If it helps you choose thematically, playing as PLD has no significance at all whatsoever in EW the way some of the other jobs might have had some in other expansions, other than maybe PLD also being Hydaelyn's job, who you could consider your mentor character.
But other than that, yeah, G'raha fricking steals your cutscene PLD moments. Even worse, he casts PLD protection stuff on you like you're too fragile to tank without his help.

That excuse really doesn't work for this when we did get the Lyse sparring scene. And no other expansion has an npc straight up just steal the animations from the trailer that WoL was doing. I get that they couldn't have implemented the cutscene with WoL because it hinges on WoL having a shield and the player might not be playing PLD, but then just don't shove it in. They managed to find a way to add DRK's cool trailer moment into the game by turning it into an actual skill. Could have just given PLD a skill later down the line that's a dash to friendly targets.

Holy newbie. Blizzard has been doing this shit for more than a decade, especially when it came to post-patch releases.
It's why every other MMO and their players hate WoW with a passion because they deliberatly release patches and expansions the same week, sometimes day as a competitor to crush competition.
They tried it with Shadowbringers and Endwalker too and it didn't work, and are doing it with Dawntrial it won't work either. Look at how bloated that roadmap is when all you need is one good expansion.
I play WoW and i can say: No one gives two shits about Retail or Cata.
The only part of WoW that get's any hype is a 20 years old version of the game, before modern blizzard fricked it up.
But for some reason, beyond my understanding, the best thing that blizzard can do with it is copying the content of private servers and addons made by the community.

Geirskogul timer-maxxing in Heavensward was pretty unpleasant in my opinion, and there aren't any Dragoon-y moments in the actual story, just some dialogue and Estinien already knowing who you are going into Ishgard. Way I always understood it, most life in the Source (and the other shards) is actually not sundered, it's the life that popped up after the Sundering. All the ancients and their contemporaries keep reincarnating, but to this pool of souls, you add more souls regularly being born, and those were the ones that the ancients were gonna sacrifice to bring back their own from Zodiark. Which would also explain why most people can't awaken the Echo, because their souls never had a past life where they had one. And it's also why the ascians' plan of rejoining was also so bad, because most people wouldn't even actually rejoin as they have no shards.

I would argue that it doesn't actually necessarily mean Amaurot was etched onto their souls and they could have been from anywhere else or anything else on the planet but the Ancients' perception of the Final Days is so Amaurot-centric (since they sat around on their fricking asses for the apocalypse to come to them instead of helping anyone or anything else) that there's no other viewpoint given. Y'shtola could have been some coeurl concept when Amaurot was alive for all we know

The void is done with, if they had plans to use it in the future they wouldn't have blocked off the role questline group and shoehorned in Zero out of the blue.
Dawntrail will be just like Stormblood and EW with 2 regions. 1 is the New World, the other is Meracydia. Meracydia is heavily steeped in Dragons, Allagan and the Void. The Thirteenth story for post EW was established so we have people(Zero and Golbez) on the inside to already help with the story.

The void patch series was done to CLOSE OFF THE VOID and not to set it up for future content. We already knew two people who were a thousand times more important to the 13th than Zero and one who was literally setup for the role Zero played and would have been a mirror image of Golbez. The entire role questline series set us up to have a whole crew to explore the void with.

I'm curious about the elephant they let into the room, the giant chasm seemingly cutting off north from south. It's present on the world map and the city concept art has a massive bridge aiming off in that direction while all of their ingame shots have coincidentally aimed themselves away from where the chasm would be so we cannot see it.

It's only dumb if you think the soul is an incorruptible identity that goes above and beyond the body and mind in FFXIV which it most definitely is not, all a soul is in FFXIV is a lump of aether with a unique identity printed onto it. The echo has never been fully explained to begin with. It's probably some sort of ability to resonate your aether with other aetherically based beings that lets you fuse/understand them.

It wasn't perfect, it was clearly unfinished and the story (only partly) because of that was a mess, but it's exactly the style of content the game NEEDS to have, something you can do at any time at any pace with large amounts of people or by yourself.

To be fair XIV doesn't use or teach you a lot of it's commands, XI on the other hand basically required you at all times to know how to use them so it's understandable that no one really knows what they do.
I just finished Stormblood and I've only used commands for emotes and pet glamours

he's begging for you to use /pos or hold ctrl and right-click where you are on the map to set a flag there that you can enter into chat, which in fairness is the only reliable way to actually give a position
RDM is a dickhead, but this will be your crash-course in properly asking for a res in open worldy stuff
the command gives people a link to click on that will show them a flag on the map, makes everything easier, but yes generally people in eureka aren't very smart and will aggro and train mobs around like morons

It's early, they only made the announcements at that blizzcon. But the fact is that over the past year and a half WoW has had a tighter content schedule than FFXIV, which is now entering a 5-6 month drought until Dawntrail.
People will start moving back to WoW again if they maintain a 4 month patch schedule over two and a half years.

Bozja is a zone you simply go in to, there are always masses of people there. What you might be thinking of is Delubrum Reginae, which itself has slow queue protection and enhanced echo so no one ever has to wait for a queue.

Pricing aside, content quantity and frequency is what matters most here, asd that's what EW patch series' main problem has been.
If the game doesn't offer enough content players will move to the game that does. FFXIV had years worth of backlog content to offer to WoWfugees, but when caught up to endgame and current patch there's no denying WoW has over the past year started offering more content with shorter droughts while FFXIV has slowed to a 4 month crawl with the core content being done every patch in 4-5 hours.

At this point you're only reinforcing the cultist meme. I fricking love FFXIV and it's the stronger game when it comes to narrative, music and respecting player time/QoL, but if you don't see they're going to run into trouble with their current content schedule given the competition then you're blind.
And competition breeds excellence. FFXIV only became what it is because of the example of WoW at its height, and Blizzard's arrogance became its downfall. If Blizzard is shifting gears and throwing resources at it again, FFXIV can't afford to be arrogant in turn or history will repeat itself.
