I'm able to understand both jap and english so I'm going to tell you right now that unless you like the JP script more you are an utter moron with extremely shit taste (doubly so if you can't actually understand what the characters are saying). JP voice acting swings wildly between being overly dramatic and almost robotic in tone, their variety in "accent" is also very noticeable since XIV is supposed to take place all across its planet with wildly different languages and sometimes cultures, the writers even bothered giving players an explanation on why we can understand every spoken and even acted language so it is very obviously a choice which the JP team has been unable to fully utilise for a decade now.
Don't get me wrong, the EN dub and script have some massive problems but at least it's able to stay true to one of the core concepts of the story regardless of how shitty the acting and writing can be at times

Pretty much the entirety of ARR, the voice acting swung between shit and decent (which is why all of the actors were replaced) and even though the script was decent, there were too many things that were needlessly changed with the most obvious example of turning haurchefant into a stereotypical gay

The only reason the replacement happened was because the parent company of the California-based recording studio went bankrupt, the subsidiary's assets were dissolved, and if SE wanted to keep the ARR voices they would have had to individually renegotiate contracts with every single voice actor. This occurred at the exact same time as the North American VA union was in negotiations for a new Interactive Media Agreement and threatening with strikes (which eventually did occur in 2016-2017), so SE engaged Side UK instead for HW.

Vrtra uses a mix of telepathy and his native language (with the help of the players echo to translate it) to communicate in his normal body like every other dragon in XIV. It isn't that weird that he picked up his accent when using an alien body while speaking an alien language, his own body might not even be able to physically replicate Thavnairs native language so he has to learn how to speak it with trial'n'error along with magic. It's like if your english teacher were spanish, you'll subconsciously pick up on their mannerisms and replicate them since that is how every human learns how to speak

Their botched backend architecture on the rushed ARR reboot is the source of the majority of the game's current issues and the big hurdle in implementing any new features as well. Character creation options could be vastly expanded, glamour could be changed into a WoW style transmog system, inventory and furniture counts wouldn't have to be so limited. Snapshotting could be done away with, more fluid input reaction, opening up a host of new possible mechanics in a game that feels severely limited in that regard.
If he can get another ARR technical release greenlit that would go a long way to improving the game and keeping it viable for the next decade. But I honestly doubt he'll get the resources for it.
I've seen what they seem to think of as "better" so I'm not thrilled. If DT doesn't at least show signs of course-correction, it's getting dropped.

I think SE needs to focus on making players feel important again. I was thinking just now why Endwalker feels so awful to play and it dawned on me that it’s because the game design is so bland I don’t feel like I or anyone matters anymore. It’s completely nihilistic and stale gameplay.
I am talking about normal content. As most of the game is normal content. For example our tank disconnected in Aerherfont, an expert dungeon and I tanked it as BLM while a very poorly geared SCH kept me alive. How poorly geared? Well he hasn’t played since he finished EW and only bought enough pieces in the market board to get his ilvl high enough. Did not meld them either.
So… people don’t needs tanks, they don’t need healers, and they sure don’t need DPS, then all we have is depression as a player. You don’t make a difference. Not really. And this is sad.
I know most of these elements were implemented because people felt too much pressure as a healer or tank, or didn’t want to fail or whatever. They tried to make it so people feel safe. But safety isn’t fun. By doing this the developers also took away the chance for players to shine and pull through. For people to notice and recognize who’s good at their job. None of this exists now. Everyone is indifferent to everyone.
In a quest to avoid conflict in their game at all costs they did not create happiness or success. They created silence and indifference. Before, in dungeons like the burn sure if a player wasn’t able to clear after several wipes people would get mad, or at orbonne monastery, but they also knew joy when things were completed. This is because people recognized that things took effort and well… they made a difference. People were important.

