criterion savage has a lower clear rate than all of the third wing of pandaemonium savage, that's abysmal, as well as BA and DR savage which are considered some of the least forgiving content in the game due to the fact that you need a billion morons in there to do it and any frick up hurts
notice the massive dropoff between the clear rates of the first non-savage criterion dungeon and the second, as well
IDK and DRS but BA was not hardcore at all when I did it which makes me question your entire post
BA is piss easy with only 10 of the 56 players need to know what to do, everyone else just needs to not fall off platforms. DRS is actually hard unless you have paid gays carrying everyone.

Yeah unfortunately XIV had a really weird bloom problem thinking back on it
1.0's lighting was a little overtuned where anything yellow/white bloomed pretty easily, even in interiors. It did give it a slight dreamlike quality which helped sell the fantasy look though.

Nothing to do when you hit level cap, zones with nothing interesting in them, blatantly unfinished, maps are designed to accommodate systems that weren't developed at all and probably never would be. Bizarre focus on unique classes that stood in for traditional jobs, which is why the game gave up and put in jobs and AF armors after Yoshida took it. But hey it had more mocapped cutscenes than current retail FFXI does!

I meant they are harder than regular DF shit but easier than savage/ccriterion stuff.
CLL and Dalriada are barely harder than Alliance Raids; hell, you can do Dal with 4 healers and a tank with the massive echo buff you get. Maybe there were wipes week 1, but now you'll maybe see half the alliance get wiped out by Obey on the final boss of CLL, but never bad enough to wipe. I've seen more wipes on the Nier/Mhach raids than I've seen wipes in Bozja.

I did Dalradia day 1 with 5 people and it was literally impossible to die to everything except like 1 of diablos' attacks.

I've always seen the first 2 fights as midcore and the last 2 as hardcore. Like if you're doing EX fights and calling them midcore then there's no reason why you can't at least do the first 2 fights every tier
In my experience of SHB and END's first and second eight man I found it:

Pure rng, this minion's only on Ophiotauroskin/wheel maps. Fastest way would be with full party for more dps, but that also means it's you against other 7 to get it.
ime it appeared every 50 maps or so.
But your main gains from maps will be from all the other items, plus it passively gives gil too.
8 players, 2 maps each are 300k-400k without selling anything, 200k if rngesus hates you that day.
Dont forget about door maps, they give different things and you never know when mkb will fluctuate for those.
From my point of view we need more SB normal and alliance raid difficulty content

the one thing I miss from old pvp is healing. PvE healing is the most boring thing in the game, it's entirely timelined, spam 1 then occasionally press a single ogcd heal or two in between pressing 1.
pvp healing, meanwhile, was entirely reactive. your tools were more fun and you made a measurable impact on the game. i could keep an entire alliance living through the onsal mid clusterfrick. it was engaging, it was fun, it was an easy way to farm commendations. nu-pvp is generally better but i hate what they've done to the healers
You missed out on Slaughter. It was the most healing intensive pvp mode they've ever done. WHM especially was super fun with nutty CD's like Sacred Prism and being able to 1-shot people out of position every 30s with Fluid Aura.
They need to drop positionals. I refuse to dance around the boss when the entire comvat design in this stupid game is about dodging aoe spam and other reasons to stand in specific spot at specific time crap.

IIRC JP is big on DRK/RPR. But they've also developed countermeasures where there are even dedicated "headhunter" squads of MNKs that specifically target any DRKs. From what I've heard, NA PVP is basically the kid-version of JP PVP. It's far more coordinated over there.
I've heard Frontlines is like night and day, where each alliance has a leader who does the marker spam thing to drag the party to where they need to go. You sometimes see it in NA, but nobody gives a shit.

No, it's more like they're taking pokes at it around the time X.3 starts. New patches aren't actually built until around a week or two prior to dropping (check the build dates on the title-screen), the development speed is pretty neck-and-neck with its actual release window; they aren't sitting on some massive amount of content and withholding it for no reason. If they did that they'd have years' worth of shit already done.
I'll honestly take it over having to do nothing but grind tomes again. Bozja fricked up allowing you to grind outside fates and blu mage just finishing them as soon as they popped but it's lost actions were better than logos actions

I haven't played since shadowbringers launch. I tried to take a free week and came back set up my UI talked to some friends and realised how shit the post ShB quests were and uninstalled. What exactly is bad about the rest of the content upto now? I'm curious how it hasn't recovered.

