theres no "another world where aerith survived" or something. Cloud became closer to the lifestream and this will lead to stuff like the end of OG ff7, and i feel like this was born from his own jenova cells, blocking her death. Considering this, aerith speech about "regrets and guilt that stay with us" plus sephiroth speech about loss transforming happy memories into horrible stuff, makes me believe that we will see aerith death truly how it happened in part 3, once cloud heals and accepts her death.
Overall, mixed ending but nowhere close to horrible or souring the game for me. It has good stuff in it. Schizo cloud is scary.

What i feel the trilogy message will lead to is basically "accept zack and aerith death, they are dead. They HAD to die, move on", and those "what if" scenarios is a commentary on it, one way or another their deaths have to happen. In a way, we are experiencing what cloud is experiencing, denial to loss. While Aerith says that loss should be something embraced that makes us stronger, Sephiroth says no, loss just sours everything (therefore i will live forever and achieve eternity)

He's legitimately scary when he's in full schizo mode and it's no wonder the rest of the party is hesitant to call him on his shit after he has a schizo fit.
that scene when cloud says to tifa to leave the forgotten capital and tifa sees him like "smiling" and aerith doesnt show gave me chills, hes actually fricking scary and you can feel the tense atmosphere around him.
it's important to acknowledge the rainbow visual motif - it did appear during the block, so I don't think it's reasonable to think that wasn't a branch.

I don't know how you could possibly come to this conclusion. There are a ton of different universes and specifically show us each one is different because Stamp the dog changes in each. Sometimes the scene shows it front and center to us, other times its more subtle. Cloud just being a schizo means you werent paying attention to of the other worlds stuff, any of the cross dimensional white/black materia hopping, any of the reunion talk and Sephiroths exposition about worlds uniting together, any of the white whispers and the rainbow aura showing up to change the story, and all the timeline transitions midscene.

They specify multiple times that those are worlds that are dying, all of them, even sephiroth does. Plus, the constant entry between this worlds and the main one with sephiroth, aerith and even cloud suggests pure lifestream.
To be fair I missed most of these things at first, but once you watch the scenes again with them in mind it makes a lot more sense. Theres so much attention to detail its unreal, even with the scene where Cloud holds Aerith and it cuts 20 times back and forth between him having tears and not. The last time it changes his tears are try and Aerith holds his face and is still alive. Such tiny details but its extremely consistent.
I cannot fathom how you people can say something like this, that you need to pay attention to every single tiny little detail, and then you say that there's still multiple timelines at the end or that zack is in another timeline that he'll merge with the main one in part 3.

The way the confluence actually works is something we need to figure out, such as why others can't see Aerith, and how will others react to Zack now that he seemingly has risen from the grave.

She quite literally says a final "Goodbye" to the entire cast at the end of the game. She's dead. I can understand some confusion during the immediate cutscene when it's happening, but the boss fight and the post-final boss cutscenes should have made it obvious to anyone actually paying attention that she's dead and Cloud is either hallucinating her or talking with the spirit version of her - either way is irrelevant because the important thing is Cloud fully believes she's still alive when that is not the case whatsoever.
Red is literally the one character that went out of his way to say theres no afterlife and said others hearing Wedge was just the wind.
That's because there IS no afterlife for normal people or creatures.
They die off and are reabsorbed into the life stream.
It's SUPPOSED to be that way for Cetra too, but for whatever reason it's not that way for Aerith.
He's still way more in tune with the life stream and whats going on with it than any other party member, and he was closest with Aerith (evidenced by him talking to her with his normal voice all the way back in fricking Kalm).
The dirty secret about the remake trilogy is that they're not actually changing anything of substance. Everything is still happening as it did in OG7, just in a way way more convoluted way. The single exception to this is Zack being alive, and as we saw in Rebirth, Zack being alive amounts out to absolutely frick all other than vaguely giving us some sort of inside information on whats going on with the multiverse concept in this game.

They moved some stuff up, like the introduction of the Weapons and part of Tifa falling into the life stream, and they expanded the frick out of random stuff that no one asked for.