This was a problem in ShB aswell but not nearly to the same extent. It also wouldn't be a problem if every job was designed around the idea of being able to (poorly at worst, okay'ish at best) cover multiple roles if absolutely needed, a design concept that the game has been moving away from since HW.
I hope that the devs saw the reaction to the body snatch quest and the massive amount of players saying that they feel dissatisfied with the gameplay elements of the game as a wake up call that tells them that it's impossible to lower the standards to the point where everyone is able to exceed without turning the game into a literal movie and even then they will never be able to dumb the story down to the point where everyone will understand. Trying to do so will just end up killing the game just like only listening to the omega-autists that live fflogs will also end up killing the game

what you describe has always been the case with normal content, it has never been hard beyond like Orbonne and that wasn't hard it was just players refusing to do mechanics.
FFXIV is a casual mmo for casual people, it's how it has managed to get so big, if you want it to be hard do the harder content or just play another game.
Not really, enemy design was simpler but job design was more complex, not in the form of individual performance for each job but instead how they all fit together. It has been said in other threads before and I'm going to repeat it, the devs have traded job complexity for encounter complexity which means that the simpler jobs become, the harder "content" becomes, this makes it possible for devs to develop very strict, tight and well defined rules/requirements for content on the higher end of the difficulty curve but at the same time they have completely lost the ability to regulate the lower end of the difficulty curve since every additional mechanic exponentially increases the hurdle that newer and bad players have to jump over.
The above wouldn't be a problem if better players were given more agency over their individual performance in low end content since that way good players could find their own fun in content that is simply designed to be too easy for them hile allowing bad players to just barely scrape by or even be carried by the better players to some extent. This creates it's own problems since players who have a hard time regulating their behaviour and standards around others will become more agitated and toxic around players who don't "get" it while bad players becomes more of a burden on a "good" run rather then a net-neutral.
It's a tricky thing to balance but the devs have obviously let too much of the standard gameplay model (or gameplay loop if you prefer) stagnate and simplify in order to make their jobs easier at both the high end and the lowest of low end in terms of content creation and balancing

As long as they keep adding new jobs we'll never have the job complexity that HW had. There are too many to balance so they simplified them for that reason

SE is analogous to the Nibirun, in their quest to rid the game of any challenge, risk and player choice they've created a "perfect" game that is utterly devoid of meaning, purpose, fun. The game has been effectively solved on every level. It is no longer a game at this point. You log in and you are handed everythigng you could possibly need with little to no effort.
Playing modern FFXIV makes you feel like the Nibirun felt before they created Ra'La to finally unsubscribe themselves from life.
Moments like that happen still, like with PLD when your healer dies you have to contintue to support the group with clemeny spam weaved strategically through your actual tanking rotation to keep the group alive (if it's a dungeon) or in a raid you can offheal the other tank in that same situation. Those moments are kino, yet morons have been clamouring for SE to remove Clemency.
Part of the problem is the community itself wants to remove those moments of glory (as Preach put it) so everyone can just play the fricking same. Same community is also pushing for healers to be completely turned into green dps, arguing against more healing needing to be done. Why? Real reason for all of it is just for the sake of parsehomosexualry. It all boils down to getting rid of as much unique utility abilities (like clemency, or RDM raise) and job identity so everyone plays the same and can all parse orange equally.
Parsegays are source of all this game's problems. Yoshi needs to tell parsegays to get bent once and for all and just ignore them until they unsub and frick off or else this will only get worse.

Why do you view how characters react to things from the perspective of yourself, the viewer? Do you think they were all mentally going oh hunky dory everything will be just fine? They were probably all fricking terrified sacrificing themselves. They actively broke down in tears each time a person sacrificed themselves. The scions do not have the benefit of being a third party viewer to their tale. Just because it worked out doesn't make it any less terrifying for that character to experience.

Blue can solo sync that content. Basic instinct, healer spec, tons of oGCD's, instakills, DOTS, status effects, they don't NEED a party. BLU is factually the strongest class in the game when it comes to solo clearing content. It operates the same as it does in every single FF game. It seems largely useless, but you get the right spells, and the game becomes utterly fricking broken, and you can go up against shit you should not have any business surviving and stand a fair chance.
As someone who plays BLU whenever they get a chance, there is no reason it shouldn't be at 90. There literally isn't. It doesn't count for certain things ANYWAY, it doesn't count for MSQ clears, It doesn't count for mainline clears as it has it's own journal it tracks, and it's only factual use is making FATES not a PITA. That's it. That's all it does. It does nothing else. Just make it 90 already, it'll be fine, trust me.

there should be more overlap between SMN/SCH, not less. going from a level 30 ACN to a level 30 SCH and losing your AoE and Aetherflow (only to gain a shittier version of the ability later) sucks.
We HAD more overlap in previous expansions and it was horrible for Summoner and excellent for Scholar.

