Queue ranked you filthy fricking casuals
Endwalker was like rushed ending, but it's rushed in such a good way that the only drawback is the gap between actual actions (i.e. dungeon) sometimes too long. Shadowbringers by all measure should be a filler or trial stories, but emotionally (characters) it is indeed its own expansion.
>>>/vg/
that ranking is wrong
HALT
only big fat asses are allowed beyond this point
Ganker police are going to need proof you have a big fat ass before i can allow you to post any further
ugly
Nah, Pinklala is cute
I played ARR, Heavensward and Stormblood. They were all 90% filler junk. And the 10% of actual plot wasn't that great either. Every expansion that came out since has followed the same pattern of the fanbase hyping it up to hell and saying it "saved" the game. Then the next one comes out and they admit the previous one wasn't as good. But this latest one totally is 10/10 best writing in any media ever! Funny how it's exactly the same thing talking points I heard about Final Fantasy Tactics and XII back in the day...
Shadowbringers has the most filler out of any of the main parts of the game
>stormblood that high
stormblood's story was shit until the patch stuff leading into shadowbringers
the Tsuyu section of the story is one of the best written sections of the MSQ. touches on SB's themes of surviving war and gives Gosetsu one of the most satisfying endings in the story.
4.1 with Nanamo putting her big girl panties on is also great. Stormblood post msq is also when they started making fantastic trailers
then there's the argument as to whether 4.4 and 4.5 are stormblood or just pre-shadowbringers. and as such, you could have 3.5 counting as stormblood as well
lala thighs are a gift from Hydaelyn
amen, and there truly isn't enough ON-MODEL porn of them. People just draw boring opai e-girls and call it a day.
rip lalamaet
didn't ask
>"Hey, what do we do with Yda and Papalymo?"
"Get rid of both of them, lmao"
>"How?"
"Rewrite one to be a completely different character (ego death) and make the other commit pointless suicide."
Stormblood writing is awful and we all know it
"pointless" is reaching
They had already pulled the typical Final Fantasy "they died saving the hero...oh wait nevermind, they miraculously survived their death and reappeared later" twice by that point. So after you've pulled this stunt twice? The only thing to make it "shocking" is to actually kill them. Also known as the Tomino, aka shit writing.
They've put themselves in a real rough spot, they cannot get rid of the scions in any way shape or form because they've pushed them so hard the playerbase became addicted.
Holy shit fricking range ban this autistic avatar samegay.
I'd rather they rangeban you.
WRONG!
ShB>EW>HW>ARR>SB
Post Patch: ShB>SB Post lyse and HW Dragon stuff > ARR Politics > whatever else is left.
I don't think EW's was terrible but it wasn't really 'good' either. Just fine. Needed refinement and better use of dramatic irony probably.
>ShB>EW>HW>ARR>SB
correct
Why, Square Enix? What would have been so wrong about just putting the glows on the weapon's normal color-scheme? Why was the Amazing step a photo-negative? It ruins some of them! The poor Paladin sword and shield.
because if you like the previous color it still exists, this is simply another option
That don't got no glow though. I wouldn't have minded a blue wing effect on the Paladin shield, or a blue fleur-du-lis--y symbol on the sword. Granted I fricking hate the whorl effect that's on all of the relics, this isn't the first time they've ruined a relic tier with a unifying visual effect to the weapon's own detriment.
What are chances the final relics look horrible? It happened for Stormblood and Shadowbringers
Most of the final relics look really good in my opinion, Eureka/SB is the only big outlier. I think though that they got really up their own ass with the teardop shape on Blade's weapons, and they need to put way more effort into the theme behind these effects, or just do away with it entirely. More Zeta and Lux, less Blade's.
I would kill for a Lux rework with higher quality models
the designs are all great but they're a bit low on the polygon count imo
I honestly liked most of the Blade weapons. The gunblade and axe specifically are my favourites.
