>pop in for a quick Blunderville while doing my cactpot >queue up >see losers popping in and out of the lobby constantly trying to force a solo instance
>Talking about how the other expansions were worse >completely misses the point that the game has always been a dogshit mmorpgs from the very beginning and that's what's actually draining player retention
huh
There are so many morons who only read headlines and get themselves bent out of shape then make threads about them feeling so angry while not reading any of the information the article was actually about.
As you say that guy you're replying to is a typical example.
The story/setting was in a better state post HW.
Mechanically, the game was on an upswing post HW. As in: there are significant missteps, but they seemed to actually recognise them as missteps and be working to solve them. In EW, the design patterns people dislike are features.
The player-base was also much more homogenous. They wanted more similar things. HW was one game with a very hard mode, EW is like 3 different things for 25 different target audiences because NUMBER MUST GO UP. Each of these 3 things have very little cross-over in terms of if people not in the TA actually want to play it. XIV is suffering from success in that sense.
EW is fine, they just skimped out on giving casual players ANY PvE content and just made combat content for the savage crowd. So yeah please at max 20% of the playerbase while forcing the rest to idle in Limsa. Not what I would have done but I am not an MMO dev, so what do I know.
Really good video, clearly explained with lots of nuance. Xeno's response was good too. But Ganker will as usual jump in with reductive braindead takes
https://youtu.be/xcNqcflB_XU?si=gZhDCKNqequixBcj
theyre in full on damage control at this point
>EW is fine because HW was much worse
what a shit take
EW is bad if you're deeply into relic grinding or loved bozja, but otherwise it's a good expansion. We've had plenty of good raiding content and good casual content too.
his job guides are genuinely great, even if his voice is grating as frick. Funny how now that Xeno reacted to his video he deleted his depressed/suicidal "Hiatus" video and all comments regarding it on youtube and X
he admitted in xeno's video that he was hoping that by making that video that someone with more clout would come along and give him a boost to his failing youtube channel lol
I mean it worked, Xeno did watch and react to it and the video popped off. I don't even blame these guys for clout chasing now, they're all doing it. It's what you need to do apparently to be relevant, it's a lot harder if you're a guy because you can't just show some tit and bring in the simp crowd.
>expect wacky shenanigans when Godbert shows up in a MSQ >drops redpills instead
absolutely based.
I love it when side content shows up in the main stuff.
From an Ul'dah perspective, he's correct. From our perspective as an adventurer that basically saves the world repeatedly for the sake of it, I fricking hate that Ul'dah presenting all of its problems as "don't ever help someone unless you can profit from it too" is treated as an absolute certainty.
That isn't what is being said at all.
It's about the sustainability of the help that is being offered. Plus the notion of the help being offered must be enough to remove them from poverty - treat the root of the pain rather than give them free painkillers.
He touches on the optics of essentially letting the refugees 'jump the line' in terms of getting help before Ul'dah's own impoverished (of which there are many).
The solution to this was to essentially sell them to a corporation but Ul'dah is a hellhole, but the philosophy behind the move is ethically sound and empathetic.
That's what the "from an Ul'dah perspective" part means. Yes, in terms of sheer economics and logic, hand-outs are a terrible idea and it wouldn't really fix anything at all. It just feels kinda fricked that our character can't even really disagree or say anything, or even seem to have an opinion on it, there isn't really room for considerations or debate: Lororito is pragmatic and a dick about it but is always right, Godbert doesn't usually do it but is always right, and they make sound reasonings and rationale, but then the Monetarists just kinda get off with absolutely no consequences despite virtually everyone hating them.
It feels like a really fricking weird way to approach the entirety of that matter and the fact that HW has them b***h at you and then forgot they even were involved with all that mess because Teledji was the real evil one just feels fricked. Nothing ever happens. The Monetarists are all bastards but Godbert but they're indispensable and everyone just moves on.
>I plan to pay their passage home so they can finally frick off, and then build them a school so in the future they'll actually be able to get into trained jobs. >Don't do that though you'll make them dependent and also it won't benefit your own people.
???
Training them to work at anything more specialized than gathering salt is by definition making them more independent (sure as frick more than just giving their resources to Lolorito and making them completely dependent for untrained jobs on a foreign company). And sending the refugees back is on it's own already helping the population, all those fricking refugee problems they've been b***hing about since the start of the game will instantly disappear. And if it's the rich merchants who still want to ask what's in it for them, just tell them that there will be a whole generation of trained employees that will be grateful to Ul'dah, just like with Rowena in Sharlayan.
The way it was concluded, literally the only winner was Lolorito. Everyone else in both countries would have benefitted more if Nanamo would have actually done what she planned.
This is literally one of the worst written plot points in the game made by someone with an astoundingly bad understanding of both politics and economics. Who also delivered it by hijacking the funny wholesome meme man to deliver his barely argumented political ideas, which apparently consist of sucking up to the richest baron around.
It wasn't though, she says it right away, passage home and a school. Aka. actually fricking useful things that she invests into specific things, not just sending them money and hoping nobody pockets it and runs with it.
Yes, the same as Europe >here's social benefits and programs that exclusively refugees can make use of

