How come I rarely, if ever, get comms as an RDM? I singlehandedly prevent a wipe - twice, rez people about 15 times, dont get hit a single time and act politely, and not one of the 7 other people gave me a commendation.
That is to say - what logic do you use when you hand these out?
I generally have these priorities: outstanding performance > performance so poor I have to give a comm so they dont quit the game > class same as me that really knows what theyre doing > standout portrait > funny name

Are you using caster LB when it's available in dungeons? If a RDM uses that at the right time I usually comm them.
If no one does anything noteworthy then it goes to the best portrait.
I use it on the first group after the second boss when its available at the earliest, sometimes at the last group before last boss. Have yet to get a comm at all when I do that to the extent that I wonder if Its actually the reason I dont.

I dont know what people's problem with RDM is - I like the flexibility of being able to res/heal when I have to and jump to/from mobs. The amount of times I rezzed a healer that ate a mechanic, saved myself by healing because healer was too busy with a poor tank, or backflipped out of an aoe just in time is beyond measure.
RDM and BRD are the dumbest players around. I hope you are the exception to the rule

all of this is much harder than other classes I've played this expansion who all have a set rotation they run in every fight with maybe some procs here and there

NTA, but while doing the bare minimum is easy, I'd argue it's a low-skill floor, high-skill ceiling class. Getting the most out of Bard's support while staying on top of damage is more complicated than several of the melees. Largely due to the game's homogenization, ARR, HW, and SB Bard support actually required thinking as well. Compile it all with the giant bosses and their hitboxes, making melee easier than ever... blah blah blah.

I started playing again yesterday I'm on the second raid tier of Pandemonium and seeing people complain the DPS low, these same homosexuals who are fully geared with either fully 650, or BIS gear moaning because my DPS is low, yet at the end of the raid, what do they all do? They all Need on every single piece and the rng leaves me with nothing, I'm stuck at 610-620ilevel gear because people who don't need gear, who are fully levelled keep Needing on gear in the raid tiers.

Most people have tunnel vision in these fights and don't have any idea who is saving who; they just commend the healers without thinking about it. You need to create one of those macros so that any time you cast Verraise on someone, you announce it in party chat. Use the word "Verraise," not "Raise." That might help.
Healers should commend whichever DPS they got to ignore. Tanks should commend healers. DPS should commend each other.

SMN should have lengthy cast times on their summon spells to make up for basically no cast times on Gemshine. Make Resurrection only available during Phoenix and have the ability change itself to a different support ability based on the current primal.
RDM should have the lowest damage output but should get increased healing output and have insane party buffs.

It shouldn't just have infinite mobility plus party support. Traditionally in the series summon spells have super long cast times. Also take away the damage fall-off from their summons so they're the kings of AoE. But it should also have some kind of support, just put their rez on Phoenix only and give every primal its own unique support.

SMN barely even qualifies as a caster, it has 4 hard casts per minute, 1 of which can be skipped with swiftcast

When I used to play: I usually played tank and I would give it to healer. If I played DPS, I would give it to the tank, unless they were shit, then it would go to the healer. I'm shit at healing, but whenever I try, I would also still give it to the tank.
I always get commendation as a Sage, probably because most Sages are terrible.

In leveling dungeons you will always get one piece of gear for your job that you don't already have. So if you go on SAM you will get a guaranteed piece every run and eventually you will be guaranteed the sword. This is not the case for level 50/60/70/80/90 dungeons.
So if I win the full striking set and hold onto it, next time I am guaranteed the sword? Pretty neat

So it'd be a real waste to have those kinds of weapons unless you really like that Gaia kit.

Healers get comms so easily that i actually judge them the harshest and will only comm them if they pull some MAJOR plays or are the only one with a decent portrait.
This is especially true when i play tank.
I only commend dps if they perform well ie. high damage, fast clears, no dying to mechanics, etc. otherwise I don't commend anyone.

Since Stormblood they've been trimming back all the existing classes over and over and over. If Summoner can be completely and utterly gutted to what it is now, and positionals keep getting the chopping block, DRG lost its animation lock and TP is still entirely gone with nothing to compensate, I can assure you Dawntrail will inexplicably decide Casters are just too complicated with their back-and-forth casting and oGCD / RNG and kneecap all of them but BLM as per usual, or suddenly NIN will find its Mudras streamlined to singular button presses, or BRD will lose DoT entirely and both of its buffs get consolidated into one.
Reminder that summoner isn't some almost buttonless job regardless of how much people meme about it.
It actually sits in the middle when it comes to total buttons available.
Also, mudras being converted to how it behaves in pvp would not be an issue at all.
I'm someone that uses PvPCombos to spare my controller hotbar hell, and I still think the actions need reworks to have less bloat, more options rather than streamlining things to singular button presses or removing actions entirely. This game straight up is absolutely fricked on hotbar economy depending on the job and their attempts to "fix it" always do the opposite of what makes sense.
One of the only jobs that really has bad crossbar issues is gnb though. Ast to a lesser degree.
That said, stuff like dancer could really just put fan dance iv on flourish and starfall dance on Devilment. Anything that requires an active buff should really just be attached to it.

Maybe not to the level of Black Mage's difficulty, but something like that.
Like maybe melee need to hit positionals to build up a guage to use on special attacks. You hit the one button main attack, but every 10 seconds or so, a positional comes off cooldown, and you need to use that one. Or you get a 15 second damage buff that you need to reset with a different positional.

You wouldn't do it to MNK because the combo system is a defining job mechanic. But on most jobs that's not the case and there's very little depth provided by having different skills in a linear combo that you always press in the same order. If the PvP combo style was adopted, it would make space for other more interesting skills.

I really don't see the hate towards the entire pvp combo idea. I don't use it on proc based jobs like phys range but on tank its pretty nice.
The hate pretty much boils down to a vocal minority of jackasses that somehow staunchly believe the basic fricking combos and certain other abilities being affixed to one-button PVP style would be removing skill from the game, despite most combos being so braindead there simply isn't any skill about it once you finished ARR. The only jobs with any amount of effort in their basic combo setup anymore is literally just MNK, SAM and the NIN mudras, all the other jobs would easily just benefit from it.
Well honestly if they ever did it, just make it optional, and customizable.

But if it's just a regular run and nothing amazing happens I'll just judge portraits.

in order to not clip your gcd you gotta burn an instant to use them
usually black mages position themselves so that one instant worth of movement is enough for most mechanics
if you clip to use BTL or AM you're playing inefficiently

XIVcombo being implemented in the game would force the devs to add more complexity to the combat than linear damage rotations so it will never happen.
I did this just to see what I could get and parsed an 87 on carbuncle at the time it was current.
I have since then decided this game's combat isn't for me, and I just do side stuff.

Bozja has systems in place that solve basically all of FFXIV's core problems, and the player base hated it.

It would make the game more annoying to play, it's important to know where you are in your combo. If you are only mashing one button you'd easily lose track of where you are and that would lead to errors or you having to pay far far more attention to your buttons.

I played the original Final Fantasy on the NES and have been a fan of the older classical, high fantasy with hints of ancient sci-fi lore. As a result, I play an Elezen Dragoon, and I love hanging out in the Coerthas Highlands. I feel this area really connects to the older games. No hints of sci-fi in this area really. All that other stuff, like Lalafels and such, I do not care for and ruin my immersion when I see them on their “Ceruleum Balloon Mount” floating by me. I hope I ruin theirs with my seriousness.
