She then became Hydaelyn and sundered the world because a bunch of weak humans who die after 80 years were better equipped to deal with the threat than immortal gods who could create whatever they wanted at will. Except the only “human” that could actually stand up to Meteion was 9/14ths of our good friend Azem who also needed Hydaelyns blessing to survive along with my great-grandson Zenos Viator Galvus who had Hydaelyns blessing too, except his was reverse-engineered in a Garlean laboratory. And he was a good friend.
Even if you weren't there and somebody else had to handle it, being 9/14ths of a real person is the key to winning, being almost incorporeal makes you stronger at manipulating emotional energy while fighting a being made of emotions.

It came across as the writer intended (You)-possessed-by-Zenos would actually kill one of the crew, but someone higher up said the Scions were too popular to kill off. But it was a cool idea so they left it in with none of the payoff
Really would have been enough that Zenos at least got to hit Alisaie. Then later Alisaie managing to talk him into helping would have been more symbolic.
Anyway, I didn't get an impression that any of them were meant to die, that would have exceedingly stupid given that Y'shtola could immediately see through the ruse, I get more the feeling that was supposed to be some sort of story power up for WoL (the whole reason Zenos even did that shit to begin with) but it just kinda fell through for some reason.
Im still mad it got resolved in a basically conflictless, zero casualties or injuries cutscene. It wouldve been perfect for an "in the coming battle, you will fight as Zenos yae Galvus in the WoLs body" moment and have you simply toy with the scions and show them how weak they are compared to the WoL and Zenos just to induce them with the theme of the whole expansion, despair. Wouldve given Ultima Thule more impact as well, as the scions realize that in the end the best they can do is be stepping stones for the main character to reach the final boss.

I don't think that would work since WoL has a job that's up to the player, but I have been wanting a "WoL vs Scions" duty for quite a while. Either just sparring or some mind control stuff like that.

The plot handwaves Thavnair and Garlemald as having thinner pockets of aether protecting them for why they get the End Days shit, but Eorzea is having the equivalent of angry fart problems that just HAPPEN to perfectly coincide with plot-important characters losing loved ones in supremely isolated circumstances that don't even feel urgent whatsoever.

I never got that impression. Zenos wanted to test you to see if your strength is all your body (yawn) or if you actually had the resolve to see this through and kill him for good, which is what really made his peepee hard. I though the did it pretty well, making your character pathetically weak, struggling to take down a single enemy and having to rely on items and tech to go somewhere. It even showed a tiny bit of the Garlean inner conflict when you fight with the civilians. And in the end, when your body was bruised and beaten, they made you crawl, because the last thing WoL wants is to return to their friends and see them being killed by Zeons puppeteering their body.
I was really impressed by that scene and enjoyed immensely. Glad I cleared it before they lowered the difficulty.
Pretty sure I made it through that scene like one or two hits away from death. It was honestly one of the most intense things I'd ever experienced in a video game, and I'm not sure if anything will ever equal that specific feeling ever again.
Zenos wanted to see how determined you were in killing him the same way he was after Stormblood, and he did so by doing the same thing that happened to him. Be put in a random soldier's body that is many times weaker than his old form.

Yeah, it felt completely necessary. That revelation added nothing to the story or the character and it was quickly forgotten about after it was mentioned.
I think the weirder part was how the rest of the characters also treated it like it was compeltely irrelevant too, if you're gonna try and sell this as some impactful reveal the least you could do is have the rest of the in universe characters also take it sedriously.

I'm leaning on not liking this theme for multiple reasons unless it has unironic lore ties to FF14, I haven't really spoiled myself. To me it's not necessarily terrible with the breakcore and all but this song just reeks of "Hey, remember 14's Omega? I composed that too. Chicken tenders, man!" If it had it's own small bits of motif it wouldn't bother me as much but he lazily just ripped a whole verse from eScape and the Azys La motif. Like, why?

