Some people just aren't narratively literate. I understand you can enjoy the MSQ without thinking too much about the retcons and plot holes and just enjoy the flashy emotional moments on a surface level. But people who actually do respect and keep true to the rules of the world building and are versed in good strorytelling methods have the sense to know when pacing and inconsistencies are taking place in the story. We aren't dazzled and distracted by fanservice and the jangling of keys for streamers to basedface at.
You don't get to tell us how we should enjoy the game's writing, nor do you get to tell us it's actually fine as much as a casual single puller in expert roulette gets to dictate how Ultimate Raid mechanics should be designed.
You really got to work using that pasta anon.

I honestly don't even care if the pro-Zodiark side was a majority or not.
The fact that a bunch of very accomplished Amaurotines supporter her counts for something. The guy Thaliak was based on was the headmaster of Akadaemia Anyder, afaik, and Halone was a candidate for the seat of Pashtarot.
supported*
The Zodiark side also had accomplished people, just by virtue of them being the Convocation. Personally I don't think who supported which side really matters for anything. A hero is supposed to do what they believe is right even if the entire world is telling them to stop.
>The Zodiark side also had accomplished people, just by virtue of them being the Convocation.
Of course, but that was the baseline assumption.
Whereas the Hydaelyn faction was passed off as "Venat and 12 random kooks."
How is that not a human?

Did you even pay attention to the story? She didn't do it for that reason
She was based.

Anybody else think that the part in the trailer from

is the dungeon miniboss theme or even part of the dungeon boss theme?
it sounds like a fight theme!

They've always used at least part of the main expansion theme as some sort of boss theme, so yeah, it probably will be
>still refuse to explicitly elaborate on what "living energy" means
Fricking cowards.
Isn't it just the aetheric sum of life? It's not like zodiark had dynamis brake fluid
We just don't know.
The war rages on to decide whether "life energies" means random coalesced energy in the underworld, flora and fauna, or onions life energies (souls of other ancients deemed to be less important because they were from other cultures, or newborn, etc.)
Depending on the answer, you can obviously make a good argument for why the Hydaelyn camp would abhor and stand against the third sacrifice as vehemently as they did to the point of sundering all of creation.
I forgot to add: when Hythlodaeus described the Amaurotines that would end up being the blueprints for the Twelve summoning Hydaelyn and dying in the process, he did so by stating that "These dissidents surrendered their life energies in the creation of Hydaelyn, an incarnation of their opposing belief. And for the first time in history, our people stood divided..." Life energies? Living energy?
Yeah, they gave themselves to make Hydaelyn. The twelve & the watcher are just replications of those people.
Oh, my point is more that Hythlodaeus described the pro-Hydaelyn guys giving up their lives to summon her as "surrendering their life energies."
Meanwhile, he describes the bargaining chip for the third sacrifice that was to bring back the souls fed to him as "the star's living energy".
It follows the general idea behind primal summonings. You can use "planets living energy" in form of just crystals piling around and it's what has been used for normal summoning but live sacrifices are far more potent and are what fuels (Extreme) versions of primals in ARR.
Zodiark faction had the resources of the entire planet to tap into. Hydaelyn following lunatics only had themselves. Them being ultimately hypocritical and doing exactly what they hated zodiark faction for doing is all on brand with deranged cultist behavioru.
SO DON'T ACT LIKE YOU'RE MY FRIEND
>Zodiark faction had the resources of the entire planet to tap into. Hydaelyn following lunatics only had themselves
Zodiark was summoned with thousands of living sacrifices. He's a Guardian Force summoned with the contents of the soul and not just regular aether that's sitting around.
>Them being ultimately hypocritical and doing exactly what they hated zodiark faction for doing is all on brand with deranged cultist behavioru.
No it's just pottery. Venat and Emet-Selch are parallels to each other.
>Zodiark was summoned with thousands of living sacrifices. He's a Guardian Force summoned with the contents of the soul and not just regular aether that's sitting around. There's no such thing as "regular" and "super special magical aether just for summoning". It's all aether. Living being are just better aether batteries. Though it doesn't suprise me that you'd post
>Venat and Emet-Selch are parallels to each other.
unironically when you immediately came up with your own headcanon for a process that was explained in the base game.
>There's no such thing as "regular" and "super special magical aether just for summoning". It's all aether. Living being are just better aether batteries.
Souls are much more potent, and there's something special about them the game hasn't quite touched on yet. The Lifestream scrubs excess aether off the soul, but leaves the soul itself alone, it isn't dissolved. And a soul can only be granted by the planet.
>when you immediately came up with your own headcanon for a process that was explained in the base game.
Maybe you should buy EE3. It describes what Guardian Forces are, and then says that the Guardian Force summoning technique was what was later used as the basis of Zodiark and Hydaelyn.
>Souls are much more potent
Yes, more aether attached to it than to any other physical medium
>and there's something special about them the game hasn't quite touched on yet
Not in the context we are discussing.
>Not in the context we are discussing.
It is when the whole point was that Zodiark and Hydaelyn were both specifically summoned by offering up souls. Not just aether, but specifically souls.
>Yoshida's not the writer.
He's the director, he's aware of the writers' intent.
>Again, the only thing they have in parallel is that you fight them at some point
And everything else I just listed. I also forgot the part about how they fight you to the death and die smiling knowing that they've entrusted the future to capable hands.
>no matter how hard you want to stretch what little exists of Venat's character to make her seem less like a waste of screen time.
Endwalker Venat was a huge waste because it turned the whole story about her following a script rather than following her own convictions and exactly why she would oppose the Zodiark faction beyond the script. But the basis of Venat is solid. Cope.
>And everything else I just listed.
>Venat and Emet-Selch are parallels to each other.
The only thing they have in parallel is that you fight them at some point
Yoshida himself said they were written as parallels to each other. They're both heroes who are so certain in their convictions that they believe they have the right to decide the direction of the entire world. They both force themselves to carry on long after they wish they could have died, for the sake of their missions. Hades is the ruler of the underworld, Hydaelyn has control of the Lifestream. Venat loved the myriad cultures of the unsundered world, and Hades was a lover of the sundered world's arts.
>Yoshida himself said they were written as parallels to each other.
Yoshida's not the writer. Again, the only thing they have in parallel is that you fight them at some point, no matter how hard you want to stretch what little exists of Venat's character to make her seem less like a waste of screen time.
>waste of screen time
That would be Emet in Elpis. Most disgusting and story ruining fanservice I've seen in a long time. Simpletons like you complain about boobies, but this is the type of fanservice that ruins stories.
That would be elpis in general. I guarantee you the whole zodiarkgays vs hydaelyngays wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem if they kept information on Hydaelyn/venat/what actually happened to a minimum we had in Shadowbringers. It'd be limited to the same "are trees alive" shitposting that was present in late ShB discussion around hydaelyn/zodiark. Story itself would have been much better off for it, too.
I want to go to the timeline where the Elpis segment was a solo instance where you Echo visioned inside Elidibus's alzheimer mind and all the details were fricked up and obscured.
That's cool but
>Venat wasn't a hero by any definition of the word, she's actively villanous if not antagonistic because the story bends over backwards to paint a blatantly evil character in a good light
>Venat doesn't force herself to do anything, the main reason the story happens the way it did is because she does nothing deliberately because future WoL spoonfed her the script
>Hades isn't the ruler of the underworld, it's a title based on his namesake as well as his ability to see souls better than anyone you actual fanfic writing dipshit
>Venat actively hated life and did her absolute best to have it exterminated by warning no one about the coming apocalypse, doing nothing to help during said apocalypse and then killing everyone who survived the apocalypse the moment they try to rebuild their world
>Venat actively hated life
>muh script
They literally spoon-feed you her reason for still sundering Zodiark, it isn't just "lol only babby wol can beat the bird brain"
ShB dismissed the idea that all time travel in the game is closed loop, Venat still would have done what she had if her memories had been altered or (You) never showed up
Any collection of aether from the Lifestream (a synonym for the aetherial realm, reminder) would contain potential unborn souls. Souls would be fed into Zodiark no matter where they came from. Also the rebooted Lifestream was formed from the souls of the second sacrifices anyway so there's a good chance those people would just get churned back into him.
Also the real reason Venat ought to have been opposed to the third sacrifice has nothing to do with the fuel of potential souls itself, but the much bigger problem of everyone being mindbroken into wanting to crawl into a cope bubble where they pretended nothing happened and they were beyond the reach of death. Their previous apathy toward death is exactly what led Hermes down that road in the first place, and without his bullshit they were already heading toward the logical end of their lifestyle, that being to commit mass suicide because they had reached the end of their collective mission. And that's the path they wanted to get back on.
I fricking hate that EW made the story about how Venat had to follow a script because of time travel, rather than focusing on the above.
That's actually a good point. I just believe that there's no way that getting souls back from Zodiark could happen without giving souls to him in turn, somehow. Simply put: the presence of souls seems very inherent to Zodiark's continued existence, function and power, not just coincidental. Backed up by the fact that in his form, the souls remained, rather than being reduced to energy and losing their identity.
I get that, but Venat has no ground to stand on if her decision to sunder is derived from the assumption that her people will turn into an apathetic, cowardly suicide cult just because a bird girl told them the same thing happened to another civilization. Obviously, we now know that to be true, but that's meta-knowledge. Even if Venat was convinced that it was a 100% inevitable, that would not make for a solid argument in the actual setting since it lacks any form of proof.
Meanwhile, "you just keep feeding more and more souls of the unborn or newborn or other civilizations to Zodiark to get your own buddies back and I have to put a stop to it at any cost" is very clear and unambiguous. It's still a nuclear option, but we could see why she and her proponents would have been driven to do so.
>Simply put: the presence of souls seems very inherent to Zodiark's continued existence, function and power, not just coincidental.
This is explained in EE3. Zodiark is actually a Guardian Force, which was a technique Lahabrea's students worked out in a panic during the chaos in Archaeotania's escape that uses the contents of the soul for fuel rather than any old aether.
>Venat has no ground to stand on if her decision to sunder is derived from the assumption that her people will turn into an apathetic, cowardly suicide cult just because a bird girl told them the same thing happened to another civilization.
She didn't really need to hear it from Meteion, it was a looming problem in their society and an objective look at them would have shown it. Hell in ShB we already saw a guy asking what happens when they finish their job on the planet. And then Hythlo's shark rant was there to show how they were reaching the limits of their creativity, and thus their purpose.
There's also the moral problem of the abandonment of their duty as the planet's stewards. They were supposed to protect the Lifestream, but when presented with a major problem they began to see the Lifestream as a tool they could use for their own comfort. They were basically discarding their divine mission.
>This is explained in EE3. Zodiark is actually a Guardian Force, which was a technique Lahabrea's students worked out in a panic during the chaos in Archaeotania's escape that uses the contents of the soul for fuel rather than any old aether.
Thank you. I haven't gotten my hands on EE3 yet. But that just means that one couldn't just take souls from him without providing souls in kind, no? Like, souls were inherent to maintaining him?
>She didn't really need to hear it from Meteion, it was a looming problem in their society and an objective look at them would have shown it.
Yes, but in an in-setting perspective, it's a very weak argument. I agree with it, of course, and it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, but putting myself in the shoes of the average ancient of that time, it'd be a very spurious claim.
>. Hell in ShB we already saw a guy asking what happens when they finish their job on the planet. And then Hythlo's shark rant was there to show how they were reaching the limits of their creativity, and thus their purpose.
I don't disagree, of course. I know they were on their way to Ra-La'ing.
>There's also the moral problem of the abandonment of their duty as the planet's stewards. They were supposed to protect the Lifestream, but when presented with a major problem they began to see the Lifestream as a tool they could use for their own comfort. They were basically discarding their divine mission.
True, and that's flagrant hypocrisy. But you need something stronger, something tangible. That's why the debate on "the star's living energies" rages on. Because it would make it a truly grey conflict. Could anyone tell Venat and her allies that wanting to put a stop to wantonly sacrificing the souls of those who didn't and couldn't consent at any cost was morally wrong? I don't think so.
>But that just means that one couldn't just take souls from him without providing souls in kind, no? Like, souls were inherent to maintaining him?
That's my takeaway.
I see. I really need to get my hands on some EE3 information because I feel oblivious.
Thanks.
>And then Hythlo's shark rant was there to show how they were reaching the limits of their creativity, and thus their purpose.

