Daily/Weekly/Monthly RoE quests need to give out more Capacity Points to allow people to catch up.
Also, having fun trying out Monstrosity today. Never really put that much interest in it beforehand. Shame there's not much else to it besides fight NMs.

Unfortunately, the guy who made it got moved to a different department. It's dead content. Highest leveled place you can go is The Garden of Ru'Hmet at level 78, so there's not even appropriate leveled monsters to fight to level to 99, just a hard grind with 1 XP Buff you can buy with Monstrosity currency. If they just made it like every other job and you could play the game with it, it'd be much better. But it's to be expected for FFXI's "Limited Job". Wanna get to cap anyway just to say I did it.

And done! Not going to do the autistic leveling of every species, just the one is enough. And with that I've pretty much finished the game, think I'm gonna retire from leveling and just do Mog Garden during Free Logins.
Pretty fast to level, only took about 3 sessions. Only sped up once I got -aga spells. Being a Metal Slime helped a ton. I had low health but a massive Mana pool and amazing evasion with a lot of the standby BLM abilities.

it would also help if pol was removed which is never happening. if the ui was touched up for modern systems. if there was a more convenient way to make macros or a new one button to a favorite abilities menu, quest log, game updated to not run like ass, game updated to be more accurate to whats happening in the now and not abilities taking effect 2 seconds from now. idk unless they decide to do a full remake and keep 1-2 severs up for the older game, nothing big is going to happen.
well, with the likelihood of a new voracious resurgence not on the horizon considering the team was downsized, and the drama over sortie and now the lackluster slime fight, I don't have much faith. That being said, XI had a good run, it'll likely make it to 30 years before truly shutting down. Personally I got back on the wagon with the 20th anniversary, but I've mostly completely fizzled out now. Currently playing dragon quest 10, as it's the closest I can get to a new FFXI.
yeah. everything ends and 11 stayed stronger than most. just look at eq, its merc system is far more dogshit than trusts, and its new content is just really shitty single raids with some garbage zones pushed out as soon as possible. and you have to pay for those lol.
Resurgence was a nice surprise; the only hope now is for there to be progression servers launching or we just kinda exist until square eventually pushes out a single player version like dq10

Also Everquest has changed companies like 2-3 times now and the original team left after the 3rd expansion.
It doesn’t take that many people to throw up progression servers if they bothered to have kept the data which they didn’t. Still Square is also not an indie company that can’t risk anything. If they have resources to remake live a live and tactic igre even release dq10 with nu models in a nu form. Games 40 people played, they can offer the same to ff11 there most highest revenue generating game until 14 eventually kicked it off.
They don't care, it's not going to happen. Even if they had the data they would have to train a new team in this ancient tech.
They'll keep retail going as long as it's worthwhile enough but in the end they'd rather have people on FF14.

I've been playing this too, for the last month or so. It's like a bizarro retail XI where the team actually know what they're doing, stays in contact with the playerbase instead of being completely out of touch, and actually cares about the game. I haven't run into a single RMTer or bot (that I'm aware of) so far. Also no POL, a free trial that doesn't suck ass, and very new player friendly in terms of showing you around without being obnoxious about it. I'm enjoying it, but it makes me mad that XI's team is just... so fricking stupid, cheap and lazy by comparison. Why can't XI have it this good? Did all the talent and passion leave to work on DQ10?
Dq10 was squares 2nd attempt at a mmo. They had hindsight and experience. Ff11 was only made because Sakaguchi got addicted to eq over a single season and just wanted to make that. There was no greater plan and im sure half of the later expac stories were never thought of when they were outlying everything. Also helps dq10 wasn't made with PS2 dev kits, im sure even making anything for ff11 is a massive pain in the ass

I dunno, I know enough nip to play games in the language pretty comfortably. You could probably get by. I know some people use a machine translation for the free trial (though I think you need to give your credit card number to chat gpt or some shit). The game overall has a better UI than FFXI. It's about as story heavy as Aht Urghan, rarely dipping into WotG length cutscenes.

Biggest problem is unironically Realm Reborn and lv 1-50 for new players. It's really bad and takes way too long to trudge through.