If you thought the post ShB quests were bad, Endwalker managed to make even worse ones. They focus around a voidsent who is more bland than white bread. She solves everyone's issues because everyone around her drops to subzero temperature so she can have a time to shine. Currently, you beat Golbez's dick off for him to go "NUHUH" and stand still on the moon for another 4+ months to power up further.

To be fair, that's FF4 in a nutshell.
tl;dr: We start out as what seems to be a fun low stakes adventure with Estinien and Y'shtola guiding the action along, and it turns into a slightly more involved project about rescuing someone from the Void for spoiler reasons.
Soon as we get to the Void, we meet a character that pretty much hijacks the entire thing, basically picture the most predictable "teaching a robot how to feel" plot you've ever seen, except she's also terribly written because nothing she ever says is consistent with what she actually does, and every other robot already knows how to feel and acts perfectly human.
Then there's Golbez, who spent 3 patches just sitting on his ass in the distance ranting about how he's got a plan and hyping it up, only for it to turn out that he's also terribly written and everything he did during those patches goes directly against his plan.
Also every single other character that gets involved has to turn several magnitudes dumber because if anyone ever pointed out these inconsistencies or predicted the awfully predictable sequence of events, the whole story would immediately fall apart.
At least Golbez's fight was cool.

They're really just overdoing it with the mechanics this expansion making them way too complex for the average person, even hardcore players. SE designs the content in this game very tightly. Trying to balance 19 different jobs is already hard enough, if you add in more variables you enter a sea of unintended consequences. Talent trees will never work in this game, so if you want customization play s different game.

literally the only fight in the entire expansion with an add phase. in addition, the add phase was done very well and filtered tanks and sometimes even healers like no tomorrow. 'fof prog is actually just adds prog' became a catchphrase in pf. i still have fond memories of summoning phoenix at the start of add phase and immediately ripping aggro from the adds and dying because the dumbass tank didn't know how to take it back
i like that most of the mechanics are separate and just expect you to do them immediately. i really dislike fight timelines where they slowly 'teach' you one simple mechanic and combine them. it just leads to to become bored out of your fricking mind for the first like 3 - 4 minutes of every pull, it just makes prog even more mind-numbing. p7s was the worst offender of this type of design
bro p12 p1 was boring as shit to heal, absolutely pathetic damage output. i also didn't like the extremely janky snapshots, i feel like most ffxiv players are simply used to garbage engine so they say deranged shit like 'shitty snapshots are ok just learn the timing', not realizing that what's happening is that they're simply conditioned to enjoy eating shit, the total disconnect between what you see on screen and the effect would get any decent game released today roasted in criticism. the fact that as lasers, you had to run inside the boss to avoid being clipped by towers in sc1 out first then in, or the awful snapshots of the half cleaves, or the fricking godawful angels in sc2b just soured my opinion of the whole fight. sometimes i feel like i'm the only sane man screaming into the void when i view this as cbu3 taking this godawful ancient game engine and pushing it past its breaking point to just make mechanics 'harder' by making them resolve so much faster than what is shown onscreen

There's always ways to balance it, like you dont get to use the skill like 6 mins into the fight. Effectively its a personal limit break in a way and if lets say 6 mins into the fight you can choose between dealing a shitton of potency or dealing less damage and removing damage down and rez sickness as a WHM, I think that will be really interesting. The dps checks surely can be balanced with these skills

Talent trees would be redundant for this game. If talent trees existed it would just be something like RDM having a melee tree, a magic tree, and a support tree, instead of how it currently works where it has ALL of this in one job. Just play MKX/MK11 if you want a game where every character had their movesets gutted in favor of customization.
From a mechanical standpoint the way that each job is handled, the intention is most probably that each individual job is a "talent tree" for the larger role, like you're "speccing" into Dragoon or Monk for Melee DPS or "speccing" into White Mage or Sage for Healer.