this is a reference to the yoshi argument that gamers don't want any more turn based rpgs anymore prior to the release of ff16, just to be proven wrong by a turn based rpg a few months later.
The only logical explaination was they were people or else Venat and a now confirmed (thanks to EE3) significant portion of the remaining ancient population morally opposed fricking plants and animals being sacrificed but didn't object to their own people being thrown into Zodiark's belly. That would be pants of head moronic. Hyth or some other character even Venat and co objected because they viewed the "new life" as being the "rightful inheritors of the planet". Obviously fricking PLANTS AND ANIMALS wouldn't be seen as successors to an actual race of people.
They don't need to spell it out for you, use your fricking brain and you can logically deduce that was the only realistic explaination: The third sacrifice were people. morons such as yourselves are the reason writing has been dumbed down so hard because you can't comprehend subtlety or nuance and need everything to be literally explained to you in no uncertain terms or else you complain.
>That would be pants of head moronic.
Endwalker IS pants on head moronic. It's the same writers who wrote "And then big bad evil guy pulled out magic amnesia device that was never mentioned before and deleted memories of everyone who could have stopped him" and "And then Venat, knowing of the coming end, chose to do absolutely nothing about it because she didn't play Shadowbringers and doesn't know that future isn't set in stone"
There's no reason to assume " or else Venat and a now confirmed (thanks to EE3) significant portion of the remaining ancient population morally opposed fricking plants and animals being sacrificed but didn't object to their own people being thrown into Zodiark's belly. " wasn't played out straight. It's literally what Shadowbringers explained happened and we see happen first hand in Endwalker.
>And then big bad evil guy pulled out magic amnesia device that was never mentioned before
Kairos is mentioned within like the first minute you meet Hermes.
>And then Venat, knowing of the coming end, chose to do absolutely nothing about it because she didn't play Shadowbringers and doesn't know that future isn't set in stone
Venat was concerned about Hermes not being allowed on the Convocation if it came out that he accidentally the world, and she knew his input would be vital in ensuring Zodiark could protect the planet with his understanding of the aetherial currents.
Play the game.
>Kairos is mentioned within like the first minute you meet Hermes.
Not to mention they do the whole setup of how aether, memory and the soul work earlier through Montichaigne.
>xir's unironically defending kairos
>xir's unironically peddling fanfiction about Venat's actions because nothing she does is explained at any point
No, you play the game. Now you have once in a lifetime chance to shut me up and provide a screenshot from the game that shows this was her intention. This will be very easy because it obviously happened and you didn't make it up to justify her insane behaviour. Certainly your next reply will do exactly that instead of being yet another smug post delivered through tears because your headcanon isn't being accepted by anyone else.
Your response?
inb4
>d-doesn't count
>venangay that actually can callback ingame dialogue instead of doubling down on their own post
I kneel. Venat is still objectively moronic and sitting on her ass doing nothing, not even warning anyone this was coming, was the worst decision she's made during that crisis.
I'm not a Venatgay, Emet-Selch is my favorite character. I think EW completely fricked up and squandered Venat's character with the time travel shit instead of delving more into the actual moral and philosophical conflict going on between the Hydaelyn and Zodiark factions and taking weight and agency out of her decision to sunder the world. But Venat, at least the intent behind her if you ignore the time travel shit, is a solid character and a perfect parallel to Emet-Selch. There's a lot of nuance and interesting stuff to talk about regarding the whole situation but any discussion about it instantly gets fricked up by cultist fanboys on both ends and it's fricking stupid.
when endwalker first came out and you go to elpis I found it hilarious emet was still miserable immediately
He was still a bit of a pissy b***h in the short story where he helps with the phoenix, but I felt they went way too hard on it in Elpis. Felt very fanservicey.
He's not miserable on Elpis, he's just tsundere.
He thinks he's annoyed by Hythlodaeus and Azem's antics, but in reality he loves them and likes the opportunities they give him to show off. He's the theater kid that thinks he's not cringe like the other theater kids but then goes ham when they finally goad him into doing his thing.
Personally I think it reframes his behavior during Shadowbringers in an even more tragic light, he's playing the part but the sundered remnant of his best bud doesn't reciprocate at all, so it just becomes legitimate depression instead.
The real issue with Elpis characterization is Hythlodaeus being turned into a completely different character.
>The real issue with Elpis characterization is Hythlodaeus being turned into a completely different character.
I miss kino ghost Hythlo...
Me too. They completely ruined what should have been a pretty simple three way tsundere, trickster, and straight man trio and turned it into tsundere, trickster, and gay trickster.
I don't feel like Hyth was turned into a different character. How did you feel he was?
He seemed very analytical and wise in Amaurot, and didn't show any signs of being a hyperactive twink. He also didn't seem to be the teasing type, he's very straightforward with you in Amaurot. The Hythlodaeus in Elpis is just a genki uke type yaoibait boytoy, he doesn't really ever exhibit any of the perosnality traits he had in Amaurot besides trying to be the positive pep talker, but even that he goes about very differently. You could theoretically chalk this up to him maturing but that makes no sense for an immortal being
I can see that. He definitely gets waifu'd up as a twink, but I am struggling to remember any standout behavior in Elpis beyond being a playful gay-wife to stick-in-the-mud Emet. In Amaurot my impression of him was a very kindly, friendly mentor kind of figure. They still did such a fantastic job with him there, I liked the mature wit or cleverness of how you meet him. It's not done up in chibi or faux anime (say, with the viera girls in the first) or over the top comedy like revealing Emet and Hyth in Elpis (though I did like that). Rather:
>Awe-struck at this atlantis
>Surreality of literally waiting in line at a bureaucracy of strange ghosts. But it's played up seriously
>Tiny figure on giant benches
>You start succumbing to the light aether, you're about to die
>"Is this seat taken?"
Just the way it was presented was impressive to me. A way to do levity without being farsical like the ridiculousness of puddingway zombie showing up when less than 5 minutes ago you saw refugees turned into abominations.
I would consider that maybe Emet focused on what he liked with Hytho - the wise analytics, when he created the false shade.
People amazed by this proves Trancers literally didn't read the story, and added their own headcanon before EW even launched, and expanded on have only expanded on their delusions ever since.
This scene is immediately after the dungeon and incredibly tense, it's not something you miss.
>and expanded on have only expanded
Whoa I should read my posts again after editing a sentence
Are you surprised? Most Trancers either skipped cutscenes involving Venat or that had any exposition involving her.

