I haven't played Fall Guys in about a year. Did they add anything substantial to it?
They added a create mode, the catch is they're only making rounds with that now and officially it's currently very limited. There's a mod for an expanded create mode with more options and fewer limitations that can even publish levels that can be played on consoles.
Here's what official creative levels looks like,
?si=JSkmPksKdcNJ-K2k
And here's what modded creative levels look like,
?si=pNFow6DS4WXbt8-4
It shows great potential but who knows if that potential will be met before Epic shutters the game.
From what I can tell, Epic Games buying Mediatonic and making Fall Guys F2P was seen as the seeds that'll revie it to quarantine peaks
...Until the new seasons started dropping and they basically nurtured it. Removing several pre-existing rounds due to the switch port not being able to handle them during SS3 and SS4 are basically the breaking point for everyone. They now make every level in the shitty undercooked level editor instead of in-house. Quite sad honestly, Fall Guy's peak years (Season 3 - Super Season 2) were genuinely really fun.
>due to the switch port not being able to handle them
Just how unoptimized was the game? For all intents and purposes, it's a very basic game from a technological standpoint. There's never that many active physics objects at any given point.
Mediatonic devs are pretty inept, plus Unity is pretty shit
Wait really? I didn't intend on installing it on my PC due to EAC but that's sad to hear.
yea they added a whole weeb mmo around it
This shit still exist? Wasn't it supposed to be dead for a few years already?
It will be dead by the next time Yoship wants to bring the collab back, Epic has already fired the original staff on the game
FFXIV's development is embarrasingly slow.
They probably greenlit and started working on this crossover around the time it got popular, it just took 3 fricking years to actually do because XIV's development team has been gutted since stormblood.
Thats also the reason all the EW content sucks ass, and they just ignore the feedback people have about it rather than fix shit like they used to.
troony colors
This is the elephant in the room. Everyone ITT is in denial their video games are used as a vehicle for troony propaganda. At least get real.
Oh, shut the frick up. Red and blue are the basically the foundation of all tri-color schemes ever. And I mean EVER. Going back 300,000+ years to the first colored cave paintings.
If you want to b***h about anything, b***h about trannies stealing common words and themes and forever tainting them with their mental illness.
It's bait you stupid troon
There's a degenerate flag for every combination of colors at this point so they can look for coincidental overlap and celebrate like it means anything.
Teal and pink is a pleasant composition and I'm really disappointed it's appropriated by gender larpers.
I figured Yoshida was too honorable to sell out like this. What a disappointment.
Did you miss the yokai watch collab somehow? XIV is king when it comes to collabs nobody asked for.
yes just like yoko taro they both will sell out.
It sucks because there's no interaction with other players. The last level is complete RNG too with the untelegraphed aoes
>complete RNG
why do people keep saying this
the yellow balls go from left to right
left to right with some having high patterns and low patterns
It's exaflares moron
fall guys fad is way over, what were they thinking
I'm upset at how well done it is for a fricking limited time event
something like this should've been in gold saucer from the beginning.
They said they're going to have it rotate in and out. Dunno if it'll be seasonal or not.
So what's the in-game explanation for the crossover?
there isn't one, beyond "hey these little bean homosexuals showed up one day, they look kinda cool
Let's build an entire attraction around them"
Wait, the bean guys are in the actual game? What's their name? Beast tribe status when
there are like four of them in the lobby, but all they do is wave and say "woo" when you go near them
they're about the size of most minions iirc
Is one of the crystal braves involved in the quest?
no its all contained in the gold saucer
Canonicity not looking good bean bros, best we can hope for is a Hildibrand tie in to make it official.
Godbert is the one who found them and learned to communicate with them.
They're probably voidsent
Technically the voidsent classification is given to any creatures alien to the Source, not exclusively natives of the Thirteenth even though that's how it gets used most of the time now.
>no ready way
I can think of a few.
sex guys
cheers to never doing this again after winning once
this is way harder than fall guys
Because real fall guys actually relies on reflexes
Because fall guys isn't designed for 0 ping japs?
I'm at 21 wins, what's everyone else at?
Yes I stole this image idea from Pinklala
you sleep rather soundly for a image thief
>On the last stage
>Get to the stairs
>Ball falls on the left side
>Move to the left at the first possible instant
>Ball falls on the right side two seconds later
>Still get hit
These fricking yellow balls are 2x as laggy as literally every other obstacle in the game. Never have I been ghost hit so much and so egregiously than by these things.
For every ball I get fricked over by, I inexplicably dodge one of the sword hits even though the hitbox has me dead to rights.
Same. I still have not figured out how I need to adjust myself, but it sure as shit is not savage raiding movement.
I feel like I've gotten used to the 5-second delay jank on everything but those fricking yellow balls. they still always get me in the most bullshit ways imaginable
The balls have 2 spawn patterns.
First set is higher, second time through they go lower. Watch for it.
I give this "content" one more week before it gets less players than Mahjong
Speaking of Mahjong, is there a plugin or some shit for this? Holy christ almighty, my OCD demands getting that Orchestration scroll but I can't for the life of me wrap my head around the game. Keeping a cheat sheet next to me is helping, but I'm losing my mind and still not managing wins. Someone tell me there is an easier way.
>i want thing
>thing too hard to get
>plugin plz
>have thing
>earned this
worker smarter not harder.
>why does everything feel cheap and hollow
sounds like a (you) problem
get a plugin, maybe you can figure out if you're right with one
Imagine being too dumb to get mahjong. I can understand irl being too difficult because you have to do the stupid math.
FFXIV fans truly are the joke of Ganker Ganker.
Imagine not having 100 wins already
share the plugin
Imagine living through other people
Japan actually found the optimal route, that gave them a 80% winrate so easy climb
share it
Waiting for the realer real fall guys
me finding the optimal route on dynamis
homie how? I was there during euro low-pop hours and still got 24 people.
There's a bug where you join an instance solo. Even during prime times it can happen.
I tried this at like 6-7 a.m. and there were a bunch of people anyways
Honestly, I feel I have a higher chance at the crown with more people because the earlier stages are far less cutthroat
The final stage is just based on how lucky you get with the starting position because the left side has a huge disadvantage
Cute lizzer
I get most of my wins from people who stick to the right side and are unable to read when the first yellow drop requires you to flex.
