I dunno about the pvp dev, but yes re. 4 dudes for all the classes. What's worse is it's the same 4 that have been on the team since ARR. They started with 10 and now have to create and balance 19 classes when they dont even have 1 job dev per role (caster, healer, tank, mdps, rdps). Them being the same 4 also means there's nobody introducing new ideas at all.
It's no wonder they're homogenizing, they're probably creatively bankrupt and burnt the frick out.
Do you truly consider that, with a game as simple as this one, they need more designers and devs?

pve content in this game is designed to be doable by literally anybody (yes ALL of the content and yes LITERALLY anybody)

There is somr skill to understanding mechanics faster I guess, but there truly is no room to really carry people in fights besides DPS and if you can clear an ultimate with more than two people doing basically no damage then that's because of new food, pots, gear, or just sync discrepancy in the case of old ults and savage. Your progress is dependent on those you raid with, not you.
Old ultimate titles are giga devalued at this point because of powercreep and because turns out they were mechanically simpler.
UCoB - Can be cleared with 7/8 carrying a dead body, the 1 time there's 8/8 towers you can tank lb for a slap on the wrist damage down
UWU - Can be cleared with 7/8 at the cost of making Suppression cursed because someone gets 2 sets of mechs
TEA - DPS check is lenient, you can carry a troll through LL and even LC if they get an early number. Still have to know Inception and Wormhole
DSR - DPS check is lenient, if healers are good at rezzing on a spot you can recover a DPS dying in most mechanics. Also you can just give the DPS the easy spots.
TOP - DPS check is still tight, most phases mechanically require 0 deaths to not wipe. This is where Zepla got destroyed.
TOP prog goes a lot smoother when you use a sim. It's baffling that TEA and TOP were made by the same person. It's just so divorced from the Omega fights it borrows from, there's a bit with hello world and the fists and the aoe/knockback but it's full of stuff that was never in O11S and O12S.
It's fricking criminal that TOP doesn't use any of the other fights in the raid in any way. Why the frick is there no phase with God Kefka, Exdeath or Midgardsormr? They went into EW Dynamis wankery instead of the ultimate tournament fight, when the dynamis shit should've been saved for the inevitable Endsinger Ultimate
Because everything in XIV from here on out has to be ancient wank or dynamis wank, that's when majority of players started so they're the prime audience. The game isn't FFXIV anymore, its Shadowbringers: FFXIV.

SB had really set the standard. The PvE content added to the game was insane. I get axing the second dungeon, but having an exploratory zone and deep dungeon, along with some of the best 8man and 24man raids in the game, was absolutely insane.

They've pushed the limitations of 250ms delay as far as they can go back in Heavensward, there hasn't been anything new since then.
But even if they do that, they dug themselves into such a deep hole by homogenizing jobs and removing all RPG elements, that there's no way they can feasibly bring that stuff back without losing the never-unsubscribers in droves.
They've also lost all their competent writers by the time Shadowbringers rolled out, the main plot was a whole ass retcon of absolutely everything and the subplot was about an evil natsee dude who rapes children because that's Fujokawa's fetish. She also started another subplot about Garleans gassing people, again muh natsees, and promptly abandoned it when someone gave her the memo that the empire is based on the holy roman empire, not 1930s Germany.
FFXIV can never recover, if you've played during Eureka and Baldesion Arsenal, you've seen its WotLK phase and now it's over.

They didn't let us cool down enough after the literal cosmic apocalypse before shoving us right back into multidimensional peril. Finishing the story on 6.0 gave them a blank check to wind back the stakes, let us do some actual adventuring without impending doom. They looked like they were going to do it in 6.1, but the first treasure map we find just so happened to lead to the void.

To compare it would be like ending Shadowbringers with Emet shooting the Exarch and 6.1-3 going to Amurot to wrap that up and rushing Elidibus in 6.4 and having 6.5 have all of the shit related to fandaniel, getting the scions back to the source, and the towers.
The pacing issues would be insane because the story would be gutted to, expand Garlemald I assume? That's ignoring the rep factions, the trial series, and the relics too.

Wrapping things up neat and tidy is a anomoly not the norm. Theres still doors and buildings from ARR they added just in case they wanted to add a dungeon or new area a decade in the future. The very zone based nature of the world is designed not just for ease of loading but to future proof it for new shit later.

