>FFXII was so bad even its director had to leave halfway through
>FFXIII is still being hated even years after release
>FFXIV needs immense amounts of cope to be tolerated
>FFXV was a garbage bin game from the start and never improved even though it recieved 1000 patches
>FFXVI fell from grace the minute it released and is still being actively shat on for being a shallow action mess
>Stranger of Paradise is powercreep garbage that's only fun if you love drowning in shit loot
>Meanwhile FFVII Remake enjoys being the most competent FF entry in years, is beloved by the whole fanbase and the hype for Rebirth is immeasurable
How does Nomura do it?

what fantasy world do you live in
don't mind him, that's just Barry
Barry wouldn’t insult 15
That's just what barry wants you to think
the real world. Just check out every discussion about the game and you'll see only hate for it. Apart from pretty action sequences the game offers literally nothing. Just empty setpieces and a never changing combat system in which you fight the same reskinned 5 monsters.
Youd be surprised how many people claim this echo chamber is the whole world.
Discussions on the Final Fantasy and Games subreddit and Twitter are mostly negative as well. Pretty much everyone there dislikes XVI for various reasons, the only thing everyone agrees on is that the boss fights are spectacular to look at, but boring to play and that the OST is good. Everything else is pretty much underwhelming and disappointing.
inb4 >reddit >twitter
SE stocks have plummeted since the game came out btw
being 24/7 in Ganker alters your perception of reality
>not "what final fantasy world do you live in"
one job
I live in the real world where it's the worst selling mainline entry in history, where half the actual shill youtubers who were hyping it then instantly turned around and said it was shit the second their sponsorship was done
I think it's just people who want the game to be bad so badly, they just ignore the people who like the game or just think anyone who likes it is just lying/paid to shill it. I hear anons say reddit and twitter are shitting on the game, but when I went there to see reddit hate on a game, most post there liked it.
a world where OP is a 7R fanboy
i don't know the point of the rule of "flagrant fanboyism" exists when this thread is still up
>How is Nomura still worse in spite of all this
It really is quite simple actually
>Meanwhile FFVII Remake enjoys being the most competent FF entry in years, is beloved by the whole fanbase and the hype for Rebirth is immeasurable
TLOU2 being such a shitshow really was a godsend for you people wasn't it
What do/did people see in 7? I played 1-6, liked 6 the most so far, but gave up on 7 soon after Midgar. Gameplay felt extremely restrictive compared to earlier entries and all the extra fleshed out world and lore just doesn't seem to work when both the story and the characters are still cartoony.
Babby's first RPG. A lot of people who played it never owned a SNES so they didn't experience the mountain of kino the system offered. It was also """cinematic""" and scored a lot of undeserved praise for it, similar to Metal Gear Solid.
>claiming 7 as baby's first rpg when talking about FF at all
FF in general is a baby's first rpg
yes and 7 is the one that broke into the western market due to insane marketing
The gameplay gets good as you adquire more materia and starts combining them. The endgame is great with shit like 4x-cut and quadra magic
TIME JANNIES
Even the homosexual normies I know that ate up FF7R complained they didn't go far enough with the action game angle and that it cowardly straddled the line between ARPG and pure action.
It's only popular because it's FF7.
Is the new Crisis Core worth playing even if I don't care about the new visuals? Did they touch the gameplay at all?
The story is still terrible cringe but the gameplay flows a lot better than it did on PSP.
Guess I'll try it while I wait for Rebirth on PC, then. Thanks.
The new voice acting is god awful compared to psp version
Doesn't it have dual audio? And if it doesn't, is there no mod to fix it?
It's a slight improvement from what I understand. Aside from the visuals it is largely the same game.
I'm going to jerk off the day the FF franchise finally dies
Chuunis with budget are too powerful
XII is good.
X is better than VII in every way
>X is better than VII in every way
Which part did you think was better, the fruitcake aesthetic characters or the dogshit voice acting?
The voice acting is really good
>The voice acting is really good
ahahahahahahaha
Cope, the laugh was bad in JP, too.
Which was the point, newbie.
don't engage with morons. Out of all the dogshit english dubs in the industry, FFX dub is not one of them. It's probably one of the best examples of eng dub va done well.
>FFX dub is not one of them.
No, it's painfully bad. Actual Z-List voice acting.
I wasn't talking about the laugh scene (which was indeed pathetically embarrassing), I was just laughing at what that moron said.
Since you brought up the laugh scene, though, we can talk about that. Everyone talks about how Tidus and Yuna do fake, intentional cringe laughs, and then laugh together for real afterward at how stupid it is. The problem is that it never actually becomes funny for the viewer, it just stays sad.
>The problem is that it never actually becomes funny for the viewer, it just stays sad.
autism
Yes, Japanese humor is autistic. Glad we can agree on that.
But the voice acting in FFX is very good. The audio quality may not be the best in the world, but the acting is very solid. Even made me go check the jap trailers and some random jap ecelebs playing on youtube to see, but it's great.
>But the voice acting in FFX is very good.
Why do FF autists keep pushing this meme?
>Which part did you think was better
I said in every way, or can you not read, tar donkey?
>or can you not read
I can read, unlike FFX fans who need shitty voice actors to read the dialogue to them lmao.
Nomura is an Artist.
The rest are not Artists.
That is it.
To support above anons post (this is just a snapshot from the other day. Overall trajectory is worse.)
so much 12 slander
Please be excited for my next move.
The entire FF franchise is laughable at this point. Anyone who still defends it is a cultist.
Barry isn't here, if he were you wouldn't be breathing....allow me to remedy this. HEED MY CALL, BARRY, THE INCEL KNIGHT!