Really? I usually am able to just dart straight ahead when I spawn on the right side
First set of yellows can either spawn high or low, one of em fricks the path
Yoshida could personally shit in every one of their mouths and they'd thank him for it.
it's probably easier to just go through but i find moving into an exaflare that just went off way easier on the left side but i always get lucky in the last section
They do start on the left sides, so if you have the right timing you can avoid them all perfectly basically.
but big grin i've won all my crowns from the left side, i just wait for the 1st exaflare to go off and move to the second one shortly after
Do you just spam the registrar until you get in one? It seems very inconsistent.
Alright so this is what I know about it, and I'm not going to lie about this being consistent or anything.
There is a old bug in the game where if you queue faster than a server is ready, you get put into a solo instance, try it sometime with Leap of Faith by queuing in immediately when the npc shows up.
Its hard to force, but you can increase the odds a bit by leaving queues at 24/24, but more notably you can get into 10 person lobbies which are way easier to win (other people spamming for the bug). Then any time you get the holy grail of a true solo instance, don't just waste it. Practice round 3 until the timer is up.
I did this a lot and now I'm winning regular games.
Now that you mention it I did get a game right after a room was a bout to start. I'll have to give it another shot on dynamis later, thanks.
>no desire to do any of this shit when I can just glamourer everything
But it's more fun when other people can see it too.
>Fall guys reveals just how awful the server to client connection really is
>Reddit comes out of the woodworks to defend XIV anyways
>reddit is a circlejerk
no shit
go back
Make me gay boy
How come this guy managed to upset the cult? Did anyone even give a good counter argument against this guy that didn't involve having a meltie and a hissy fit because someone is genuinely worried about the state of the game?
That video has a lot of shit takes but that one bit he showed of Xenos hit the nail on the head.
That singular clip of him playing damage control made him seethe so hard that he sperged as hard as he did with those cringey reaction videos.
No XIV content creator is gonna give a critic of the game. Its against their best interests to. I'm still of the opinion theres a massive silent majority that doesn't give a shit about Dawntrail and isn't getting it.
so the minority that's going to get dawntrail is somewhere around 1.2m going by current player numbers
is there a silent majority of an extra 3-4m hanging around
who
This guy hasn't played the game since ShB and deleted their character to boot.
game hasnt changed since shb.
His video had shit from 6.1 though
Yeah, you just get footage from someone else.
Proof?
Look at the player name in the gameplay. C'mon.
the game has been on a loop since stormblood anon
And? You can look at how the game is now to say you don't like that it hasn't changed since ShB
If anything the fact he has a ton of hours and stopped gives more credence since the opposite would be
>if you hate it so much why are you still playing?
>And?
Why should I give a shit about someone who hasn't even engaged with the shit they're talking about for at least a couple years and is essentially regurgitating a game of telephone?
I know Ganker loves to pretends to be experts about games they don't play but come the frick on.
>If anything the fact he has a ton of hours and stopped gives more credence since the opposite would be
No, he quit and deleted his character because he was worried about the game eating up his life. It's the ramblings or some embittered frickwit farming views and you all fell for it.
Source: I know his editor (you won't believe me but whatever).
I don't have to engage with modern savage to know I won't like it
I never had fun in P1S-P4S and knew to cut my losses then and unsub, and based on what I've watched of the same since, the design pattern hasn't and won't change
Though I did come back just for BLU, but even Eden savage wasn't fun for me either; BLU being fun enough on its own was the only saving grace
I do think he used some really moronic points and didn't provide anywhere near enough examples, but the overall message resonates with how I've felt about the game
He hasn't played in 3 years, quit because FC groomer drama (unironically), and he was seething about shit removed that was universally disliked. Like Attribute Point allocation, being disingenuous like it was some kind of special thing, but it really wasn't.
His ramblings was basically what you see here on Ganker of "OLD GOOD, NEW BAD", where they'll lie and say that 1.0 was the best thing ever, despite never playing it. In his case, I think he started in Stormblood or something, right?
Even Asmongold, who hasn't played in over a year, was calling out how it sounded like he was angry at the game for something that happened to him personally, and not in the interest of it as a whole.
Lol I just remembered one of the things he complained about was wall bosses. He just sounds like a bitter virgin, because no reason was provided other than "they're just standing there"!
Curious how Xeno also hates wall bosses but when the video brought it up he said they're good
xeno likes attention he doesn't have real thoughts or opinions
Things Xenos has said
>Mechanics getting Stale (Stack,Spread, Look away)
>Game has not changed since Shadowbringers
>Homogenization is a problem and too many jobs are too easy and play the same
Yet in his sperg he pretends he himself has never said these things.
It was the overuse of those mechanics, but there has been new ones in each tier that were well received. The sperg Lynx is acting like there hasn't been anything new since he played, which is completely false.
>new mechanics
>ffxiv
let me guess instead of stack spread it was spread stack(unique marker)
>P10S web walls and bridges
>P12S Superchain
>P12S Pangenesis
>P12S Caloric
That's this tier alone and I'm probably forgetting some
gee do you remember how you execute those mechanics moron-kun
Oh are we playing reductionism? Please invent new mechanics that would operate in the engine
also
what if we had to jump between platforms
The game can handle it.
We had that back in Syrcus tower but now the boss dies to fast to ever see the mechanic and they never brought it back.
>what if we had to jump between platforms
You already have a near-assured chance outside of statics of any push with a ledge killing at least one player in any boss fight that does it, even MSQ trials. You just want to see half a dozen people frick up the jump and die horribly, pressing the jump button on a timed situation isn't really adding anything but yet another instant death mechanic with no real risk if you aren't moronic or lagging.
yes
Yoshi literally said they would never make jumping a requirement in a fight.
Oh I never said I expected it, this game is formulaic to a fault and we'll get spread stack lookaway until the end of time.
I know yoshida mandates nothing ever changes.
>Yoshi said
Void Ark Cuchullain
Never believe anything this man says
yoshida has said a lot of things that turned out to be untrue
For future reference, when you want to make such a statement it is helpful to use examples to strengthen the believability of your argument.
