Its even worse. Lets say Venat tells the convocation everything, they listen to her and take preventative measures somehow, and avert the final days. The ancients somehow live happily ever after. Lets assume all this is true for a second.
That timeline vanishes instantly, because the only way for it to occur is if the Warrior of Light travels back from a future that will now never happen, it's a fatal paradox that cannot be averted in any way shape or form and it showcases a massive misunderstanding of how time travel works in FFXIV. Now, morons who didn't pay attention during ShB will probably be going;

ShB establishes it's circumstances as unique and exceptional, a one-time change in the rules using a set of circumstances that cannot be replicated, accomplishing it required the effective end of the Source, Omega, The Crystal Tower and Alexander. The concept that Venat could have done something, somehow figured out a way to avert the Final days without sundering is completely moronic on so many levels I cannot imagine how anyone could seriously believe there's a valid argument to be made there.

Simply let the Zodiark plan go through? And what if you're not one of the ancients, what if you're one of the people who had no say in the plan, but you die anyway? There's no absolute right or wrong in my opinion, but the fact that people suck Emet's wiener while condemning Venat is moronic to me.

You know what the funniest part is? Venat genocided the planet (read: sundered the Ancients and denied them their creation magics, forcing them to evolve into modern Man) exactly once. The Ascian goal involved eight genocides (the sacrifices to Zodiark + seven Calamities), were working on an eighth on the First, would require at least one or two more after that, and then they'd cast Final Solution on the Source and completely delete all terrestrial life to restore the Ancients. By any objective measure or even just logistical/mathematical measure, the Ascian plan involves exponentially more suffering, death and destruction than the Hydaelyn plan.
But Hydaelyn bad because the Ancients, specifically, were affected. Grorious perfect Ancients. It's a very funny case of bootlicking for the "great" predecessor race and I've only ever seen this with FFXIV.
Don't forget that a large portion of the Ancients were also on board with her plan and thought it was the correct solution. And if they didn't do it, the Zodiark faction Ancients would have sacrificed all non-Ancient life to Zodiark again and again without actually fixing anything. People that think Venat is evil are actually delusional.
I'll admit I started skipping cutscenes in the Nier crossover because I never played Nier so none of it made sense to me. Did they actually confirm that there?
It was 'confirmed' in the Nier portion of the crossover, which happened in the really weird Nier mobile game.
The XIV side of things had literally no bearing on the story whatsoever.

There is no time to figure out how to make a weapon that can manipulate dynamis, which people didn't even know existed. Then you have to create this weapon durable enough to defeat Meteion and then figure out how to send that to the edge of the universe, and then figure out how to even monitor the result, without telling people like Hermes.

At most it was an example of how even an advanced and happy civilization could meet it's end, but the whole point of all the civilizations we see is how their end was flawed, often caused directly or indirectly by Meteion. We know the Ea despaired at something they would have known was false. We know the Dragons despaired over something they simply assumed was true, but wasn't. The one constant in all the civilizations wasn't that their existence was hopeless, it's that they gave up. The dead ends themselves is a bit more indirect here, as much of the conflicts *seem* inevitable. The plague in the first bit seems like an inevitable end, but a key aspect in Meteions narrative is that they started fighting among themselves rather than trying to overcome it, they gave up. Similarly the second part they gave up on a peaceful resolution and kept fighting until the end. The third part they gave up on finding new purpose and gave themselves up to indolence and apathy. Meteion suggests that these outcomes are inevitable but the writing of Endwalker IS ABOUT HOW THAT'S WRONG.

The Dragon's situation certainly looked hopeless, but the ultimate reality is that the Dragons currently thrive on Aetherys.
This is part of why it's so tone-deaf to argue that the Ancients would have always inevitably met their end if they had not been sundered or something. While their fate was tragic and unavoidable, there is nothing to really suggest they would have ended up like the Ra-la's, just because could have.

The whole point of the Elpis flowers never changing color is that the Ancients don't give a shit anymore, and Hythlodaeus's rant about sharks is meant to highlight that the Ancients are running out of ideas.

The Ascians were specifically Ancients that survived the Sundering and those they reawakened in the shards. It's not synonymous with Ancient or Member of the Convocation of Fourteen/Thirteen.

The Elpis cutscene wasn't literal. It was an abridged series of events.
How convenient that it was the only time in all of FFXIV that there was an abridged scene showing what didn't actually happen. It gives morons a perfect crutch to call back to when cornered but to immediately step away from with "It's not literal :)" when pushed on it.
It was abridged for the sake of drama. We already know it didn't happen that way from the video we saw at the bottom of Anamnesis, from the shade of Hythlodaeus, and from the Tales of the Shadows that describes Elidibus descending from Zodiark. The way Hythlo walks down the street and then 30 seconds later Zodiark is already summoned should tell you that it wasn't meant to be literal.
Nevermind the way the cutscene itself plays out, Venat is framed as an outsider to everything going on until WALK homie. That one claiming it was completely literal is trying waaaaay too hard to be stupid.

I honestly feel like ffxiv main story would have been a masterpiece if it had just ended with shadowbringers. The details of the mystery didn't need to be explained. Everything in my head about what happened was more interesting than what was revealed. The ancient people were cooler when they spoke in a spooky language and all you saw was their masks.
Their civilization fell for mysterious reasons and one man and a few of his friends were so twisted by it that they were willing to do anything to bring them back and became sympathetic villains. Everything I learned about them in EW just made them less majestic and interesting. The hades fight was the ultimate end fight and blows away meteon. I was emotionally shaken multiple times in shadowbringers but EW was just an ok ride with some interesting scenes but I felt so much less.

So I was thinking the other day, us subsuming Ardbert probably has much further reaching consequences for our character than they let on. Us being able to basically channel him at will speaks to basically his entire being fusing with ours, meaning that all of his memories and experiences and shit are pretty much ours now too.