The game is at a really good state now there is plenty of endgame content and also 20 years worth of content that is not endgame, that being said it's never been a better or easier time to give FFXI a try. Check out the Asura server it has the highest population and people running all kinds of things!

retail pigeonholed the game into this solo experience while leaving a bunch of gates that encourage players to multibox. it only cares about milking existing players, not reviving the game or bringing new people in
i tuned into some guy named ejincaitsith while i was at work out of boredom, and he quickly made me realize how rotten the mentality on retail really is. he was basically ranting about botting, multiboxing, mercing, and RMT not harming the game and that "what's the harm if people bot content they don't want to do?".. it hit me like a ton of bricks that even in the slim chance anyone at square tried to breath some life into xi, the playerbase would ensure it was a fruitless effort.

I see new characters frequently on Bahamut, especially right now during discount campaign, but I can't be certain those are new players. What's incredible is seeing the same multis idling around homepoint crystals for months and months on end, never logging out or moving. I can't understand what's about.

It's the only way I play and literally how I played XI for 90% of my time, solo. Hoping to run into someone who was willing but never did despite my requests for parties. Look for them, it's what I did after I leveled up when I could have used a lot of help.
Low level areas is literally just bots homie. its not like some secret either or just one server
they all have bots that run up to mobs your fighting and stare at you since there programmed to attack everything near them

Personally, I think they pretty much gave up trying to entice new players back after Seekers came out in 2013. It was quite a mixed reception with the content delivery and then the accompanying "reset" on gear when they implemented item level. A lot of people spent big money on HQ abjuration equipment only for it to become useless because it was missing the necessary defensive stats to survive. Delve was proving to be too difficult for the pugs at the time and the effort required to kill some of those forced-spawn bosses wasn't any better. XIV obviously relaunched in August/September that year which ended up stealing a lot of the more casual/social-focused players. I'm pretty sure there was quite a dip in player activity for most of SoA until Rhapsodies started up, but even then it was only ever going to be the more hardcore players that would ever return to the game rather than the social or casual players, let alone new bodies.

From my experience, the most botted "content" ends up being Capacity/Exemplar Point farming and card farming for the crafting shields. Both of those things are easier and more streamlined than any sort of grinding from ye olden days but also significantly more mind-numbing even WITH a group of bros. The annoying part about Job/Master levels is that they're pretty much required to participate in the new content because of how much additional stats you get out of them, so you tend to feel compelled to grind it out when you pick up a new job. The thing that I still think is a travesty is that exp is completely murdered with an alliance, when at this stage of the game I think it would be beneficial to provide a boost to capacity/exemplar point yield by being in larger groups. Give people a reason to group up beyond the normal 6-person parties again and maybe shout a bit like they did when Dynamis-Divergence or Omen were more relevant.
First time player, just got the game on this sale. What are some of the essential qol mods, if any? Not looking for automated farming tools or anything, just legit qol stuff.
Just launch through Windower4 and you'll have a bevy of options available to look through. For addons, I recommend Battlemod, Azuresets for blue mage, Boxdestroyer if you want to easily solve the caskets that appear in the overworld after killing monsters, Distanceplus, Dressup is nice for preventing people from blinking when they change equipment, Findall, Gearswap but this is more of an endgame utility, Shortcuts, Tparty, Trusts. And for plugins, I recommend Config, Delaymenot, and Timers.
Reshade with Colorfulness and Vibrance shaders on, point Reshade to pol.exe
Between Retail and the Horizon private server, what's more worth it in the long run?
retail if you want to slow burn play casually with npcs, do the story and etc. pretty much an endless grind scenario if you aren't mercing past stuff. there's a lot to do, but you won't do it with real people for the most part.
horizon if you want to play with people and experience what the game was to an extent but it's a private server so it can disappear at any moment for whatever drama or the creators getting bored of it.
Yeah I want to experience grouping to an extent but the stories I hear are quite appealing. Is there still a chance to get into low leveling parties on Horizon? I heard the ability to solo is even harder than it is in EQ, next best thing I have experience with.
theres plenty of noobs still playing and homies leveling alt jobs atm. last time i had a dunes party 2 guys didn't even have there sj's unlocked, i wouldn't worry about that for a long time.

two completely separate experiences. i just swap between the two whenever i get bored of one. I overall prefer horizon, playing with other people is just more exciting than solo play but i have been making great progress in retail and the later stories that horizon may never get or not get for like 5 more years are quite good