You're getting the idea but all you've done, is post text with no referenced, signatures, sourced material. As an outsider all I see is text that anyone could have wrote in a Word document.

Now what
> Yoshit finally changes MCH in ShB after connecting to an NA DC and seeing how it works with "reccomended" ping
So full of shit
Why is this Black person such a liar, genuinely asking. I'm still surprised he pulled that shit with BLU and everyone memory holed it and then he just adds in DRK as a completely different job than it's ever been missing all of it's abilities.
I swear if this homosexual hadn't made SAM DPS I would fly to japan and kill him.
"It works fine for us in Japan so it's fine for everyone else, right?"
>we are going to rework all arr armors to have tail and ear holes
Yoshi says a lot of shit. Still waiting for that official add-on api he promised that was almost complete back in heavensward
>web walls is a spread
>Super chain is a stack or spread with towers
>pangenesis is stacking ending with teathers
>caloric is just ulta-specific spreading/stacking
>ulta-specific spreading/stacking
nisi?
Almost all the new mechanics were in criterion tho.
The savage tier had one new mechanic The P10S tank launches. Nothing else.
The only thing I dont like about wall bosses is that it feels like you're just doing a dance in front of them and the sight of you swinging your weapons around damages them.
Its also hilarious how bosses like Engels who are really far away, ranged attacks have go at sonic speed to actually connect to their hitbox.
Yeah see, that's a personal preference that I understand. But when someone puts that in a video trying to doompost about it, saying the game is dying and is bad because of that one thing... well, it just sounds cringe and deserves to be shit on.
>boring copy paste thumbnails

This is depressing, move back the servers to montreal
The fricking netcode really make this mode horrible.
Arthars is the only honest streamer, his only downside is liking cringe fights like TOP
Arthars is a moron who'd sooner want the game to be an endless gear treadmill like WoW where only HC content exists. After he said criterion savage is midcore content I knew he was a moron.
>deep dungeon mobs
>extreme tier fights
How is it not midcore?
>extreme tier
hell no
>extreme tier
?????
its harder than most 1st/2nd savage fights
So extreme tier, at least the good trials
>t. moron who hasnt even touched savage
Says the shadowbaby who never did thordan, sephirot, nidhogg and shinryu on release, the first and second savage floors are always fricking easy
No one's buying your shit lmao
Who is *no one*? shadow babies like you who think every extremes is just following 1 guy?
Just don't even reply to homosexuals like that, anyone who thinks or even implies EX's are easy is a parsetroon angry at one ultimate or has never progged them without being in call with someone.
I got hard filtered by rubicante's wheel shit.
Rubicante had brain dead patterns.
Same with Zeromus claw mark explosions.
It's tedious to solve those kind of mechanics properly.
You just learn the easiest way to recognize the pattern so you can identify the safe spots quickly.
The answer is to make more fun fights like barbariccia and rathalos
>Just recognize the pattern
Holy frick why did I never realize this.
One death and its over, across a 20min encounter. That level of endurance is closer to an ultimate. Hell, we had a healer death on patch in DSR at the start of dragon king and still cleared.
To compare, an extreme fight falls over in 8min or so, let's you have multiple deaths and there's only one or two team wipe mechanics. In criterion savage if your dps fat toe was in something 15min gg reset try again.
The event fails because of FFXIV's notorious latency issues. You never know what is going to hit when, despite what appears on the screen. It's not suitable for rapid-reflex content like that.
I don't even get the point of this collab, honestly. These games have nothing in common. It feels awkward and out of place. They will never top their Nier collab at this rate.
It's because of fricking EGS exclusivity shit SE has been doing
only for nomura games, fampai
>You never know what is going to hit when, despite what appears on the screen. It's not suitable for rapid-reflex content like that.
how to spot someone who doesn't raid lmao
its just like any other savage shit that doesn't have an aoe indicator, just learn the timing
You didn't refute the point at all.
>not doing it exclusively at 3am so you get solo games
ez game
People who say dumb shit like "savage is midcore" have 4000 hours in the game
Savage raid is midcore
Criterion savage is hardcore
damn they got no ass
>look at those child-birthing hips
>pan up
>they are malera
lol
FF14 is a memorisation game.
There's no need for reflexes or quick thinking.
It's all a matter of memorising the patten and executing it.
If you want to beat the course literally just memorise the parts to run through.
>honey its time for your dick flattening
i hecking love these beans
Working as intended
>mini game crashes server
Fall Guys reminds me of playing Titan wayyyy back in 2.0 when the servers were janky as hell, so it's nostalgic in that sense.

Thanks for your blog post about winning at Fallguys. I can't wait to read the rest of this thread and enjoy the mentally ill lalafel spammers. That werid kate golbez schizo poster and the general discussion where any criticism of this game gets you labeled as a wowhomosexual or something.
>they will never revert ast to hw mechanics
>so i will never go back to xiv
its that simple
don't like fall guys just do this instead
why is that roe so fast
speedhack, what else. you can set yours to like 10% mid-stage to make it less obvious though
It's still pretty noticeable when people do that shit on the typhon stage. Had a gnb that was definitely moving faster a few minutes ago.
What do we think about "You pull You tank" mentality, is it true that the tank sets the tempo? Is it against ToS?
no the dungeons have a very fixed tempo
deviating from it just makes you a moron
it mattered in the days of yore when enmity management was actually a significant aspect of combat and people were generally more respectful
these days you just do everything with trusts so you don't have to play with subhuman wowfugees
ypyt is against the tos. anyway it makes no difference how much you pull to the tank, it’s the healer whose workload changes, so it doesn’t really make sense for a tank to go ypyt
I don't care if healer or dps pulls as long as they bring the enemies to me, I'm not going to go running after your unarmored ass.
I agree completely with it, it should always be the Tank who sets the tempo as the unwritten rule unless you as a dps or healer ask and come to agreement before hand.
It's moronic. A half decent healer can heal a dps through a trash pack if the tank refuses to do his job and pick it up/ isn't pulling wall to wall. It's why I queue into dungeons as a healer since if the tanks going to be a little b***h I'll pull for him.