They look like shit, there I said it. And now I can finally declare hrothgar as a race and absolute failure.
What would be a better new race for next expansion? Because fem hroths are not gonna move fantas like they probably hoped.
I like them.
lupin come next
Please no. Wowies are just starting to move back to their favorite decaying corpse of a game, let's not give them any reason to come back.
they are yet another human body with an animal head, but this one is already established in the world and they're even part of civilized society
you know they're a possibility
They are a disappointment to any who were looking forward to them
Not to me. I almost can't bear to keep playing my current WoL, I want fantasia now.
Good
The new blonde pretty regal lady at the top of the pillar will probably be the next waifu sweep.
Yeah. I tinkered some models, did some kitbashing and imported a few models. Found a hijab or somesuch someone did, removed the floral design on it and then I jerry-rigged it up to some helmets/turbans and now my guy can look peak moorish knight.
Yoshi said femgars are the 'last race' but had something like 'for now', or 'things may change'. I forget how he phrased it, the idea being if XIV continues to do gangbusters it'd be a chance in 9.0 but I'm skeptical. Did say he likes wolves in an interview though. But really we don't need anything new race wise.

I wasn't being hyperbolic when i said a little, that is by far the most heavily modded my character has ever looked. I generally dont like the idea of my model looking different to what 99.99% of the other players can see, so I tend to stick to minor graphical touchups
I mod everyone else's character, and the occasional vfx mod for boring jobs

breasts too small.

That spot looks very similar to Solution 9
Guess all the Second Life gays will be congregating there on mass and ERP. Guess I'll download that mod the lets you hide other players.
Anyone who mods to this degree needs to have a special status next to their name in-game to let everyone know they are filth whose opinions hold no water

Some cookie cutter PR reply would've done just fine. You're also either forgetting or uninformed but that Black person fricking VANISHED the moment she started running her mouth despite the story seeming fairly gray. He didn't need to be cancelled because he wasn't around to cancel he just dipped and I assume still owns some of OTK or whatever.

You need to be asking why Asmongold threw him under the bus the day after the Twitlonger post was released, it was him doing that which caused the full pile on because people trusted Asmon.
We know nothing, you need to be asking him.

You're late, he responded. By suing the girl and 10 other accusers for defamation and is wanting a jury trial. He's suing her for $3.8million.
It took this longer because apparently he and his legal team have been building a case.
Damn time for eceleb drama
Good.
i hope this ends up involving assmon too, that coward goblin was so fast to betray his friend and throw him under the bus
may all streamers get wrecked in its wake
It won't look good for Asmon is Rich wins his case that's for sure. I'm just disappointed in all of it.

CBU3 are gonna be in charge of the IX remake aren't they?
FF IX Remake has been in development for a while, probably releasing late this year.
I doubt CBU3 is involved, if it is it's only in an overseeing capacity. The project is most likely headed by Hiroyuki Ito with the brunt of development outsourced to Tokyo RPG Factory , Xeen Inc, or one of the other smaller studios Square Enix tends to work with.
>zodiark says he needs more sacrifices to continue stopping the rumbling

Did I speed read or was he just a fricking liar who enjoyed sacrifices?
He never said that. The first sacrifice was to summon him, and the shield against dynamis was a natural ability projected from him. The second sacrifice was to fix the Lifestream, which had been killed by the dynamis bombardment. Zodiark only ever answered the wishes of his summoner, up to the point he even projected Elidibus back out of him to mediate the debates between the two factions because he only wanted to know what they wanted.
Zodiark needed sacrifices for different reasons.
The first one was to create him, and in so doing halting the Final Days by creating an aether bubble around Etheirys that blocked dynamis. (Ancients considered it "rewriting natural laws")
The second one was to fix the fricked up ecosystem and allow life to flourish and winds to blow again on the star.
The third one was to bring back all the people sacrificed (75% of their original population) to him to make all of this happen.
pretty sure it's a matter of upkeep
>ancients need to supercharge zodiark to remove all the people sacrificed to summon him
>plan to let life grow abundant so they can sacrifice literally everything so he can become a free money (aether) machine and give everyone back, not just Elidibus who probably shat himself out as a primal before Hydaelyn was even a threat
>The whole matter of cutting him into pieces doesn't stop him from being an active alteration on the planet, it just makes him do that on 13 different ones at once
>need 50 wolf marks for the mount
>do one match of crystalline conflict
>our team just assrapes the other team because we have a warrior and a white mage that keep yanking people into our clump while we pile on them

How are all you XIVbros passing the time until dawnkino?
finally getting around to blue mage. really disappointed with EW skills. I mean, they're strong, but they are pretty much just dps skills.
I've been leveling an alt and gotten everything to 80, currently at elpis. I still haven't gone past the 6.1 patch on my original character
I still have the other half of XVI to play and then the
PSP trails games. Not to mention Mahoyo
>Zero trailers that focus on Alphinaud's ass
When are we gonna have a real discussion about sexual inequality in Japan?
Back on the island grind. I stopped at rank 10. I wish there was more to it than simply ordering my slaves to work at this point.
Trying to get The Accursed title
If I can do it before DT I will try and get all my alt's jobs to 90.

