EO is easier to solo because you don't have to worry about double-autos killing you on later floors if you aren't a tank. PotD difficulty comes from how tedious it is to even reach the hard part each attempt.

It's just mentally ill chartposters, they sprung up around a certain point in ShB and like noted they can't even read what they are posting. Their purpose for doing what they do is to make themselves feel better by trying to put down a game that other people like, in doing so they hope it'll save the honor of the game they like.
A MMO like XIV is going to have a natural ebb and flow to the player count, one that you could see happen in real time when the rising event started.
The game hasn't changed, it's the same it's always been. The only difference is that they tried to swap in new content in the place of an exploratory zone (which in itself has only happened twice) and it didn't work out. What really matters is that even still with part of the playerbase being unhappy that the game is still growing despite this being the late expansion lull.

Back in the day, Diadem was the endgame for slightly better than Raid gear if you were lucky in the Diadem Emergency Mission. Check out some YouTube videos, it was like a proto-eureka.
PotD & Garo PvP gear was also the endgame at the time. Clearing out the side quests and Gold Saucer were other activities. And now you can do a bit more as they added stuff after like Blue Mage (Get everything you can, as 70 BLU is pretty fun). Go to YouTube and look up "FFXIV before:2017" for context of people's opinions.
Fun fact: after SQEX announced end of PS3 service, PS3 players got to play for free.

I had some fun with ffxiv but I'll never play it again. the "penalty" for partying with real people in ffxi is extremely minimal unless you had a full party of players. you just need shantotto II to magic burst and any number of players to SC. and then once you get to max level trusts become all but obsolete and can't even output a thousandth the damage of a real player.
if you got filtered by modern ffxi, classic ffxi would have torn your tonsils out through your anus.
It's a simple fact that (gameplay wise) ffxi is the best it's ever been. SCing every 10 seconds is more fun than SCing every 3 minutes. They have released relentless quality of life updates for 20 years and as such, the quality of life is best now. The best time to play FFXI is right now and always has been.

In some cases like this pvp armor it wouldn't matter but in the grand scheme it's not a good idea to allow anyone to wear anything. FFXI added this mechanic a long time ago and it completely destroyed the games style, instead of opening up more options for people it allowed them to simmer things down to a few looks and you cannot escape everyone using the same gear.
Yes I know level 1 glam exists and essentially already causes this issue in XIV to a degree, but it would be even worse if the floodgates were opened. Yes I also know the FFXI autist is going to explode now because someone mentioned it.

now, you may have a point about gear not actually being used for anything, because of what i refer to as the wyrmhero blade problem. the ultimate weapon of FF12 that requires you to kill the 3 hardest bosses in the game to get, but then there's nothing to use it on. and there's not a huge gap between BiS in x.55 and AF armor in the next expansion. gear really is only for parsing after a certain point. i honestly can't decide if i think thats a problem however, as it sort of sorts high end pve into a niche like other progression systems. Eureka, Deep Dungeons, Bozja, gold saucer games, pvp for example. I was going to put fishing but fishing gear can be used for the other two gatherers too. also, the less important gear is, the more toothless arguments like meta-slaving becomes, esp. among those who don't understand why meta is meta and just parrot it.
i personally don't have an answer, as i feel that the current answer to the progression issue is about as good as can be implemented within the bounds of the dev's state philosophies. there are certainly issues with ilevel. personally i think that all MSQ activities, or anything thats in a roulette, should just have an assigned ilevel that it syncs you to regardless of what you're wearing, like bozja/eureka. and to throw a bone to parsers, have a in game speed clear challenge for raid fights and criterion with titles or glamours.

What the frick are these peoples problems - Regardless of the fact i'm a sprout player i'm doing my job but doing Shadowbringer dungeons at least give some breathing room for my CDs to pop if you can't be arsed to heal me properly and pull ahead yourself.

That's easily reportable and you'd actually get feedback on them being banned, which they should because frick mentors. The easy answer is to do what the healer is comfortable with, you can check and see if they are geared/higher level being synced down or if they are a sprout as well and their gear isn't that good.
Healing isn't hard in this game but there are certain dungeons and points in the story where a healer who is playing through for the first time is not going to be able to keep up.
That's good to know for next time. I have no idea why the mentor healer and dps thought steamrolling through it ahead of me would somehow make things go faster when I was doing my job anyway. It's unfortunately a problem with a very specific part of the playerbase and gaming as a whole these days, people have no consideration. Anyone using the mentor crown is a risk so treat that as a warning sign. It's funny as you said because it makes things go slower, it's harder for a tank to get aggro and makes the whole dungeon a chore to run.
In general though yeah just check the healer and gauge how competent they are.

Based on how we see the fiends again we could just figure out how to unlock a memoria crystal and then seal Zero within it and taker her with us to the first.