For newer players don't do what this homosexual is saying. He's too afraid to be a Tank for the responsibility but wants recognition that he is the most important role so has to act a homosexual and instead of being harmonious with the group he stands out like the Nail, ready to be Hammered.
What. Just pull until you can't anymore and then press a cooldown. There's one pull in the whole game this might not work if your party can't hit buttons. If you're going to play tank but are too pussy to wall to wall pull idk why you're playing tank.
I already said you're a homosexual because if you want to set the tempo then you'd be the Tank but you won't because you're too afraid of the social anxiety that the focus of responsibility would be on you.
What anxiety the frick you on homie. I've already maxed my tanks. At least with healing I can save a lot of dumb shit that happens in random groups.
>Max levelled my Tanks
>Levelling is the same as Maining
moron, levelling is one of the easiest things you can do in this game, play a single MSQ and you get 1-2 levels.
We're talking about dungeons, that's the whole point. What wall to wall pull exists in savage/ultimate? Wall to wall savage criterion pulls?
>Wall to wall savage criterion pulls?
Good luck with that.
>leveling is one of the easiest things
No shit but its not like expert is any harder, infact someone could easily make the argument that leveling is harder than expert for tanks/healers since you don't have your full kit and subpar gear. Even still, both are braindead and neither affords you any bragging rights for going in as tank.
If you aren't pulling wall to wall you lose tank privilege, at this late in the patch cycle a healer can literally tank the whole-ass pack if your entitled ass feels like 1 more group of 3 is too much lmfao
NTA but I go in as healer in dungeons because it's much more possible for a healer to carry a dungeon than a tank. Also how the frick do you get a superiority complex from tanking dungeons?
t. cleared TOP as PLD and DRK
Let's see those Parses big boy.
>like the Nail, ready to be Hammered.
you will never be japanese
You will never be a Tank.
its 100% true in deep dungeons
Tank sets the tempo but if a dps/healer can pull the mobs to the group faster than I can then go ahead, just make sure they are brought into the aoe of other mobs. Sages/Nin are pretty good at running far ahead and getting mobs faster than tanks
If I haven't pulled everything then I missed it and appreciate you pulling them to me.
The best part of being a tank is fighting an army's worth of mobs and be the only one standing when the fight ends.
I can't beat the 2nd round. I got the mount, will get the minions too, but man this reminds me of why I stopped playing Fall Guys.
It's very accurate to the main game and all of its trappings, right down to the unskippable cutscenes.
You guys ever miss Pablo? I mean the real Pablo.
How do I have sex with Statice?
gpose her fricking your character like I did.
post fall guy plugins NOW
if you use cammy you can look at the pattern ahead, and more importantly flycam watch sprouts fail
I am unsubed.
When is the yokai watch event happening?
If it ever comes back, it'll be in the 6 month drought between 6.55 and whenever the new expansion releases.
Whenever you feel inadequate, just remember that there's an alternate universe version of yourself who completely mogs you and got the girl to boot.
I'm only realizing now that the only reason the augmented gear exists, besides for saying you've completed more of a grind, is solely to get more raid-worthy gear so you can raid more as a self-fulfilling cycle. For my casual ass who won't touch that shit, I have no reason to bother, apparently?
Do you like the glamour? They lock dying behind Augmented stuff so there's sort of a casual reason to get it.
Stand and let thing resolve.
How about you fall into some b***hes
I can't decide whether this or the real Fall Guys is worse
This.
Real Fall guys at least lets you interact with others.
You cant even chat with people in this.
this is worse, mostly because there's next to no variety due to the nature of a collab, and there's so much fricking lag and wonky dick bullshit with FF14's code, never mind all the awkward wait/downtime. fall guys has annoying physics ragdolling with falling too far or getting smacked around, but you've got a ton of different shit to do at least, and it's a lot snappier in presentation and lets you troll opposing players.
This is way worse because in true FFXIV fashion, there is no randomness to it, every map has a "correct" route. they all have the exact same cycles.
Once people poopsock it enough to memorize the exact patterns its going to be even more miserable than it is now. And once the plugins come then damn this shits basically a fight over who lives closer to commiefornia
Never played fall guys but I at least see that there's a somewhat high skill ceiling when someone streaming it does something like lets a hammer hit them in such a way where it propels them closer to the goal. XIV Guys has zero skillshots or clever ways to manipulate the obstacles into helping you.
FFXIV is too formulaic to embrace any sort of player expression or agency in anything, even a mode like this.
The game will be a homogenized blob right down to the last bit of content.
When I got to the 2nd variant dungeon, the hidden route requiring the player to jump was the first time in the game I can recall this actually happening in gameplay
>tim tencent has to somehow salvage his chiBlack person shit by getting other devs to add his chiBlack person shit in they games

>the game had no loading screen between zones
What the frick?
Game used to have a lot more soul.
Yes and it ran at 15-20fps on most machines, the cutscenes looked amazing with full mo-cap but the actual gameplay was complete dogshit.
The only thing I miss at the no loading between zones, everything else is far better in what we have now. Don't be blinkered by Nostalgia gays.
I played the game on a good old fashioned Dell and it ran at 30fps so I never got this complaint about decent PCs being unable to run it.
Yea this shit is a lie. I played it from launch to shutdown and I was running it on a budget gateway laptop back then. The big thing people leave out was a couple of graphics options were legit just broken and killed your fps. I can't remember which but if you disable a few things in your graphics control panel rather than in game there was like zero difference quality wise and the game ran fricking amazingly.
the big FPS killer in 1.0 was a graphics quality setting that very poorly labelled. it ran on a scale from 1 - 7 IIRC. choosing anything from 1-4 was sub-sampling the game, effectively lowering the resolution and increasing performance. level 5 was just native resolution. 6-7 were gpu-melting super sampling settings. however the way it was labelled implied anything under level 7 was below average when in fact level 5 was baseline
The gameplay was similar to XI in that it emphasized resource management. It was starting to feel alright by 1.23, even if it never would have taken off like this style of gameplay did. Not every MMO needs to be WoW, or I guess it does if it wants to make money.
I still wonder what the game would be like if they kept developing it. By the end 1.0 was legitimately looking like a solid successor to XI.