The fight was cool, but I barely noticed the music. It's a shame, because zeromus himself looks awesome, but when I was trying to clear the extreme version I just wanted it to be over so I could get my 655 rod. Too many meteor wipe parties to enjoy the music, unfortunately.
So anyway, what exactly are they going to do to explain Vanadiel within XIV? Is it another shard? They couldn't make it a part of the world like Ivalice, it's too big with too many conflicts.
We're not going to be able to explore a whole world in an alliance raid, just a handful of locations. And because of that, they also can't directly port over an expansion's story without losing something. They have to shift stuff around, rewrite some plot points, condense some stuff. That's why it shouldn't be related to the real Vana'diel but just be its own thing in XIV's world.
Tavnazia is in the art they showed, so we can probably assume that the Lay of the Immortals will be involved, since that was the whole reason Tavnazia was important in the story at all. It was used to awaken Odin and Promathia. So they can either tie some past wielder of Zantetsuken into the story XIV-Luzaf? to fill Odin's role, or they could just rewrite Promathia into filling Odin's role which isn't TOO huge a stretch because the beastmen thought they were waking up Promathia with the song anyway. By tying those two plot points more closely together you've got an easy path to do stuff like bring in the Shadowlord and Spitewardens as servants of whichever god the Lay of the Immortals woke up, plus everything in Chains of Promathia, and the Zilart because of that, and ToAU stuff through the Odin/Luzaf connection.
The retcons and rewrites would be so massive that if you tried to give it the Ivalice treatment it wouldn't even be a crossover anymore. I cannot see them under any circumstances making it a part of the world like Ivalice, it's entirely impossible to do without destroying the source material you are trying to showcase.
It's not a retcon if it's not the actual Vana'diel. Giving it the Ivalice treatment is how you would protect the source material, because then they can write whatever they need to justify the boss fights instead of retconning and fricking over the proper Vana'diel.

If it's not the actual Vanadiel then it's just some clown creation that doesn't do justice to the crossover and no one will enjoy it. You don't have to rewrite everything and drop a few boss models win without any background or purpose just to satsify your morbid desire to put Vanadiel into the world of 14.
You'd actually have a far harder time getting anything done with that method because half of the storylines either couldn't be used or would have to be rewritten to the point where they wouldn't even make sense.

You want to protect the source material and pay it the proper respect by... retconning the actual events of XI so that WoL can go steamroll through an abridged version of events and delete WoC from canon or something? Back during the wow exodus days in 2021-2022 when /wowg/ was ran by a schizo mod who banned any mention of XIV pinklala would appear regularily. He also showed up in /xivg/. However the ugly y'shtola-haired one and the other 2 have never to my knowledge appeared in /xivg/.
All I remember is that early this year these threads just caught the attention of pinklala, then suddenly the others just appeared alongside him. I'm fairly confident it is all just one pedo attentionprostitute larping as multiple people. Given he's obviously mentally ill and has no life he probably has some fricked up sleep pattern where he just sleeps sporadically and as soon as he wakes up after passing out for a couple hours he rans to Ganker to attentionprostitute until he passes out briefly again. People dont realize that the only solution to an avatargay is a full on IP ban. "Just ignore them" doesn't work history has shown repeatedly. If you ever collectively ignore an avatargay they will respond by spamming the thread into oblivion. Either replying to themselves en-mass (not even discussing the actual game just themselves), spam the thread with random images, porn, or even gore. Ignoring an avatargay is never an option. When exactly did they start showing up? What's more curious is that only the Pink modbeast actually appears in /vg/. Back during the wow exodus days in 2021-2022 when /wowg/ was ran by a schizo mod who banned any mention of XIV pinklala would appear regularily. He also showed up in /xivg/. However the ugly y'shtola-haired one and the other 2 have never to my knowledge appeared in /xivg/.
All I remember is that early this year these threads just caught the attention of pinklala, then suddenly the others just appeared alongside him. I'm fairly confident it is all just one pedo attentionprostitute larping as multiple people. Given he's obviously mentally ill and has no life he probably has some fricked up sleep pattern where he just sleeps sporadically and as soon as he wakes up after passing out for a couple hours he rans to Ganker to attentionprostitute until he passes out briefly again. That would be my guess. Pinklala is also the only one with a confirmed social media presence verifying he's an actual person. The other lalas only proof-of-existence is their characters images being spammed which could just be from one person very easily.
Unless the other ones were banned (I find that unlikely because they're just as obnoxious as Pinklala except he spams porn where as they don't yet he still hasn't been perma'd off /vg/) than it makes no sense for them to not post there. I think it's safe to conclude that it's all just one guy. One guy who a very fricked sleep schedule and an inordinate amount of free time.

People dont realize that the only solution to an avatargay is a full on IP ban. "Just ignore them" doesn't work history has shown repeatedly. If you ever collectively ignore an avatargay they will respond by spamming the thread into oblivion. Either replying to themselves en-mass (not even discussing the actual game just themselves), spam the thread with random images, porn, or even gore. Ignoring an avatargay is never an option. This Fall Guys collab serves one purpose : To advertise Fall Guys to FFXIV players. They are not even sublte about this fact. SE is making lots of money from selling ad space in this game disguised as mere "collabs". Anyone who played WoW probably remembers when the community used to joke about how if Blizzard ever put, say, a Mcdonalds ad in Stormwind that would be the death of the game.