Can you read, write and speak Japanese? Well weebhomosexual? No? Didn't think so
The beginning of the end.
Finishing getting all of my crafters and gatherers to 90. Never touched them before Endwalker but with these patches giving me nothing I figured might as well. Nearly done. Gatherers all hit 90 ages ago and all of my crafters are at least 80 with some at 90 already. My sub will end sometime after 6.55 so I'll have finished the story, relic, etc. and at that point I'll do what Yoshi's been begging me to do all expansion and unsub until dongtrail releases.
get the crafter relics
Playing CC as I always do. High crystal is hell, why do I do this
I'm going to get the relics I want done next week and then take a break to handle my single-player backlog, not to mention the first half of this year is abbawdely packed with releases.

I wonder what Venat's natural ancient transformation looked like. We see Elidibus's in P11. And it's very different than Zodiark
I would've loved to have seen it. Bums me out that we can't see her harness a full transformation. Something angelic, but warped, or whatever.
We'll see it during the Ascian-themed ultimate after 8.0.
I just wish we could've dueled her in it like we did Elidibus.
Why do we get to see all the men naked, but not Venat? Motherfrickers.
when is rival wings season back on
>13's moon could've been way cooler
It already kinda looks like that, game's just ugly.
Even with PS3 graphics they could make much better looking shit.
All of the post-6.0 MSQ felt like a waste. Who asked for a fricking FFIV-based storyline to be made into the main plot? Every character was forgettable and boring and the best part was us just going back to Shadowbringers.
I mean the OST is beautiful, as per usual with recycled Uematsu kino, and the patches had their moments... but yeah it was underwhelming, kinda aimless.
nice ass
I mean, maybe it could've been good, but the writer fumbled it hard. Emet had people far more interested in him in the 2-minute scene at the end of Stormblood than Golbez and his four fricks managed in 5 patches.
golbez won because rubicante got hyadain as a guest composer
this and the last dungeon were quite nice
>GLAD YOU COULD RE-REMAKE IT, GOLBEZ
Wait until you see what Zodiark's arena could have been...
in fairness i totally get why they didn't go with these, they don't represent the idea of zodiark as a brainless god of darkness very well at all, let alone zodiark with fandaniel piloting it
Jesus Christ
We all know that they'll totally use one or more of these for the inevitable Hydaelyn/Zodiark Ultimate.
Way too much for that empty husk that aborted zodiark was.
Hopefully we'll get more cool stuff like that though. I miss when Final Fantasy could go crazy back then.
Well we did get this, and of course the stellar war in TOP.
This is what Zodiark would've looked like before, until Yoshi-P took over the game
Stop repeating this lie. It wasn't even Zodiark, its name was Gaia and had nothing to do with Zodiark before the reboot.
Functionall the same character, just different name.
There was no Zodiark before Yoshi-P, that thing was called Gaia.
And now I want to frick the current Gaia.
and I want to frick the old Gaia
>elementals were eldritch psychos because they were going to be the minions of the final boss
>ever since ARR the writers have to keep sweeping over it and hoping people forget
You can really see the FFXI art style in it.
this was going to be zodiark until they decided to use the concept for 16 ultima instead of keeping it at 14
this design was used in arr, the chrysalis, at the convocation cutscene, the shadowbringers murals and Akadaemia Anyder at the words of Lahabrea segment
saying that this wasn't zodiark because the design initially started as something else is ASININE and you should feel bad for being so dumb specially when it was referred as zodiark thruout the entire game until EW retconned it's shape into an ex death reskin
The argument was about it being Zodiark in 1.0 until Yoshida took over FFXIV.
ah, yeah, there was no zodiark back in 1.0, i kinda wish we had kept that lore setting instead of the moron shit we got in 2.0
elementals and their mistery were far more enticing than 2.0 cartoon villain ascians

Is this character "transgender" or are these dipshits just injecting their desperate beliefs based on very spurious information/Japanese silly pronouns? Or is it because its voice actor is a troony?
Just shitposting by wowbabies, the tweet itself is fake.
It's a joke because the voice actor is a troony.
Phew, thank goodness.
The character is female, english VA is trans. It's literally just all wow shill's trying to defend their dead game
You don't know that its female.

So what is this place? The giant machine in the background resembles the Vascular Plant from Armored Core VI. Is it a simulation machine that contains Solution 9? Is it a portal-generator leading to another dimension (probably a shard) where Solution 9 actually physically exists? All we know is that
1) It's visible on the map in north side of Tural
2)It's connected via a 1800's style train to the Wild West zone
3)The area is rich with lightning aether
4)There is a modern-looking amusement park, which doesn't match with the technological level of the area especially not Solution 9
4) Solution 9 does not seem to exist anywhere on the map
fartville
Solution 9 is on the map, Heritage Found is just directly under it.
what if its just something boring like a big ass tower with solution 9 built on top of it
I think another interesting question is what the purpose of the eliminator is. If it wasn't for the train tracks leading from the old west into heritage found I might've thought that it was a gatekeeper that we need to switch off in order to reach the zone but it seems not, though I think it's still most likely a guardian. If solution nine does end up being related to the ancients or first post sundering people then having a giant kill bot on standby makes sense I guess to protect your eternal city for the long term.
Supposedly it was said to be a dungeon boss so it's story relevance is limited. We also have this other dungeon that doesn't appear to be related to solution 9, perhaps it's part of that.
I don't think it's a dungeon boss with the amount of times it's been shown off it's probably one of the trial bosses
I don't have the quote or the source but supposedly yoshi p introduced it as a dungeon boss.
how new are you, do you not remember anima and the magi sisters being shown off a ton pre endwalker release and damn look at that they were dungeon bosses
Oh it's definitely a dungeon boss they said as much. Hard to pinpoint with 100% certainty but I think it's possible that concept art is actually going up through the base or whatever. It can still be story relevant though because it'll give some insight into the Solution Nine guys depending on then when and why of it's creation and purpose, that's what I had in mind.
That being said, we do actually have a missing Trial boss other than Valigarmanda and the only time they showed off dungeon bosses instead was for spoiler reasons due to the trials being Hydaelyn/Zodiark. It might mean that the other trial excluding the final boss would be recognisable if they outright said it. Pretty interesting given that I'd also bet it'll be Solution Nine related because it's already a more secretive zone and Valigarmanda fits the jungle aesthetic more. If it were pure fanservice from prior games it would probably also not be an issue to share the trial, even innocence was given to us so I'm expecting it to be a decent reveal. Some ancient/Azem soul or hologram frickery, a missing Ascian or whatever other tweest they cook up.
midgar
I'm guessing it's an Allagan attempt at surviving the Final Days
Allag never stepped foot in the New World though
They have a probe on the moon, they could have been anywhere.
I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that they never went there
How about we wait until release before we start doing moronic theories? The playerbase almost never gets anything right when it comes to story predictions.
>How about we wait until release before we start doing moronic theories?
How about you eat my ass?
Sure. Gibs me dat ass, white boi.
Ehhhh?! o///o Y-you're not supposed to say yes, anon y-you stupid baka! >///<
Outpost from another shard.
It's so technologically advanced because that shard hasn't had any calamities or anything to set back technological progress for thousands of years.
Yoshida pointed out the lightning because they're survivors of the Twelfth shard which was consumed in the Second Calamity of lightning. The technology is because the lightning element is associated with industry and having their world shifted toward that element inspired their tech progress.
so why is Solution 9 referring to Zidane's Dyne ability which sounds suspiciously like Dynamis
There's a bunch of portal stuff going on in the images, if you check the solution 9 stuff you'll see this weird blocky circular structure, then if you look at this uh "artwork" you'll see it again in the back.
ARE THOSE....?
THE DISCS?!
Oh my god
I swear the thing on the bottom left looks familiar.
I thought it was something similar to Nyunkrepf's Hope (not-Noah's Ark) but I misremembered how the figurehead looked.
There's by the way the interesting thing that a ball shaped ship could travel through that ring.
Either it's a shard that got nuked and this was the 9th solution they attempted, or it's a shard that survived. But a salient point not considered yet is we have no idea who the antagonists are. Beyond probably the dual-headed mamooja fought in the trailer (since Femgar's the daughter of a current king or some shit). And there's purple (AKA electric-aether) crystals that don't look indigenous to the environment in some of the environmental footage (Not the texas area but other places, I remember a spiral-y mountain tower thing with it) and even on the monster Estinien fights. That might just be bio-luminescence though.
And we don't know what is dividing the scions. It's really not likely to be some mundane "who should be the ruler? Jackass A or Jackass B?" Unless they are both milquetoast enough to be difficult to pick between yet also distinct enough to really -divide- the scions. A really difficult question of technology or nature as a solution to some crisis is more of a meaningful ideological divide. Think Yoshi also eluded to basically two story arcs in some phrasing, so I suspect native succession is story one and solution 9 is story two.
>And we don't know what is dividing the scions.
They're all just hired by different people vying for the throne. Thancred and Urianger were already talking about it in the EW patches when they were talking about the letters they got from someone hiring Archons.
Oh that explains it. I haven't done all the patch content yet, the MSQ patches are so fricking tedious. In that case it's another case of overselling it. I forget when that happened before but it was a similar nothingburger.
So, if they ever add another race, what kind of coomer should it pander to? My vote is on shortstacks.
mutts, black women with giant asses
I member when we all thought elpis was the most shocking revelation, and then ultima thule happened.
Is it normal to feel absolutely disgusted when playing dark knight? I got the job to 74 during shadowbringers, but every time I try to play it now I just feel sick. Like physically.
its the #1 main job for troony femra players and NPC male highlanders, so no its reasonable to be repulsed by dork knight
I would say consult a doctor if a videogame is making you feel physically ill
It's been normal since shb
Why? It's a fun job.

