You have no idea how completely devoid of content 1.0 was.
Being better than the original is a pretty low bar.
And yet it just barely made it. All the 1.0 players i played with were very apprehensive about 2.0's simpler mechanics and hard coded role system. I should have seen this coming from the very first time they nerfed tam-tara deepcroft by removing half the enemies even though we were completing it in beta just fine with no tanks.

There were about five of us.
2.0 replaced caravan defense with FATEs, deleted the hamlet defense system entirely which began the complete segregation of fighting and crafting systems, made job stones mandatory instead of a side grade, simplified existing job quests, made job quest instances single player instead of multiplayer, and introduced the raid lockout system, forever fracturing the player base into cliques of 8 people and giving birth to endless static drama. Also Hildibrand stopped being a main character.
3.0 made bosses immune to all status effects, started the lazy "every raid is just 4 bosses" design as opposed to coil where it was clear they had originally intended it to be one long continuous raid but sectioned it off. It also started savage raiding which made difficult content unrelated to story, which certainly killed MY interest in doing it. It also began the new trend of jobs with no associated base class, which was just lazy. 3.0 DRK is also the worst job ever made, it was just paladin except you used twice as many buttons to do the same damage and you had one extra cooldown because paladin has always kinda sucked. Also, flight eliminated the struggle of running through beast tribe areas to do their quests.
4.0 eliminated cross-class actions and replaced them with role actions, eliminating the need to level more than one job and once again catering to casuals. It made job rotations unnecessarily complex and unforgiving, while at the same time eliminating any and all player agency in which attacks you use. It also added the option to do content unsynced, which killed old content dead, where before it seemed like keeping old content alive was a priority for the dev team.
What were Caravan defense, hamlet defense and the raid lockout system?
Caravan defense was basically a more involved escort fate where you were graded based on if the caravan took damage.
Hamlet defense was a much longer ordeal (i think it was a 3 day rotation?) where you'd use gatherer and crafter jobs to build up a supply meter and then on the last day you'd engage in a large instance that required gatherers and crafters to do mechanics to give the fighters in the party buffs while they killed monsters and defended the town. It was very cool, but I never did it. And it had a 3-10% drop rate for an item you needed for relic, but that's another story.
Damn, hamlet defense sounds fun.

Raid lockout means if you did Coil, you were literally locked out of doing it until reset. You weren't allowed to do it for no loot, you were not allowed back in the instance AT ALL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
SE eventually realized this was fricking moronic, and instead just made it so if you did it you fricked everyone else out of loot, which is actually even worse.
How long was hamlet defense and caravan defense? Those sound like enjoyable things to occasionally do, but that's only on description.
Caraven was roughly 10-15 minutes. Enemies were somehow even less interesting than FATE enemies where not standing in the orange circle is the only mechanic.
Hamlet usually took about 20-30 minutes with an average group, but they were very fast with an efficient group due to people grinding hundreds of them for their Relic and endgame armor sets. Don't be fooled, they were extremely basic and as uninteresting as it could get. The crafting and gathering portions were set in a tiny instanced arena no bigger than your average boss arena, and none of it was hard or complex, just mindless shit.
Then of course in 5.0 we get hrothgar and viera and they can't even fricking wear hats because putting a hat on a bunny is too hard for smol indie company, we start getting fewer dungeons per patch, Bozja looked like Eureka until everyone realized they could just do fricking GARBAGE instead of actually participating in Bozja so that content died fast, because ffxiv players will always pick single player garbage over group content. The fact that they defend island sanctuary of all things is proof that if FFXIV players not only have no friends, they wouldn't know what to do with them if they did.
You get 1000 astro per day doing roulettes. After that, hunt trains. You can get it done in a week of very casual play.

Yeah pretty much, unironically. Again, they nerfed the dungeon when players were completing it with no trouble despite tanks not even being in the game. And the trend continued with steps of faith (like three times), then the ARR dungeon revamp that turned them all into linear hallways just like later dungeons because god forbid anyone ever have to think or talk to each other about what to do in the game.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention when they took most of the exp from trash enemies and put them on the bosses JUST to spite people who did the long pull in Dzemael Darkhold and dropped, which of course made full clears of ARR dungeons undesirable, and the dungeon treasure has always fricking sucked except for brayflox.
So how are you going to solve it?

6.0 was great, everything after was not. A lot of people shat on Eureka and Borja when it came out, but not having a grind zone like that unironically killed the game.

The first thing she did when she came in was to immediately cash in on all the built-up lore and momentum that Oda had finely crafted over 4-5 years. As soon as that was over, she went into a weird subplot with The Empire (Roman-inspired) making gas to genocide the magically-abled, which she sort of forgot about and had Estinien resolve off screen. Right after that, had another subplot with CONSTANT and gratuitous scenes heavily heavily implying sexual violence towards young boys. Every fricking patch was a new scene like that, it was fricking insane and 100% her fetish. And this was all still Shadowbringers, which was also shit.
Listening to redditors led to every gameplay mechanic being stripped down and streamlined into nothing, and there wasn't much to begin with.
Now the story is bad, the gameplay just doesn't even exist, and the community is a bunch of hypertoxic tattletails and political lunatics.

Only the low floor enemies have inflated hp since they assume people will be doing those with 4 people. The later floors are too easy if anything. Its definitely easier than the other 2 dungeons to solo.

1: It is *not* a healer's job to dps. It is their job, as in the name, to *heal*. If they have a spare bit of dps time when people aren't taking damage, then they dps until people start taking damage. *Do not* mention it in a party if I'm the healer
2: No matter what class I am, *do not* tell me "that should not be part of your rotation" / "you should not be using that". Skills exist. To. Be. Used. If it shouldn't be part of my rotation or something that I use when I deem necessary, it wouldn't be a button or skill I have.

