I'm not finished with the book but nothing in the Ronkan history segment hints at that. Basically they were the first to figure out magic so they conquered a shitload of people. But because they gave every citizen an education, their enemies eventually got easy access to that magical knowledge. Their borders were chipped away until they were surrounded by hostile nations who came knocking on their door and wiped them out.
Actually, adding onto this, they label the Tempest as being farther west in the Indigo Deep and not immediately off the coast of Kholusia like the game suggested. Which would indicate that Amaurot was off the coast of Tural.

I actually love this trope. It's part of the reason I like FFIII and V. The problem with FFXIV is, they don't explore it. It's just a random plot point. Like in Heavensward, you spend 100 hours doing fetch quests in the snow and floating islands. Then like 5 hours before the end of the expansion, they suddenly introduce a floating continent with ancient technology and go "oh yeah, and all this stuff is tangentially related to everything you've been doing because *beep beep* [file corrupted]"

Literally put in a mechanic where the technology conveniently was erased/corrupted in the parts that were going to explain something, so they could fill it in later. This wouldn't be so bad if it was a self contained game. But you're kind of looking for some justification for the 100+ hours of fetch quests/empty grinding you've been doing up to that time. Having to wait until EW to finally get an explanation for stuff in HW is pretty shit.

We always knew Amon built it and that it was a testing ground for Dalamud and Ultima Weapon prototypes. Midgardsormr was not involved in the Meracydian Campaign, and neither were Hraesvelgr, Nidhogg, or Ratatoskr. You'll also notice that never once throughout the HW story are Azys Lla and the Meracydian Campaign ever alluded to until Thordan starts heading there. Because they have nothing to do with the events of the story, which are about a cycle of revenge stemming from a specific event which was unrelated to Allag.

SGE is 40x better designed than SCH, the only strength of SCH is Chain Strat. Otherwise, SGE is the superior healer in terms of actual healing and job design.
Expedient is great, but also they nerfed the useful side of it. I don't hate SCH, but it still suffers from the pet DNA baked into it from 2.0. SMN, too, despite the casualized rework, but SCH is affected much more from how the fairy functions and you lose some skills if Seraph is out or how the design punishes you for not using your healing buttons on ED instead. There's probably a way to keep ED minmax without it affecting your other skills, but I doubt they'll ever work it out.

SCH needs a rework just as badly as AST, even more now that SGE is almost a carbon copy of SCH. I just want HW SCH back, the problem people had with healers was Cleric Stance and how punishing it was if you fricked up, not the DPS rotations themselves.

SE takes too fricking long with all this. When DT releases I'm not touching this game until 7.5 is out. There's no point in staying current nor subbed anytime in-between. Ultimate's can be done at anytime along with Savage floors.

One of the reasons Lalafells stand out is they look cute dolls (or creepy dolls when they show their toothy smiles). While the models of all the other races look like uncanney barbie dolls. If they made e-girl versions of the other races, they'd likely just look like their adult forms with smaller proportions. Which would look freaky as hell.

The only issue with the e-girl models ingame now are the ones that recycle male midlander gear, which would obviously not be an issue if there was existing gear for e-girl characters anyway as there would be if they were a default option.

They don't even really need their own body models. Just using the midlander body with parts scaled up/down like every other race works.
The e-girl mod for XIV is mainly just a head replacer/upscale and an edit to weights on the female midlander body parts (slimmer arms/legs/body, smaller shoulders, etc.) and it looks as good as any other race.

There's plenty of classes that are fun. What's not fun is the repetitive content you're doing. And how you have to argue which classes are "the best" when you can still beat everything with the "worst" classes. In short, it's the MMO and competitive aspects that ruin FFXIV (and all online games).

It was nice to go back to see it all when doing Big Fish, then when I finished the Zodiac Zetas. But now I don't think there's any content I'm doing that'll bring me back to the zones, aside from hunts.
I love it so much, I've played since 1.0 launch and the ARR launch was something special.

I actually love this trope. It's part of the reason I like FFIII and V. The problem with FFXIV is, they don't explore it. It's just a random plot point. Like in Heavensward, you spend 100 hours doing fetch quests in the snow and floating islands. Then like 5 hours before the end of the expansion, they suddenly introduce a floating continent with ancient technology and go "oh yeah, and all this stuff is tangentially related to everything you've been doing because *beep beep* [file corrupted]"

Having to wait until EW to finally get an explanation for stuff in HW is pretty shit.

SMN, too, despite the casualized rework, but SCH is affected much more from how the fairy functions and you lose some skills if Seraph is out or how the design punishes you for not using your healing buttons on ED instead. There's probably a way to keep ED minmax without it affecting your other skills, but I doubt they'll ever work it out.

TK rotation wasn't really that autistic you just needed low ping. It was pretty smooth and intuitive and felt really good to execute especially when you hit those big 75k tornado kicks.

It doesn't matter having e-girl options when they'll be just as ugly as the adult models. One of the reasons Lalafells stand out is they look cute dolls (or creepy dolls when they show their toothy smiles). While the models of all the other races look like uncanney barbie dolls. If they made e-girl versions of the other races, they'd likely just look like their adult forms with smaller proportions. Which would look freaky as hell.

The only issue with the e-girl models ingame now are the ones that recycle male midlander gear, which would obviously not be an issue if there was existing gear for e-girl characters anyway as there would be if they were a default option.
Every e-girl character with proper gear looks great, see the Azim Steppe, autism bubble, Khloe & T'kebbe, and Riqi-Tio.

They don't even really need their own body models. Just using the midlander body with parts scaled up/down like every other race works.
The e-girl mod for XIV is mainly just a head replacer/upscale and an edit to weights on the female midlander body parts (slimmer arms/legs/body, smaller shoulders, etc.) and it looks as good as any other race.
There's plenty of adult models that look good too. But they're NPCs with options you can use with the playable character. That's the point. If they made e-girl models, you'd have the same problem. Square could obviously fix this. But they won't.

Because HW relic grinds at least had various ways to complete them including many you would do passively. Plus every step was different. There was only one step that was pure tome grind (umbrites). Now it's just "pay 1.5k uncapped tomes for a free weapon"