haha yea
that shit is so cool, funnier than that into DRG jump.
yeah, that's moronic.
DUDEEEEE
I PRESSEEED THE BUTTON BINDED 40 PEOPLE
Why is every drk player a troon female au ra? Genuine question
Why are you obsessed with troons?
Don't answer my question with another one.
Because femras are optimal
According to you, who plays one, so your biased answer is worthless to me
That's the answer, because drk is good and only dumb people play bad jobs for no reason
It's a moron friendly job that attracts parser autists, it's tailor made for HRT addled brain fog trannies and au ra is the de facto troony race
i think i would kill myself if i hit submit on this post and i had to live with the fact i wrote this
It doesn't take a lot to make you have a nice day.
youll have a nice day soon enough, dont worry
is CC still alive these days? i got pretty into it when it came out and grinded out crystal on bard, but haven't touched it since because i quit the game shortly after. but you're giving me the itch again. as much fun as it was, it had some serious balance problems early on (read: white mage) and the other PVP thing i can't even remember the name of was unplayable unless you were SMN as i recall
The season ends next Tuesday and I don't think there's another ranked season coming until DT, but if you have fun in casual I think it's still alive and well. The meta has shifted a little bit, and good players don't get wrecked by WAR/WHM double stun teams anymore, and they nerfed the range of WHM polymorph so it's harder to use it offensively. I haven't really played in high end games in a few seasons but definitely think WHM/WAR feel more like noob jobs now. The mud league was dead after a few weeks so I couldn't even climb out anymore.
Everyone in Frontlines is a lot more tanky now since they added (more?) damage reduction for everyone, so SMN spam doesn't work quite as well as it did early on. Now it's DRK/DRG/AST combos wrecking everyone instead, but there's room for other jobs too. You just have to learn to play around the dark knight succ field.
Still, PVP is pretty fun.
I don't think I'd want to climb to Crystal again, it was quite a grind and BRD was weak at the time, I'd probably be fine playing casually with friends. I don't even remember the reward structure, would there be a reason to grind to Crystal again?
There's mainly the PVP battle pass, but you can do whatever to level it up and pretty sure the current PVP pass lasts until DT so there's plenty of time to do that. The only thing specific for ranked is that Diamond and higher start getting these tokens you can trade in for glowy versions of the PVP weapons.
I don't think BRD is bad at all at the moment, but you're definitely not the first bard to complain about feeling weak. Bard's silence definitely felt nastier than anything MCH or DNC has, but what the frick do I know. I guess people can just run away behind a corner if you're trying to kill them alone.
The issue is I felt like a well-timed silence was literally the only thing I could contribute. Damage felt underwhelming compared to fricking Machinist, keeping stacks was annoying, dealing with melee was hard, and the LB was laughably bad when CC launched.
brd’s silence is way too overrated for what it does. it’s also predictable as frick since the brd needs to go up close to do it compared to before where you would have no warning if they were gonna do it. brd just doesn’t do anything useful for the team right now
are these weapons actually in the game or is it modded stuff? sorry havent played in a bit
They're from lineage 2
They're in the game.
To get them, you need to rank decently high in a CC season and get a crystal as a reward.
Dunno what the frick
is talking about.
appreciate it
brd is even worse now
I played
the entire time I leveled that job
one of my most memorable moments of gaming i have zero regrets
Would you help with genocide for her?
DT is immediately made better by the fact that Krile is front and centre this time
I wouldn't consider 5 seconds in a trailer front and center
She made the entire trailer worse
What the frick is that bubble shit going over the bridge? fricking waste of time
How long will the Job Action video be this time?
Heavensward's was 6 minutes
Stormblood's was 12 minutes
Shadowbringers's was 15 minutes
Endwalker's was 19 minutes
A conservative guess would be ~23-25 minutes to allow for showcasing the new jobs plus whatever reworks Dragoon and Astrologian get this time.
So is the graphic update being implemented in stages? That's what I gathered from the LL. Update character models first, other things later.
I click on Venat thread but see no Venat?
The big blue thing Krile made in the trailer will be the Pictomancer LB3 right?
PMR?
Venat is hot and I want to mating press her so her actions and whatever she did are justified now post more Mommy I also accept Ameliance-posting.
She's mommy she knows best!
if theres no sexy monster girls in dawntrail then its a no buy from me
oh hey, she's still alive right? just gotta bust open that crystal
I guess if the process is reversable we could also restore golbez and scaramouche
>restore golbez
Gotta wait for that Void expansion.
There's been a serious lack of sexuallly attractive female characters since Stormblood and I'm sick of it.