>bro, their school is already going to be worse than the ones I would already have the life circumstances to have realistic access to, why do you care?
Considering the whole "lets train the Ala Mhigans and Calamity refugees to work jobs so we can solve the crisis AND profit" stuff immediately surrounds a whole mess of Teledji and Lolorito inciting race/refugee riots, frankly both sides are fricking moronic and Ul'dah are all money-focused frickheads even up to Nanamo herself once she "agrees". No one even considers the angle that maybe the Ala Mhigans might be pissed as hell with them, and the refugees all just magically go with it off-screen after having been exploited for years on end already. It's genuinely baffling.
I fricking hated Uldah when I played XIV, after a certain point I got sick of literally every plotline there revolving around having to tard wrangle its dysfunctional government and moronic populace. I was completely disenchanted with the location in the end. Gridania a shit too but at least it's a functional shit. The only good capital is Limsa Balls.
To be fair, even residents of Gridania admit that they are basically just trying to appease the Elementals and not piss them off. There's only a small handful of individuals that can "speak" to them, and they can very well kill you from thin air for simply pissing in the wrong bush without you knowing it.
a bunch of them too are very very aware that the elementals' demands are completely arbitrary way more often than they have any actual reasons
Is there anything more cucked than the life of a Gridanian? >be gridanian >step on a mushroom >die >meanwhile there's hordes of adventurers swarming the entire forest trampling everything and the elementals barely give a frick
Elementals haven't been able to do shit since Dalamud fell, Gridanians are following their rules and whims currently out of respect and fear for their old behavior than out of any actual fear of the consequences. It's why Ixal don't just get banished from existence if they take too much lumber in ARR.
Funny enough elementals were lv. 90 or higher creatures when they showed up in 1.0 so now in Endwalker you could absolutely whoop their ass if it ever came to it.
Just finished the Aloloa Region Variant Dungeon blind finding all the endings on my own, figuring out the hints for everything. Ending 6 was wienerblocking me for so long because I didn't notice the hidden paths behind the red flowers to scare away the echevores.
Then the proper order for the secret area for ending 12 when I finally noticed the Sparrow, Whale, and Turtle statues in the first area in the right path on the way to the first boss. Kino hint
Doing Variant blind and taking the long time to figure it out is very satisfying instead of just trying to speedrun all the endings with the answers in front of you. The rituals needed from Endings 3, 7, and 10 were cool.
Ok, off to Blunderville.
Man I still have yet to max WAR, but got the other three tanks to 90, and I just can't really "like" PLD. It's either DRK or GNB for me, because while I can occasionally do a nice run save with PLD otherwise I'm just playing an underwhelming tank that feels like it gets very little to do overall.
the change into a DUMP EVERYTHING tank with the 6.3 rework ameliorated that for me imo but it's true paladin feels pretty underwhelming to look at and watch, compared to the other tanks, all the way up until you get the confiteor combo
Nobody likes an attention prostitute and the mods don't seem to give a shit about enforcing the rule they're blatantly violating so it's only natural those anons are irritated. I am aware that it is best to ignore them and that I am indirectly giving them what they want by replying to your post.
Attention whoring is annoying. Avatargayging has the same result as creating an account on reddit. It's removing anonymity for the purpose of attention whoring on a website where the selling point and culture is remaining anonymous.
If you want to avatar gay you quite literally should go make an account on reddit.
Its not hard to figure out why.
Though honestly you shouldn't even give them the (you)s they're so desperate for that they crawl out of /vg/ to try and get here.
>before Fall Guys >they wouldn't add achievements and rewards to get first place, right? Maybe one for getting it once, but not more, right...? >CBU3 as usual takes the worst option for something that shouldn't be a autistic grind
And here we are, with cheaters and bullshit lag. They should have upped the currency you need to buy the rewards, if they were afraid of the event dying too fast.
Now it's dying because most people refuse to challenge poopsock cheaters any more than they have to.
The triple triad tournament system was released in 2.5 and was cheated to hell within a few weeks, it never recovered so what you described is really standard fair.
To this day I still see a notorious "hardcore" autist on my server *coughCerberusCoughDrMomochi* at first place in every goddamn TT tournament.
At least that one doesn't have a unique title. I know it's not even that much of a challenge in the end, but it certainly is suspicious.
What was so aggravating is that win traders placed first, second and third in every.single.tournament. For years! On every server. At this point why still do it? These lunatics.
The system never had a had a chance to even come online within the community. It released and then it couldn't be played.
My point was this behavior is perfectly normal in the game, it's not surprising.
i win traded to just collect the cards. I'm sorry to the people who are doing it legit but I do not find tournaments fun and just wanted it out of the way. I did this years ago mind you
>First time playing FFXIV >God those twins are boring >2023 >God I want to pin Alisaie to the wall and **** her **** balls deep
This game changes people
>God I want to pin Alisaie to the wall and **** her **** balls deep
I don't get it.
>whole expansion >WTF THERE'S NO AUTISTIC GRIND ENDWALKER IS DEAD >they add autistic grind >welp there goes CBU3 making another autistic grind
Crossover events are supposed to be super casual, not poopsock. Meanwhile Relic needed a grind for at least the first weapon each upgrade, since actually working for it is in the spirit of that content.
This my exact reaction especially to Alisaie. I am so glad they changed their voices from ARR into Heavensward, Alphinaud I got used to his voice and wasn't so bothered but the Alisaie ARR was far too anime for me, there is no fricking way that voice could have the same effect on me through Stormblood and Shadowbringers.
>make the two best grind contents in the game “eureka and bozja” >decide to replace it this time with boring mini dungeons with nothing at the end
Why are the subs down after endwalker guys?
I dropped this game so hard and my life has spiraled out of control because it used to give a structure to my schedule. I am
so sad when i look at it but i don't want to play it again.
I'd like you to stop writing a bunch of bullshit about it if you don't know what you're talking about.
Well at first the hate for lalafells was tongue in cheek and not truly serious, lalafells evil, but from what i understand since the wow crowd came in the attitude has become much more aggressive is it true?
Since they're used to shitting on gnomes hardcore?
If that's the case then it would drive lalaplayers to extremism one by one indeed, making them hunker down within safe enclaves. Seems there is a lot of bad feelings all around, doesn't look much like jokes.
My FC chief is a lala and we love bullying him, idk why most people have to take everything seriously. Have some fun for once. Not everything is srs bznz.
>but from what i understand since the wow crowd came in the attitude has become much more aggressive is it true?
It's because
1. Yes, Gnomes and other races are not considered "hardcore badass fantasy". It's also why in XIV catgirls got even more shit on after the exodus.
2. They don't know preexisting injokes, which is why they think the lala bashing was 100% serious. They also try to push their own jokes and terms. Nobody called WoL Meteor Survivor in the west until WoWgays. Meteor was very fringe and more of a ironic name than even Derplander, which hasn't been used since the exodus thanks to WoW players.
3. The "it looks totally like a kid so it's pedo" attitude seems to be very universal with WoWies. Look at people like KiraTV or Josh Strife Hayes, who call anything pedo or questionable that looks young and anime.
You couldn't be a tactician. The lala players were pressured into reactionary activity, the more they are bashed the more they'll act up since being made fun of is the root cause of their actions. Such comments in game or in the threads directly creates what you complain about. The purpose of pressuring a group is to squeeze them through an advantageous opening and pressing a group without creating a path of release makes it blow up in your face like strangling a water balloon.
Sure, lalas were hated before WoWgays, but the majority was ironic about it. It increased in seriousness after the exodus.
So it really did? shit.
Anon, my hate for lalafells comes from in-game experience. After experiencing Ul'dah and those little shits running the place and especially that blue coated turncoat jobber I have developed a justified hatred towards potatoes. The only lalafells I truly respect are Pipin, Papalymo, Tataru and the First's Dwarves.
That stuff is fun and all when we're between us but our "good company" doesn't even begin to grasp the simple thread you're pulling at.

NTA but Nanamo is probably the worst. Not only is she probably the single most incompetent and easy to manipulate leader in the whole game, but she also ended up buying into the "For coin and country (and honestly the country has a price tag too)" philosophy.

>No you don't get it lala hate is only a recent thing and it's only because of WoWgays, absolutely nobody else could dislike our spamming asses, it's clearly the WoWgays that invaded us for the sole purpose of bullying us.
Right then.
Every single wowfugees I've had the misfortune of raiding with since 2014 as been a lala and nothing you can say will ever change my mind you revisionist little shit.
What the hell did i revision? People started saying lala players were evil because NPC lalas were often evil in the story but that's silly to think, so it was more of a joke. I'm only posting this because i saw the grins fade from everyone's figurative faces and i don't like where this is going. These homies just want to be cute. It's why they picked the cute race.
I used to like them but western players have to be the most moronic bunch of people who pick a meme race like lala and start being insanely obnoxious and try to piss people off. You can't deny at least half of the players are just people who are haha small race comedy kek and try really hard to be funny. Then there's also the attention seeking freaks that always post in these threads with the same smug lala faces like they are starved for attention. Japanese lala players are based but I always assume every western lala player is mostly a fricking annoying memer or attention prostitute.
NPC lalafell are fine. Player lalafell are always so weirdly tribal and extremely annoying. People sexualizing them are weird af. I can see people liking big tiddy goblins and gnomes have at least hips, lalafell literally have toddler bodies.
I can't, because the best parts of being a black mage need to be experienced. When you get greedy and hit a fire phase refresh with 3 seconds left and get the cast off, you feel like a god. When you place your ley lines perfectly and dodge three mechanics without having to leave them, you feel like a god. When you hit three Fire IV direct hit crits in a row, you feel like a god. That's 558 potency multiplied by your DH and crit multiplier, by the way.
It's an experience. Go join the thaumaturge's guild today.
>Shill me on black mage
last job in the game that requires actual skill and knowledge of the fight to optimize uptime and DPS. The skill gap between good BLMs and great BLMs is as wide as the sea, and incredibly easy to notice. Plus Fire IV is easily the most aesthetically pleasing spell to cast in the game, and it's not close. also will always be top-tier because it's Yoshi-P's main job
>Shit'dah, the town that ran you out after they blamed you for killing the brat princess