Yeah it’s all pretty much instanced. You have your regular NMs you sometimes have to dip into if you’re doing one of the various magian trials but the days of lottery popping HNMs are a thing of old

no, not really. there was for a little while when they added job points cuz they added new camps everywhere but those quickly got botted and merc'd. after that they pretty much have the only reason to go out places is to do your ambuscade daily for the primers and that's about it. "Good enough" food, potions, etc are all available from the curio moogle and gear is all from vendors at their respective content hub.
I suppose for completionism, getting all teleports/book warps, region/NM kills for RoE. Might be a exp camp here or there for you to grind a few levels if you like to level the normal way instead of through Escha, but like the other anon said there’s no real incentive. Depends what your goals are really.
Getting stronger after Mastery Points requires you to get as many titles as you can get. So that requires doing all content.
Yes on places like Asura there is an active auction house and people buy fishes and other materials for various crafting recipes.

It's a good epilogue, ties up loose ends of the lore of XI. Mechanically though, it's kind of a kitbash of stuff and there's not really a lot of new to it. It does eventually require (yes, requires) you to get a Primal Weapon, and to get them you have to be pretty far along to getting Job Mastery. So if you're not there yet, it'll be a while still before you can beat TVR.
Yeah I can't see myself doing TVR, just got buckbroken by RoV's final boss.

bahamut. easy. people on asura barely even play the game so it's impossible for newbies to catch up fully without mercing. Bahamut players are generally speaking friendlier and less reliant on RMT/mercing so people will be willing to come to newbie content with you.

I know every server has rmt but I've heard from people newer players basically get shut out on Asura and it's a min-max server. I have nothing against that but it doesn't seem to make sense to join as a fresh player. Your second point just makes no sense though, you can find groups in the lowest pop server as well but why would you join them when there's no benefit?
I could be missing something of course but I think Asura only makes sense if you already have a character you can transfer or something. Probably the economy is better but I don't know how it works out in the end with the extra bots and rmt gil.
Yeah I wasn’t implying it was the best or ‘be-all-and-end-all’, just the post before mine was exaggerating somewhat. I think my second point was just explaining that you can find help for most things leading up to ‘end’game. I know during this free campaign period I’ve helped a bunch of newbs with storyline content, RoV, limit breaks, Delve, HTBF and a couple of other minor things that I’ve seen people ask for in yell.
The economy is a bit temperamental though, lots of impatient people who can’t wait for their shit to sell so there’s a lot of undercutting. The RMT obviously don’t help in regards to this either so more RMT-lite servers are no doubt better in that sense.
I understand, I appreciate your viewpoint. I know Asura gets a lot of shit. It's probably a good end game server and a lot of people want to just get their shit done with geared players which is fine. Unfortunately it's hard to really have it both ways though.

There are people on Asura, yes there’s a lot of rmt/merc yells but that’s not exactly nonexistent on other servers despite the other anon’s over-exaggerations. You can still form groups and get people to do content if you actually make an effort to put groups together instead of just sitting in town waiting for the groups to come to you.

Just found out about a place that still has ffxi nude mods. Remember that one place everyone ended up finding as a kid, looking up "naked video game mod?" Nudepatch.net? Theres a couple for XI there. The one you want is the "auto-installer" one. It really isnt an auto installer its just a zip. Just throw thhe DATS into XIPivot and you're good to go. I wish I knew the whole list of gear it modifies, but it seems like theres a ton. I keep seeing new things just running around Mhaura and Sandy lol. Also theres animations for FHume idle and sit, Mithra idle and sit, and FElvaan sit. FHume sit is broken though...
You can use DressUp to test out all the different things, but it takes a lot of typing.

The issue is that getting gear is supposed to require cooperation/social skills as well. By buying gear you basically skip the steps necessary to get that piece of gear. For example getting Homam/Nashira gear requires you in theory to form a group, organizing parties/loot system/schedules, and play the fricking game of course. Any npc can get the money necessary to buy those pieces. It doesn't have any meaning. You're playing baby mode just to have the gear which isn't the end goal in itself. Anyone who buy/sell rare/ex gear should be bannable. You're defeating the purpose of the game and accelerating its death.

The "benchmark version" one here sets up everything the game needs to run well under Wine on Linux. You can download the game's actual installer and switch the executable to it after the benchmark is installed, not sure why the script is only for the benchmark. The installer also gave me an error if I ran it straight from under drive_c rather than drive_c/users/username/Documents for some reason (picrel). You might also need to remove the fakejapanese_vlgothic part of the script (just cut it out in a text editor) if it's giving you an error about checksums or something.
Of course this is all gobbledeeasiatic if you're on Windows in which case it's obviously far simpler to set up, just download the game, no PlayOnline horseshit here.