Being a Y'shtola gay is suffering. Each expansion you panic if they will actually kill her, having to go through the fakeout roller coaster again and again. When she is not getting killed she is getting shoved in the background for characters who are more extroverted or she is written out of the plot wholly. The few times she gets to shine, mostly in patch content, are wonderful, spelunking in Temples, visiting Matoya, or the cute slightly fanservice-ish patch that was 6.1. Then you have the Dissidia games where she finally can breath but SE just kills it and CBU3 just outright forbids them to do anything with the Scions at all in crossovers.

Sadly the Scions are here to stay, they won't be leaving much less get killed off. Endwalker was the literal perfect opportunity to do so and they balked at the idea, it's over.
I find them to be somewhat of a shield against anything interesting happening, we know they will never face any real danger. Not that any of them need to specifically be killed off but it takes that edge off of things. Some of them are at the point where their entire character has been played out to the point where the story even comments on them being around just to be dungeon trusts.
I'd like a change of scenery in the adventuring party department and the scions being permanent tends to make that impossible.
Have the devs said anything about job design going into the next expansion? I wanted to finish Endwalker main story but dropped my sub immediately after that, the job changes since Shadowbringers have been atrocious and I have no interest in the endgame content anymore.

I clear savage and criterion savage, and that is exactly what you're supposed to do, criterion especially due to the timer
outside of instances like the last add being almost dead when 2mins are up. Never touched an ult, but from what I hear its mostly TOP where holding or using buffs and big buttons is dependent on how the DPS is during the first four phases.

This has been a thing as far back as second coil. Fights used to absolutely break if you didn't hold or push dps at the right times when progging, A7S was renowned for it. Like just knowing when to hold or use big buttons as a group is an absolutely basic skill and I don't know why they act like its some special thing in ultimate.

Raiders were just bad back then, that's the real redpill. You can call fights streamlined now with little or no downtime, but the fact is that Thordan back in 3.1 was a terror because protean/clocks were a brand new concept from a few months prior, now players have seen everything from that fight over the past 8 years that doing it twice at min ilvl for a weekly reward is a stroll in the park for people who barely touch extremes or savage. A ton of older fights are like this as well, if you put the best raiders from coils or alexander into modern raids they would immediately explode, but if you were to put modern mediocre raiders into ARR or HW era raids (assuming they never touched those beyond Alex normal), they'd probably claim worlds first with relative ease.

World first was held back heavily by gear and people going broke from repairs since it was extremely expensive the first few weeks. Also twisters were heavily bugged and matched with shit servers were a goddamn nightmare to do reliably.

Thordan is a lot easier now than back then damage was nerfed heavily in the unreal. Most noticeable with all the dragoon attacks. You used to have to go opposite the tether to keep from getting one shot now it's literally just go clock spots and take like no damage from it. Dives do like a fourth the damage also.

at the end of the day, a tower is a tower, just because i have a number that says i have to take the first one or a light debuff that says i have to take a dark one doesn’t fundamentally change the mechanic. the most they’ve done is given you less time to react and removing any ability to course correct from momentary mistakes (see caloric), which isn’t interesting or fun in the slightest

ew alliance raids are far more chill than sb, shb and hw except void ark
normal raids are are mixed bag, all 4 expacs have braindead embarrassing raids but i’ve wiped to normal mode refurbisher more than all the sb, shb and ew raids combined. in general hw normal raids cause more wipes and you can bet 90% of people don’t even know what the frick just happened when they don’t do enough dps to skip mechanics on cruise chaser and wipe or the bombs blow them up in ratfinx. in general ew and shb raids are very easy with no particular outliers, sb at least has omega f and m which have caused numerous wipes before
ew trials are the hardest for sure though, hydaelyn, zodiark and sometimes even endsinger cause wipes and i’ve even wiped to normal golbez for some fricking reason

Hydaelyn is the oddball, the rest are pretty damn easy. Zodiark wipes are always a case of healers not healing. I wish Hydaelyn normal was the base design philosophy for trials going forward, that's what preSHB trials used to feel like.

nah 90% of zodiark wipes are caused by the fact he does oneshot or near oneshot mechanics followed by a multihit stack. astral eclipse -> styx or algedon kb -> styx are the wipe causers most of the time, if he kills 3 - 4 people before he does styx it’s pretty much game over since tanks are allergic to pressing reprisal and dps are allergic to pressing addle and feint
i actually don’t mind that design, more normal mode fights should softcheck for bodies after a big mechanic with a multihit stack or towers

It's about your job gauge anon and how you utilize that. A WHM for example can build up to their lily and is free to use it whenever, same with say a WAR and their extra cleaves or Inner Chaos. You are free to press that button any time you want but if you wait and use it under buffs then obviously it does more damage right? With the 2 minute meta people are still pressing their same buffs but now things line up more frequently and it gives you more to think about in how you use your skills and get the most out of them.
For savage you don't need to do any optimizing outside of week one clears so it doesn't matter, it is however more fun this way if you want to try and be a better player. For the newer ultimates it absolutely does matter and puts more pressure on you to know what you are doing.