>Just one expansion later the sultana shows up and offers you complete monopoly of the natural resources of a whole separate and independent country that she has no authority over, taking advantage of a moment of turmoil and lack of leadership and administration, for free.
Don't worry though, someone said he's a big fan of the Scions, so it's all ok.
A question to the mod beasts in here; if all this cheating shit results with them adding an anti cheat method to the game and forever dab on your big futa wiener mods would you still play this game or unsub?
depends on how much QoL they add to compensate since they've been slowly doing it already. i'm toning down and stripping out most of my graphical mods because i realize the update for DT will totally gut and reset dev progress on all of them so I need to adapt to anything not an upscale, but this game's UI is a real pain in the ass sometimes and button bloat is a real problem for controllers.
>do 1 billion fetch quests >outside world is all lifeless and boring >not even need to grind for anything, story gives me all the gear anyway
this is so boring
NOOO BUT THE HECKIN STORYRINO IS SO KINO NOOOOOO PLEASE ENJOY A MILLION CUTSCENES AND FILLER QUESTS PLEASE THE STORY IS SO GOOD
i don't blame anyone for skipping cutscenes and i specially encourage it for newer players if their goal is to do endgame content
At the end of Shadowbringers until now the following things happened: >no-life hardcore sentiments increased >modding increased >cheating increased >venues and shouts increased >personal advertising increased (i.e. Thepopotoartist, any FC with a Discord, etc.) >hate for Lalafell and other races increased
by a lot. I wonder what caused this. >wowgay youtubers entered XIV, made videos about it, promoting all of these things and made XIVtubers act like them
No, that can't be. Must have been the weather.
Technically the immigration crisis started as early as mid-heavensward but reached critical mass during stormblood. It's when all these news of ffxiv really making it went around, 20 million accounts or whatever, and the memes of "don't pay my sub" spread and the transsexual talk took over Ganker, /xivg/ was too radioactive and we fled to Ganker and kept getting our threads into trouble, happened during those SB times.
At that time the big youtubers weren't on board yet so you're right, that giant nail came down when you said and frick they're baiting views, they don't know what they're talking about: on purpose.
Bros.... even /ourguy/ is leaving now...? What the frick is happening..?? We are being cucked by the WoWBulls again... >more stream views now >more video views >everyone in the comments is positive >he looks better than ever

This man has no spine, no integrity and no sense of pride. Shun him.
No one likes him in the FFXIV content creator scene, he went to the NA fanfest and they all ignored him. He has meltdowns every couple of months burning bridges this is why he's had to go back to WoW, he burned everything he had with FFXIV.
Yea I didn’t find out until later he was just some very mentally unstable wow dude who follows lore but FFXIV doesn’t need that because all that stuff is in game already
Exactly, the story is all told in FFXIV in the game and it's very straight forward to understand. In WoW a lot of the lore is told in books which is how a guy like him could make videos as WoW players were wanting to know the lore more but too lazy to read a book.
The last bridges he burned with FFXIV both the creator scene and what audience he had left was the moronic Lalafell chair meltdown he had.
>WoW players going back to their game right now >Dawntrail PF about to be 50 times better
I'm excited lads. That super drop in player skill after the exodus will finally be gone. Soon it'll only take 1 hour to find good players for farms instead of fricking 4 hours.
>we'll no longer have people going o/ at the start of a dungeon and gg after it's done >we'll no longer have 3 pulls and out during a prog party in pf
we're so back
Much of EW core problems story-wise can be tied to Elpis.
Why they decided to go with time travel when we have an ability literally for perceiving events we weren't there for is beyond me. Elidibus could have just supercharged our echo real hard while we chewed on the Azem crystal or something. Then write the Elpis events around (You) as Azem being there instead of (You) directly. This gets rid of a swathe of contrivances and workarounds.

I wonder how many anons partake in raiding, not even talking about week 1 clears but just casual pf progging or in static. Either number is low or people just parrot "there's no midcore content" (I agree there isn't) but how can you justify sub fee if you don't do savage? Do you live off the 7 extremes, 3 alliance raids and multiple corridor dungeons each expansion? >inb4 fishing, triple triad, socializing
I mean, people are already using cheat sheets for the mountain level on top of speed hacks and the splatoon. People minmaxed the shit out of what is supposed to be casual content lmao fricking mmo players.
>Either number is low or people just parrot "there's no midcore content" (I agree there isn't) but how can you justify sub fee if you don't do savage?
I have a house. Also a waifu. Pic related. And friends who like to run dungeons and the 24 man raids.I enjoyed Savage back in SB but starting with ShB the fights became utter shit. More and more obtuse ways of "find the safe spot!" while relying more on body checks. It is shit combat design and they even managed to infest Eureka Orthos with that.

I think they'd rather save any "what was their life like before" parts mysterious and vague just in case they need to pull some shit ingame. They've milked the Leveilleur's family life (including even Urianger) hard, they could at any point pull from something like Y'shtola's family, G'raha's life in Corvos, Thancred's past as a street urchin, etc.

Based and Shtola pilled, should have shared the LLM tho.
I do blind prog 3-6h/week in a very casual group. Most of my playtime is spent on side content like Bozja and DD solo.
Raiding is hardly a factor for my sub
>but how can you justify sub fee if you don't do savage?
I stopped raiding because it killed my enjoyment of the game.
I started before 1.0 imploded and kept playing occasionally only to become a raider in HW.
My static still exists and I'm just benched but reprogs in fricking PFs what was killed it.
It got worse with each expansion as more and more people joined the game.
And now I just enjoy simple things like doing expert deliveries, tribes, maps, hunts side quests and shit like that.
Game has enough to justify the sub but I understand why people get mad at Squenix for not implementing more evergreen shit.
The whole midcore thing is stupid, it's not like there's a huge amount of hardcore content in the game either, unless you count progging fights for months as hardcore. And guess what, it's not, that's midcore.
>7 extremes
I don't even do those. If I can't just queue it up in DF and get it done, I'm not doing it. The only way I'd get any of the rewards from harder content when they're current is if SE adds a slow-grind way of doing it by running the normal versions. So instead, most of my time is spent catching fish, grinding long-term achievements, or going back to the savage/ex stuff I skipped now that I'm +150 iLvl and can clear it comfortably. There is simply nothing enjoyable to me about having to spend 9+ minutes engaged in perfect choreography with other people across a hectic procession of rape mechanics, to get a mere chance at something I might want. That shit should reward everyone involved in a token to get exactly what they wanted after each clear. The lesser tokens you need to trade a lot of, should have been coming from the normal fights.
They should really implement an AI voice for your WoL.
Imagine either something like you speak into a microphone and it copies your voice or for you opposite gender players just choose from a voice.
I think it would be a cool way of adding voicework without ruining immersion.
Although it will never happen due to all the bad pr using AI would give them
Unprofessional voice work sounds like shit.
Unprofessional voice work without high quality recording equipment sounds double shit.
Unprofessional voice work with shity mics that then has to be processed by an AI is gonna sound so ridiculously shit that I guarantee you the second you hear your WoL's awful voice sound over the other, actual well made and professional VAs, you're gonna want to puke and disown your WoL forever.
This. Also you'd need to have some very extensive AI training software where players need to record for potentially hours of lines. Even then the mic quality, accents and people hearing their own voice would most likely create a very unsatisfying result
Maybe but the voice acting for this game is already all over the place.
Sometimes it sounds great and others it sounds horrible.
There's already no real assurance of quality.
That one single moment during Castrum Fluminis where Yotsuyu still believed in Gosetsu's kindness had a bigger emotional impact than whatever the entirety of Endwalker.
>Have to do the Savage tier, then Savage Criterion
Yeah frick no am I doing this. The entire Criterion without a single death, get absolutely fricked am I doing that all for a glowy weapon.
It's ridiculous how much better these look than any Ultimate weapons. The effects are actually tied to the weapon designs and there's unique animations like the BRD bird singing and the GNB cartridge spinning
the cartridge is already spinning on the regular gnb weapon
the war weapon actually spins briefly when you unsheathe it. i have no idea why they didn't make it spin indefinitely
the rpr weapon has the WORST glow because the idiot who modelled the glow in somehow deleted the glowing sigil off the weapon so you're left with a castrated piece of metal that glows slightly
Preach is the only WoWfugee streamer I like but I get so tired hearing him b***h about no chat bubbles. Why the frick do we need more screen clutter? Imagine how awful that shit will be in Limsa. Can't wait for all the RMT bots and Nightclub homosexuals to take up my screen with giant bubbles.
the glams are tied to your gc unfortunately. adders has a headpiece that's a branch-like circlet with leaves that i use in a healer glam. maelstrom also has a really nice miniskirt with great thighhighs that go well with the fending diadochos jacket. flames has... the bawd caster top i guess but i couldn't make a decent glam out of that
>How long is the free trial?
unlimited >Should I bother with side quests?
not unless you want to, any quests without the + sign on it is filler >Whats the most brainlet magic class to use
SMN. It's 1-button casting 99% of the time
Unlimited hours, up to level 70 with some restrictions (no pvp, no marketboard, gil cap).
Do some sidequests with a blue icon, they unlock more content. Dodge the generic sidequests since they offer no reward and only rarely some interesting lore. You can come back for them later if you want.
Summoner (starts as Arcanist)
i wouldn't go through the story with smn if i were you, it's so incredibly boring and you will spend like 150 hours if not more spamming the same 1 - 2 buttons. other jobs get more job features as they level up but smn plays the same from level 15 to level 86
>How long is the free trial?
Base game + 2 first expansions. There's only 2 expansions after that, so more than half of the game is completely free. It is very generous if you can deal with no marketboard or player trading. >Should I bother with side quests?
There's 3 different types of quests. Main Story, which has the Flame logo around the quest marker, "blue quests", which have a blue background in the exclamation point logo, and side quests which just have a gold exclamation point.
Blue quests are definitely worth doing, since they unlock core gameplay features like bonus dungeons and systems like glamour(Transmog), hair dresser, class abilities etc.
There's some side quests that are also fun and worth doing, but they are the minority, I wouldn't worry about them at the start >Whats the most brainlet magic class to use
For DPS, SMN so you'd start as Arcanist. Red Mage is also easy, but you need to be level 50 to unlock it
For Healers, WHM so you'd start as Conjurer.
Personal preference, but I think being a caster and especially a healer in the main story is a little lame