Most of the models are mwah, chef kiss. The glows are really hit-and-miss, but when models miss they miss hard. I love the idea they were going for on Blade's Honor with the sword's handguard, palmguard and cross-guard being made up by the glow, then Blade's Fortitude (the shield) just sucks so hard the glow can't save it and the whole relic tanks. Or Blade's Temperance, where the glow is making up most of the actual features of both the rapier and the crystal, so you end up with an ugly matte and an ugly glow. Blade's Resolve is my favorite of the whole lot, they completely understood the assignment making it look like FF8's Lion Heart with the glow effect added (dye it silver or gunmetal black to really bump it up), and the shine coming from the visible bullet casings in the cylinder.
Hopefully that gets addressed with the graphics update! Whether first round in 7.0 or a future one.
There's a mod that makes the Blade weapon glow effects a little bit fancier, which I'm rather fond of.
Weapons and armour has been getting progressively better and fancier since Shadowbringers, so I'd say these relics should be fine.
We still haven't seen the "funny" winenrs of the weapon design contest and I fear final Manderville step is what they're going to be used for.
I like some of them but I want relics to be the cool weapons, not the jokes.
Didn't they say at some point that the funny weapons were NOT the relics?
Wouldn't be the first time they outright lied or used intentionally misleading wording.
>We only meant to say that the funny weapons wouldn't be the first relic step
>when the joke weapons are better than the actual winner
More content to do at level 25 WoW season of discovery than FFXIV right now lol
>WoW gay in FFXIV thread
Anon, no one cares what you play, go play WoW if you want we're happy with our catgirls and Elezen dicky here.
Thats a tendie
I saw one of those tendie threads the other day, they're still pissed pissed that Square went to PlayStation/ Sony with FF and not Nintendo. STILL, to this fricking day.
your screenshot doesn't support what you're saying
go away, console warrior, this is a FFXIV thread
I can't believe you just said that, outing yourself as the Tendie.
Was I right?
In the way that a clock strikes 12 sometimes. NA and EU fanfests always suck.
They gave us about what we expected, I'd say the graphical update news was nice.
>new xpac
>think we might get a whole new cast
>it's just the scions again
I would have liked the B-list Scions to get some time in the sun.
Anyone new would just fill the exact same slots the Scions are in.
I honestly would have liked it if the games story remained the cheesy Scions fighting the Mighty Morphan Magitek Rangers. No, it wasn't well written. But it was silly and not serious. Like Final Fantasy III or V. But like with most later FF games, they felt like they needed to pile on the melodrama. In this case, copying Game of Thrones/Final Fantasy IV.
And people were surprised when FFXVI turned out the way it did? They literally advertised it was the same writers and director who did Heavensward. Anyone with two brain cells could see this coming.
I still think we're getting the grandpa squad.
Barring Dynamis and summoning friends to help in a fight whose the strongest in XIV? How would an Unsundered stand up to a dragon like Midgarsormr?
Still WoL
The average unsundered is great at magic but may or may not be any stronger than most normal people depending on magical ability and general moronation, Ericthonios is a special case engineered to have little or no magical prowess but he had to transform into an idealized version of himself that was a martial power to be any threat to anyone
All the Convocation members are outliers among the Unsundered in power and magical prowess
Normie Unsundered see monsters and run or fricking kill themselves and make a monster of their own to fight it as seen in Akademia Anyder
Actually it's pretty crazy how the Unsundered bounce around between being godly supermen and being paper tiger basket-cases, it's hard to try and do any DBZ forum speculation on their POWAH LEVELZ since most of them aren't capable or willing to use their power at all, all we know for 100% sure is they were a mage society and it takes some disgustingly large amount of aether to make up just one unsundered Ancient soul
Alexander. He's the only true deity in the setting.
Here's your Duty Finder group.
Have you anons found your waifu in game yet?
I did then I fricked it up
I did but she's already married and lives in Poland
Did you get some lewd newds?
I have
I don't know how to feel love to anyone and i don't want to scare them off
Was there any content in Endwalker that was objectively a success by most peoples standards? Honestly feels like every piece of content so far has some major issues and almost no lasting staying power this expansion
The ultimates were incredible, for the first time they actually filtered high end raiders and on top of that were visually appealing.
Ultimates were unironically too hard and reached a point of just being unfun to do.
People were claiming Endwalker was the best thing ever when it was new. But they do that for every new expansion.