i have never seen a single whm pool a blood lily for 2min window, they either use a lily heal during 2mins to hastily get their blood lily, defeating the entire purpose, or they just keep glaring

If you want something that is a perfect example of having fun and playing your best look at Stormblood Monk when Tornado Kick rotation existed. It was insanely hard with crazy timing but if you made it work you did so much more dps than any other job even without burst windows lining up. Make that shit happen again. Give us risk reward as opposed to press the light up buttons every 120 seconds.

The point anon is that prior to this jobs had buttons that were on varying timers that meant that your buffs might only line up (not counting the opener) a couple times per fight, it meant that there were far fewer chances to maximize your damage as a team and you personally put less effort into how you used your NON BURST buttons/meter. It's more fun in the 2 minute meta because buffs line up more often and provide you more opportunities to try and fit other buttons into the burst window.

I used to prog on multiple jobs since it was just fun to play but now I couldn't give less fricks about savage. Omega was the last good raid and I will die on this hill.

REMINDER to demand old patch schedules back, there is NO excuse for them to be longer than three months, now. The team as returned to XIV, so that better mean Soken actually putting effort into his music instead of le remix #23703, that better means we don't have weird job tuning like EW NIN on release or P8S where a chunk of jobs could not meet dps requirements without landing a yom of crits, that means all criteriom savage should have glowstick weapons and more, that means mew Island sanctuary shouldn't be a piece of shit, that means the FF11 raid should be like the FF12 or Mhach alliance raids compared to Nier and Myths, that means DT better be a good fricking expansion from start to finish.
Dragoon hasn't been in a good state in a while, every time they add something new you can hear the joints start to strain and creak under the weight, like your chair when you sit in it. It doesn't need a full SMN style rebuild but it does need everything that isn't it's base rotation looked at.
DRG stopped being good after SB. I dunno why you guys think its currently well designed when you lost BotD timing in SHB and positionals mattering in EW, along with the tether. there's a lot of people obsessed with the idea that someone has to die, but i've said it before and say it again; it's not that no major characters are dying, it's that they have no consequences. when the Bloody Banquet happened, Minfillia basically was plot macguffin dead, Y'shtola was blinded, and Thancred got his aether output fricked. Alphinaud was traumatized to speechlessness and having to recuperate, and just remembering the entire thing is traumatic for Tataru. the event actually shaped the character's opinions, lives and actions going forwards.
everything since then has mostly been the characters just expanding and improving upon themselves since then. Papalymo dies? oh it's sad but only Lyse feels much for it and everyone else just shrugs it off as a heartfelt sacrifice. oh, that one girl at the orphanage got Sin Eater'd? Alisaie is horrified but this mostly just becomes a thing for her to mention every once in a while as a goal for her to prevent from happening again. Y'shtola and Urianger may as well have functionally not changed much beyond the former's goals to travel shards and Matoya-isms. Thancred gets the lion's share because he functionally becomes two characters in one between angsty brooding dad and snarky rogue of a lady's man spy.
i'm not saying "CRIPPLE THE CAT b***h" but even the fricking End Days is just "oh gods that's really bad, we need to stop it with the power of friendship" more than anyone actually growing or developing or facing consequences of their actions or anything. they feel more like a static ensemble than they do a dynamic group of living, breathing characters now, and that's the main problem. I don't want them being senselessly murdered but I don't want them to exist in this permanent state of dicksuckery.
Thats how I feel as well. Thancred like you said has a ton of development, but really it was just Ryne attached to his hip and as soon as he went back its like nothing really changed. I don't want scions to be killed forcsame of drama, but I really wish we could get new characters that didn't have to compete with scions.
Like Erenville, not the most exciting, but if 7.0 were to mostly have him, Krile, the new cat lady, and only one returning scion, I would've much preferred that over the entire main scion group. Then in 8.0, you get another returner or two, maybe cat lady sticks around, and the others are new characters, and so on.