Yeah. The jobs are not that hard, and the story gameplay is really easy, so it's better experienced as a melee dps so you actually have some buttons to press. In my mind, summoner exists to unsync nuke old content or if you're asked to fill a magic dps spot in high-end content and you want to do the fight without thinking about your rotation.
SMN is so easy that I can hop into any fight I haven't done on a caster and crush it without thinking, that shouldn't be a thing
Usually there are nuances or little tricks to doing a fight on a new role, but not with SMN
>Personal preference, but I think being a caster and especially a healer in the main story is a little lame
It works just fine 99% of the time, but there's like moment or two that are kind of silly if you're not the trailer derplander adventure man.
I'm suprised XIV doesn't have any spells that do damage while casting, Like the drain life spells in WoW. would be cool to Ahk morn be something you have to channel during the bahamut phase and it just nukes enemies multiple times similar to how bosses use it.
Oooh yeah I forgot about that one. Frick man I wish it was good.

No it isn't. Flamethrower is dogshit. Its 200 potency more than 4 basic aoes, but you don't generate any gauge. There's no world where 200 potency is worth 40 heat. Literally the only use case is if you're on the last pull before a boss in a dungeon, none of your ogcds are up, and you already have 100 heat. Only then should you ever use it and even then its not even a noticeable dps increase.
Anonymous
>ability is called flamethrower >doesn't interact with the heat gauge
why didn't they just keep the gauss barrel effect from 4.0? it doesn't even interact with wildfire.
Anonymous
because there was zero reason to ever take the gauss barrel off and it added an ugly r-type addon to all guns

Flamethrower used to increase the heat gauge action when the gauss barrel was equipped, they could have just baked that effect into the action.

flamethrower is effectively vestigial and i imagine it'll get dropped next expac tbh

Its a cool animation and MCH barely has any buttons anyway. Just make it an ogcd that shares a cd with air anchor. Like bio blaster is to drill.
Anonymous
I'd be fine with that if they replaced the 70 capstone with bishop autoturret or something. MCH sorely needs an AoE battery gauge spender.

They hate the idea of MCH having decent aoe. Fricking auto-crossbow not reducing the cd on at least ricochet is moronic too.
I'd put a shiny penny on spaghetti code and tech dept making that hard.
Remember: the reason why XIV doesn't have any real 'DoT job' anymore is because of tech limitations. >b-b-bard
This is not a dot job.
I did get reminded of flamethrower, which does work exactly how I was thinking. I forgot about it cause it's not even a hotkey on my bars as a machinist. I just use it for fun cause the visual affect is great.
The problem is that the fights are heavily movement based in XIV, I guess if it doesn't slow you down it might be interesting but idk
It's a controller MMO too so if you mean moving while doing it...might be jank
Maybe it could work how the bard and machinist range attacks work in PVP. you can move still but movement is slowed. So it's something you have to think about but is really powerful if you get the full thing off.

I could maybe see it
Let swiftcast work on it and it would probably be fine

If the channel time is reasonable, like a few seconds and not 10s, and if you can use it whenever during Bahamut phase, there'd very rarely be a mechanic that would completely frick it up. And even if there were then maybe it'd lead to you having to think if you have to delay Bahamut for a GCD or two, but oh no thinking we can't have that.

the GNB rotation is so fricking tight that if you don't have 100% uptime you're absolutely fricked for your 2-minute windows unless you intentionally drop GCDs to maintain alignment

If they ever did bring back a dot class couldn't they fix the whole 2 minute burst window thing with dots by having a CD that refreshes all current dots at the full buff potency that you're at? Or am I not understanding the problem with dots and the 2 minute meta?
Anonymous
You mean something like this?
yea, but if you're a pure DoT mage and your one super powerful capstone is a basic b***h DoT refresh, kinda seems underwhelming
6 months ago
Anonymous
Basically, but I'd put it on a CD so you couldn't just constantly refresh your dots with 1 button. My dream dot class would have at least 4 going on at all times and keeping them up and them having different interactions with the rest of your kit would be where the fun comes from. The CD would just be there to keep it in line with the rest of the jobs because I'm guessing it would be hard for it to keep up with proper burst jobs. I'm no game designer though so the idea could be complete shit.
Anonymous
I could see them having a 120 second ability that applies all 4 DoTs at once, and if you already had the dots applied the timers all get refreshed AND you get a potency up on them, to reward you for maintaining them.
The problem then would be how do you ramp back up after a forced downtime scenario?
Anonymous
There was this spell from the other game that allowed you to suck up your dots with their current timers unto yourself and then recast them all on another target. Could be repurposed so that when you know that down time is coming from a boss or even if you just want to switch targets you suck up your dots unto yourself and then recast them onto whomever you need to.

>Ahk morn be something you have to channel during the bahamut phase
That'd actually be cool, but yeah maybe there's a reason why they don't really use that in the game. Maybe the ticks would be funky and you'd sometimes lose one? That'd drive parse autists mad.
the problem is that XIV is designed around the 2-minute burst window, and DoT/Sustain jobs don't align well with that. That's the reason they changed PLD around a couple patches ago
If they ever did bring back a dot class couldn't they fix the whole 2 minute burst window thing with dots by having a CD that refreshes all current dots at the full buff potency that you're at? Or am I not understanding the problem with dots and the 2 minute meta?
>couldn't they fix the whole 2 minute burst window thing with dots by having a CD that refreshes all current dots at the full buff potency that you're at?
having a literal 1-button burst meta that you press once every 2 minutes doesn't sound very fun to play

