You should pay attention to Yoshida's wording when he addresses these kind of questions. This is the first time he's actually said they're "working" on it. From the other questions and answers it seems it's currently being worked on, same as the increased furniture count, while inventory space, glam plate count and additional character customization are on the backlog.
All of these are connected to their spaghetti character data architecture and the server load impact of implementing them, so they get handled in a bandaid/piecemeal way as they work on that backend. JP datacenter hardware is being replaced next week and they've done cloud hosting stress tests so it does seem like they've found a way to reduce the impact of some of the much requested features.

This is all basic lore from well before Y'shtola went blind.

Correct. This is more of a graphics overhaul thing than a new race thing. I think Heavensward gave them out because at the time only legacy players were given a free one prior. One was added to the Ultima Weapon quest later. There were no free fantas in either Shadowbringers or Endwalker despite new race/gender options appearing in both.

Genshin is an insane money dump for them, they've invested several AAA games worth of money into the game in just a few years. Obviously it's good when the game is growing, but once it hits a downturn that huge constant investment is going to be a big risk.

A lot of XIV's problems isn't just a lack of funding but a lack of actual manpower to do the work. They've spent years practically begging people every single live letter to apply for jobs because they need more warm bodies to do the work. Even with more funding that problem wouldn't necessarily be solved. Not that I'm saying the current way the game's profits get syphoned off and shoveled into the vanity project money pit are good mind.

The issue is FFXIV doesn't exist in a vacuum and will always be compared to WoW, and WoW is switching to a 20 month content cycle with higher patch frequency while FFXIV seems to keep at EW's 30+ month cycle with 4 month patches, and nearly nothing during the 6-7 month drought.
I'll shit on WoW hard for a gazillion other reasons, but competition breeds excellence and FFXIV will need to shift gears too to keep up, because Endwalker's patch series content schedule was just too fricking slow.

the easiest guess would be one of the jobs they're revamping. dragoon or astrologian. AST plays fine, but its job identity is kind of schizofrenic. 'white mage but lots of weaving' feels incomplete to me.
dragoon is functional but it is kinda janky and is really the only class that doesn't work with their 2 minute meta as it is now. its also weavy as frick which is strange since its a slow hard hitting class