That is just Ganker being contrarian and hating everything that isn't a male midlander warrior or the most niche of NPC. The biggest problem each MSQ Scion has is that you always see them in a business sense. There is very little camaraderie that builds that way. For that reason I figured 6.x being just slice of life, low stakes adventure with rotation Scions would have absolutely great, just give these characters time to beath and bond with you. And you know what? 6.1 was great. Too bad they dropped it for the weirdly paced and kinda redundant void plot.
Y'shtola is fine. Someone needs to be the reliable straight man of the group, otherwise you'd get WoL getting torn apart between Thancred fricking up because he was brooding about his mistakes, Urianger going for the third scheme of the month, G'raha thinking he needs to die so badly he almost kills you instead, etc. When you have every single character being the "I made a mistake and must now spend 2-3 expansions atoning for it" archetype, you don't end up with a balanced party of characters with realistic struggles but who can still push through and get things done, you end up with a bunch of incompetent people where you're not sure if you can actually lean in on them until they've fulfilled their character arcs and gotten over their issues.
The only real complaints I have about her story is that where in ShB everyone got something personal to drive their plot forward, like Thancred having Ryne be the entire culmination of his story throughout the game, Alisaie getting Tesleen to drive forward her tempering plot, etc. Y'shtola got the Night's Blessed who effectively did nothing at all but get her to almost kill herself again in a scene that ended up being really more about Emet-Selch than about her. Her plot in ShB ended up being about her relationship with WoL and Urianger, and how in the latter case they go from mistrust and manipulation to Urianger deciding he won't let her die alone in UT. And now that they're just peaceful and safe forever there really doesn't seem like there's anything they're gonna be able to contribute beyond doing what she already planned to do anyway, which is look for more knowledge on the shards. Unless they explode offscreen or something, but that seems like spiting the player after so much time helping them survive. This game doesn't usually do "And then that place you saved previously dies anyway" plots.
Also I think that's why some people think her and Alisaie are the worst, because Alisaie is the next character who also fits more into that niche. Alisaie doesn't have any tremendous "Oh no I failed so hard, I must spend the next 3 expansions flogging myself" arcs. Her tempering arc isn't really about her own personal mistakes but about a general problem that affected her in particular.
I personally didnt care much about alisae pre ShB or maybe pre 5.4 even, but I really appreciated that the tempering cure came from her relentless pursuit to cure it even if it was possible. Even alphy gave up on saving them

I don't think it will be an expansion. The Thirteenth just doesn't have the content left to make for a full one. We've already seen a lot of varieties of "empty platform floating in the dark void" stages, there's no big villain to oppose left (Well, there's CoD and Diabolos, but they're not going to center a whole expansion on defeating one mindless butthole villain we already defeated before) and even if the Thirteenth got restored by the time we go back, it'd just be a peaceful "virgin" world until they have time to reestablish civilization and all the conflict that comes with it.

She then became Hydaelyn and sundered the world because a bunch of weak humans who die after 80 years were better equipped to deal with the threat than immortal gods who could create whatever they wanted at will. Except the only “human” that could actually stand up to Meteion was 9/14ths of our good friend Azem who also needed Hydaelyns blessing to survive along with my great-grandson Zenos Viator Galvus who had Hydaelyns blessing too, except his was reverse-engineered in a Garlean laboratory. And he was a good friend.
Even if you weren't there and somebody else had to handle it, being 9/14ths of a real person is the key to winning, being almost incorporeal makes you stronger at manipulating emotional energy while fighting a being made of emotions.

Im still mad it got resolved in a basically conflictless, zero casualties or injuries cutscene. It wouldve been perfect for an "in the coming battle, you will fight as Zenos yae Galvus in the WoLs body" moment and have you simply toy with the scions and show them how weak they are compared to the WoL and Zenos just to induce them with the theme of the whole expansion, despair. Wouldve given Ultima Thule more impact as well, as the scions realize that in the end the best they can do is be stepping stones for the main character to reach the final boss.
Eh, I like the idea of settling a bit of the despair theme early on, but the last part is a bit too depressing.

EW feeling like the most rushed, hack job expansion the game has ever had is genuinely tragic. You can't really write out of it either, this is somehow their idea of a good ending for the entire main storyline.
They'll never pull another Papalyo. At most they'll pull a Moenbryda and bring in a new scion who's entire purpose is to die and raise the stakes without having to sacrifice anyone on the core team again.

I never got that impression. Zenos wanted to test you to see if your strength is all your body (yawn) or if you actually had the resolve to see this through and kill him for good, which is what really made his peepee hard. I though the did it pretty well, making your character pathetically weak, struggling to take down a single enemy and having to rely on items and tech to go somewhere. It even showed a tiny bit of the Garlean inner conflict when you fight with the civilians. And in the end, when your body was bruised and beaten, they made you crawl, because the last thing WoL wants is to return to their friends and see them being killed by Zeons puppeteering their body.
I was really impressed by that scene and enjoyed immensely. Glad I cleared it before they lowered the difficulty.