Variant/Criterion dungeons have been a success in terms of their base difficulty. It's the harder difficulties that only just now got a tomestone weapon upgrade reward (that, mind you, already require you've upgraded the tomestone weapons through Savage play, and are going to be matched and exceeded by freebie Manderville relics in just a couple weeks) that are wildly unpopular and have no real reward scheme.
Criterion needs to be easier and Savage needs to be at it's current difficulty but come with mechanical differences instead of a no-death clause time limited run.
What, you don't like stack/spread/protean with ten bodycheck debuffs that instantly wipe the raid?
Criterion Savage anon, 4 man content.
Everything pre 6.1 included.
Trial fights were fun, I think they are completely underrated because they're not the hardest of the hard but I really enjoyed doing them on Normal and Extreme, music was fricking amazing and got me hyped up.
For me they were far better than the Savage fights were you're really having to sweat it out, with the Trials I could just relax more and enjoy them.
>music was amazing
shame they were all remixes of Four Fiends
Shame? Not sure what you're on about lad, that's why I enjoyed it so much. Complete FFiv nostalgia trip.
Hey, all I'm saying is I prefer Warring Triad and Four Lords to Weapons and Four Fiends
That's fair, we all like what we like.
hyadain jumpscare
base Variant, adventure plates and debatably PvP rework
which is really fricking grim when you think about it
Meeting Hydaelyn face to face should have been a solo instance
Nah, we need more trials with the scions
I agree I just don't think the Hydaelyn fight should have been one of them
its literally the only MSQ trial that makes sense for the scions to be present. you could tweak endsinger but its pretty well established she is beyond them
I love femlalas
G'raha should've died in 5.3, bringing him back has been nothing but awful.
I just like the music, world design and the lalas. But the story is the worst part of the game. Literally hundreds of hours of filler dialogue. Like Bravely Default if it was extended 10x longer.
I would kill for a single player game set in the world of FFXIV. And the main character is a lala. Both because it would be cute, but also to see the absolute meltdown of the western FF fans when the main character is not the usual Nomura pretty boy.
But mostly I want a single player game because the MMO crap is the thing dragging FFXIV down. If it was a single player game about exploring the world, grinding jobs, gaining one teammate for each race and fighting the Empire, it would have been amazing.
6.1 was the only good patch this expansion with adventurer plates, new pvp, only good alliance raid, and an ultimate as content. everything else for all the other patches has been shit
>6. "Generals"—long-term, recurring threads about a specific game—should be posted in /vg/. This is not to say threads about specific games cannot be created on Ganker, just that long-term, recurring threads belong in /vg/.
I'm just having such a hard time getting excited for anything in this game. I fricking love XIV but the entire predictable formula for the game is really killing motivation. I can't help but feel like I just know everything that will happen in Dawntrail despite knowing nothing about it at the same time.
ok so what happens
The WoL impregnates Alisaie and Y'shtola. If it's a femWoL Emet appears and gives them a futa wiener for a few hours.
Tokyo fanfest on the 7th of January, I get you because there's been a lot of dooming but for me it hasn't been a better time to play the game, been playing with my brother getting him through the msq and it's so fun watching him go from a moronic Lancer into floor tank, and finally starting to learn how the class works and him getting invested in the story.
Maybe I'm getting old but I like it being predictable and formulaic, especially when you see EW patch series and them abandoning one content type that worked for two that didn't same as WoW has been doing in a downward slope for 10 years.
Stick to what works, don't try to reinvent the wheel, maintain a steady content schedule. Unfortunately they've been not sticking to what works and not been keeping the same two year cycle schedule as before.
Meanwhile WoW is shifting gears with defined road maps and a 20 month content cycle. FFXIV will get into trouble if they keep the EW 4 month patch schedule over a 30 month cycle.
That's why we're all pretty hyped for the Tokyo fanfest, it's their LAST chance to blow our fricking socks off with reveals. It's at Tokyo stadium in front of a crowd of 30k so they cannot, I repeat CANNOT talk about Lalafell cheeks for ten minutes, they have to reveal things that'll make us say
>"Now that's the dogs Bollocks!"
