Idk about the leveling system gobbos but hnms probably should have been popped via 1-3% drops on level 85+ mobs with a few day timers for all users that were in any group with anyone else fighting it at any time until it died. Idk if it’s possible to code in the timer somewhere like an npc that gives you all current hnm lockouts by hour but that would probably be needed. If thats just too complex that make the pop items a lot more rare. Be a lot more era+ than doing the exact same mistake that square realized and never repeated again.

Aerec is an butthole and I hate him, but when it comes to my actual play experience he's practically non-existent. Basically, avoid the Discord and you never have to worry about Aerec.
All in all, the server is good. Not perfect, but it has enough flair from the Era+ fights to not be "just another server", and the high population helps.
Granted, it's not an amazing server either, but I do see potential in it one day being that amazing server. Whether it actually achieves that is a guess though, but they did enough to at least have me invest in it with playtime.

It's pretty basic common courtesy, an in-game feature, and an expectation in any non moronic endgame group to avoid seeing parties of buttholes blinking out of existence every 2 seconds, and seeing exactly where everyone is actually at for positioning. No, I'm not telling everyone to download X, Y, and Z more addons because the game is already cat herding to begin with and lockstyle and equipsets are IQ litmus tests.

There's 74 linkshells on the calendar, run by random nobody volunteers. Of course it'll never be perfect but repeat offenders don't get to keep enjoying that privilege. If they don't care about the spreadsheet anymore, then there's nothing to b***h about when their access gets removed.

Blinking doesn't cancel the cast, it just resets targeting.

Does this order look correct or is there something I missed? Also, from what I understand, there's many other pieces of content such as Ambuscade or Odyssey which were released outside of these major expansions/misssions updates. And there's also the content that I couldn't find a release date for. How should I approach all the side content of the game so that I don't accidently get into something that was not yet available at the time of the expansion that I'm currently on? Maybe there's already a full list or a guide somewhere that compiles this info? I don't want to read through 20 years of patch notes to figure it out on my own.
I am aware that playing through the game in the release order is not the most effective way to play at all, but that is not my goal. I also realize that throughout the years many things have changed in the game and that progression through certain pieces of content is no longer the same as it was at the time of release.
The stories are pretty self contained, it's not like xiv msq where you have to play completely in order for it to make sense. I think trying to play strictly by release date is gonna give you more of a headache than it's worth.

Eden is blessed to be the only private server where FFXI's principle PVP sport, Ballista, has been implemented. Because of the emphasis on Era accuracy, it is also as close as we will likely get to a recreation of FFXI's peak era for PVP. Unfortunately however, the community is very small and sorely needs players. Currently we meet Monday and Thursday 9-10pm EST, depending on the in-game schedule for Ballista matches. The arena is currently not implemented, so all matches are held at Jugner, Pashow or Meriph according to this schedule. Thus we play all level caps as they are available: 30, 40, 50, 60 and 75.

I *like* classic era xi, and I like the gearing, but I am so fatigued of grinding and how long it takes to get everywhere (this will be my 3rd time playing a classic server). Are there any servers that are relatively similar to classic xi, but without the need of extensive travel times and endgame that's just consuming all of your time? True. first dunes/quifm experience is alright. next 6 times is awful. wish you could just skip to 30, same thing as 60-75. first sky party is fine doing it for anyother job is just not fun and you realize you spend 7 hours bored out of your mind. 30-60 is always a good time. camps are always changing, there's constant random party combinations and new skills/abilties spells are coming online every few levels while every job has a good baseline kit.