It's far too big both lore and map wise to really do that.
We're not going to be able to explore a whole world in an alliance raid, just a handful of locations. And because of that, they also can't directly port over an expansion's story without losing something. They have to shift stuff around, rewrite some plot points, condense some stuff. That's why it shouldn't be related to the real Vana'diel but just be its own thing in XIV's world.
Tavnazia is in the art they showed, so we can probably assume that the Lay of the Immortals will be involved, since that was the whole reason Tavnazia was important in the story at all. It was used to awaken Odin and Promathia. So they can either tie some past wielder of Zantetsuken into the story XIV-Luzaf? to fill Odin's role, or they could just rewrite Promathia into filling Odin's role which isn't TOO huge a stretch because the beastmen thought they were waking up Promathia with the song anyway. By tying those two plot points more closely together you've got an easy path to do stuff like bring in the Shadowlord and Spitewardens as servants of whichever god the Lay of the Immortals woke up, plus everything in Chains of Promathia, and the Zilart because of that, and ToAU stuff through the Odin/Luzaf connection.
The retcons and rewrites would be so massive that if you tried to give it the Ivalice treatment it wouldn't even be a crossover anymore. I cannot see them under any circumstances making it a part of the world like Ivalice, it's entirely impossible to do without destroying the source material you are trying to showcase.
It's not a retcon if it's not the actual Vana'diel. Giving it the Ivalice treatment is how you would protect the source material, because then they can write whatever they need to justify the boss fights instead of retconning and fricking over the proper Vana'diel.

You don't even have to have it be the real Vana. Just have the events that transpired in that universe/world affecting the Source without having to directly cross over to it or be involved.
If it's not the actual Vanadiel then it's just some clown creation that doesn't do justice to the crossover and no one will enjoy it. You don't have to rewrite everything and drop a few boss models win without any background or purpose just to satsify your morbid desire to put Vanadiel into the world of 14.
You'd actually have a far harder time getting anything done with that method because half of the storylines either couldn't be used or would have to be rewritten to the point where they wouldn't even make sense.

When exactly did they start showing up? What's more curious is that only the Pink modbeast actually appears in /vg/. Back during the wow exodus days in 2021-2022 when /wowg/ was ran by a schizo mod who banned any mention of XIV pinklala would appear regularily. He also showed up in /xivg/. However the ugly y'shtola-haired one and the other 2 have never to my knowledge appeared in /xivg/.
All I remember is that early this year these threads just caught the attention of pinklala, then suddenly the others just appeared alongside him. I'm fairly confident it is all just one pedo attentionprostitute larping as multiple people. Given he's obviously mentally ill and has no life he probably has some fricked up sleep pattern where he just sleeps sporadically and as soon as he wakes up after passing out for a couple hours he rans to Ganker to attentionprostitute until he passes out briefly again. That would be my guess. Pinklala is also the only one with a confirmed social media presence verifying he's an actual person. The other lalas only proof-of-existence is their characters images being spammed which could just be from one person very easily.

People dont realize that the only solution to an avatargay is a full on IP ban. "Just ignore them" doesn't work history has shown repeatedly. If you ever collectively ignore an avatargay they will respond by spamming the thread into oblivion. Either replying to themselves en-mass (not even discussing the actual game just themselves), spam the thread with random images, porn, or even gore. Ignoring an avatargay is never an option. Moderators need to actual enforce the rule and ban them for good. Once your thread becomes infected with an avatargay attentionprostitute only extreme measures will make them go away.

Being a Y'shtola gay is suffering. Each expansion you panic if they will actually kill her, having to go through the fakeout roller coaster again and again. When she is not getting killed she is getting shoved in the background for characters who are more extroverted or she is written out of the plot wholly. The few times she gets to shine, mostly in patch content, are wonderful, spelunking in Temples, visiting Matoya, or the cute slightly fanservice-ish patch that was 6.1. Then you have the Dissidia games where she finally can breath but SE just kills it and CBU3 just outright forbids them to do anything with the Scions at all in crossovers.

I find them to be somewhat of a shield against anything interesting happening, we know they will never face any real danger. Not that any of them need to specifically be killed off but it takes that edge off of things. Some of them are at the point where their entire character has been played out to the point where the story even comments on them being around just to be dungeon trusts.
I'd like a change of scenery in the adventuring party department and the scions being permanent tends to make that impossible.