SE got an ethics department and woke brainrotten people at their team, have you missed all live letters at fanfests were kate keeps talking about how tural is pluralistic, diverse, enriched blablabla buzzwords and how they don't wanna be racists and have an "apu" situation as the simpsons when hiring VAs?
Yoshi is so up his own ass believing twitter spergs represent the whole of gaming that he single handedly botched ff16 in the eyes of normies with all the gay couples and not understand that FF is an RPG first and DMC second. read his media tour ff16 interviews to get the gist of it.
>have you missed all live letters at fanfests were kate keeps talking about how tural is pluralistic, diverse, enriched blablabla buzzwords and how they don't wanna be racists and have an "apu" situation as the simpsons when hiring VAs?
Did she REALLY say that? Or are you saying that from your ass?
Not that anon but yes she did say that.
They emphasized diversity and respecting cultures a lot. And given how the trailer is all butterflies, lgbt colors, lgbt job and a troony main character to guide us in tural, I am bracing for the worst
>lgbt colors
christians should've gatekept the rainbow harder.
Content is important. In the trailer, the rainbow shit was straight up homosexual shit
Everything about it screamed estrogen

I was curious about the Apu thing but that's a little questionable given they have the fricking native american expy hrothgar played by a white/israeli transgender woman. So that is very much an Apu situation. My guess is they meant apu in terms of -thavnair-, hence why they got a British-Indian to voice act Varshann. and naturally woke morons I know complained about the accents being too thick. They want to complain
Kate's doing what these types always do, in any case. Long march through institutions and parasitically latch onto something successful then atrophy it (to the best of her abilities). While you can't write the story as a localization lead you can clearly direct and manipulate it, and I expect we'll get a lot more cases of what they did to Haurchefaunt. Though admittedly in that case going from a lecherous buduga-style-pervert to just a nice lad was actually a good move.
>transgender woman
>woman
>My guess is they meant apu in terms of -thavnair-
you are correct, as the usual contemporary anglo racism goes
shit must always be taken at face value and the moment takes precedence of ramifications or implications in dialetics.
apu being an issue is clearly because of his skin color, not because he is a stereotype, case in point, they didn't care about the mexican bee man or any of the other stereotypes in the show.
cept ms Krabbapel being a satire on the tired and miserable teacher, whom they care enough to be angry about.
As for the native american aspect, let's be real, woke dont care about them, they know nothing about their culture or heritage, just recently ESG and DEI groups are simmering the idea of hijacking the native american subject to use in their schemes as given by DT and that recent marvel show Echo featuring "natives".
Now we find ourselves in this predicament where native culture will be curb stomped and "reimagined" to tailor the woke agenda, such as hiring a kentucky troony be the PoV "not native american" character, under the flimsy argument that being og puerto rican heritage somehow is a pass card to it.
Kinda ironic that it all boils down to the fetishization of a vastly different and rich culture into a slop to wave the flags of sexual deviancy and "diversity" as long as said diversity doesn't go against what their californian world views are, also neverminding any and all Native myths which portray them in a bad light.
Brace yourself for the inevitable "we -not navajo people- are genderless" or whatever bullshit Kate will shit upon that pox infested canker she calls a translation
The Apu situation theory is funny because Raubahn, the only black character, is voiced by a white guy. Worse, he's had TWO VA's and they've BOTH been white.
Yeaaaah I think it's about time the elementals strike eorzea with another cataclysm
Every single one of them is a one off boss or gets killed off and I'm sick of it. And the next female character they're adding is furshit. All I can do now is pray for the lady at the top.
I was not subbed during Xmas. Was the event any good?
No, it was actually fricking awful. You know how they have the NPC interactions afterwards like the dream sequence you posted? There were five.
>Merlwyb walks up and says "Oh hey I heard the Bismarck made cakes for the celebration.... Anyway you take care."
>Kan-E walks up and says "Oh hey Fen-Yll was making boots as gifts for the celebration... Anyway you take care."
>i don't even remember who the frick the Ul'dah rep was but it was equally as bland
>Honoroit walks up and talks about how he was given leave to write another book, "Anyway you take care."
>Fourchenault and Ameliance have a cute interaction and she teases him about wanting a present so he goes and buys boots from Fen-Yll.
there were six actually, but I don't blame you for forgetting that Magnai came and said I'M 100% GONNA FIND MY NHAAMA IN THE BLACK SHROUD JUST WAIT BRO
As much I suck XIV's wiener and still play it daily, the seasonal quests are always boring as hell unless they include some type of FATE or special instance content.
Otherwise it's literally just feel-good story of helping random NPC get into the spirit of whatever the current holiday is and forgetting whatever the story was about minutes after you're done and just throwing the new cosmetic in your glamour dresser. At least the santa costume is nice high quality.
You know what race we need that nobody ever suggets?
Playable Androids. Phantasy Star did it.
That wouldn't work thanks to Ishikawa retconning every player WOL to being a reincarnation of Azem. Meaning rather than just being some random chucklefrick you're actually the reincarnation of a specific ancient character. And every player race is the sundered descendant of the Ancients. Meaning every playable race has to work around that.
How would playable androids work? How the frick did Azem end up reincarnated as a fricking robot? God I hate Ishikawa for ruining the lore with her fanfiction-teir writing.
Robots can have souls too 🙂
>How would playable androids work? How the frick did Azem end up reincarnated as a fricking robot?
Easy
>On the source there was this race of people who lived in isolation somewhere we've never been to or heard of
>Their isolation protected them from calamites, allowing them to progress in technology over thousands of years unmolested by Emet and friends
>Eventually, like the Omicrons, they completely replaced their bodies with machine bodies, transplanting their souls inside cyborg bodies
>Some of them eventually decided they wanted to explore the rest of the world out of curiosity and boredom since there is literally nothing to do all day in their perfect advanced society
>Azem's soul is what drives the player cyborg into their life of adventure
There, done.
Call it now. Which four bosses are going to be in our first tier?

If you aren't garbage Tanks are basically free clears
Just give up, if you didn't clear HoH solo during stormblood you will never experience real dread and suffering anyway.
the only floors you should have ANY sort of issues with, is 80-90 and 90-99, and that is either from being a sperg and not noticing patrols or you have absurd rng
What job(s) are you trying as?
And what particular enemy(s) are giving you trouble on 61-70?
If you haven't been already, 51+ (but especially 61+) is where you should have a healthy stock of empyrean potions and keep one running basically at all times in combat.