3: *Do not* act like you know a class type (tank, healer, dps) better than I do. Because you have *no clue* how long i've been playing MMOs for, nor how long in that collectibe time I've played any one class type. Thusly, you have *no clue* how well I do or dont't know a class type.

Removed from the update cycle wouldn't be correct either. Closest thing is 'lacking replacement'. Far as I know Eureka wasn't part of the update cycle once ShB came out, it just got 'replaced' by Bozja. There just wasn't an EW 'replacement'.
Now removing class skills? That's removing content. Squadrons? That's something that was removed from the update cycle and I'm mad about it.

Bosnia is not Eureka by any stretch, it's not even remotely similar in how it's structured and how it plays.
Eureka was removed because of people crying on the social medias and the forums and it was the only fun content this piece of shit ever had.
Just to remind you, when ARR and HW came out, there was this implicit understanding , sometimes explicitly talked about in live letters, that the game was still "recovering its technical debt" to the failure of 1.0 and that additional content would be coming as soon as those issues were ironed out for good
instead of that, the game got LESS content expansion after expansion, and the little content that was left was stripped of all its interactivity, and streamlined until there really was no game there left
A lot of what led XIV forward and kept people interested was the promise of tomorrow, and we got a taste of that with Eureka and then it was a nose dive from there

The initial design of Reliq Quest was for it to be a grind that will take you all expansion to do. I lowkey enjoyed grinding for my weapon at Bozja, it gave me something to do because it was despite its grind new content.
You got to see people frick up the solo instance, grind fates, see people frick up castrum do DRN and even get into DRS. So I was kind of hyped to see what they would do for Endwalkers adventuring foray.

You know how Phoenix replaces Bahamut after 1 cycle? Make the Phoenix cycle have Shiva/Ramuh/Leviathan instead of just repeating Ifrit/Titan/Garuda. Enkindle Bahamut/Phoenix can be changed to just Enkindle to give each Primal phase even more spells. There's a lot they can do with the tools the job already has. Hell, they could even add Odin or Alexander to give the job a 3 or 4 minute cycle.

The story hasn't been very good, and for many people that has laid bare just how poor the visual novel gameplay is. A great story is literally all the game has had going for it.
The next expansion needs to be a MASSIVE pivot to save the game, with less predictable game systems and new things to do and explore and engage with. The game needs to be fun to play and there need to be compelling reasons to play it.

I've been playing this game since 1.0. Every expansion gets worse. Every patch gets worse. The developers have no idea what an MMORPG is, and never have. This game is dead, it just doesn't know it yet. Last time I was on, EIGHTY OUT OF ONE HUNDRED party finder groups were for RP venues. People are just not playing anymore. Maybe they're doing roulettes, but it doesn't seem like it given the queue times people have been posting for things like void ark or rubicante normal, which in theory should be getting filled by roulettes. I see the future of this game being a mostly single player experience for 99% of players. Do the story, unsub til next story. Why do anything else?

There are things I prefer personally about 3.X over 4, and that surely includes X.0 MSQ, but Stormblood era was overall peak in terms of content, job design, fun, all of it. There's not much else to say or poke fun at besides the homosexual shit, it's an ok expansion. There's no borrowed power bullshit grinds, no mandatory side content like torghast, you just do dungeons, pvp and raid. Worst thing you can say about it is that it's bland, the only new mechanic they added is dragonriding which is just GW2 flying.
The pozzed stuff was there before the release too. It's just people aren't having fun with it anymore. And it's just not as good as people made it seem.

yeah, that's in regards to the server they use to facilitate log ins. They do that to prevent the game servers to be overwhelmed by requests; the login servers handle everyone trying to fit through the door so that the game servers can be stable. Its the reason theres always a small login queue even now. Its how endwalker launch had that thing where logging in was a massive, MASSIVE fricking ordeal but once you were in the game was smooth as butter

That's how many people the login server can process, not how many can be on any given server at once. Its why people were in 2 hour+ login queues when the most recen expac launched.

Once the players are logged in, it takes much less work to serve them data as long as the connection keeps itself alive occasionally and the authentication certificate doesn't expire. Data requests like that just have a simple public key preamble and the server compares it to the copy it has, if it matches it serves the data. No processing need, no decryption, no prime number crunching. When the connection is interrupted without a keepalive signal and public key, it de-authenticates that key.

It's a scraper compilation of publicly available data from the Lodestone. You can see people's minions, mounts and levels on it, some of which you get from getting to a certain part of the story, which is how he's dividing the category.
The only margin of errors are the fact it accounts multiple characters and not *players*, and also it's possible people private their lodestones/never actually use the pets. Both of these issues are so minute and tiny it doesn't really matter though: you can play everything on one character so alts are unnecessary thus rare and lodestone is displayed by default and most people never even look at it so don't change it.

See, the game was originally conceived to have DOW, DOM, DOH, and DOL all have equal representation in the story. But Yoshi isn't capable of thinking like that, so he copied wow instead and didn't know what to do with crafting jobs, which were useless in ARR onwards, so crafting and gathering essentially have their own separate game that they play.
Money is part of the crafting and gathering game. It only really crosses over with the fighting game when you buy potions, food, or crafted gear. And casuals don't buy any of those things.
Nah, as long as you've got around 20m for your raid gear/food/pots every 7ish months you don't really need any more. Just doing daily shit gets you over 1m per week so its honestly pretty hard to ever have money trouble.

Presentation was really good (graphics and specially music), going around camping with the boys was very comfy and the fantasy venetia followed by the leviathan fight was absolute kino. The ending and last part fricking unfinished rushed garbage, but overall I really enjoyed going exploring the world and hunting monsters.
