Scholars dot spread's radius is enormous now. So you can dot a bajillion players if you get it in a crowd. Even higher if you activate their 50% up on the dot ability.
This is why I play frontlines now, always going for SCH high scores. I've never broken 10 mil but I did hit the mid 9m range on an onsal game where we fought over mid for the entire round.

Well it's not nearly as fun talking about big dick damage when it's actually pretty low damage per second. 7.7 million damage over a 19 minute fight is only about 6700 damage per second, which is mediocre on SCH.

The latter, gear needs to specifically be remodeled to fit the new body shape, FFXIV loads gear as a full torso model that's then swapped out with other parts or has flags set to not collide with longer gear pieces (hence some gloves or sleeves will vanish depending on your torso or hand item)
Most of these bodies come with at least a few popular gear pieces + smallclothes (nude) and Emperor's New naked "gear" but for the most part it'll be ports of gear to the body shape done by individuals and the body creator

xiv is an mmorpg for people who hate mmorpgs, a singleplayer visual novel with co-op and chat room elements. i can't imagine a worse purgatory than someone actually playing every single day of 2023 joining the hundredth party finder for the same 4 bosses in square arenas or aimlessly running past hordes of face 1 suncats with ponytails and ultimate weapon glamors in limsa.
At this point, if you focus the story you only have to interact with other people for 8mans and crystal tower.
The story duties are still single player instances which make it annoying if you're trying to play through with a friend and have to disband and rejoin parties every few quests.
It might as well not be since you rarely see other players unless you're in a major town, most of them being in Limsa or Ul'dah. Outside of that, there's always a gathering of end-game players that just sit in the latest region.
That being said, it's just as much of an MMO as WoW, RuneScape, or FFXI. It's not a "town hub with individual instances" like Guild Wars 1, if that's your concern.

It's not even just Zero. If you actually sit down and try to make sense of Golbez's actions during this entire arc, you realize none of it makes any sense at all. Think about what Golbez was doing. We now know he wanted to feed Azdaja to the Zodiark aether to instill it with the desire to return to the Source, right? So how does the rest of the shit he did even play into that? Zodiark had just died days or weeks prior, so manifesting a voidsent like that couldn't have been a long term plan. And what was it about the Alzdaal gate opening up that caught his attention and made him wake up, call his troops and tell them it's time to get to work, and then send Scarmiglione to eat shit there? He didn't know Vrtra was on the other side of that gate. Azdaja left the Source before Vrtra established a kingdom there. And why did he then send Rubicante and Cagnazzo to destroy the gate? What did that accomplish?
I don't even really understand what he wants to do. Go to the source and die? Why are the Scions so opposed to this, just let them go there and commit sudoku if they want. Their world is a shithole anyway
He wants to blow a hole in the dimensional barrier so voidsent can cross over as they please and finally be able to die. Except doing so would unleash a massive wave of dark-aspected aether on the Source and potentially cause a rejoining. Plus not every voidsent wants to die, plenty of them would just start eating people.
It gets even better when you realize that Gobez's plan before us bring Vrtra through the gate was....nothing. He had no plan. He sent his minions out to try and kill us for absolutely no reason. His dialogue makes it clear that it was only when Vrtra came through, and Azdaja stirred, that he went with the whole "use dragon to awaken Zodiark" shiz.
The only way this massive shit show of a side story could get any worse is if in 6.5 it's revealed that IT WAS ALL A CUNNING PLAN and Gobez actually was 2 moves ahead of us all along and knew we were going to bring Vrtra in so he was waiting for us on the moon and only said it was a spur of the moment thing to throw us off and that actually Rubicante and Cagnazzo dying on the Source caused their souls to rejoin the aether and be reborn as even more powerful minions that attack Thavnair and die easily again.
I cannot wait for this absolute dogshit arc to be over. This has to take the crown as the worst part of the story, and I'm including the ARR Titan arc and Heavensward WHOOPS SULTANA NOT ACTUALLY DEAD LMAO arcs in that.

Because there's a pretty big yet somewhat subtle point about how those in despair want to lash out and bring others down with them. The dynamis ghosts that formed into the Endsinger are seething that they're dead. Thancred brings it up in like the first hour of the expansion and you see the same theme play out with other characters like Amon, Xande, the Garleans, Hermes, etc.
But the feeling of anger also comes across much better in the JP version. In the EN one she sounds emotionless (not to be confused with robotical, which also happens in the JP version).

Go back and compare the scenes when you confront Meteoin before the final dungeon, with all the voices slightly overlapping and reciting memorable lines from earlier. I guarantee you that you will have a hard time identifying most of them by sound alone, whereas in japanese you don't even need to know what they say, the voices are just so distinct.

Primal is the most discord clique-y of all the servers and they basically dictated to everyone to move to aether for some gay reason. Regarding CC, aether was more dead than crystal with a 300 point floor for top 100 so I’m assuming some revival gays are trying to wintrade some alts to top 100
DC travel is fricking over all regions. In EU, Chaos PF is really slow compared to Light, and on the JP side, Mana has massive constant DC travel queues due to the amount of people congregating to it.

