Having to equip 7 party members (Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, Red13, Yuffie, Cait Sith) with up to date equipment is going to be such a hassle compared to remake where you only need to do it with 4 people.
In Remake it was a hassle because you were constantly forced into using party members you didnt want to because Midgar was like that so you had to set them up.
The open world only has a few parts like that. I know Red and Aerith are forced on you at some points, I cant really think of any others.
I imagine we will obviously get locked in some story parts to use specific party members, but seeing the overall map i dont think it will be an issue because we can have plenty of combat outside of them.
What made me think "good" is how people described the Junon section as "not as massive but with a lot of things to do"
One of the biggest issues that could happen is have big and empty zones, or zones without content. I remember how people complained about that in FF16 at the first moment they played in the open zones.

No idea but Im gonna guess hes not locked in because unlike in the original, when you remove party members theyre actually still there walking around with you. They dont just wander off to who knows where, which would mess up cutscenes.

Yes, but the game flies after that and there is about 10 hours left. The amount of content that would be in part 2 compared to 3 would be lopsided. The third one is probably going to have to do filler like Part 1 again to have a game as close to Rebirth's length. Ending it at the Forgotten Capitol feels like a trade-off for that.
Even if the third part was only focused on the weapons, they would have plenty of content because they could expand the arcs about our party chasing them.
They easily have enough content to fill part 3. And i'm sure Sephiroth will do a lot more than just summoning meteor.