There were loading screens, but it's more like the big three cities straight up had tunnels going from area to area inside of them rather than loading screens; actually leaving/entering cities and going between different field regions or dungeons still loaded. However, the original game was also both more ambitious and not at the same time. You had giant regions that took a long while to traverse, more maze-like in structure, but less visually distinct than some of XI's fields and often filled with copy-pasted routes and paths, same with dungeons. You had more of a story that felt kinda reactant to things going on around eachother, but despite the mo-cap cutscenes 95% of the plot was in more of the same emote-dictated speech bubble stuff. Bosses weren't so formulaic, but then you had to contend with a frick-awful targeting and engagement system and menuing that overcomplicated even XI's clusterfrick of menu UI.
1.0 could've had potential if it had a cohesive vision that developed it instead of tons of outsourcing, but it was doomed from the outset.
1.0 spent all of its money on grafics and none of it on the actual game
there's a reason why literally everyone shat on it, well before any boogeymen people could come up with nowadays existed
It had nothing to do with budget. The game wasn't ready for release yet, it was in an alpha state when the CEO told them to ship it NOW because he wanted to compete with Cataclysm.
1.0's biggest problem was a totally unrealistic release schedule on a dogshit engine. If the morons waiting even 6 months more, realistically a whole year, we would be looking at a very different XIV.
the engine being forced from the push for the FNC was one of its many, many glaring flaws yea
>people wanted a savage tier boss rush mode instead of more fun dungeons that aren't a hallway
I just want more fishing
I didn't ask for PVP, but I love it.
How did a Damcyan antlion get to Thanalan?
>try fall guys
>it's just "run and let things resolve"
Holy shit these devs can't do anything at all.
I keep having moments where I dodge something I know I was in, and get hit by things I know I was out. I guess that adds variety/
If I recall the engine couldn't actually handle the seamless world and they had to close off Uldah's main gate and let you go in the side entrance to break the line of sight due to crippling lag.
That was just the loading screen. Every area had a really long hallway between it so it could load without a real loading screen.
Running through the areas in a private server really made me wish XIV 1.0 kept going as a sort of XI style game with slightly more active combat and not the insanely painful sheathing/unsheathing mechanics
It sounds so much fun just spending an afternoon adventuring through the Shroud fighting enemies that (ideally) have bespoke fighting patterns/quirks that are more than just autos and small circle/cone AoEs
that is a lot of assumptions for a game that would just be fighting the same random treeant enemy you did in every other mmo
Don't accuse other people of making assumptions when you have no clue about the game yourself. XI and 1.0 trash enemies did have a lot more going on than current trash enemies. You'd probably get your shit pushed in if you tried to fight a 1.0 dodo.
I'm not saying the enemies wouldn't be harder, I'm saying you're expecting way too much out of an mmo, or are just romanticizing it in your head.
You can go load up XI now (or one of the private servers that try to be XI Classic) and go grind out some goblin you find, the combat wouldn't be (that much) more interesting than the braindead stuff in XIV.
I've played XI and XIV both for a long, long time, and you're wrong. Current XIV trash mobs outside Deep Dungeon and Criterions may as well not even exist. All they do is auto attack and occasionally do a small AoE. You just group up 20 of them on top of each other in dungeon pulls an AoE them down without a thought. They're not engaging. There are no flans you have to trick into hardening so you can effectively hurt them with physical skills, there are no uragnites that hide in their shells to regen and counter you with poison gas if you keep whacking them, there are no hidden chigoes that pop out if you walk past them and Disease you into the grave, there are no Imps that just completely frick your shit up and make you incapable of doing anything but can be disabled themselves if you hit them properly and break their toys, there are no skeletons that can have their mass AoE drain disabled if you smash their skulls, etc.
At least the jobs would be pretty different from each other
I love XI, and even though most melee jobs now are weaponskill spam, they still have lots of secondary things going on to feel fresh no matter how many times I play them
Any XIV mob now can only do AoEs, but it wouldn't be unrealistic for an expanded 1.0 version's mobs to have a little more going on
>there will never be another ffmmo
>doesnt even matter if there is because no one with talent works at cbu3 or SE anymore
thats pretty shit.
thank fricking christ
xi and xiv both are a blight on the franchise
not as bad as the fnc but still pretty fricking bad, mmos have always been a disease to rpgs
XI didn't do anything that wasn't started with the trainwreck of X-II
xi was an mmo
it had some good designs, for an mmo, but it was still an mmo
Just being an MMO didn't damage the franchise as much as shit like Kingdom Hearts, FFX, Advent Children, Dierge of Cerberus and all that slop making FF into a laughing stock. Seires went from telling charming stories with real characters to dumb anime slop.
Then when FF13 came out and the memes spread about it being a hallway simulator, that shit still sticks with the series to this day.
>Seires went from telling charming stories with real characters to dumb anime slop.
you're so close to having an argument
ffx is regularly said to be japan's favorite, even without wakka memes
I liked FFX
I dislike FFX-II enough for it to retroactively ruin FFX for me.
>I dislike FFX-II enough for it to retroactively ruin FFX for me.
That's fair X-II and all of the other story shit they released was piss awful.
>lumping FFX in with that other trash
Don't be moronic
FFX really was such a good game I have no idea how they fricked up the narrative with all of those sequel books and shit.
It had perfect themes and characters.
>single player only gays still don't know that XI is SakaKINO
What fanbase? The Final Fantasy fanbase/ franchise? If it wasn't for FF14 there wouldn't be anymore franchise.
The XV fanbase.
>What fanbase? The Final Fantasy fanbase/ franchise? If it wasn't for FF14 there wouldn't be anymore franchise.
and whose fault was that, exactly?
not to mention the boy band
Really blows my mind how kitase shilled the frick out of 13, it flopped, and then they still gave him a get out of jail free card.
Thank frick they cut tabata off before he did the same thing.
It's genuinely irksome how much of Square-Enix's limited success at this point boils down to a handful of veterans that they have to put as front billing on their products like Nomura, Yoko Taro or Yoshida now, and far as I can tell Taro is simply the crazy ass guy at the office and only Nomura still has anyone's genuine respect at large that isn't cultic behavior. And even that's dwindling with the amount of people that blame him for VII Remake when he was the fricking tardwrangler for the crazy ass writers.