I've heard so many people say this here and I couldn't disagree more. Learning about the Xarcabard mission, Magicite, and Jeuno in general are the peak of FFXI missions and it's actually downhill from there, with only CoP able to have the same sense of story/area integration. The problem is if you do these missions as a high level or solo them as BST where there is virtually 0 challenge or danger. They were made to have a party+ climb the tower without sneak/invis and for people to go into the beastmen strongholds together. A lot of people don't realize this, but it's a big flaw with this game.
Its a pretty paper thin plot dragged out far longer than it needed to be and the expedition which is the only real event that happens in the base game story doesn’t get mentioned until its like more than halfway over. You are correct about the issues areneeding to hit max level to solo though, would love to play a 50 cap pre zilart offical server with groups actually storming the tower which could easily be a highlight of the franchise. Sneak/invis honestly kind of kills a lot of possibility cool moments. Maybe those should have not exist but far less mobs in non camp areas to compensate. So you do have too fight things just not swarmed
You actually have to understand the game to do meta changes. Nobody on staff understands the game well enough. They know players "do this and do that" but they don't understand "the why."

This the biggest issue with basically any private server or MMORPG these days, that's not to say there isn't friendly people but the end game is nothing but people that peaked in high school and unironically failed at life. Well adjusted adults don't spend their time doing this shit, you're either happily retired, a student going through that phase or a complete NEET 30+ schizo. Private servers are disproportionately the latter, we've all had that experience where someone pokes you to come to a party out of the blue, cancels it half way with out apologizing, or silently replaces someone. New to 11, started on Horizon a week ago and enjoying it so far. When I tell people I'm new they try and give me stuff and offer to rush me through "the boring levels/missions" but I'm actually enjoying them so far.
The game is obviously designed with co-operation mind, so I want to do events, missions, leveling, with people but I don't want to skip content. How do I phrase this, because so far people either think I'm being modest or they think I want to solo and I can't put this shit into words properly.

I'm soloing through the stories in release order right now. I'm through rank 6 of the Nation missions, Zilart, and Promathia, and about halfway through ToAU. I recently hit 99 and am considering dipping my toe into early endgame activities soon even though I promised myself that I was only in it for the story. I'm also currently trying to wrap my pea brain around what the frick the difference between limit points and capacity points are and why I was gaining the former 1,500 at a time and the latter only a few hundred at a time from the same enemies. People talk about the learning curve in EVE but I honestly feel that this game is far more complicated given the amount of currencies, outdated/abandoned content, upgrade systems, etc. and it doesn't help that the game does such a horrendous job explaining things that it's borderline laughable.
Limit points are for merits, capacity points are for job points. Cap every merit category you can then they basically become a currency. With job points, the more you spend on a specific job, the more CP you'll get per kill from cumulative "gifts". Every mission line also has RoE objectives that give a permanent CP bonus for the final missions, and more bonuses from the reive objectives in adoulin. Once you get all those bonuses and start spending JP the CP starts coming a lot faster. When you spend 2100 JP on a job it becomes mastered and you start gaining exemplary points towards master levels, which is by far the biggest and slowest grind. If you haven't already, work through RoV alongside the other missions you're doing.
For getting started with endgame, grind some ambuscade gear, do domain invasion every day, and try out omen.
I did an Ambuscade for the first time tonight and it was pretty fun (at least the regular one, I can't even do the Intense one on very easy without getting wiped in 30 seconds). I assume it would be even better with, you know, actual humans to play with.
The entry system is pants on head moronic though. They should just give you a daily cap on how many times you can enter or at the very least allow you to carry more than one Primer at a time. The idea of completing the event then having to warp to another zone and kill three enemies to get back in is tediously stupid.
I'm now trying to figure out Domain Invasion. I think I'm going to wait until I unlock Reisenjima or whatever it's called before really sinking my teeth into it. The Unity Chat player cap is gay. Is this a technical limitation or a deliberate design choice?
I really would enjoy finding a LS with some players new to endgame.

You probably beat ff11 when you clear all stories which wont be hard unless maybe hitting 75 and swapping to merit mode to play the content at the levels most of it was designed for. Even then most jobs got far more traits and abilties before the 75 cap over the years so ehhh

I did end up doing a DI and it was pretty easy. I'm playing on my old shitbox laptop so when the boss spawned the game slowed down to about 2 FPS because there were like five people and 25 Trusts on the screen. I guess I contributed something because I hit the daily cap from that one fight.
/hidetrust will hide other players trusts. You can also turn off battle effects in the config menu, especially useful if Mireu spawns. Idk if it'll help but I think dgvoodoo is supposed to help improve performance in some situations.