They have Rhapsodies of Vana'diel now which does guide you through the expansions. It's generally more convenient to play today than back then.

You can fill your party with NPC trusts for most roles and solo most content except the current endgame. Your job choice might give you some trouble on some of the very late expansion bosses but it's not a big deal. There's also way more useful guides available now to help you figure out what to do.

Its really not. The story is nonsensical at this point and there isn't much to do except grind reputations for your thousandth mount. Raiding, even low level raiding, feels like wiener and ball torture unless you have 10+ friends that you know arn't moronic. Also extremely israeli, you have to pay for the game, its most recent expansion, and a subscription. On top of that, it has a cash shop with cosmetics, purchasable gold and a secondary currency, and you better believe there is a battle pass around the corner. Seriously, dont play WoW, its a sinking ship, even its art direction which used to carry the game is going down the shitter. I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from getting invested in this game.

I did mine by crafting for like 12 hours a day on Balmung, but I was a NEET at the time and the FOMO hit me bad in season 1. It cost so much gil and time and wasn't really worth it. I just use the Eureka Orthos solo title even if it was easy to get because it's cooler and doesn't make me think about trauma.

Funny thing is, Big Fish is one that's really annoying to bot, especially the end of expansion legendary fish, because of the intuition and careful handling to maximize the casts.
Like for sea butterfly if I managed the GP well, I could get 3 intuition attempts per window.
And I did Big Fish on two chars. The only thing you could bot is the ones that spawn by time, cause Forager can handle that one no problem. But when it's weather change + time, it tries too early and wastes casts and GP.

As for the Omega and Eden Title's it's different because those fights have to be treated as an actual static going into a new savage tier. Mostly because the BLU community is full of a lot of people that are completely new to raiding (not just savage) in general, so it can become miserable waiting for someone to understand how to move out of bad orange AOE 90% of the time. So I can kinda get the circle jerk part there.
Also finding 7other people who leveled up and got spells to actually do the fights is a difficult task in and of itself

I really got into it when sidequests were first released. I actually catalogued them on the official forums. Prior to that I was just doing the seasonal events and slowly doing some leveling. The first week I just ran around every field, sneaking past every 70+ mob to unlock every aetherial node in each map. This would later unlock "The Wanderer's Shadow" title achievement
But once the beast tribes came out, everyone was powerleveling at Natalan to get every class to 50. Then I started getting really into doing things towards prep towards ARR.

The only thing I didn't truly "finish" in 1.0 was the Relic questline and some achievements, like the chocobo escort achievements for speedrunning them, because I didn't invest much time into it. Only did the initial part where you get the tokens from the beast tribe tower defense hamlet things. But I did make a push to beat Darnus Hard back then, got a party setup and made guides and everything.
It's funny when I remember someone who didn't like me, he had his VOD on Twitch of his clear that I used as a reference. When I told him I used it to help me clear, he deleted it out of spite so nobody else could use it. He unironically wanted to gatekeep more people clearing, even though it was the day before the final save.

This game has not done that for two expansions in a row. The closest it's come is reworking a few old dungeons and the lv. 50 Rhitatyn to Gaius stretch, and even that might or might not be a result of some high-profile streamers whining about it since players have been whining about what a joke that leg of the game is for a decade. If anything the developers are notorious for ignoring the players and it usually works out much better when they do, but they're also capable of putting out some real stinkers as a result.
All they have to do is be more strict with ilvl syncing its that fricking simple, the moment you are geared above a dungeon the balance goes to shit and it becomes a boring chore rather than actual content. Back when they were first messing about with the ilvl syncing after the stat squish content was actually a challenge again but people whined and so they made it a steamroll again where you can netflix everything. There is literally streamers working on the mentor title who stream with a movie or anime series on their other monitor.

Variant is the "easy" mode. You just need the base gear requirement and to do the fights a few times to understand the mechanics.
Don't forget to try and pay attention to the different routes.
They tested all of their ilvl syncing on the extremes so they know exactly what makes a challenging fight yet they don't want to apply it to the basic dungeons.... they could shit out 30 criterion level dungeons in one afternoon but refuse to do so, just quit this shit game and be done with it.