>>GNB get's another jacket
I mean, that's the aesthetic. I really don't get the "all job gear always looks the same" argument. The few times they deviated those sets get shit on hard, like HW Scholar.
I do want it to have a recognizable and similar appearance, but the problem is that it feels extremely low effort when compared directly with EW gear. As if they didn't bother to try something new that fits within the expected job gear requirements
I think it looks fine, I do want a better look from the front. The concept art looks good.
Are these artifact armors? they look swagg as frick.
Anon, no! You're not allowed to like things! Quick, call it "mid" or complain the aethetic is wrong!
No how about YOU prove you aren't a cultist and say something you dislike about this game.
I dislike the state of many of the zones when viewed from afar. Been an issue with many zones due to the inability to fill zones up with foliage or doodads.
Also visible when a zone designer tries to lessen the asset load by re-using rock/mountain segments, something very visible in Lakeland with that one 'arch' mountain piece that is used over 20 times, and you can grab a screenshot with half of them in the same image.
Zones are very much movie set pieces. I do not like WOW at all but I give it credit that their zones have a real breadth and scale to them. XIV has some wide open locations but they are also not big enough to actually feel big. Sagoli Desert for instance has it where you'll see giant mobs running about no matter where you are.
95% sure those are crafter sets. First is a blacksmith or armorsmith given they get the mask stuff, whichever of the two it isn't is the goggles, no idea what the fop is, parachute harness guy in the middle kind of looks like armor, guy next to him is carpenter or fisher, no idea what dancer is, and goldsmith/alchemist for the monocle.
Not that anon, but xivg
These ones look good. I'm especially hyped for the mnk one, probably the best since ARR. Its the one's with actual models that look pretty meh...
SAM and GNB are almost indifferentiable from their EW set's. Sage get's a pass since it got added this expac
I don't see it. The similarity is:
>trenchcoat
>ammo belt
>scouter
>glowing doodad on waist
That's it, that's just the core elements.
He's a moron, gb is my main job because it's the non plate armor tank. I love it's aesthetic.
I love it too. They took Squall and Seifer and infused that with 80's badass longcoat action hero. I have Protomen and retro synthrock on a lot when playing GNB.
Youtube is still being insanely slow but I was going to post my go to gnb music which is the shadowrun snes ost.
>shadowrun snes ost.
Good taste. I also like Super Turrican ost.
NTA but my schizo dream is for GNB to get an AF set that's based off of trench warfare gear. I feel like it would fit their aesthetic and lore, because it has the coat and they're basically meant to be hardcore psychos that rush firing lines with swords. On top of that, FFXIV already has some stuff matching that aesthetic in Bozja, the home of Gunbreakers, as well as other technology in that vein (i.e. Ghimlyt).
>gunblade that's a fricked up mix of a trench shotgun and a trench knife
>gas mask and helmet
>trench coat over a breastplate, complete with hand grenades and bandolier
It'd be rad.
There's that one gasmask headgear piece that people use for resident evil inspired glams that might work for something at least close. Idk the name of it.
All the gas masks are Casting and Scouting unfortunately.
will my wife ever be relevant again?
when hags do something fricked up, the answer is always : sex
Here's your new troony VA, Xiv bros
[Embed]
>All voices are by me
Only 2 years later:
Amazing what a difference HRT made in such a short time
>listen to one line
>pic related
Is it really that easy to get hired as a voice actor? What the frick?
I am really really suspicious it was nepo connections. I have nothing to base that on but my own prejudice, but I've seen how people operate and Kate as english vocalization lead can go "Hey I got the perfect candidate for this new character, it's [someone she either knew or just likes because they're transgender]". Now this person had some professional experience, but it's whiplash to compare Gaius being in Game of Thrones, Emet Selch being in HBO's rome, Vritria's human form having extensive theatrical/radio roles (very little TV/movie stuff though), Crystal Exarch having a shit ton https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047332/
That said she credited some talent agency, so it was probably just some ideological ally in said agency who networked her rather than boogeyman Kate. Frankly I'm just biased towards properly trained english voice actors because I don't like American voice actors. If they were some royal shakespear society trained transgender then I'd not give a shit. But some gigglesquee fangirl hired for the major liasion in an expansion is just pic related.
As long as the femgar is written decently then I'll deal with it.
that was definitely hired for being friends with the NA community managers
but it is that easy to be a VA nowadays
you essentially record some bad VAs at your tube channel, shill some political shit, go trump bad, and you're basically approved by DEI commitee of inclusion and diverseetee
Yoship is a trans ally
post the interview where he whines about a japanese mom covering her kids eyes to not see the jp troon at the street and hwo that hurt his fee fees
Its on kotaku. He likes troons and its why he' trooning out the game through troony VAs and characters, letting men wear skirts and all this shit
about that, why the jps didnt leash out on him letting dudes wear skirts and girl shit?
are they really trying to imitate america and go woke aswell? the population I mean
kek
rip japan birthrates
I dont know about Japan overall, they've always been weird imo, 2 nukes were not enough.
They are known for scat porn, extreme porn, they're also notorious kiddie diddlers, especially little schoolgirls. Weird freaks. Barely human imo.
But Square has an ethics department. And Kate. She/they, sporting spades, so you already know.
Trannies here like to continue the le based japonid larp, as if they didn't have a full cutscene of 2 gays tongue kissing. Something that even the wokiest of woke games didn't do. Yet.
So when are we going to learn that there was, in fact, an ancient-er, evil-er, jailer-er space villain that manipulated the Meteions into turning against the ascians and we'll have to accompany Punished Meteion in her crusade to eradicate Despair from the universe?
Totally organic posts, guys.
>betrays entire race
>creates the perfect life form
I kneel
how are they gonna introduce another threat that compares to meteion or el rotatdor
This argument is so moronic, because we never fought Zodiark at full strength, Endsinger was wrapped in dynamis plot armor, and WoL as well with Hydaelyn's blessings and mcguffins and Azem's crystal or the scions helping.
Think about it. What fights has WoL actually won purely on their own merits?
>What fights has WoL actually won purely on their own merits?
Most of the trial fights I'd say. The Echo is just a defensive buff so it's not like it's giving WoL an advantage against primals, and there are also trials which aren't primals like the Four Lords or Innocence.
I already laughed at you for that post.
That wasn't me but you going into full damage control mode and pretending everyone who disagrees with you is one person is on brand for a moron like you.
>That wasn't me
Cope harder, moron.
Cool phonepost. Anyway,
>What fights has WoL actually won purely on their own merits?
Shinryu. Hence why Stormblood is kino.
>What fights has WoL actually won purely on their own merits?
Pretty much the entire Heavensward has WoL powering through on sheer anger alone.
Nope. Estinien used the eye to kill Nidhogg. WoL was powered up by an eye when he fought Nidhogg.
Thordan, Nidhogg (kind of), Shinryu, Tsukuyomi, and Hades, at least. There's a bunch that were probably solo fights but have vague references to maybe having help, like Ifrit and Susano. The game is very strange about not committing to the idea that the Warrior of Light always has friends, but also not committing to him doing everything solo. I mean, no other character ever acknowledges the Azem crystal and the people that helped, there's only a handful of lines that ever refer to getting help, and there's plenty of dialogue suggesting you did stuff solo... But they also added a whole plot mechanic for you to summon your boys.
Susano's flavor text is fricking hysterical. "There just happened to be seven other people with the Echo nearby to pitch in" or whatever it says.
>Hydaelyn's blessing
It was a meme before Endwalker came out and then Endwalker confirmed it literally does nothing.
Anon you can't even aim your own replies correctly
meant for
?t=786
>Hydaelyn's blessing
>It was a meme
lol
I seriously don't understand why a shitty villain like Emet has turned you morons into such morons. It's like you don't pay attention to a single line of dialogue that isn't one of his shitty marvel quips.
nobody can touch the wol with attacks because of the blessing of light. hades wasn’t a primal and yet he was rendered utterly helpless against the wol, tickling them with his ultimate move, proving that no one can actually hurt them
The Blessing of Light is only a ward against aetherial corruption and grants more control over light-aspected aether. It's not a barrier against damage.
nope, there are plenty of primals that do their ultimate attacks that tickle the wol because of the blessing of light
hades specifically says that the light aether the wol absorbs has nothing to do with them shrugging off his attack
He says the exact opposite
>Has the Wardens' light run free...? No...!
>Damn you, damn your wretched blessing!
He sees a surge of light aether in the midst of his attack and thinks that the Lightwarden aether has finally consumed you, only to then realize that you've used the Blessing to weaponize it (because it grants greater control over light aether, as described by Exarch as his reason for specifically needing you, and when Ryne uses her own to suppress your sickness).
Hades' attack was intended to flood you with dark aether
>By Zodiark's might must we reclaim these vain reflections
Hydaelyn's Blessing (The Traveller's Ward) is designed specifically to prevent the corruption of your aether.
So Hydaelyn's Blessing IS why that last-ditch effort of his failed.
WoL lost the blessing for a while in HW. Plus like the other anon said its not a fricking invuln thing you tard you might be mixing it up with the plot reason for echo in trials making any wipe non canon and just a "vision". WoL can still get fricking hurt.