There's an addon called WhereIsDI that will tell you where domain invasion is happening if unity chat is full. All you do is beat up the dragon and minions that spawn until you cap your 80-100 daily points, other players will do most of the work but you want those participation points. You don't wanna wait to start that because the daily cap is low and there's a bunch of stuff you'll want with those points.

Optimistically you could get all the currency you need in about 2 to 3 months if you buy everything that hits the market at any price and have an infinite supply of gil.
I guess it boils down to how much higher the currency market goes. Shells and Bronzes are already breaking the 9k mark with Bynes always around 1k less. I expect them to go over 9-10k before long. Even if you get a loan you can expect to spend somewhere in the realm of 130-150 million gil in that price range.
At the fair market value of 1 million gil per dick you suck, you'll have to suck around 150 dicks.
And fair warning, prices are already going up little by little. And the sellers aren't stupid. If someone with deep pockets starts buying currency at any price you can expect things to escalate rapidly. 12, even 15k isn't unimaginable.
People with designs on mythics are already building up a cash reserve to buy up all the adamantite they can before the prices go insane. They'll take you for everything you're worth.
Bold of them to assume ToAU is coming out this year. Liquid gil depreciates with the inflation on the server. Best to invest in assets.

It caps, but breaking the chain means that your first kills aren't capped.
Thus keeping the chain means that you're getting the most EXP on every kill.
Alright cool, but why do people slow down to keep the chain going. Surely getting more kills thus starting respawn times faster is more worthwhile than a few xp bonuses that cap out at like 5 or something so
Sometimes you have to slow down to ensure that the repops come at a sustainable rate.
If you kill too fast, then you'll break the chain.
Think of it like this:
If you're waiting on the repops because you killed too fast, then you're waiting anyways, and then you also lose chain, meaning that the extra EXP that you lose from not having a capped chain will result in you effectively killing less monsters. (If you imagine that the additional EXP is worth like a free monster kill every 2-3 kills)
While you are technically killing slower by stalling the chain, you're effectively killing them at the same rate as if you were waiting for repops.
That said, you should only be slowing kills if you would beat the repop timer.

It's a mixture of everything effectively being World Bosses, or the raid/dungeon lock outs being shared by the entire server.
Endgame in XI is a lot more entwined with players dominating endgame.
If your group is small, you can still compete, but you'll see action on some things less.
XI is a very player-driven economy, and that applies to endgame as well. The more people in endgame, the more valuable getting a fight with an HNM is because you're less likely to get it.
Overall, it's not an inherently bad system, but it's the antithesis to World of Warcraft. The drops are more valuable because they're so hard to come by not even necessarily in drop chance, but in chance of seeing a loot pool, at the same time, gear isn't super necessary except in the hardest of content which are very minimal like Absolute Virtue or Pandemonium Warden.
If you're a patient player and don't need instant gratification to enjoy a game, it's good. If you are, endgame isn't for you at all and you will actively struggle to want to participate.

Thats really medicore and nin tanking in retail is pretty much dead to make way for rune fencer and super buffed over the years pld like i think people still tank very little content with nin but thats like a novelty now. if you wanted a tank that dealt more damage than pld in retail i really don’t see why you wouldn’t play rune fencer. Its a magic damage dealing caster with some enfeeble spells that just so happen to have the best tank ability in the game 75 era. NIN is so weird because the job was clearly never fricking finished. Released with no sneak spell, no :Ni version of certain spells (which to this day, there STILL is no :ni versions of Jubaku or Dokumori), all spells are just weaker than their enfeeble counterparts. Just stops learning spells past 50. The odd thing that :San spells cast slower and have higher recast than :Ni. The job is so hard carried by (sub job) dual wield and utsusemi that it gives people the illusion that everything the job has is crazy and not held crudely together. It's just a mess.