I've never been much of a cash shop spender, but I completely checked out after the 8-person mount price point. Absolutely indefensible, and I unapologetically judge anyone I see with it because they are part of the problem.
The problem is that Final Fantasy XIV is a carbon copy of WoW. No matter what they do, it will always fall into the same problems, because they didn't make a game of their own.

Nah I replayed HW recently and found it to be more enjoyable than EW. Its pacing was far better. The best example of this is with the moogles. The moogles were a cute diversion that were done with in 5 quests. The loporrit filler lasted for hours in multiple zones.

Can't agree with that. The structure is scuffed but there really wasn't too much story to tell. If they cut the first section in ala mhigo and allowed a bit more time for the siege at the end it would have been fine.

Nothing happens in the early Rhalgr's Reach part that we didn't either already know from Baelsar's Wall (resistance decimated and needs time to recover), or will re-learn from Yanxia's peasants (Yugiri gets copy-paste Lyse scenes about peasants not wanting to fight and die, and Lyse even takes over the resolution of that arc so it's extra dumb). The expansion doesn't take a forward step until literally halfway through with the 65 dungeon and executing Hien's plan, and then has to blitz through the actual campaign from there.
Which is why we don't have time to actually learn how to beat Zenos, and Urianger just appears out of nowhere to hand us a magic anti-Fordola item.

I think its a bit of a fake out thus far. We know he wants to use Zeromus to open a voidgate. We know in 6.5 we are going to the first with zero, probably to do with edens ability to rebalance aspected aether. we know they expanded the map not just to add tu'ral but also meracydia. There is a piece of fanfest concept art showing a mamoolja ziggurat leaking void aether into the air and nothing forces people to align with dark forces like a battle for an empires throne.
I don't want it to happen but its entirely possible we are getting another stormblood and the new worlds going to be three zones like othard and meracydias another two like ala mhigo and the void shit continues. I dont want it to happen and in fact think it would be a fricking disaster but theres shit that could line up even if i dont personally want it too.
We are going to throw the light on the first to Zeromus to break his shadow barrier (don't know how, maybe using a huge Atomos again, idk).

Realize that their profits are declining and they actually need to upsize shit instead of having a small team eat shit again, instead of hoping the cashcow provides infinite profit so they don't have to do anything. Plus they need to realize the game is just pissing about at this point and not really feeling like it's trying to invest in any one thing worth a damn anymore.

It's a guaranteed way to throw yourself into the "limited" pool and they're definitely not gonna give you something like tanking abilities on a DPS job without it again being super-conditional, like Titan-egi only being useful for that purpose during ARR and some of HW back when SMN still threw out egi pets.

it's a facebook idle game that your mom probably plays, unironically. you can grind to max level if you want, but it's so much less time-efficient than just doing dailies that the only people who did that are attention-seekers and botters. you get literal thousands of exp for doing dailies at the higher levels, while gathering 1 node is 10exp from start to finish

Unironically join IS discord to have an optimal setup for your workshops, both daily and weekly depending on how much you care about the profit. It has a bot that can make you a custom schedule on lower IS levels, and it also posts *current tier* schedules daily. Don't slack on it, workshops are a great source of EXP, same for expeditions and MANUAL gathering of animal shite and crops.

DRG combo used to be shorter, and instead of doing fang and claw and wheeling thrust back to back it was random which one you'll get so you needed to stay focused all the time, especially because missing a positional back then was like a -50% damage and at the time even broke your combo.

I actually don't understand how the playerbase can hate on healers but love current smn, rpr and mch
because they simply just don't play healers in the first place and avoid the problem entirely
SMN's thing is being flashy, RPR's thing is having slow filler and moron-fast burst, MCH's thing is going 1-2-1-2-1-2 all the time. I find it very hard to actually make a comparison to healers without overblowing each job's relative simplicity or APM
Don't really hear much on MCH, but people do occasional rip on RPR, and a lot more on SMN but those Jobs do more than use two abilities on average for damage and are visually better.
Not really defending those jobs, I can see where you're coming from, but Healers have it a lot worse so they're the Nail that rise above others on the issue.
