Biggest thought train seems to be they'll reuse SMN and SCH DoTs for the new caster DPS, I'd be impressed if we didn't get something DoT focused or some return to DoTs for healers specifically to address that they have NOTHING except an AoE attack and a cooldown skill to deal with groups, and only WHM's AoE attack is really worth a pinch of shit because of the stun

Probably super late reply and you already checked other places: any job is viable in every ultimate, I won't say you are handicapping yourself by picking black mage but summoner&redmage deal more damage and require less skill at 70 (again, damage literally doesn't matter in UCOB as you can do a 7man clear). Also I recommend you do not do ranged task of baiting fire puddles so you could play as "fake melee" for maximum damage. Good luck with prog anon. Also you didnt ask but i'll tell you otherwise don't bother getting bis gear just get high ilvl gear with desired substats + latest adjustable substats manderville weapon for maximum stat gain after sync'ing down.

I loved the whole premise with the Myth raids. Fight the Twelve. I wanted to get slapped around. I hated the Nier raids for being crossover shit. The fights are still capable of wiping parties.

I really don't get why people take Endsinger's fight as proof of any power levels. It's not even just Zenos, back in 1.0 the Scions alone praying for Louisoix superpowered him enough to defeat Bahamut. And in Endsinger we get the same but also in a place that amplifies it almost infinitely.
Didn't Urianger go around in 1.0 getting everybody in Eorzea to pray to the Twelve during the Calamity to provide the prayer juice for Louisoix? It wasn't just the Scion's prayers there.

Eureka allowed me to spend two hours in there farming FATEs and be done capping tomes for the entire week and allowed me to skip Expert roulette for the entire expansion. It was better.

I was expecting 2, DSR is not an EW Ultimate it's a Shadowbringers Ultimate that was delayed due to Covid. The fact the dps check is piss easy with not even current BIS but 630-650 gear is further proof. The fight was tuned for Shadowbringers, which is fine, but EW only got one true EW Ultimate.

Eureka is simply farming trash mobs over and over again until you unlock BA, and the design of BA is fun but nothing too exceptional.
Bozja has some cool fights but suffers from too much randomness/having to wait for shit to spawn.
DRS is cool but the fights are a bit too simple imo because of the massive numbers of people participating in it imo.
Variants/criterions are straights and to the points and criterions have some of the best fights in the games.

Nah. They're just more hallways. Variants have some cool puzzles to solve but criterions are just more binary oneshot mechanics for raiders who need something to use their savage gear on.
At least exploration zones fostered player interaction unlike most of the content in the game.

Variants and criterions will be evergreen because the items you get from there sell for quite a lot. Criterions will also appeal to the people trying to get mounts/complete every challenge in the game and the last criterion savage has unique glam you cant get anywhere else for several weapons. I regularly join criterion pf to get gils while i went through eureka once and was done with it.
I haven't done the Ultimates so I can't speak for that but I really did not think the trials were anything special, Barb was fun, Rubi was just annoying, Golby and Zeromus were just okay, I enjoyed the Weapons and the Four Lord's much more in terms of trials

Why do so many people say DRK stops being squishy when you get TBN? Even after hitting 70 and getting that skill, I'm still extremely squishy. Frick this class.
You get less regen than pld and war but in some fights, DRK is giga tanky, especially if they can use dark mind. TBN is great because it doesnt fall off like other dmg reductions skills when stacked
yes it does because you can't just kitchen sink and invuln your way through many tankbusters
best example of this is p10s where drk really shines, all the shared busters are magical damage and all the tower busters are physical so you can plan accordingly for drk, 1 invuln buster, rampart/shadow wall oblation tbn towers, shared buster with dark mind tbn oblation, turrets with shadow wall/rampart tbn oblation and so on
in ultimates you do need to plan even better, in tea drk also really shines thanks to dark missionary, dark mind for mines and living liquid tethers and so on
drk is probably the best tank defensively at 90 along with gunbreaker but a lot of people don't know how to mit and a lot more don't use noclippy or xivalex to double weave mits and damage so they can miss mits
there won't be a tank to heal if the mitigation isn't there
but in any case i think i get your point, maybe a better example would be abyssos where most tankbusters and aoes also applied a bleed
and the tank towers in p10s also apply a dot maybe even in caloric you may see the same thing where maybe a main tank needs some extra healing due to autos
regardless, in ultimates it's more coordinated and ucob has crits if you want to heal through them
It matters a lot with a lot of busters being mit checks recently.
Take Hallowed Plumes in DSR for example. Every other tank will melt to one of them because they will have to use only their 3rd cooldown for it. Dark Knight can use DM on both of them making them much less scary.
Assuming both tanks have 90k HP:
DRK with DM+Oblation+TBN will have 22k after the hit.
GNB with Camo+HoC will have 4k after the hit but will recover around 12k from HoC self heal.
Obviously healers will use targeted mits on top.
We should be getting both exploration zones and variants/criterions. We got a deep dungeon and 4 eureka zones in Stormblood. The playerbase has grown massively since then. No excuses, give us more shit.
Eureka content is copy pasted trash mobs until they shat out BA. The mechanics in BA are also fairly simple. Eureka is low effort compared to bozja or criterions/variants
Does SCH just suck wiener at level 68? I just did a Doma Castle run with a SCH healer with me on GNB and every wall to wall pull had me blowing basically all my CDs as GNB, I don't remember having trouble on this class before
They were in Shire gear so that was probably part of it, I saw a lot of Succor but I've never touched the class so I have no idea if that is usual or not