As someone who’s taking a break from raiding this tier I didn’t really realize how little there is to do that isn’t raiding. I’m not a housing guy, I’m not an island sanctuary guy, and I don’t find dungeons fun (they’re just too easy) and PvP is so unresponsive I find it borderline unplayable. Jobs are so boring and homogenous that most casual combat just puts me to sleep since I don’t have to pay attention to my rotation or heal kit. Aside from savage content and story, the rest of the game is either not my cup of tea or just so boring that it’s not worth it.
If jobs were as fun as they’d been in the past, if we had an adventuring foray this expac, if criterion were midcore difficulty and rewarded gear (and if gear were even worth getting in the first place) or if there were some other profession system, id would say so. Unfortunately, for me, EW overall has been very weak.
I'd do criterion, but I don't want to do Savage for gear first.
I really don't understand why it's balanced around having Savage gear. It's not as difficult as Savage, so why do you need to do hard content in order to do easier content?
Well, you COULD do it without savage gear IF everyone played absolutely perfectly, so that means you need to get Dalamud and all the plugins that effectively break the game.
But you need plugins to carry your moronic teammates. This game's PVE is actually a disguised PVP mode where your team actively works against you and are more dangerous than the actual bossfight, that's why you need plugins. To help you herd the flock of morons so they don't kill you all whenever one of the 100's of bodychecks happen.
It's impossible to get in any of the very few groups for criterion in 640 gear. I fricking hate gearing in this game anyway. I want to play multiple roles and jobs, but I'm always constricted because my number isn't high enough. Just fricking remove it all at this point
Just get the gear bro it's not hard, if you're not 650 or above on most of your jobs by now (660 on main) you should just give up and uninstall until the expansion because you're too shit to be having any fun.
I took a break in 6.3 because I didn't like the previous 2 Savage tiers or DSR so I didn't want to do TOP or the last Savage.
All I do is PvP and DD because that shit doesn't care about gear. Need more content like that
It's a necessary evil. You need the annoying gear grind to keep people doing duty roulette for tomes otherwise queue times for new/leveling players would get out of control.
But they added trust for all that so at this point it literally doesn't matter. Anyway, the easiest way to unfrick the gearing would be to remove the weekly tomestone cap, the normal raid cap on gear pieces and when the new alliance raid goes live to also remove the weekly token cap (or increase it to 4-5 per week ffs, 1 per week is moronic), they can also either increase the weekly drops in savage or remove the loot restrictions.

Should do the wow thing and make the comedy cap increase every week so a new player at cap can farm it all in one go. Also add a discount if you're buying gear for an alt job and already have high ilvl for another armor type.

It's this, you need to get an version of the shirt modded for the body
The latter, gear needs to specifically be remodeled to fit the new body shape, FFXIV loads gear as a full torso model that's then swapped out with other parts or has flags set to not collide with longer gear pieces (hence some gloves or sleeves will vanish depending on your torso or hand item)
Most of these bodies come with at least a few popular gear pieces + smallclothes (nude) and Emperor's New naked "gear" but for the most part it'll be ports of gear to the body shape done by individuals and the body creator

xiv is an mmorpg for people who hate mmorpgs, a singleplayer visual novel with co-op and chat room elements. i can't imagine a worse purgatory than someone actually playing every single day of 2023 joining the hundredth party finder for the same 4 bosses in square arenas or aimlessly running past hordes of face 1 suncats with ponytails and ultimate weapon glamors in limsa.
At this point, if you focus the story you only have to interact with other people for 8mans and crystal tower.
The story duties are still single player instances which make it annoying if you're trying to play through with a friend and have to disband and rejoin parties every few quests.
It might as well not be since you rarely see other players unless you're in a major town, most of them being in Limsa or Ul'dah. Outside of that, there's always a gathering of end-game players that just sit in the latest region.
That being said, it's just as much of an MMO as WoW, RuneScape, or FFXI. It's not a "town hub with individual instances" like Guild Wars 1, if that's your concern.

there is a lalafell street corner in blamung uldah. Weirdest shit in the world. Basically the quicksand and overflow is the tall humanoid races, and then there is the lalafell ghetto… usually with a skeevy looking hrothgar lurking around.
This. There doesn’t seem to be any form of segregation or alliance between certain races, even in the lore (I think). The love (or hate) of a particular race is more of a focus of the players.
The only bit of racial animus I see between the races is people shitting on Duskwoods and Moonies because they do a lot of poaching and general banditry in the Twelveswood.

