The whole marketing around Rebirth and the end of Remake is that with the time jannies gone, the story won't play out like the original. I'm almost certain one of the characters even says something to the effect of that at the end of Remake.
Cloud is 100% dying. There's literally no other reason to bring Zack back other than being a Cloud replacement. But of course, Cloud will be brought back to life in the 3rd game tho

if you play it like an arpg and just try to be fast it doesnt work, you still have to time your actions like attack/block in general or you'll get shit on most of the time
It took me a while to get it but once you take your time the gameplay is a lot more enjoyable
I'm still pissed at feeling like you need to know encounters beforhand to equip the right materias just like the OG, so you end up using what is most useful in every situation instead of going for specific setups
I'm playing the Remake and it's kind of a slog. I can only play about 2-3 hours at a time before getting burnt out. It's decent though, very just decent