There's regular content lull with slightly more decline since people don't have a Foray to keep them subbed and grinding until next expac. And a lot of wowfugees going back to Blizzard.
But on the other hand there's stuff like the graphics overhaul and cloud servers indicating that SE might finally be reinvesting in the game. And statements from Yoshida that the team is mostly back on XIV now (but he lies sometimes so who knows).
90%+ of my friend group are still subbed so it doesn't feel very over.

The biggest aspect for subs staying past that is there is no real alternative on mmorpg market currently if all you wanna do is play a few dungeon per week.
I find it fun, it's a lot more active too.
Feast style PVP was a bit more technical but was basically finished after 2 or 4 kills.
And WAY too fricking much was on the shoulder of your healer.

Awakening the Echo wasn't dependent on Hydaelyn, it was dependent on seeing something that triggered your latent memories from the original Final Days. Think..." line, it's not that she awoke it for you, it's that you finally could hear something she's repeating at all times. And once you hear that, she gives you the Blessing of Light.

I was expecting 2, DSR is not an EW Ultimate it's a Shadowbringers Ultimate that was delayed due to Covid. The fact the dps check is piss easy with not even current BIS but 630-650 gear is further proof. The fight was tuned for Shadowbringers, which is fine, but EW only got one true EW Ultimate.

Variants/criterions are straights and to the points and criterions have some of the best fights in the games.

Variants and criterions will be evergreen because the items you get from there sell for quite a lot. Criterions will also appeal to the people trying to get mounts/complete every challenge in the game and the last criterion savage has unique glam you cant get anywhere else for several weapons. I regularly join criterion pf to get gils while i went through eureka once and was done with it.
I haven't done the Ultimates so I can't speak for that but I really did not think the trials were anything special, Barb was fun, Rubi was just annoying, Golby and Zeromus were just okay, I enjoyed the Weapons and the Four Lord's much more in terms of trials

Why do so many people say DRK stops being squishy when you get TBN? Even after hitting 70 and getting that skill, I'm still extremely squishy. Frick this class.
You get less regen than pld and war but in some fights, DRK is giga tanky, especially if they can use dark mind. TBN is great because it doesnt fall off like other dmg reductions skills when stacked

DRK is excellent against magic damage. Most raid damage happens to be magic damage so DRK ends up having better mit.

yes it does because you can't just kitchen sink and invuln your way through many tankbusters
best example of this is p10s where drk really shines, all the shared busters are magical damage and all the tower busters are physical so you can plan accordingly for drk, 1 invuln buster, rampart/shadow wall oblation tbn towers, shared buster with dark mind tbn oblation, turrets with shadow wall/rampart tbn oblation and so on
in ultimates you do need to plan even better, in tea drk also really shines thanks to dark missionary, dark mind for mines and living liquid tethers and so on
drk is probably the best tank defensively at 90 along with gunbreaker but a lot of people don't know how to mit and a lot more don't use noclippy or xivalex to double weave mits and damage so they can miss mits

It matters a lot with a lot of busters being mit checks recently.
Take Hallowed Plumes in DSR for example. Every other tank will melt to one of them because they will have to use only their 3rd cooldown for it. Dark Knight can use DM on both of them making them much less scary.
Assuming both tanks have 90k HP:
DRK with DM+Oblation+TBN will have 22k after the hit.
GNB with Camo+HoC will have 4k after the hit but will recover around 12k from HoC self heal.
Obviously healers will use targeted mits on top.

In Rival Wings you can gain LB charge extremely fast, if you play SMN it's possible to gain it so quickly that Bahamut isn't even ready yet and you can actually throw down Phoenix and bounce back and forth between both LBs.

Awakening the Echo wasn't dependent on Hydaelyn, it was dependent on seeing something that triggered your latent memories from the original Final Days. Then once you got the Echo, you could hear Hydaelyn, which is why it was always followed by the "Hear... Feel... Think..." line, it's not that she awoke it for you, it's that you finally could hear something she's repeating at all times. And once you hear that, she gives you the Blessing of Light.
But yeah, the other anon is right, this is something they've acfually retconned with time.