I didn't even mention SAM's Higanban which has been around since SB and is a gigantic source of their DPS that gets refreshed in and outside of the burst windows
so community is bashing heavenward then? i wasn't around back then to talk about jobs/content but nanamo assassination plot was the biggest disappointment of the expansion
moreso the "umm i've played since heavensward which was the best expansion ever and" angle is becoming undesirable to prove you're an epic oldgay on Ganker
>so community is bashing heavenward then?
they're just doing it for rage clicks and clout. Everyone knows SB was the "worst" expansion worst in quotes because they're all at least good to great
any anons that played SB when it was current? why is it considered the "worst"? i can understand if you weren't a raider or a casual but SB had >eureka >hoh >omega raids (which are really good) >no idea about job balance >two ultimates
Ruined what? There was nothing to ruin, ablooo bloo you lost cleric stance and gained an useless gauge, thin air and benis were better than anything whm lost
SB was top shelf at end-of-expac but pretty crap before that >Eureka Pagos was sabotaged away from being endless FATE trains because Yoshida really wanted it to be XI and the game is just too fricking fast for endless chain-grinds, this nearly killed Eureka >Monk was schizophrenic (as usual...) and there was no reason to ever use anything but fire stance, same as there was no reason to ever use anything but wind stance after building GL4 in Shadowbringers, this isn't even getting into the autism surrounding The Tornado Kick Rotation >Also Monk was still the only job that used Blunt Resistance Down lol, other blunts are healer autoattacks >WAR was an invincible demigod and the only tank who felt it when they changed between tank or DPS stances, DRK *pshwow* spammed *pshwow* Dark Arts and PLD was kinda there and their gauge generation was fricking awful if they weren't in DPS stance >Job balance was still pretty bad with a largely accepted speedrunner's meta of WAR, PLD, AST, SCH, DRG, NIN, SMN, BRD. A lot of raider butthurt when a DRK was in the world's-first ultimate party and he picked it just because greatsword go brrrrr >White Mage was an absolute embarrassment for the developers with a job gauge that was outright nonfunctional, Plenary Indulgence's timer ran out before you could even use it, and between the nonworking abilities, still massive amounts of healing, and newfound ability to spam Holy they were considered dungeon kings of safety and not much else >HoH kinda went by like a fart in the wind, but people still ran it more than Orthos >Omega raids had people moan that it was Dissidia NT asset reuse (for Exdeath and Kefka) and lazy memberberries (sure why not) but they were good on the whole >Ultimates arrived to the cheers of basically nobody except poopsockers and streamers that wanted shit to broadcast for some kind of world-first race that wasn't Savage clears, I cheered because it prompted normal Dreadwyrm weapons to be made for SAM and RDM

they missed their chance to contrast alphinaud with his sister as a blue mage to a red mage
missed their chance too with the zorn & thorn reference in eulmore for that matter
Frick that, Ala Mhigo to me was always a more boring Ul'dah. I was so glad we got to travel to Hingashi and Othard in SB, the game needed those different zones and aesthetics. We'd spent the base game and one expansion in Eorzea, we needed a change.
Ala Mhigo I think could've been a really cool area but the surrounding zones of Gyr Abania were always going to be boring, it's been a lore point for Ala Mhigo for a very long time that THERE IS NOTHING THERE IN THAT GODFORSAKEN DESERT, THEY ARE WHOLLY RELIANT ON TRADE AND CONQUEST
Also frick off janitor nobody is going to apologize to you that you failed to notice a thread didn't die over the course of a full day
Drift shouldn't be a feature because it's not very fun. Beyond some method of drift recovery that would go a long way: >Spreading windows out again would deemphasise how punishing missing your window is >designing fights around the concept of shorter dps checks, rather than always relying the entire fight being a sustained dps check. This would make bursting a tactical question of when, rather than simply a punishment for not playing the piano right
>designing fights around the concept of shorter dps checks, rather than always relying the entire fight being a sustained dps check. This would make bursting a tactical question of when, rather than simply a punishment for not playing the piano right
That's kinda how TOP ended up working, and the groups that blindly used their 2 mins on CD were b***hing about some of the DPS checks being impossible.
If only he actually played EW so he had a valid opinion to give and it wasn't just him regurgitating official forums shitposts as a veneer for the actual reason for his video: to jump on the doompost bandwagon because he's still sore that his friend group fell apart in Shadowbringers for reasons unrelated to anything with Endwalker.

im gonna do the same thing i did with ffxvi, watch a youtube video compilation of all the msq cutscenes instead of wasting $60 to watch them
That video is right. 🙂
Isn't this the dude that had a massive meltdown because he thinks playing a Harry Potter game is equivalent to troony genocide?
>EW is fine because HW was much worse
what a shit take
You evidently didn't watch the video. You're no better than redditors that react to news articles without knowing what they are talking about
There are so many morons who only read headlines and get themselves bent out of shape then make threads about them feeling so angry while not reading any of the information the article was actually about.
EW is bad if you're deeply into relic grinding or loved bozja, but otherwise it's a good expansion. We've had plenty of good raiding content and good casual content too.
You're expecting doomtroons to make sense.
doomers aren't looking for honest or genuine conversation, they're cultists that want the game dead
wesk is based
his job guides are genuinely great, even if his voice is grating as frick. Funny how now that Xeno reacted to his video he deleted his depressed/suicidal "Hiatus" video and all comments regarding it on youtube and X
he admitted in xeno's video that he was hoping that by making that video that someone with more clout would come along and give him a boost to his failing youtube channel lol
glad he got his wish, maybe now he won't kill himself and hold out until Dawntrail
I mean it worked, Xeno did watch and react to it and the video popped off. I don't even blame these guys for clout chasing now, they're all doing it. It's what you need to do apparently to be relevant, it's a lot harder if you're a guy because you can't just show some tit and bring in the simp crowd.

I love it when side content shows up in the main stuff.
Voiced Godbert when?
Never.
Her plan was the same as Europe's; give them money and resources and hope it works out.
It wasn't though, she says it right away, passage home and a school. Aka. actually fricking useful things that she invests into specific things, not just sending them money and hoping nobody pockets it and runs with it.
Yes, the same as Europe
>here's social benefits and programs that exclusively refugees can make use of
What, you're gonna move to a third world country just to go to a school that's probably worse than the one you already have right here?
What a delightful out of touch, upper-middle class way to view that issue.
What a delightful way to not say anything at all.
>bro, their school is already going to be worse than the ones I would already have the life circumstances to have realistic access to, why do you care?
He was right and anyone who thinks otherwise is a mongrel who can't think for himself.
I fricking hated Uldah when I played XIV, after a certain point I got sick of literally every plotline there revolving around having to tard wrangle its dysfunctional government and moronic populace. I was completely disenchanted with the location in the end. Gridania a shit too but at least it's a functional shit. The only good capital is Limsa Balls.
>gridania
>the land where everyone lives in fear of being smote by the elementals
if you aren't doing anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about
To be fair, even residents of Gridania admit that they are basically just trying to appease the Elementals and not piss them off. There's only a small handful of individuals that can "speak" to them, and they can very well kill you from thin air for simply pissing in the wrong bush without you knowing it.
a bunch of them too are very very aware that the elementals' demands are completely arbitrary way more often than they have any actual reasons
Is there anything more cucked than the life of a Gridanian?
>be gridanian
>step on a mushroom
>die
>meanwhile there's hordes of adventurers swarming the entire forest trampling everything and the elementals barely give a frick
Eh, at least it's a functional shit

Built for Magnai
You keep saying she's your wife but I see no babies anon, why's that?
1.0 version was so much better
I am going to preorder Dawntrail for early-access just like I did for Shadowbringers and Endwalker and there will be no stopping me.
you’re so brave
Cute

got any good trading cards, Ganker?
Thanalan is still the best zone in the game
La Noscea is the #1 best region.
It was better in 1.0 where you could just walk the whole region and the layout made sense.

Damn I love gridania.