If you don't run content harder than dungeons then you really shouldn't be posting about job balance, fight design, or buff timings.
I clear savage and criterion savage, and that is exactly what you're supposed to do, criterion especially due to the timer
outside of instances like the last add being almost dead when 2mins are up. Never touched an ult, but from what I hear its mostly TOP where holding or using buffs and big buttons is dependent on how the DPS is during the first four phases.
This has been a thing as far back as second coil. Fights used to absolutely break if you didn't hold or push dps at the right times when progging, A7S was renowned for it. Like just knowing when to hold or use big buttons as a group is an absolutely basic skill and I don't know why they act like its some special thing in ultimate.
Raiders were just bad back then, that's the real redpill. You can call fights streamlined now with little or no downtime, but the fact is that Thordan back in 3.1 was a terror because protean/clocks were a brand new concept from a few months prior, now players have seen everything from that fight over the past 8 years that doing it twice at min ilvl for a weekly reward is a stroll in the park for people who barely touch extremes or savage. A ton of older fights are like this as well, if you put the best raiders from coils or alexander into modern raids they would immediately explode, but if you were to put modern mediocre raiders into ARR or HW era raids (assuming they never touched those beyond Alex normal), they'd probably claim worlds first with relative ease.

World first was held back heavily by gear and people going broke from repairs since it was extremely expensive the first few weeks. Also twisters were heavily bugged and matched with shit servers were a goddamn nightmare to do reliably.
Thordan is a lot easier now than back then damage was nerfed heavily in the unreal. Most noticeable with all the dragoon attacks. You used to have to go opposite the tether to keep from getting one shot now it's literally just go clock spots and take like no damage from it. Dives do like a fourth the damage also.
This was debunked on day 1, the damage was not nerfed.

at the end of the day, a tower is a tower, just because i have a number that says i have to take the first one or a light debuff that says i have to take a dark one doesn’t fundamentally change the mechanic. the most they’ve done is given you less time to react and removing any ability to course correct from momentary mistakes (see caloric), which isn’t interesting or fun in the slightest
I'm a fairly new player and doing raids in EW feels like being part of a circus while someone throws skittles on my screen. Until ShB things were pretty chill in terms of boss mechanics.
ew alliance raids are far more chill than sb, shb and hw except void ark
normal raids are are mixed bag, all 4 expacs have braindead embarrassing raids but i’ve wiped to normal mode refurbisher more than all the sb, shb and ew raids combined. in general hw normal raids cause more wipes and you can bet 90% of people don’t even know what the frick just happened when they don’t do enough dps to skip mechanics on cruise chaser and wipe or the bombs blow them up in ratfinx. in general ew and shb raids are very easy with no particular outliers, sb at least has omega f and m which have caused numerous wipes before
ew trials are the hardest for sure though, hydaelyn, zodiark and sometimes even endsinger cause wipes and i’ve even wiped to normal golbez for some fricking reason
Hydaelyn is the oddball, the rest are pretty damn easy. Zodiark wipes are always a case of healers not healing. I wish Hydaelyn normal was the base design philosophy for trials going forward, that's what preSHB trials used to feel like.
nah 90% of zodiark wipes are caused by the fact he does oneshot or near oneshot mechanics followed by a multihit stack. astral eclipse -> styx or algedon kb -> styx are the wipe causers most of the time, if he kills 3 - 4 people before he does styx it’s pretty much game over since tanks are allergic to pressing reprisal and dps are allergic to pressing addle and feint
i actually don’t mind that design, more normal mode fights should softcheck for bodies after a big mechanic with a multihit stack or towers
All raids, where you either stand at the right spot at the right time or get punted of the stage, are always fun in normal mode.
It's about your job gauge anon and how you utilize that. A WHM for example can build up to their lily and is free to use it whenever, same with say a WAR and their extra cleaves or Inner Chaos. You are free to press that button any time you want but if you wait and use it under buffs then obviously it does more damage right? With the 2 minute meta people are still pressing their same buffs but now things line up more frequently and it gives you more to think about in how you use your skills and get the most out of them.
For savage you don't need to do any optimizing outside of week one clears so it doesn't matter, it is however more fun this way if you want to try and be a better player. For the newer ultimates it absolutely does matter and puts more pressure on you to know what you are doing.
But that's pretty common knowledge, are you telling me people don't fit in two IC during two minutes if playing WAR? When I say "push buttons and win" I still mean doing the proper rotation and basic resource management.
i have never seen a single whm pool a blood lily for 2min window, they either use a lily heal during 2mins to hastily get their blood lily, defeating the entire purpose, or they just keep glaring

If you want something that is a perfect example of having fun and playing your best look at Stormblood Monk when Tornado Kick rotation existed. It was insanely hard with crazy timing but if you made it work you did so much more dps than any other job even without burst windows lining up. Make that shit happen again. Give us risk reward as opposed to press the light up buttons every 120 seconds.

The point anon is that prior to this jobs had buttons that were on varying timers that meant that your buffs might only line up (not counting the opener) a couple times per fight, it meant that there were far fewer chances to maximize your damage as a team and you personally put less effort into how you used your NON BURST buttons/meter. It's more fun in the 2 minute meta because buffs line up more often and provide you more opportunities to try and fit other buttons into the burst window.