I guarantee they won't have had enough time to react to Blizzard's announcements. Yoshida's influence on corporate level might have taken a dip after FFXVI's sales and it's doubtful an already strained CBU3 would get the resources needed to vastly increase productivity on FFXIV over the next 3 years.
Corporate will say "just add more cash shop items" because that's where the money comes from and order CBU3 to shift existing resources to the new AAA project using the Radec engine after Dawntrail 7.0 and the FFXVI DLC are finished.
>He thinks all FFXVI is finished with
Have you not read the latest famitsu interview with Yoship?
I have, and it's pretty clear that FFXVI is done for the time being once the skeleton DLC crew finishes the second DLC.
Takai has been back on FFXIV as co-director since before FFXVI launched. Ishikawa takes an editor's role on FFXIV because she's working on pre-development on the new AAA project.
That new AAA project will be in pe-development with a small core dev team while most of the FFXVI team helps finish Dawntrail, same as they helped finish Endwalker to prevent further delays (which in turn delayed FFXVI).
Despite successes and a LOT of hiring, CBU3 still doesn't have similar resources to CBU1, and it's clear they're overstretched trying to maintain both FFXIV and an AAA single-player game.
> CBU3 still doesn't have similar resources to CBU1
Imagine that $100million they dropped into Forspoken was spent on ffxiv.
Their insistence to reset the release schedule for expansions back to Summer is a massive fricking risk they are taking and you already see the results of it in game right now. It has been over 2 years since Endwalker launched, we should be playing Dawntrail right now but instead have to wait an additional 7 or so months. In fact, Dawntrail is going to take LONGER to release than Endwalker did, even with the covid delay. The 4 month patch cycle really did hurt in the long run despite it "only" being 2 extra weeks per patch in theory, it never felt that way in practice.
I'm guessing they either don't care about keeping the WoWfugees around or they made the grave mistake of assuming they're going to remain loyal to them after the big show the WoWgays made to spite their ex.
As I said it's all down to resources, and when the larger company is led by CFO's who still believe NFTs are the future...
FFXIV bring in good money, but mobile brings in still more, and these people + the shareholders themselves generally don't know jack shit about videogames. They'll only react once profits start falling, and more often than not it means putting projects into maintenance mode to focus on the new trend rather than revitalizing.
You can count on Square Enix to make the most moronic decision possible.
Square Enix are fundamentally a Japanese company and they still see the domestic audience as their priority and always will. So they don't really give a shit about pandering to foreigners, it's something YoshiP has been fighting the entire time he's been the Producer of FFXIV. They've become better over the years, but FFXIV and SE will never be anything other than what it has always been. It'll continue being a huge game but it won't be what WoWugees want it to be, which is WoW but without Blizzard.
>Square Enix are fundamentally a Japanese company and they still see the domestic audience as their priority and always will. So they don't really give a shit about pandering to foreigners,
Pandering to western audiences to try and become the Japanese EA/Activision is what SE has been trying to do (and failing) for the past 20 years.
That's one game, you need to check their entire library of releases for the past 5 years. They're still a very Japanese company.
It's one game that cost more than double of the production costs of all their Variant Daylife, Triangle Strategy, Valkyrie Elysium etc titles combined.
Same with their flopped Babylon's Fall trying to ape the live service market. Even FFXIV is western pandering as it shifts to ape WoW at its height rather than FF XI.
Kinda insane that blizzard is able to release two expansions in 20 months while square can barely work on one in 30+ months
Blizzard wholesale bought multiple other studios (Vicarious Visions, Proletariat) to near double the Warcraft team's size over the past two years.
One of the best things they could do for the Tokyo fanfest is to give us the benchmark trailer as a surprise.
Dawntrail won't be out until June at earliest, we won't see the Benchmark until April along with a media tour.
I'm predicting July myself. generally there's a six month gap between the last Fanfest and the expansion launch so that'd be about right.

However the only focus here are Lalafell players who use NSFW mods and promote sexualization of Lalafells. I think potates are cute and funny meme machines, but when people start sexualizing them. It is no longer a sitation I will ever see as appropriet or acceptable.