Why do people get so angry at avatargays? If you stopped tilting you'd enable them less.
Nobody likes an attention prostitute and the mods don't seem to give a shit about enforcing the rule they're blatantly violating so it's only natural those anons are irritated. I am aware that it is best to ignore them and that I am indirectly giving them what they want by replying to your post.
Literally no one in this thread was getting angry at anyone.
Though honestly you shouldn't even give them the (you)s they're so desperate for that they crawl out of /vg/ to try and get here.
excuse me that's my wife
I'm tired of people shitting on the goblet and ul'dah
This is the best ffxiv city
this is the best ffxiv housing district
Sultana Dreaming is the best city night theme.
Ul'dah was the best city in 1.0 simply because that song played at night.
>simply because that song played at night.
Poser. 1.0 had no day/night music variations, it was the one tune the whole time.
Nobuo knew how to make atmospheric music
>before Fall Guys
>they wouldn't add achievements and rewards to get first place, right?
I did this years ago mind you
Also large number of people are just afk farming the first stage.
The title is pretty much meaningless now. Most people will see the title and just assume you cheated or exploited the solo lobbies.
Still a fun event, even with the lag and snapshotting.
>First time playing FFXIV
>God those twins are boring

>God I want to pin Alisaie to the wall and **** her **** balls deep
This game changes people
>God I want to pin Alisaie to the wall and **** her **** balls deep
I don't get it.
Crossover events are supposed to be super casual, not poopsock. Meanwhile Relic needed a grind for at least the first weapon each upgrade, since actually working for it is in the spirit of that content.
sorry but it's your loss, peasant bean
anon I want to **** her so deep that the scions would need learn sundering magic to split us apart
That's a normal reaction. I thought they were both annoying little shits at first and now I love them both and also want to wife Alisaie.
This my exact reaction especially to Alisaie. I am so glad they changed their voices from ARR into Heavensward, Alphinaud I got used to his voice and wasn't so bothered but the Alisaie ARR was far too anime for me, there is no fricking way that voice could have the same effect on me through Stormblood and Shadowbringers.
>whole expansion
>WTF THERE'S NO AUTISTIC GRIND ENDWALKER IS DEAD
>they add autistic grind
>welp there goes CBU3 making another autistic grind
>make the two best grind contents in the game “eureka and bozja”
>decide to replace it this time with boring mini dungeons with nothing at the end
Why are the subs down after endwalker guys?
bozja grinding is shit
fall guys is better than that
Who the frick cares for achievements?
me
The one for Fall Guys has a title.
I legitimately do not care about fall guys stuff and think I’m not going to even do it
do you need these achievements
i'm sure people just want Queen/King Bean title, achievements per se are worth nothing to the 95% of players
It's a shit title for twittards, though.
Come on, do you really need a "Queen Bean"/"King Bean" title?
That's not even a cool title though. You only would use it to show off that you've done it, and people get it by being scummy so there's no point.
Look at people like KiraTV or Josh Strife Hayes, who call anything pedo or questionable that looks young and anime.
you would think lala bashing is a joke until you browse these threads. i have a visceral dislike towards them so much now
You couldn't be a tactician.
So it really did? shit.
That stuff is fun and all when we're between us but our "good company" doesn't even begin to grasp the simple thread you're pulling at.
Namano only good potato, the rest go in the oven.
Right then.
Sure, lalas were hated before WoWgays, but the majority was ironic about it. It increased in seriousness after the exodus.
Where is he now?
Every single wowfugees I've had the misfortune of raiding with since 2014 as been a lala and nothing you can say will ever change my mind you revisionist little shit.
What the hell did i revision? People started saying lala players were evil because NPC lalas were often evil in the story but that's silly to think, so it was more of a joke. I'm only posting this because i saw the grins fade from everyone's figurative faces and i don't like where this is going. These homies just want to be cute. It's why they picked the cute race.
People started saying lala players were evil because they started role playing too hard or were buttholes the whole time.
I don't see the issue

Hit or Miss
I guess I never Miss!
What race you play
Your favorite job.
Judge each other. For me it's Malezen black mage. It's canon, AND stylish.
Highlander
Paladin
fem miqote
Reaper
if i decide to play this again in dawntrail i might go black mage, what race and gender combo has the coolest casting animations?
Biased but elezen, the way they chuck spells is the perfect blend of fluid and weighty, the IV tier ones especially.
Xaela
Bard
Bows and Music, the perfect combo for a mongol larp
Male hyur midlander black mage, because why would I play anything else?
Shill me on black mage
Don't bother trying kiddo.

Female Au Ra Astrologian, its canon they have a pouty face
you cant get hair like that in game doe

Don't worry though, someone said he's a big fan of the Scions, so it's all ok.
Lalafell are the embodiment of innocence, it's the duty of all adventurers to look after them and aid them.

Would Endwalker WoL beat Dalamud Bahamut?
don't question the powerlevels in the msq because they make zero sense
A question to the mod beasts in here; if all this cheating shit results with them adding an anti cheat method to the game and forever dab on your big futa wiener mods would you still play this game or unsub?
depends on how much QoL they add to compensate since they've been slowly doing it already. i'm toning down and stripping out most of my graphical mods because i realize the update for DT will totally gut and reset dev progress on all of them so I need to adapt to anything not an upscale, but this game's UI is a real pain in the ass sometimes and button bloat is a real problem for controllers.

At the end of Shadowbringers until now the following things happened:
>no-life hardcore sentiments increased
>modding increased
>cheating increased
>venues and shouts increased
>personal advertising increased (i.e. Thepopotoartist, any FC with a Discord, etc.)
>hate for Lalafell and other races increased
by a lot. I wonder what caused this.
>wowgay youtubers entered XIV, made videos about it, promoting all of these things and made XIVtubers act like them
No, that can't be. Must have been the weather.
XIV has fallen, millions must unsubscribe
Technically the immigration crisis started as early as mid-heavensward but reached critical mass during stormblood. It's when all these news of ffxiv really making it went around, 20 million accounts or whatever, and the memes of "don't pay my sub" spread and the transsexual talk took over Ganker, /xivg/ was too radioactive and we fled to Ganker and kept getting our threads into trouble, happened during those SB times.
At that time the big youtubers weren't on board yet so you're right, that giant nail came down when you said and frick they're baiting views, they don't know what they're talking about: on purpose.

i'm going to miss his ffxiv meltdowns. I hope wow meltdowns will be kino
I never heard of this guy until I seen him have a meltdown
No one likes him in the FFXIV content creator scene, he went to the NA fanfest and they all ignored him. He has meltdowns every couple of months burning bridges this is why he's had to go back to WoW, he burned everything he had with FFXIV.
Yea I didn’t find out until later he was just some very mentally unstable wow dude who follows lore but FFXIV doesn’t need that because all that stuff is in game already
my favorite is him sitting there taking notes during important cutscenes and still not understanding whats going on in said cutscene
Him having meltdowns is basically all he's known for. The WoW meltdown was pretty funny
Well the thread has turned toward the subject of lalafells but it's only because you seem to have such a problem with them.
>WoW players going back to their game right now

Travel to the past to an era beyond history and save the universe.
This gets rid of a swathe of contrivances and workarounds.
ok but why did golbez destroy the voidgate did his armor tell him to do it? he sneeded azdaja but he kept wearing the armor for the cord and in 2 minutes he chose type B voidgate for his motivation

Am I the only one who like only the ARR areas. they are so comfy and cozy.
no. hw was when map design started to go to shit because of flying. i loved the little winding pathways and caves and valleys of the arr regions that were designed for you to traverse on foot. the black shroud feels more like a forest than raktika and especially thavnair
kys barry
Nah. I still believe flight should be restricted to umbral/astral weather.
I don't only like the ARR areas, but they're definitely the best of XIV, but ShB has some that almost reach the same level as ARR
Floating islands and big open fields of nothing need to go and stay go

I wonder how many anons partake in raiding, not even talking about week 1 clears but just casual pf progging or in static. Either number is low or people just parrot "there's no midcore content" (I agree there isn't) but how can you justify sub fee if you don't do savage? Do you live off the 7 extremes, 3 alliance raids and multiple corridor dungeons each expansion?
>inb4 fishing, triple triad, socializing
Raiding is midcore
Bozja/Eureka is hardcore
Wrong, the real Hardcore is Fallguys.
>if you fail you restart your progress towards the achievment
Imagine the shitstorm
I mean, people are already using cheat sheets for the mountain level on top of speed hacks and the splatoon. People minmaxed the shit out of what is supposed to be casual content lmao fricking mmo players.
I sub for maybe 1 month per year and just do the story and pvp.