The moment these old men retire or simply quit / are "pressed to leave", Square doesn't even seem to be prepping or setting up anyone worth a damn to follow after them.
Everything new Square does has overinflated sales expectations and dies. Everything old Square does has these old frickers livening it up and trying to drastically change things that stop making it what it was, or literally make retread sequels of laziness. The Enix part is just trying to do their own shit and their crazy ass composer is finally gone but when Dragon Quest literally sells as a traditional franchise and got b***hed at into the DS game turning from action co-op to turn-based, I can't imagine the series can ever truly do much more than be DQ either.
Frick man.
You better start believing in the great video game crash of 202X.
We're already in it.
I recall wayyy back when people used to joke that a FF7 remake would only happen if SE desperately needed money and were out of ideas.
Well they're sure milking that shit years after people stopped caring.
Even with all the fricked up shit in 7R it was much better than I expected out of modern squeenix.
7r2 might end up actually being good from what they've seen but that could easily change when the game's out
7R's gameplay was incredible and should really be the standard going forth. They managed to do action combat and still have it feel like Final Fantasy with the ATB charges.
I'd definitely want that or SOP for mainline if they're determined to make it action.
XVI was never not fun with dmc combat but a lot of the systems were kind of lacking.
again could all be smoke and mirrors but they've done nothing but show off the 200 random things you can go and find in 7r2
I dont know, I was not impressed at all by XVI's open world, and we're seeing more of that in 7R2.
Its going to be more souless invisible wall slop.
16 was open world? but yoshida spent half the interviews saying he didn’t want to make an open world game
People do still care, and Square themselves quite literally admitted that at the time as the emergency button of sorts. But then, get this, Nojima and Kitase, two of those old vets who have been writing with the company since before VII and Kitase in particular, decided that for whatever reason "VII is so known by everyone that we should really throw in new twists and surprises to create a brand new experience for fresh and old fans alike," loosely paraphrasing.
We got alternate timelines, time jannies, Sephiroth doing some weird mental time travel shit while Aerith accidentally spreads foreknowledge of what's to come like a flu, and Zack antics in a parallel timeline. Like, no one fricking asked for this shit except for the morons retroactively proclaiming they prefer it better this way. No one wanted Rebuild of Compilation VII.
>The moment these old men retire or simply quit / are "pressed to leave", Square doesn't even seem to be prepping or setting up anyone worth a damn to follow after them.
They were trying to set up Yoshida's team for that. Maehiro, Soken, Koji, Ishikawa. But XVI shit the bed so at the very least nobody gives a shit about Maehiro anymore.
XVI just shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what a game needs. They focused way too hard on combat that is, if we're being honest. Worse than a real action game like nier automata or dmc.
Outside of that the narrative is just boring it's inoffensive in the most horrible way and strange in the not funny way.
As much as people shit on SHB, and even though SHB wouldn't be as good without ARR HW and SB, it really feels like ishikawa smelly fujo she is, is able to write a good framework story that makes you give a shit about the characters and their struggles.
I did not give a single shit about any character in XVI except maybe Clive, Jill and Dion, and even then I barely cared about Clive because he feels like Eren but not a total loser. The game just made me feel confused at what I was supposed to be getting from it, felt like SB DRK quest had better overall narrative cohesion than the entire game.
The devs admitted the game went through so many rewrites so fricking often that they came up with Vivian's political map just so they personally could keep track of what was supposed to be going on at each stage of the story. And it shows.
Honestly the moment they announced that the cutscenes would have automatic, pace-breaking "here's lore, character and world summary bits with every key phrase mentioned" shit, I knew there had to be problems abound. You're either a cinematic game and/or you're an incredibly linear game with no real room to build the world organically, and surprise, just like XIII's logbook bullshit the developers had massive writing issues that they had to make sense of with side info.
I thought the story was overall fine.
Besides barney being a wasted character and MAGIC BAD at the end it was pretty nice. Cid, Josh, and Dion were absolutely the best characters though.
Yeah I guess I'm just upset at the ending. I just hate the stupid fricking "and then all of the magic went away" into a timeskip endings. Feels so half assed and uncreative, tactics being basically post apocalypse ivallice is probably the best I've seen that trope done. Even if it was a retcon.
After the NFT announcement and how badly they completely fricked crystal chronicles I knew the company was done for. I have no idea what the suits are doing, they used to be as culturally relevant as the PMC. Now they're just known as the guys who do graphics engines.
It's so disheartening to see something like p5 and random indie slop get praised for reinventing the genre and gameplay style that they popularized.
Company is fricked man.
>Crystal Chronicles with no local co-op
I'll never stop being furious
>No local co-op
>No shared story
>Dogshit connection that still wasn't fixed
I just have no fricking idea how they completely botched such an easy slamdunk.
The money printed itself.
I don't miss 1.0 story having you as a gormless onlooker for most of the time though. I get you're supposed to be a green adventurer but I do appreciate the more active role they take now. And it's still real funny that they murdered your adventuring companion off screen and your character never once gives a shit.
i don't really think being a mindless attack dog for the scions, i mean your handlers, is much of an improvement of anything
Why did I spend two months of my time on this game I'm a moronic shiggy diggy frick me
>100 wins for a title
Get fricking real Yoshi
You're not meant to do it all in a single week anon fricking hell.
It goes away in month and a half.
Yeah, so that's two months it gives you 8 weeks and some change.
>get to the 3rd course finish line first
>run up against it waiting to be recognised
>3 full seconds before another player catches up
>he fricking gets ported to the winner platform immediately
Nuke Japan again I'm NOT kidding.
Why do you make 2 XIV threads this is just damaging game discussion
>Game discussion
>On Ganker
>Bungie misses revenue target by 50%, fires 10% of staff and delays the next Destiny 2 expansion by half a year
>WoW announces another lackluster expansion no one's hyped for in 8 hours
>FFXIV Xbox version coming this spring
Hope you're all ready for the second deluge.
You're forgetting the part where Blizzard does some dumb controversial shit, then covers it up by making one of the Overwatch girls trans.
Its less than 24 hours away.