It's kind of 50/50, some japs like having a designated "cultural exchange" channel (ala PSO2 jp's old ship 2) where they can play with foreigners and practice their english while others despise the gaijin. I do have a strong gut feeling however that a lot of DQX players would be PISSED if SE suddenly localized the game and just let us westooners loose on the japanese servers rather than making a separate version of the game, however.
From my limited experience so far, it's more solo friendly than XI (well, not too different from retail trusts XI). They even add solo-focused endgame content from time to time, I hear. I think some of the later stuff is supposed to be pretty tough but I'm still a noob playing through the story overleveled, so I can't say for sure. I will say that the game basically being full on ATB JRPG combat where you have to rush to menu your commands in realtime (no FFXI macros) is pretty tense.

One of ff11 point was that the team wanted there to be community between everyone, its why the universal chat options exist so they didn’t regionlock, or directly state this one is a us server this one is a jap etc. Its usually the Chinese that absolutely try to overrun and become the majority on another regions server “usually to get away from there fellow chinese bros lol” when give the choice
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't go around speaking in english. The game does have an online status you can set for yourself that says you're playing without a keyboard if you don't know japanese/you're not confident in your japanese and want to avoid suspicion.

The main reason ff11 is easy now because they removed most level restrictions and the level cap but if you still walk into promvy at 30, the intended level even with trusts its far far far easier to wipe compared to 90% of mmos that might as well be on autopilot until the 2nd raid difficulty at end game
If you recruit trusts at around your own level (and you're not overleveled) I'd say DQX has had some pretty challenging story boss fights so far. There were a couple I walked into not-overleveled (or underleveled for) and it was rough. I would definitely not consider the game to be as easy or as flowcharty as FF14, but I'm not far enough into it to really compare it to 11 at this point. I imagine it's somewhere between the two, because it's definitely a little more streamlined in some areas than 11 is.

The worst part of Horizon is how bad the entire endgame population is at the game. Watch any of it on twitch and you'll see DAsoccer6 playing WHM, casting spells through the menu and doesn't use any macros.
All of the endgame options blow. You either join a 60+ man ls where 8 people carry the other 52 or a low man LS where all the leaders play DD jobs and have 0 flexibility needing everyone else to play important jobs.
This is why they need to dump ToAU. The amount of low man content at 75 is too low in CoP. Best you can do is limbus with a single party and maybe some of the weaker sea NMs
It should be a requirement for EGLS to have a mage job as well. Unfortunately, a lot of the EGLS healers and bards get burnt out because you have some dipshit who ONLY has a DPS job. I understand if they have a relic, then they should be on their relic job but come the frick on...

No reason to gimp your melee or rng with /nin to pull when you have a bard to do it who doesnt need a sj. Easily the most useful party job.

If you are looking exclusively for PLD or NIN then its entirely a you problem. You can make a functional exp party using 4 dd/nin’s in almost any level range after 24 and before that two melees with voke and two functional healers will be all you need.

tank is not that important of a role compared to eq. you can get a pld, war/nin, or nin as a miantank but as the other anon said /nin is more than enough.
in the higherlevels but before endgame the tank role is basically just straight up not needed and hurts your xp per hour compared to getting another dps/nin

If you have a good war/nin and everyone else is average at best the xp is going to suffer because you can’t bounce hate very easily and eat the healer’s mp

Feel like you’ve never played with randos on the horizon server. I have partied with one sam ever that has finished top 1 or 2 on deeps. I don’t know why either sam itself is terrible, or there are so many terrible players playing sam on horizon, but it’s rare to find a good one.
One single good war will hold hate way through 6 shadows if there is no other voke and every other DD is average at best
i suppose horizon threw the balance all over the place with the drg buffs. the meta is no longer a decent spread of jobs its now stack 3-4 drg/war/sams with spears and kill birds for 20-30k xp an hour guaranteed. which was always a thing but now people literally don't even want to bother with tank jobs in the final 10ish levels until endgame again when pld is required for content

wyvern damage was wrong for a while but got fixed over 6 months ago now, 10+ year old bug
the biggest buff was that the wyvern is pretty much up the entire time. the job was designed in era that it would do great damage if the pet was alive, but you had to be careful. loldrg was born because drgs didn't have half of there damage for an hour and a half if the wyvern died early.
now that drgs have all of there damage up 24/7 the job is a monster and square had the right idea tbh. horizon actually nerfed piercing weakness damage by 12.5% from 25% to 12.5% and its still clearly really really really strong. when sams are using spears with like 50 less skill than gkatana you know spears are fricking broken, and the homie class that has the best skill with them is just going to be good.