Zack is alive, which I'm curious to see what they do with, and Cloud thinks Aerith is alive for the start of part 3 instead of being a comatose mute for 6 hours. Those are the only legitimate substantial changes. One amounted to nothing already, and the other is clearly just a narrative device to enhance the opening of part 3 and to make it where instead of Cloud just falling into mako and going comatosed, there will (likely) be a scene where Barret or Tifa call Cloud out on his happy-go-lucky attitude while everyone else is mourning Aerith, leading to Cloud actually remembering what happened, leading to his actual mental break where he ends up in a wheelchair.

The rest of the party can't really sense her but she may be in another parallel world and Red 13 may sense her in the weird transdimensional lifestream that was introduced.

Cloud gave her memories back to her with the white materia. Remake Aerith had a transparent orb after the whispers stole her memories (she says this verbatim to Red in Costa del sol I think.) Alt timeline Aerith gives Cloud an opaque orb which he gives to Remake Aerith, thus returning her memories of Aeris Prime and is what motivates her to go to the Forgotten Capital. This is my interpretation at least.
He gave the white materia to a different Aerith altogether. After being sent into the portal he comes out the other side into the forest. He then gives it to her and he runs off chasing her before he "wakes" up after falling in a different body. Aerith is still there and telling the others shes going off ahead. Aerith doesn't know anything. She lost any memories of the planet she had which she says during Rebirth. Sephiroth understands the nature of the planet and the lifestream. This may be just a theory but the different timelines or worlds seem to exist because of emotions. It's basically the same as other collective unconscious stories where the emotions of humanity create things.

Sephiroth hasn't lost any fights yet in Remake. First one wasn't him, rebirth he just laughs and flies off. And we will find out in Part 3 that Omnislash doesn't kill him either and leads to Advent Children. But yeah he definitely knows all the stuff since he wanted Aerith to go pray. It's quite explicit.

It used to be the common theory that they were from post Advent Children, but some interviews with the leads have pretty much nixed that out by saying the Remake trilogy will lead directly into Advent Children.
At this point the more common consensus is that it's Aerith/Sephiroth from just after the ending of FF7 OG. Sephiroth wants to change things because he lost and died, Aerith wants to change things because she fricked up and didn't cast Holy in time and as a result all of humanity was sacrificed so the lifestream could push Meteor away and give Holy enough room to expand and take over Meteor (as per the original ending before they changed it with the compilation crap)
The games aren't a sequel. The way the lifestream works in Remake is that it is connected to all possible points in time. The future of OG FF7 is the stock future but by beating the Whispers the timeline is changed but OG FF7 was the future not the past. It's why Zack's fate is changed when the Whispers are beaten despite him dying before that happening.
I don't remember them saying humanity was sacrificed to do any of that shit. They got rid of humans since they are a threat to the planet.

That is not at all what is happening. There are no parallel universes. People's emotions make different worlds in the planet. Sephiroth wants to control emotion to manipulate Cloud.

Sephiroth inadvertently caused the multiversal split when he goaded the party into killing the arbiter of fate at the end of Remake.
His plan was to absorb the lifestream all at once when Meteor cracks the planet, but as a result of the multiversal split, the lifestream is now shared among an infinite amount of timelines - which is why every non prime timeline is dying. Because the lifestream is shared among an infinite amount of timeline, he would have to nuke an infinite number of planets with Meteor and suck up the tiny bit of lifestream in that timeline to get a fraction of the power that he was originally trying to get.
So his entire goal in Rebirth is to reunite the timelines so he only has to nuke 1 timelines planet with 1 meteor and be done with it.

You're under the assumption that Sephiroth knew killing the Arbiter of Fate would create an infinite multiverse. It's more likely given the context of what he's saying in Remake, that he legitimately thought all killing the Arbiter of Fate would unchain him (and everyone else) from destiny. Now that he realizes it created an infinite multiverse and that infinite multiverse split the power of the lifestream up among it all, he realized he fricked up and needs to do something to rejoin all the worlds back into 1.

The Yuffie DLC was to get the team used to working with the PS5 infrastructure, and to design the kits for Yuffie and somewhat for Cid (Sonan).
We already have the whole team put together, so there's no need to have a side story DLC that explains how Vincent or Cid met up with the party or knows about the party like with Yuffie. And anything involving those characters origins and backstory is better off explored in part 3.

IIRC they said they didn't want to overload the player with new characters, and didn't want to put him as a playable character just for the last couple of chapters (similar reasoning for Red in Remake).
Rebirth already has 2 new characters, 3 if you count Yuffie, and it expands on the 4 original characters. Adding in ANOTHER character might ovewhelm the player AND it makes it so all you have in part 3 as an addition is one new playable member.