>Blizzard CEO caught raping child in back alley
>In other news, guess which Overwatch character just came out as trans
Its going to be D.Va
All the shit they keep adding to it is making me not care, and its going to burn people out. Its already had battle royale that also shut down, and nfts.
And you know Aerith isn't dying. SE is so fricking toothless now.
BDII was just really unremarkable and didn't push the envelope at all.
Featured an entirely new set of characters, cool I'm down for that.
Except they're just clones of the previous ones.
Kinda felt like playing a bootleg of the original. I think people wanted a higher budget game considering it was a console release, yet it had less charm than the 3DS Game.
I liked it more than B2ND though.
>Spend 8 million years denying the moira is trans headcanon
>Bust it out when the CEO does coke off of a toddlers belly
unironically genius play.
>Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default feel more Final Fantasy than actual final fantasy
>SE manages to frick up those games too.
God you do not know how much I have been seething after this pile of shit came out
how do you go from a near-perfect masterpiece to a slightly worse game to garbage
I mean, I KNOW why, they gave the game to some random z-list chinese dev, but it still fricking hurts
Isn't Octopath Traveler 2 a massive improvement over the first one?
t. haven't played either just the impression I got from seeing occasional posts
why'd they get rid of Akihiko Yoshida anyway
>FFXIV thread
Can only talk about the better mmorpg.
criterion trash mobs can only do patrols, it's insane how uncreative they are
anything relating to dungeon design is inherently fricked. no effort patterns, no more unique gimmicks, no more cool ideas or weird boss strats or anything, only Variants get to experiment with that shit anymore and surprise surprise, the island is plain dumbed down compared to rokkon
>the island is plain dumbed down compared to rokkon
what the frick are you talking about
every variant has been notably more complicated than the last
The only thing I can think of offhand from there would be the 'charging' mechanic the samurai guy had but that's pretty much just the fire/water mechanic
>tell matsya to fish or not to fish
>choose rubble or sand for his bait
>save zozone or not
>kill treant and crawlers on sigil with treat first or not
>run off past flowers to spook critters or not
>follow fairy or not
>touch treasures or not
>touch statues or not
The most complex thing here is the entire secret path ritual mess. I'm talking about the actual dungeon, not the boss design, almost everything else is really basic binary decisions besides the treants and ritual.
yea and every other thing has been do thing or not do thing
i think the only non-secret path thing you had in ass was the grape shit
Which is fine by me, frick esoteric dogshit I need to look up a guide for. Subterrean was so unfun because of that.
You don't need a guide for anything, zoomzoom. The instructions are literally given to you in the records you unlock. Stop being a moronic homosexual and making everything worse for people who actually like video games.
>zoom zoom
moron do you think I didn't read the notes? either the hints were esoterically generic or tied behind routes that were from different paths I didn't bother doing it.
I prefer exploring one path and getting everything from it then moving on.
Metroidvanias are only fun when they're actual metroidvanias.
Do you even know what a metroidvania is? Maybe that's why you couldn't catch the hints in the notes, because you don't even know what the frick words mean.
No I couldn't catch the hints because they were down routes that I wasn't doing dumbass. Can you read or are you having a senior citizen moment?
Then maybe you should actually try doing the fricking dungeon instead of looking up guides you moronic homosexual.
>NOOOO YOU HAVE TO STOP DOING ONE ROUTE AND GO DO THE OTHER ROUTE ANON EVEN IF YOU JUST WANT TO FOCUS ON ONE AREA THAT'S THE WAY I LIKE IT!!!
No, die angry about it. Hints should be tied to the route they're relevant for outside of secret route. COPE Black person.
>Hmm, I seem to have hit a dead end. Maybe there's a hint in one of the other pathways.
Such a simple thought is all it takes. But I am white after all. You just want quick easy shit because you're not actually interested in variants at all, you just want to check the content off your list. Exploring and solving puzzles are white man games and you'll never understand, Ranjesh.
>Hmmm mayhap I should stop working on this one pathway to frick off and do a random one because my ADHD demands it
You have never played a dungeon exploration game, why the frick are you even talking to me right now? making hard walls during exploration is the worst way to design something you're meant to do multiple times.
Even if I consneeded that they should be obtainable in other pathways why would hide all of the hints behind a completely separate path?
You might have a point if I could leave the current route mid exploration and go check the new route free of obstacles but I literally need to finish the entire route.
Worst case scenario I'm banging my head against a wall on a third run trying to figure out how to flip the switch that makes the hamsters ass fat only to find out that the sequence for said switch is in a completely different route meaning I have to go through that route. Come back, do all of the mid boss shit and then flip this one switch.
I know you won't read any of this because you're literate but that is objectively shit dungeon design. Aloalo is way better and the hard bit(the secret route) is satisfying to piece together since you can actually finish one route by banging your head against it like a chad.
>accusing other people of being adhd after admitting you want guides if you aren't presented with binary choices
>accusing other people of not playing exploration games when you think you shouldn't need to backtrack and get hints and key items from other areas first
There's nothing satisfying about Aloalo. You're not banging your head against anything. There's no thought required when you pick between the sand pile and the rock pile.
Heavy irony in this post.
>accusing other people of being adhd after admitting you want guides if you aren't presented with binary choices
I want guides so I'm able to finish a route moron, why are you so bad faith when anyone can read my post? even if the hint is locked behind the other route they don't even indicate that that might be a possibility.
>accusing other people of not playing exploration games when you think you shouldn't need to backtrack and get hints and key items from other areas first
When did I say backtracking isn't necessary? there is no "backtracking" in criterions you dipshit like I said this isn't a metroidvania where you clear one path, hit a wall but unlock something that makes getting back to that spot easier.
It isn't even like basic b***h dark souls where you can grab shortcuts that incentivize stopping.
I am literally re-doing entire boss fights just to flip one switch because the hint for it is tied to a completely different path.
Aloalo is satisfying off of the simple fact that it fixes the glaring design issue with the first two variants. But it's obvious to me you're a doomsissy if you think aloalo being readable and the routes being completable just by doing them naturally is bad design.
I give you permission to reply to me with more seethe.
>Aloalo is satisfying off of the simple fact that it fixes the glaring design issue with the first two variants
it's the same shit as the other two, the frick are you schizo rambling about?