It does the exact same thing as drg, sam, war but not as good, tons of threat in its abilities so something you have to watch out for as a drk main the other 3 just never have to worry about. Most of its good abilities are frontloaded like nin so you can just sub it for stun, last resort, tractor, attack bonus anyways. Until drain spikes are added there is literally no reason to main drk, just sub it. asorb stats are incredibly underwhelming, enfeebles are never going to land with its skill, and its magic damage sucks dick being stuck st level 2 spells with no mab

Farming just feels completely horrible on this server. Eden has the same TH but their NPC prices are pre-nerf to offset it. Horizon still has massive NPC gil nerfs. You also don't resist shit on horizon, even when you out level mobs by 35-40 levels. A level 35 mob can sleep you easy at 75 without any - dark resist gear equipped. Too weak mobs can nuke the frick out of you as well, you'll have to invest in some resist gear when dealing with magic mobs of any kind.
Farming has never felt good on this server which is why people sit in town all day and print which rapes the crystal stocks and those guys are barely making profit these days.

I seen a level 75 doing missions get nuked by the tonberry mage during zm one shotted. I got 90 light resistance gear for maat and he was still pumping out 400-400 damage holys/banish 3s like it literally did nothing compared to when i had 0 and he 2 shotted me before.

It changes the HNM meta a lot when holding a NM goes from something you might need to do for 2~5 minutes while everyone warps in, to something where you have to have an alliance stationed at every HNM spawn because it'd rage before you can get reinforcements in the zone.

The only way to get a relic is print gil or convince a bunch of newbies in your ls its totally worth it to give you all of the currency for a few months. Yes and its why QoL servers suck and completely miss the point. You fast forward through the part people actually enjoy to get to the awful endgame everyone hates.
Even on Horizon, the absolute best time I had in the game was leveling up and meeting new people and knocking out all the missions. The actual end game is very boring, time consuming, and brings out the worst in everyone involved because of what a major time commitment it is. HNMs are the obvious example where linkshells die over loot decisions, politics, and general scheming while getting into Dynamis is apparently the most cutthroat PvP possible since Ballista isn't implemented.
The HNM scene on Horizon is especially bad because of what a numbers game it is, you need to over recruit and because of how the systems work you could go months without claiming a king and it will drive people insane when they're spending hours of their lives camping every day. Then you do claim it and nothing drops lmao. It's just competitive gachashit. Roll to see if you win the lotto, roll to see if the item drops, roll to see if you actually win it.
this is why people want toau. salvage/assault/znm doesnt require 10-18 people

I really enjoyed the early rush during the first few months of horizon when low level zones were flooded. It had the original XI release feeling to it.
Needed a kazham key? Pick up group invited you but all the key mobs were dead and parties were competing for key mobs. Strangers stayed until everyone got their key drops like the old days of XI.

The original plan for lilisette was "what if abyssea and the level cap increase never happened and they continued making job, mob and content adjustments over time." Horizon is meant to be that I guess. Starting with CoP was I think due to the decision to go with LSB instead of the Wings codebase, meaning there was a lot of stuff that needed to be fixed all over again. The lack of proper tooling and the inability to modify the client hampers development a lot. Working with DSP and derivatives is like building a house with sticks and stones.

Kill boss, get key item, logout to lose level sync warp back collect xp. If your home nation is sandy you can also just npc warp back to quifm for jeuno or wherever

PLD is AMAZING in Limbus, you can out damage everyone other than geared MNK/WAR/RNGs with PLD/NIN, multi-hit weapons, and Spirits Within. Also great in Sky and Sea.

nin gets better with gear. early on pld was god tier and kind of required if you wanted good xp because the time to kill is much slower when dds don't have their good gear. but when all the dds have gear and the nins have gear, that's when plds start falling behind. basically if you play on another fresh server in the future, that's the best time to level paladin. it's as wanted as bard is during the initial leveling rush.