It's not even just Zero. If you actually sit down and try to make sense of Golbez's actions during this entire arc, you realize none of it makes any sense at all. Think about what Golbez was doing. We now know he wanted to feed Azdaja to the Zodiark aether to instill it with the desire to return to the Source, right? So how does the rest of the shit he did even play into that? Zodiark had just died days or weeks prior, so manifesting a voidsent like that couldn't have been a long term plan. And what was it about the Alzdaal gate opening up that caught his attention and made him wake up, call his troops and tell them it's time to get to work, and then send Scarmiglione to eat shit there? He didn't know Vrtra was on the other side of that gate. Azdaja left the Source before Vrtra established a kingdom there. And why did he then send Rubicante and Cagnazzo to destroy the gate? What did that accomplish?
I don't even really understand what he wants to do. Go to the source and die? Why are the Scions so opposed to this, just let them go there and commit sudoku if they want. Their world is a shithole anyway
He wants to blow a hole in the dimensional barrier so voidsent can cross over as they please and finally be able to die. Except doing so would unleash a massive wave of dark-aspected aether on the Source and potentially cause a rejoining. Plus not every voidsent wants to die, plenty of them would just start eating people.
All that dark aether can't be healthy for the Source
It gets even better when you realize that Gobez's plan before us bring Vrtra through the gate was....nothing. He had no plan. He sent his minions out to try and kill us for absolutely no reason. His dialogue makes it clear that it was only when Vrtra came through, and Azdaja stirred, that he went with the whole "use dragon to awaken Zodiark" shiz.
The only way this massive shit show of a side story could get any worse is if in 6.5 it's revealed that IT WAS ALL A CUNNING PLAN and Gobez actually was 2 moves ahead of us all along and knew we were going to bring Vrtra in so he was waiting for us on the moon and only said it was a spur of the moment thing to throw us off and that actually Rubicante and Cagnazzo dying on the Source caused their souls to rejoin the aether and be reborn as even more powerful minions that attack Thavnair and die easily again.
I cannot wait for this absolute dogshit arc to be over. This has to take the crown as the worst part of the story, and I'm including the ARR Titan arc and Heavensward WHOOPS SULTANA NOT ACTUALLY DEAD LMAO arcs in that.

Why do dubgays constantly try to trick people? The only english VA who does a stellar job is Zenos, everyone else acts much better in the JP version, Emet-Selch included.
Dubgays are usually people who cannot recognize good acting in a movie or in theatre (as if they ever visited one) either.
Because there's a pretty big yet somewhat subtle point about how those in despair want to lash out and bring others down with them. The dynamis ghosts that formed into the Endsinger are seething that they're dead. Thancred brings it up in like the first hour of the expansion and you see the same theme play out with other characters like Amon, Xande, the Garleans, Hermes, etc.
But the feeling of anger also comes across much better in the JP version. In the EN one she sounds emotionless (not to be confused with robotical, which also happens in the JP version).

Go back and compare the scenes when you confront Meteoin before the final dungeon, with all the voices slightly overlapping and reciting memorable lines from earlier. I guarantee you that you will have a hard time identifying most of them by sound alone, whereas in japanese you don't even need to know what they say, the voices are just so distinct.

DC travel is fricking over all regions. In EU, Chaos PF is really slow compared to Light, and on the JP side, Mana has massive constant DC travel queues due to the amount of people congregating to it.

As someone who’s taking a break from raiding this tier I didn’t really realize how little there is to do that isn’t raiding. I’m not a housing guy, I’m not an island sanctuary guy, and I don’t find dungeons fun (they’re just too easy) and PvP is so unresponsive I find it borderline unplayable. Jobs are so boring and homogenous that most casual combat just puts me to sleep since I don’t have to pay attention to my rotation or heal kit. Aside from savage content and story, the rest of the game is either not my cup of tea or just so boring that it’s not worth it.
If jobs were as fun as they’d been in the past, if we had an adventuring foray this expac, if criterion were midcore difficulty and rewarded gear (and if gear were even worth getting in the first place) or if there were some other profession system, id would say so. Unfortunately, for me, EW overall has been very weak.

I really don't understand why it's balanced around having Savage gear. It's not as difficult as Savage, so why do you need to do hard content in order to do easier content?
Well, you COULD do it without savage gear IF everyone played absolutely perfectly, so that means you need to get Dalamud and all the plugins that effectively break the game.

This game's PVE is actually a disguised PVP mode where your team actively works against you and are more dangerous than the actual bossfight, that's why you need plugins. To help you herd the flock of morons so they don't kill you all whenever one of the 100's of bodychecks happen.
It's impossible to get in any of the very few groups for criterion in 640 gear. I fricking hate gearing in this game anyway. I want to play multiple roles and jobs, but I'm always constricted because my number isn't high enough. Just fricking remove it all at this point

It's a necessary evil. You need the annoying gear grind to keep people doing duty roulette for tomes otherwise queue times for new/leveling players would get out of control.
But they added trust for all that so at this point it literally doesn't matter. Anyway, the easiest way to unfrick the gearing would be to remove the weekly tomestone cap, the normal raid cap on gear pieces and when the new alliance raid goes live to also remove the weekly token cap (or increase it to 4-5 per week ffs, 1 per week is moronic), they can also either increase the weekly drops in savage or remove the loot restrictions.
Should do the wow thing and make the comedy cap increase every week so a new player at cap can farm it all in one go. Also add a discount if you're buying gear for an alt job and already have high ilvl for another armor type.

That's what Urianger and Thancred were talking about last patch. They're going to be working against us because they got hired by the other guy.
They realized they want to keep the VAs across all regions and splitting up the scions ever will be a clusterfrick in that aspect.