>if you call me a moron for wanting easier bullshit because I'm a stupid homosexual that doesn't want to go down different routes to find clues like you'd do in any other adventure game then you're a... a... y-y-you're a doomsissy!
Yeah you've lost it dipshit. Start throwing out those buzzwords because you exposed your low IQ and even lower attention span.
>NOOOOOOOO IT'S BAD BECAUSE I DON'T GET SIMPLE EASY CHOICES I DON'T WANT TO EXPLORE I DON'T WANT TO SOLVE PUZZLES I DON'T WANT TO DECIPHER CLUES I JUST WANT TO FINISH THE CONTENT NOW NOW NOW IT'S MY RIGHT I PAID MY SUB IT NEEDS TO BE SIMPLE I NEED TO FINISH IT IN ONE GO RERRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE
>Such a simple thought is all it takes
Pablito.....your ESL is showing....
is this autism?
Hermano pablito....dios mio...buenos noche....
Sounds like you are just a brainlet if you ask me.
That's still leagues above anything else.
Untrue, see
But I agree? What I'm saying is the bar is so low for trash mobs that patrolling and kiting with a rare silence is the only way they'll ever be somewhat engaging in XIV
Not really. Delubrum Reginae Savage had trash mobs which were part of setpieces with unique mechanics.
I was only ever on slime duty, but I didn't think they were that great tbh
Honestly I'm fine with this collab. The gold saucer badly needed new games
The best way to do trash mobs would be to
>decrease the amount of enemies per pull
>give them at least deep dungeon tier mechanics
>and make the spawns slightly randomized
In deep dungeons the enemies are actually something to be respected, and they reward you for knowing how to handle them properly. They're engaging. So just have trash pulls like that instead of a mass of dummies that are only there so you can use your AoE skills.
I was thinking of how they could make dungeons more than AoE spam and realized you could do something where each party member has to take a mob and fight it alone
And then realized morons would never figure it out, no matter how many NPC text bubbles and giant tether markers you put on them
Just small shit could work though like the minibosses at the start of Qitana Ravel, where the frick did the guy who decided to do that go?
And then realized you'd have to make the dungeons trust accessible which even further limits it to AoE dodging
You would have to do it like DRS where the mobs are part of a setpiece. Like the tank might have to position a certain mob to do a cross or line cleave to hit another mob or a part of the setpiece, kind of like the stones in Qarn but more intricate, healers would have to be careful not to generate aggro with heals when certain mobs are nearby, you might have to stop a certain mob from coming in using sleep, stun, bind or heavy while you try to burst down another mob before you run out of CC etc.
It doesn't matter, the point was that FFXIV is perfectly capable of doing more than just trash doing aoes to dodge and patrols.
I'm not sure how good of an idea it is, but the easiest way to do it would just have them tethered to each player by role and get a buff where they receive less damage from those they aren't tethered to.
too simplistic
Pretty appropriate for dungeon content that the most casual people will be going through.
why are girls so good at fall guys?
>MH world had got Dragoon armour and one of the most unique fights in the game
>FF got fricking Rathalos and shit armour
>For the Nier Collab they didn't let Yoko do anything cool with the story and put a lot of restrictions on him so he couldn't do anything fun or cool. Not to mention they didn't even add any Nier weapons.
>Fall fricking guys of all games, FoTM that got forgotten one month after release. And it's jankiest shit possible.
Honestly at this point I'm not sure if SE even cares about collabs. Even if they add a DMC Collab it would be bare bones.
>next collab after FF11
>some shit like Star Ocean in case Second Story R does really well
>just get some character cosplays and random nonsense story that has the characters passing by Eorzea because space
Honestly I'd be glad if collabs don't really happen much anymore. You've got shit like KFC, Nier, Monster Hunter, Fall Guys, there's no cohesion. Something like PSO2 did this kind of shit but at least the vast majority was just cosmetic shit even if fricking Evangelion got tossed in with a plot event and special battle, or they got an outright Odin fight from FF14, and that game's continuity and story didn't try to take itself anywhere near as seriously as 14's lore does.
I want to play this but I really don't want to resub just for this shit. Hopefully there's a free play period before it expires
The gathering jobs are probably the worst part of the pterodactyl grind. Im only 1/3 of the way and it feels like its been an eternity.
oh boy, new variant. I can't wait to do the same dungeon 12 times, 4 times each one of the 3 routes...

You have to be 18 to post here, unlike your groomer circlejerks.
sorry I didn't know you were a pedophile
>18 is pedo
Americans are waking up, it seems.
t. pedophile
I'm him. Sorry, I'll do better.
I'm him. Sorry, I'll do better.
It has lower engagement than panda savage but there are definitely people doing it. If you put a PF up you can get people fairly fast. But you'll see fewer PFs at any moment because a lot of people have 3 friends they can take in, and even with a smaller base it's easier to fill 3 slots in PF than 7.
oh no it's the dragon ballers
Am I the only one here who truly sees how shit Endwalker is? Is the playerbase so desperate for XIV content they'll gladly slurp up garbage on a plate?
No but the cultists start wailing if you try to talk about it.
yes, you are the only one. truly unique take. can you make a youtube video about ffxiv's decline/downfall so others can share your wisdom? i'm sure e-celebs will react to it too
>t.seething cultist
I'm that anon. I just want to say that you've helped me realize that my intense loyalty to a corporate brand and religious levels of hostility when I feel the game is being insulted is not a healthy way to live. I'll do better, I'll be better. It's just a game, and it's okay for people to disagree with me or dislike the direction it's heading in. I'll keep reminding myself of that. Thanks.
No, just unsub
I did after playing the game almost nonstop since 2.0 and don't regret it
I just come into threads every now and again to shitpost and wistfully imagine fun ideas for the game that they'll never implement
EW is pretty shit things, but I got into pvp and genuinely enjoy it. Gonna finally do criterions and their savage versions this month and then probably unsub a few months before DT. If DT is also bad, or worse, I'll just do the SB MSQ ult and bounce, leaving on the final goodbye to the expansion I started.
I just qualify round one and afk round 2, not bothering with the dog shit netcode and competing with trannies that have been doing this nonstop since it was added
Only need 200 more points today and I'm free