Final Fantasy XI is the only numbered Final Fantasy game I've never played. Should I get the official release on sale for ten united states dollars, or try a private server instead? Horizon and non horizon ff11 are two completely separate experiences. Its almost not even comparable. Try both you can also just try catseye over having to buy and install retail, see if you like the modern version of the game and go from there.

The game spawns more than 20 years and its changed a lot from its release. Just like wow.
Retail if you want to experience the full plot and all expansions, Eden if you want the server most accurate to 2008, Horizon if you want the highest population server, Catseye if you want 75 cap with more casual gameplay.
Get retail either way if it's $10 and try both. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a 75 era party, sometimes I just want to be autistic and play with trusts. Both good.
Eden is blessed to be the only private server where FFXI's principle PVP sport, Ballista, has been implemented. Because of the emphasis on Era accuracy, it is also as close as we will likely get to a recreation of FFXI's peak era for PVP. Unfortunately however, the community is very small and sorely needs players. Currently we meet Monday and Thursday 9-10pm EST, depending on the in-game schedule for Ballista matches. The arena is currently not implemented, so all matches are held at Jugner, Pashow or Meriph according to this schedule. Thus we play all level caps as they are available: 30, 40, 50, 60 and 75. This schedule can be found at edenxi.com

Generally healers and tanks have a bit of advantage since they're better at staying alive actually. BLM aga spells can do big damage but you'll only get one off before you start getting interrupted. So instead you cast more crowd control which is still pretty good. DPS can do good burst damage but WS do half damage so getting one shot is mostly unheard of unless you get hit with Souleater Guillotine on Taru.

The weird part about the shadow nerfs was that the purpose was to hurt melee dd over reliance on them but the only nerf was to recast which melee dd don’t care about since they bounce hate between each other preferably before they take even a single point of damage and the recast is probably up before they have to take hate again anyways.
Nin main got yonin that put the recasts almost back to normal but using yonin feels like shit since you get an acc debuff but least you get a massive eminty bonus so it mostly evens out i think.
Casters just like melee dd were essentially not affected by the nerf since someones going to take hate before they break regardless.

Servers have dumbed down many things. Players also have way more access to gear/resources/code to know what does and doesn't work. Shit was hard back then, but half of it was due to ignorance.
idk 90% of this game is trivialized with shadows or kiting which seems to not at all been affected by number changes.
Cuz private servers as a whole can’t get a good replica of the navmesh. They tried to compensate on wings with the mob speed boost when it’s way behind you, but you can still kite without getting hit as long as there is no terrain to trip you up
way back in era most people didn't have ninja as a sub for those missions and kiting was harder on weak hardware and on servers located in japan that had a high ping and many still had dialup connections. utsusemi ni was expensive as frick too because people didn't know all the strategies for every bcnm fight.

There's no doubt that there was a lacking skill level years ago, but it's not due to some sort of incompetence. It was just that the detailed level of knowledge available now to all players didn't exist 20 years ago. Consider Parade Gorget - that was added in July 2005 and no one but some niche Japanese players figured it out until September 2006 where SE revealed 7 of the 8 ingredients.

Regarding missions, I am willing to bet that most players didn't even make it through the Promyvion missions until after ToAU was implemented. Most groups were PUGs and certainly didn't make any effort towards farming up the animas to simplify the fights. Also Inventory is significantly easier to manage in these private servers. There was no satchel, sack, wardrobe, etc. 15+ slots of your inventory were dedicated to your equipment and gl dealing with the prospect of leveling multiple jobs and juggling that equipment. Mog Safe and Storage only went so far - you pretty much had to create a mule to store older equipment if you were going to do any content with some sort of level cap.

10 years ago we were in Seekers of Adoulin expansion, 15 years ago we were in Wings of the Goddess. Wikis made a lot of progress from not existing in the early 2000s (when RoTZ/CoP was implemented) to the late 2000s and into the 2010s where there's a Wiki for every game and then some.
I only remember the missions being challenging because instead of going into, for instance, the Sacrarium with a party, we went in there with the ENTIRE LS, including the morons who didn't deserve to clear that kind of mission. Information was spread out on allakazham, ki, somepage, etc, with lots of unverified or incomplete information. Nowadays there are guides and scripts and dat dumps for everything.
