I love Final Fantasy XIII.
My only cons are:
The ships are all fcking wrong

oh and going to gran pulse was fricking weird, they need to fluff that up a bit. they just land on there, just randomly do shit like LITERALLY no direction after chapters of being linear and then they get to oerba and the director was like "oh right we still have a story to complete".
Dialogue is a little cringy but the overall plot, character dynamics, music and art direction was one of the best the series has ever been. Don't @me

It did nothing. XII was already a joke of a game with combat that was quite literally designed to play itself and had little to do with FF, and XIII was the last one to actually attempt modern ATB, which was polished in XIII-2.
Yet now it's a trash MMO + action game series. I suppose you could blame LR for being the first to have a single playable character.
XII was grand scale, adventure filled kino. XIII was a dull slog with horrendous characters, ugly visual design, overwrought, melodramatic shit. I delt physically embarrassed when people would walk in on me playing it, more so than Kingdom Hearts, at least they could have a good laugh. FF XIII killed FF's reputation, it became a parody of tiself.

What did it do good?
Character dynamics with some really good moments and payoffs. (yes frick you)
Plot and themes were really good especially in a post 9/11 era. (red pill as frick. Americans did 9/11).
Music is really good.
Combat has a good flow but I admit could use a lot of fleshing out.