Dragoon hasn't been in a good state in a while, every time they add something new you can hear the joints start to strain and creak under the weight, like your chair when you sit in it. It doesn't need a full SMN style rebuild but it does need everything that isn't it's base rotation looked at.

there's a lot of people obsessed with the idea that someone has to die, but i've said it before and say it again; it's not that no major characters are dying, it's that they have no consequences. when the Bloody Banquet happened, Minfillia basically was plot macguffin dead, Y'shtola was blinded, and Thancred got his aether output fricked. Alphinaud was traumatized to speechlessness and having to recuperate, and just remembering the entire thing is traumatic for Tataru. the event actually shaped the character's opinions, lives and actions going forwards.
everything since then has mostly been the characters just expanding and improving upon themselves since then. Papalymo dies? oh it's sad but only Lyse feels much for it and everyone else just shrugs it off as a heartfelt sacrifice. oh, that one girl at the orphanage got Sin Eater'd? Alisaie is horrified but this mostly just becomes a thing for her to mention every once in a while as a goal for her to prevent from happening again. Y'shtola and Urianger may as well have functionally not changed much beyond the former's goals to travel shards and Matoya-isms. Thancred gets the lion's share because he functionally becomes two characters in one between angsty brooding dad and snarky rogue of a lady's man spy.
i'm not saying "CRIPPLE THE CAT b***h" but even the fricking End Days is just "oh gods that's really bad, we need to stop it with the power of friendship" more than anyone actually growing or developing or facing consequences of their actions or anything. they feel more like a static ensemble than they do a dynamic group of living, breathing characters now, and that's the main problem. I don't want them being senselessly murdered but I don't want them to exist in this permanent state of dicksuckery.

Like Erenville, not the most exciting, but if 7.0 were to mostly have him, Krile, the new cat lady, and only one returning scion, I would've much preferred that over the entire main scion group. Then in 8.0, you get another returner or two, maybe cat lady sticks around, and the others are new characters, and so on.

That is just Ganker being contrarian and hating everything that isn't a male midlander warrior or the most niche of NPC. The biggest problem each MSQ Scion has is that you always see them in a business sense. There is very little camaraderie that builds that way. For that reason I figured 6.x being just slice of life, low stakes adventure with rotation Scions would have absolutely great, just give these characters time to beath and bond with you. And you know what? 6.1 was great. Too bad they dropped it for the weirdly paced and kinda redundant void plot.
Y'shtola is fine. Someone needs to be the reliable straight man of the group, otherwise you'd get WoL getting torn apart between Thancred fricking up because he was brooding about his mistakes, Urianger going for the third scheme of the month, G'raha thinking he needs to die so badly he almost kills you instead, etc. When you have every single character being the "I made a mistake and must now spend 2-3 expansions atoning for it" archetype, you don't end up with a balanced party of characters with realistic struggles but who can still push through and get things done, you end up with a bunch of incompetent people where you're not sure if you can actually lean in on them until they've fulfilled their character arcs and gotten over their issues.
The only real complaints I have about her story is that where in ShB everyone got something personal to drive their plot forward, like Thancred having Ryne be the entire culmination of his story throughout the game, Alisaie getting Tesleen to drive forward her tempering plot, etc. Y'shtola got the Night's Blessed who effectively did nothing at all but get her to almost kill herself again in a scene that ended up being really more about Emet-Selch than about her. Her plot in ShB ended up being about her relationship with WoL and Urianger, and how in the latter case they go from mistrust and manipulation to Urianger deciding he won't let her die alone in UT. And now that they're just peaceful and safe forever there really doesn't seem like there's anything they're gonna be able to contribute beyond doing what she already planned to do anyway, which is look for more knowledge on the shards. Unless they explode offscreen or something, but that seems like spiting the player after so much time helping them survive. This game doesn't usually do "And then that place you saved previously dies anyway" plots.
Also I think that's why some people think her and Alisaie are the worst, because Alisaie is the next character who also fits more into that niche. Alisaie doesn't have any tremendous "Oh no I failed so hard, I must spend the next 3 expansions flogging myself" arcs. Her tempering arc isn't really about her own personal mistakes but about a general problem that affected her in particular.

I don't think it will be an expansion. The Thirteenth just doesn't have the content left to make for a full one. We've already seen a lot of varieties of "empty platform floating in the dark void" stages, there's no big villain to oppose left (Well, there's CoD and Diabolos, but they're not going to center a whole expansion on defeating one mindless butthole villain we already defeated before) and even if the Thirteenth got restored by the time we go back, it'd just be a peaceful "virgin" world until they have time to reestablish civilization and all the conflict that comes with it.