>Spin off writers: ...oops.
>could have a cool manga showing these characters in the past before the WoL came
>instead we get a high school drama in modern times
I swear nips have no fricking taste. They strike gold once and frick it up every time.
The real question is, what language does Yshtola speak for you?
I legitimately think that her english VA is absolute stellar and at least on par with the JP one.
She's also not bad looking in real life either for an English woman, would marry.
But...her previous most famous VA role was Sera from Dragon Age inquisition, the "quirky lesbian" with saggy breasts.
Yeah, she has a pretty good range. I hope Y'shtola will have a decent role in DT, she has been pushed aside in almost every expansion sans for half of HW and ShB.
I'll never forget one anon saying Alphi's VA looks like RT and Jerma's son
How much effort is it to shave your beard like Urianger's?
>all white
cringe
>t.
representation matters
Yeah, representation of English people is important I agree.
>alphinaud and urianger
>white
Yeah, they're all white.
whites come in all shapes and sizes
>Timothy Watson is a British actor best known for his role as Rob Titchener in BBC Radio 4's long-running soap opera The Archers and voice roles as Mumkhar in Xenoblade Chronicles and Urianger Augurelt in Final Fantasy XIV.
He's on The Archers ffs, how is he not white?
He's trying to baitpost, don't be so autistic anon.
shtolagays explain yourselves
I remember that guy, he would post his chats on here but refused to share the ai chatbot of yshtola. I was so fricking mad at him
Based and Shtola pilled, should have shared the LLM tho.
Post Y'shtola with dark eyeshadow.
There are actual proud shitters on Ganker that are very loud, but there's also a few solid raiders.