I have trouble getting good DPS with Yuffie even when exploiting weakness and building her for magic. But yeah her evasion abilities can trivialize the game if you play Brumal Form like a Soulslop dodge roll and only use Ninjutsu. I think she may be viable for an HP<>MP build, but I recently failed to implement it for King Zu so I'm mothballing the idea for now.

Yuffie struggles to output damage in stagger windows mid-late game until she gets banishment + her 3 atb ability and she goes back to being OP. Blindside is OP for recovering out of stun lock and breaking out of enemy combos. Or you could avoid them altogether with brumal form combo'd into Blindside

Use Offense and Defense focus, and pick Cloud and Barret for your heroes. The instinct to use aggression and Tifa's haste is strong but you have to feint and play defensively to win this game.
Wait until the first wave of units is attacking your first tier tower before deploying. By now you have full ATB meter. Immediately counter first two units, support them with a cleric, then place two vanguards on the opposite lane. Summon Barret to nuke the flying monster, pushing your summon zone up, then spam units. Remember this also heals your first wave, which should still include Cleric by this point.
DO NOT drop Cloud until both towers are down and you are fighting Gilgamesh. You don't need to manipulate his weakness to beat him if you nuke him with Braver. Don't forget to use plenty of rangers. They stay outside the arc of his Stop spell.
You probably don't have to coordinate it this much to win, because as you can see I beat it with plenty of time remaining, yes this is Hard Mode Fort condor. But I do not believe it is possible to beat it without dropping at least one hero nuke on Gilgamesh.
Adding on to this, it is so crucial to place your units so that they bodyblock the enemy vanguards, they will often push your units out of the way to hunt down your rangers unless the shield guys actively engage them. You need to deploy your units behind the enemies they counter while they are on your side to create traps in the early stages of this battle, and position your shields to defend your rangers.

Now he is following the script more or less but in one version of reality he let Cloud save Aerith so that Meteor will clash with holy but still crack the planet and allow him to suck up the lifestream and become a God. The only way to win at the end of R3 is to let Aerith go. That's the whole schtick, that's the whole gimmick. You, the fan need to let her be dead.
Aerith waifugays are insane and don't care about what actually happened in any game. They're trying to larp as Cloud.
But its a sequel story. The original Aerith is still dead and in the livestream controlling things and altering fate. She does not have to die again in the current timeline

It's very clearly explained in the game.
The lifestream is the blood of the planet.
Without the lifestream, the planet will wither up into a dust ball and eventually scatter to the cosmos.
Think of the lifestream as a river.
When the multiverse split happened, that river suddenly had an infinite number of smaller outlets where the main flow of the lifestream is now flowing into, weakening the main flow of the lifestream, and just barely allowing a bit of lifestream to reach each individual outlet.
So now each individual new timeline instead of having the full power of the lifestream to keep it alive, has a tiny minute fraction of the lifestream, giving it an incredibly short lifespan before it dries up and becomes dust and ash.
TLDR the multiverse split also split the lifestream (lifeblood of the planet) and there isn't enough lifestream to sustain all these individual different timelines.

Of course they do
They do not, they act like the elemental materia that you can cycle through at will. For enemies that pressure to an element you can still use something like banishment though. It is at it's most useful in the same situation as Elemental: Enemies that have a type weakness but pressure to something like being blocked or dodged.
Yuffie is straight up busted. Add Elemental Fire/Wind to her weapon, hit the Enemy Skill Pulse and use Ice Ninjatsu and she's basically unstoppable. Add HP absorption to Enemy Skill to enable baby mode

I like to explore every little fricking crevice and crawlspace at my own leisure and then I have to go back to the story and I feel like a goober being spoonfed instead of also exploring my way through the MAIN CONTENT the game wants me to follow. I haven't completed the game yet and I did practically the entirety of the Grasslands and all off Junon's Intel but once I got back to the main story, I got ejected from the game because of how much of a railroad it wants to be.

if you pay attention to the game and actually read what the characters are saying it makes sense. beating the whispers broke the lifestream (which is already corrupted by jenova) into different timelines and worlds that are caused/fueled by negative emotions. Sephiroth wants to reunite those negative emotions and worlds.