>shits on a nomura game
>praises another nomura game
>"how does he dew it guize"
7R was literally made under his direction whereas he's just one of three producers on SoP
I welcome the inevitable FFX remake. At this point the garbage remaster that destroyed the game's visuals is almost as old as the original game was when it came out. They're never gonna fix it, the definitive version of FFX that will be preserved on every platform is that disgrace, it can't get any worse.
picrel
That was the intent. You're supposed to pity the situation they're in.
>that lulu
>You're supposed to pity the situation they're in.
I don't pity the situation they're in, I pity the writers for being stupid enough to think this would be an interesting character moment.
It clearly was interesting, as in "inspiring interest," as it has generated endless discussion. If it wasn't interesting, we wouldn't be talking about it.
(I know what you meant to say and while you might have an argument I'm being pedantic to counter your being an butthole.)
>If it wasn't interesting, we wouldn't be talking about it.
I'm talking about it because *you* find it interesting, not because sane people find it interesting.
Well, no. We're talking about it because you find it exceptionally repugnant. It's always brought up by people who think it's bad. So they (you) find it interesting, just in a bad way. I probably wouldn't have remembered it at all if it hadn't become a "so bad it's bad" meme snowball.
>FFXII was so bad even its director had to leave halfway through
>FFXIII is still being hated even years after release
>Not knowing the corporate history
TSW bombed/Enix merger happened right before the beginning of XII's preproduction, causing massive changes in Square's corporate and budget structure. The openness to experimental design that Matsuno's games relied on for smooth production disappeared, and he quit halfway through because execs were fricking with it. It ended up being essentially a single-player MMO because the execs Enix brought in (particularly Wada) had a boner for them because they're cash printers if they're even a modest hit. XIII suffered the same issue, with XIV being announced before XIII was even released and constant push-back on the innovative battle system design (again, Japanese execs being allergic to new things, "Okay but let's make it turn-based??"). XV is a whole thing in and of itself.
Suffice it to say, I don't believe for a second that the guys who each brought us FFX/X-2, FF Tactics/Vagrant Story, and KH all just happen to trip up on their next games. Common thread is the shitty c-suite and board.
Strangers of Paradise is kino
KYS CHAOS
Sounds like you have a bias that alters your viewpoint on how the rest of the world views these games. Sorry to hear you cannot separate your own opinions from the opinions of others.
>how the rest of the world views these games
Most of the world either doesn't have a view on these games, or avoids them because the clown world weebshit aesthetic is so offputting.
The majority of mainline FF games have sold around 5 million copies.. That's like Kirby levels of popularity. They're not nearly as big or well respected as you're pretending they are.
Sounds like you want everyone to be as miserable as you
How is that a response to my post? Are you illiterate?
>most of the world does have a view on these games, they must be shit
>they're just embarrassing weebshit
>even Kirby is more respectable (lol)
None of this is matters and you're just being a salesgay for some reason
Your claim was that "the rest of the world feels X way" about the game. How can that be the case when the world has 8 billion people and FF games sell worse than bargain bin AA titles?
I didn't claim that, Ganker is not one person
Ah, so you just interjected into a conversation you weren't involved with and derailed the topic like a c**t. Bravo.
7gays are so mentally ill
>FF12
Why do people perpetuate this, he left at the final year. Its not like they were going to redo huge parts of the game, but they probably canned some stuff to actually ship a game
12gays are shit-eaters. Shit-eaters are delusional. It is what it is.
moron
Frick Barry, people can't criticize XVI anywhere without being confused with him. Again, frick him and his obsessive love for flops like XV and Forspoken.
Yugiri? Yugiri!
Ah yes, FFXIV, a game so bad it *checks notes* dethroned WoW's MMO dominance
Also, XV was a clusterfrick precisely because Versus XIII was a fricking nightmare because Nomura gets progressively more insane in terms of game scope and unnecessary detail. FFVIIR needs to be sold in fricking chapters and isn't even a Remake, it's a fricking metasequel.
I still love Nomura, the man is kind of lovable in its idiosincracies, but to say that Nomura is the fricking alpha Square director is beyond fricking stupid.
>FFVIIR needs to be sold in fricking chapters and isn't even a Remake, it's a fricking metasequel.
That's like crying about Mass Effect being 3 games instead of one despite telling a coherent story. No one pissed their pants about that one, but when FF7R does it, it's the worst thing ever?
>dethroned WoW's MMO dominance
WoW killed itself. It would be where it is with or without FFXIV existing at all
>FFXVI
Ffxvi is the most fun I've had playing a mainline ff game since ix
Also OP sucks dicks for bus fare and then walks home
>since ix
i love ix but the combat isn't exactly it's strongest point considering just how sluggish it is and how terrible the trance system is
i enjoyed xvi too regardless of it's flaws (mainly environment/exploration)
>mainly environment/exploration
XVI has some of the worst level design I've ever seen in a video game, let alone a Final Fantasy game. It's on par with FF14 in that respect. CBU3 loves their awful level design.
yeah the lead up to the final mothercrystal was especially bad as it was literally
>trash mob
>hold R2 to open gate
repeat that 5-6 times until you get to a miniboss then repeat another 4-5 times til the main boss
There wasn't really a final dungeon. I half expect to see it in DLC a la Re:Mind.
FFXII so kino bioware ripped it off for Dragon Age while Nomura can't make a competent combat system to save his life
>Everything about FFVII Reforged
Black person when the next game comes out I expect the sales to drop by half because of the moronic garbage.
7R was just XIII with a new paint, same fricking sidequests and npcs, same staggering gimmick, same straight line *dungeons*
Easily the most insulting "remake" I ever played
Reminder that Toriyama, Kitase, Nojima, and Hamaguchi also worked on that game.