Aloalo criterion savage gunblade glow looks cool...I guess it's time to gather some friends to do savage...
>brappy in the recs
Dude looks like he's going through meth withdrawal
we're a year away from the expac anon, the content drought is real
Nobody talked about chatbubbles until Preach shilled them.
With chatbubble.
Maybe not in your circles, sweetie.
>WoWbuck in my static was hyped for them
>Everyone else was completely lukewarm, most said they probably won't even put them on
Correct choice.
Imagine seeing these fricking disgusting messages
Just wait until they add a bunch of customization like with plates. Its going to be nothing but giant obnoxious glowing popups in every city.
Preach is the only WoWfugee streamer I like but I get so tired hearing him b***h about no chat bubbles. Why the frick do we need more screen clutter? Imagine how awful that shit will be in Limsa. Can't wait for all the RMT bots and Nightclub homosexuals to take up my screen with giant bubbles.
>liking streamers at all
gross
begone
he only wants chat bubbles because of this kinda cool thing his FC did
I always wanted them from the start of ARR
I unironically love Limsa Lominsa and its theme, especially the second part. If only it weren't a cesspool full of moronic larpers
?si=FonDBEGUxu0UdLCf&t=212
1.0 themes better
are bubbles something people really want? it's whatever, you can just read the chat and it's easier that way
It really depends on if you do anything outside of raiding. If you just do instanced content with a few people then who the frick cares.
>e-celeb discussion
People have been talking about chat bubbles since SB and I never cared
How the frick would anyone join any guild besides the Immortal Flames?
Seriously though.
i dont like the desert
too hot and dry
the glams are tied to your gc unfortunately. adders has a headpiece that's a branch-like circlet with leaves that i use in a healer glam. maelstrom also has a really nice miniskirt with great thighhighs that go well with the fending diadochos jacket. flames has... the bawd caster top i guess but i couldn't make a decent glam out of that
I really like the adders mask for NIN but I'm not an adder and you can't dye it
>playing as a woman
>leveeing any sort of opinion
Nah.
How long is the free trial?
Should I bother with side quests?
Whats the most brainlet magic class to use
>How long is the free trial?
unlimited
>Should I bother with side quests?
not unless you want to, any quests without the + sign on it is filler
>Whats the most brainlet magic class to use
>Whats the most brainlet magic class to use
Definitely summoner but you can level all the jobs on the same character. Try out red mage too, it's fun.
i wouldn't go through the story with smn if i were you, it's so incredibly boring and you will spend like 150 hours if not more spamming the same 1 - 2 buttons. other jobs get more job features as they level up but smn plays the same from level 15 to level 86
Better to level Arcanist into Scholar, and get a free Summoner as a treat instead, imo
There's some side quests that are also fun and worth doing, but they are the minority, I wouldn't worry about them at the start
>Whats the most brainlet magic class to use
Usually there are nuances or little tricks to doing a fight on a new role, but not with SMN
that's cus we're just that godlike
SMN is a ranged dps sis
>oops tehe I used ifrit dash and died
>oops I keep doing it tehe
morons find a way to come up with those nuances even when they shouldn't exist.
i dont like any of the melee dps
only one that looks cool is reaper and that isn't unlock till 70
>Personal preference, but I think being a caster and especially a healer in the main story is a little lame
It works just fine 99% of the time, but there's like moment or two that are kind of silly if you're not the trailer derplander adventure man.
I just don't associate the hero who saves everyone as a wizard in a robe. Like I said, personal preference
>Spent 15mins making a portrait so I don't have default portrait when starting DD solo floor
wtf is wrong with me
>Hingashi expansion never ever
man...
SB was enough weeb shit for me.
We're finally going to XIV Murica, I've been waiting years for this
anyway to download the game and update it without and active sub?
not 100% sure but i think that the trial client is the same as the normal client so if you get a trial going you should be able to download it
Is it true stormblood free trial doesn't include ultimates? How about eureka?
no Ultimates, yes Eureka
If they included ultimates it would be used a lot by clear sellers and RMTers which would suck.
no ultimates. the reason is probably
but you can do Eureka
San d'Oria or Ishgard, which captures that knightly elves feel?
what did they mean by this?
You have to eat all of the oysters
(most)Seafood is gross
They have 3 hardcasts...I'm starting to think that summons should be channeled to be cast
meant for
I'm suprised XIV doesn't have any spells that do damage while casting, Like the drain life spells in WoW. would be cool to Ahk morn be something you have to channel during the bahamut phase and it just nukes enemies multiple times similar to how bosses use it.
>wow
opinion discarded, have a nice day
flamethrower 🙂
Oooh yeah I forgot about that one. Frick man I wish it was good.
it is good though
No it isn't. Flamethrower is dogshit. Its 200 potency more than 4 basic aoes, but you don't generate any gauge. There's no world where 200 potency is worth 40 heat. Literally the only use case is if you're on the last pull before a boss in a dungeon, none of your ogcds are up, and you already have 100 heat. Only then should you ever use it and even then its not even a noticeable dps increase.
>ability is called flamethrower
>doesn't interact with the heat gauge
why didn't they just keep the gauss barrel effect from 4.0? it doesn't even interact with wildfire.
because there was zero reason to ever take the gauss barrel off and it added an ugly r-type addon to all guns
And even if there were then maybe it'd lead to you having to think if you have to delay Bahamut for a GCD or two, but oh no thinking we can't have that.
>burst phase misaligns multiple times throughout a fight from delays
>completely out of sync with your party
sounds shitty
Endwalker 2m meta really forces you to play absolutely perfectly otherwise you're just permafricked for the entire pull.
I dont know how they can fix this.
>2 minute burst
This is a moronic boogeyman because people were lining up burst under party buffs with trick every 60 seconds and litany every 180 seconds before the scary "2 minute meta".
>This is a moronic boogeyman because people were lining up burst under party buffs with trick every 60 seconds and litany every 180 seconds before the scary "2 minute meta".
the GNB rotation is so fricking tight that if you don't have 100% uptime you're absolutely fricked for your 2-minute windows unless you intentionally drop GCDs to maintain alignment
What is so hard about staying at 3 boulets at all time? Sam is a lot more annoying, thankfully ew ruined it even more than shb so I never have to play it again
You mean something like this?
meant to reply to
yea, but if you're a pure DoT mage and your one super powerful capstone is a basic b***h DoT refresh, kinda seems underwhelming
I could see them having a 120 second ability that applies all 4 DoTs at once, and if you already had the dots applied the timers all get refreshed AND you get a potency up on them, to reward you for maintaining them.
The problem then would be how do you ramp back up after a forced downtime scenario?
There was this spell from the other game that allowed you to suck up your dots with their current timers unto yourself and then recast them all on another target. Could be repurposed so that when you know that down time is coming from a boss or even if you just want to switch targets you suck up your dots unto yourself and then recast them onto whomever you need to.
that's a great idea, and it's possible in the game's engine (same system as BLU's Peat Pelt and Deep Clean).
I really gotta start leveling blu one of these days cause it seems to have a lot of stuff I'd love to see on a real class.
i don't mind this, optimizing gnb rotation for ultimates was very fun
I think that's the problem I have with it, if it's that strict then it's 100% braindead. Either you do it correctly or you don't.
Oh yeah true we need the immutable 2 minute burst. We can't even entertain the thought that it could be changed.
it was a 6 minute burst before, people shitting their pants about 2 minutes baffles me
>Ahk morn be something you have to channel during the bahamut phase
That'd actually be cool, but yeah maybe there's a reason why they don't really use that in the game. Maybe the ticks would be funky and you'd sometimes lose one? That'd drive parse autists mad.
Imagine raw his wiener must be if he can't handle another night
oysters are an aphrodisiac
nothing for 8 months
>Callback Campaign is back
free 14-days I guess
the problem is that XIV is designed around the 2-minute burst window, and DoT/Sustain jobs don't align well with that. That's the reason they changed PLD around a couple patches ago
it'd be nice if they realised healer DPS doesn't matter and gave them non-standard offensive kits that didn't align with 2 minute burst.
>healer DPS doesn't matter
it absolutely does, "healers" are glorified Green DPS, you're actively disincentivized for hardcasting GCD heals
Having an Iron Jaws button for a DoT-focused class misses the entire point of being a DoT-focused class.
>DoT no work under 2 minute
This is the most moronic post I've seen in a month holy shit
People were lining up SCH's multiple DoTs and SMN's DoTs under burst windows back when shit wasn't 2 minute wtf are you smoking
BRD even has Iron Jaws to auto reset DoTs all at once
Remember Tri-Disaster? You keep your DoTs up at all times and snapshot them under buffs when they come up
I didn't even mention SAM's Higanban which has been around since SB and is a gigantic source of their DPS that gets refreshed in and outside of the burst windows
i think smn should have to make summoning circles around the arena and they can only prep mana for summons while inside those circles
Soon all mods will be banned and all the modbeast freaks will get what they deserve. Futa wiener freaks are on borrowed time.
Settle this ancient debate, its been tense since 2.0
Sex with Middies, or sex with Thighlanders?
middies are literally every video game female ever and highlanders are diet femroe
go full femroe or you a b***h
I prefer to think highlanders are teenager boys and femroes are grown adult men
Mine was that port city thoughever
so community is bashing heavenward then? i wasn't around back then to talk about jobs/content but nanamo assassination plot was the biggest disappointment of the expansion
moreso the "umm i've played since heavensward which was the best expansion ever and" angle is becoming undesirable to prove you're an epic oldgay on Ganker
No, it's not. It's just trying to put the expansions into context of what came before. HW is still good, I still love it.
people are just getting tired of the 'MUH HEAVENSWARD JOB DESIGN' rants which was being pushed my most raid streamers
>so community is bashing heavenward then?
they're just doing it for rage clicks and clout. Everyone knows SB was the "worst" expansion worst in quotes because they're all at least good to great
SB was literally the best
>mumuh muh story
Still liked it more than most of ARR, HW3.1-3.5, EW 3.1-3.5
any anons that played SB when it was current? why is it considered the "worst"? i can understand if you weren't a raider or a casual but SB had
>eureka
>hoh
>omega raids (which are really good)
>no idea about job balance
>two ultimates
I'm just bitter because they ruined WHM. The difference in quality from HW WHM to SB WHM was night and day
Ruined what? There was nothing to ruin, ablooo bloo you lost cleric stance and gained an useless gauge, thin air and benis were better than anything whm lost
SB was top shelf at end-of-expac but pretty crap before that
>Eureka Pagos was sabotaged away from being endless FATE trains because Yoshida really wanted it to be XI and the game is just too fricking fast for endless chain-grinds, this nearly killed Eureka
>Monk was schizophrenic (as usual...) and there was no reason to ever use anything but fire stance, same as there was no reason to ever use anything but wind stance after building GL4 in Shadowbringers, this isn't even getting into the autism surrounding The Tornado Kick Rotation
>Also Monk was still the only job that used Blunt Resistance Down lol, other blunts are healer autoattacks
>WAR was an invincible demigod and the only tank who felt it when they changed between tank or DPS stances, DRK *pshwow* spammed *pshwow* Dark Arts and PLD was kinda there and their gauge generation was fricking awful if they weren't in DPS stance
>Job balance was still pretty bad with a largely accepted speedrunner's meta of WAR, PLD, AST, SCH, DRG, NIN, SMN, BRD. A lot of raider butthurt when a DRK was in the world's-first ultimate party and he picked it just because greatsword go brrrrr
>White Mage was an absolute embarrassment for the developers with a job gauge that was outright nonfunctional, Plenary Indulgence's timer ran out before you could even use it, and between the nonworking abilities, still massive amounts of healing, and newfound ability to spam Holy they were considered dungeon kings of safety and not much else
>HoH kinda went by like a fart in the wind, but people still ran it more than Orthos
>Omega raids had people moan that it was Dissidia NT asset reuse (for Exdeath and Kefka) and lazy memberberries (sure why not) but they were good on the whole
>Ultimates arrived to the cheers of basically nobody except poopsockers and streamers that wanted shit to broadcast for some kind of world-first race that wasn't Savage clears, I cheered because it prompted normal Dreadwyrm weapons to be made for SAM and RDM
Will my wife be a BLU or an original job?
Green, which is like blue, but worse in every way.
Who cares about this midge plot device? Alphinaud should have been the blue mage, blue jongleur should also have been a blue mage
original job
they missed their chance to contrast alphinaud with his sister as a blue mage to a red mage
missed their chance too with the zorn & thorn reference in eulmore for that matter
>WHM quest is all about healing not only healing but doing damage too
>Fricking NPC healers also do damage
>Game introduce SGE who heal people through their damage with kardia
I don't understand these moronic takes

A GUY ON THE FORUM HAS AN OPINION
I prefer Gridania.
Beyond some method of drift recovery that would go a long way:
>Spreading windows out again would deemphasise how punishing missing your window is
>designing fights around the concept of shorter dps checks, rather than always relying the entire fight being a sustained dps check. This would make bursting a tactical question of when, rather than simply a punishment for not playing the piano right
2 MINUTE BAD
3 MINUTE BETTER
1 MINUTE BETTER
>designing fights around the concept of shorter dps checks, rather than always relying the entire fight being a sustained dps check. This would make bursting a tactical question of when, rather than simply a punishment for not playing the piano right
That's kinda how TOP ended up working, and the groups that blindly used their 2 mins on CD were b***hing about some of the DPS checks being impossible.
I doubt they did that on purpose though.
Are we autosageing again?
>Shtola gays all comming over an old hag
>Meanwhile my wife is secretly a dicky.
Lynx Kameli won the sperg bowl.
That gay memed himself into oblivion with the Strand still and let thing resolve.
>strand still

If only he actually played EW so he had a valid opinion to give and it wasn't just him regurgitating official forums shitposts as a veneer for the actual reason for his video: to jump on the doompost bandwagon because he's still sore that his friend group fell apart in Shadowbringers for reasons unrelated to anything with Endwalker.