then why do so many enemies shriek in impotent rage about the blessing of light after their ultimate moves do nothing to the wol? obviously if their strongest attacks are so easily shrugged off, it stands to reason that literally everything else they do might as well be blowing bubbles at the wol
>then why do so many enemies shriek in impotent rage about the blessing of light after their ultimate moves do nothing to the wol?
coping? lol it took 5 of u to kill me ect ect
>it’s an unreliable narrator when it suits my narrative
lol
I already gave an example of coping you didn't need to post another.
>so many enemies
You mean primals? Primals who are attempting to corrupt our aether? The thing Hydaelyn's Blessing prevents?
TRULY BAFFLING.
>Primals who are attempting to corrupt our aether?
??? are you speedreading or what? the primals DIRECTLY ATTACK THE WOL BECAUSE THEY CAN’T BE CORRUPTED. it’s a completely different angle of attack
Every time they b***h "waah hydaelyns blessing", it's immediately after a huge elementally-charged attack, anon. You know, heavily element-aspected to temper shit? But we still take damage from the physical part but survive cause we're chads?
>elemental attack = tempering attempt
i guess the local ice sprite is trying to temper me too with their ice attacks. what an idiotic headcanon
>hurr durr we tank cuz we chad
thanks for telling me all i need to know about your reasoning faculties
attack = tempering attempt
That's not what I said nor implied gaygarooni, but continue. If you can't tell the difference between Ifrit's massive "I now turn invuln and blast the whole arena with fire and aether, and then whinge that the Blessing didn't work", and an ice sprite plinking icicles at you, there's some serious frickin faculty problems going on upstairs.
>Nidhogg
Hraesvelgr's eye
>Hades
Hydaelyn's blessing, Ardbert, and the light aether of all Lightwardens combined
>Hraesvelgr's eye
That's why I said kind of.
>Hydaelyn's blessing
Midgardsormr's entire existence is explicitly to prove that we could do it without her intervention (or at least taxing her). It does help, though, but that's like saying that Hades is cheating because he had mentors that helped him. Hydaelyn isn't fighting with us, we just have a blessing from her.
>Ardbert
Literally (You), and his contribution was just giving us hope, as we have pretty reliable proof that being rejoined doesn't actually make you a stronger fighter. You might as well say the Warrior of Light didn't actually win because he had a bunch of other shards rejoined.
>light aether of all Lightwardens combined
This is fair, but considering it was Hades that was trying to troll us with that, it's poetic and appropriate. We still absolutely body him.
The question was about fights that the Warrior of Light did solo. Outside power boosts don't make a fight not solo.
>The question was about fights that the Warrior of Light did solo. Outside power boosts don't make a fight not solo.
The original question was how increasing power levels beyond the likes of Hydaelyn/Zodiark/Endsinger is believable going into Dawntrail and beyond.
Outside power boosts being present for the majority of WoL's exploits so far is very relevent to that question.
>There's a bunch that were probably solo fights but have vague references to maybe having help, like Ifrit and Susano
Most of those are Koji fanfiction
the solo fight vs zenos at the end of endwalker is the only one I can think of atm.
every other trial, fight or solo duty had other players/NPCs with us or had some gimmick nerfing us and we had to hold out to survive like In From the Cold.
People like to cite fights like Thordan and Shinryu were done solo when that really isn't the case nor would it make sense. The text for Susanoo proves that the WoL has never fought a primal truly solo despite how the story cutscene doesn't show other players since thats just how the game directs its story and players have to leave to frick off elsewhere and can't stick around. The entire dungeon of Ala Mhigo has players and npcs fighting all the way through and seamlessly transitions into shinryu that outright shows other players running along the bridge with us ready to fight Zenos as well.
Besides, it'd be pretty bullshit if the WoL can take on 13 powered up primals at once with the Heavensward and Thordan, just to job to Zenos multiple times a week later in SB. It makes zero sense if we did that fight solo.
i want to have unprotected sex with Ryne (and maybe Gaia) and I'm tired of you all pretending that you don't want to as well
I thought the Trancer phase was over, but I see there's still one fricking loser still fighting on.
so did allisae telling zenos to maybe try not being a dick actually unironically save the universe?
Yes.
Yes, literally. In the parallel universe where he simply falcon kicked her tummy in response though, we all died.
looks like a white woman, so it makes sense
Final boss of Dawntrail right here.
jecht just shows up for no reason
I mean Anima did, so frick it, why not? Just give a good enough explanation and we gucci.
Imagine this happens
>Krile talks about Blitzball several times during DT
>Her favourite player was Jecht
>She liked playing it too when she was younger
>Jecht turns out to be Galuf's son
>Krile turns out to be half Hyur and Jecht is her father
Galuf isn't her actual grandfather. She's adopted.
I know that, but we don't know who her parents are. So I'm saying wouldn't it be funny if her father is Jecht who is Galuf's son? It'd make more sense then him making some random orphan his heir.
>solution 9
>a plot by Deudalaphon to solve calamities
>he manages to teleport the souls of the 9th shard into the source and bring their aether with them
>9th is lightning aspected
>solution 9 is hightech, meaning they are heavily into eletricity and tech
>let's call their rulers hymn or something
>bam final boss is sin/jecht and you're there to break the circle
>add blitzball to sol9 for good measure just to rub salt in the wound
yeah, i believe this is true
Solution 9 is from the Ronkans. It's where they disappeared to from the First, and conveniently they already had a mesoamerican style to transplant from their affecting the new world's culture. This is also why there's so many Hrothgar in the new world despite being separated from the ones on their 'homeland' on the other side of the planet. The 'cyberpunk' city itself is XIV's equivalent of the Genone plan from IX (a plot that also revolves around people jumping ship from a dying world to another) but people figures that out immediately when we saw the 'SOUL STORAGE' signs.
it kinda makes sense, with all the yshtola portal hopping shit and that particularly ronkan figurine in the trailer depicting the mamool jaa leader.
so this would make the Ronkan leader/villain of this xpac garland?
i mean I dig it but how do they do the life tree soul replacement angle? we already fixed their shard, and Ronka was not in danger during their time, what gives?
The version we see in Shadowbringers is mostly used for comic relief, but the great serpent of ronka was supposed to be able to foretell disasters.
They are also the first's version of the allagans so they should have been fairly high tech/high magitech.
The one problem for that is the Ronkans only had to flee ~100 years ago when the light came in. And Ronkan Qitana Ravel is nowhere near the look of Solution 9, nor does it feel like they'd randomly go from heya hoya heya hoya mesoamerican to night city. I do know that time travel between shards is finicky, since despite being yeeted over in the span of a week or so the scions ended up arriving to the first a few months "Ago", or many years "Ago".
So I guess your theory can work. In traveling to the source they didn't arrive 100 years ago, they arrived say, 1000 years ago. Or 5000. THough then they'd have to survive the calamities since the last one about 1700 years ago (excluding Bahamut's).
>THough then they'd have to survive the calamities
there is a good explanation for that already
calamities mostly affect Eorzea and its surrounding areas as they are where magic is concentrated, and whatever reminisced of the old 1.0 lore that made Mor Dhona a VERY important zone with something VERY IMPORTANT beneath the lake, so much so that Midgard made a pact with Hydaelyn to protect it
if you go to Othard you can even see that Heaven of High stood there for quite a few thousand years undisturbed and despite feeling the aetheric disturbances of calamities they don't get shit like a literal rain of fire over their heads when it happens.
But I do think they had troubles with the calamity of water or something
Where did you hear it mostly effects Eorzea? My understanding is it's a global phenomenon - unless I am misremembering the Miqo'te crossed the ice from Meracydia to the old world, or maybe they crossed the ice from Ilsabard to Eorzea. But it might be your and my sense of what constitutes an impact is different. I think you're saying
>Eorzea gets completely demolished by a calamity
>Further away is survivable
Akin to Eorzea being Indonesia with the 2004 Tsunami and the new world being Somalia or maybe India.
But yeah, I think the lake is still very important, and it's likely dealing with the snake mentioned in that crafting/gathering sharlayan quest.
EE vol 1
and I think there is something in the game either ARR or HW that brushes over it too.
it is global, but the bulk of the damage is directed towards eorzea.
then if we consider that tural is essentially on the other side of the world, I think its the safest place to be when calamities happen.
what boggles my mind is: will they ever explain how they dealt with the final days?
i bet sol9 and the exterminator will have something to do with it
Nah. It's either Necron or Enuo. Dawntrail is the FF V and FF IX reference expac.
I wonder how necron would fit in post zodiark arc
>we kill the herald of fatalism
>necron the literal avatar of finality shows up
if this community could not differentiate fatalism from nihilism I doubt they can do it with finality
villain have to be very detatched from muh epic universe sad theme or idiots will whine its a repeat.
I am ready for the gigantic maintenance. When does it start?
Roughly 24 hours from now I think.
I like how much of a b***h Zero is when you first meet her. Especially since Y'shitla took the most of it.
Then you shake Zero's hand infront of Y'shtola.
Actually, I racked up billions of aether debt in exchange for sniffing her fedora. Over and over again. I couldn't get enough.
Would clearing King of the mountain (Lapis Manalis dungeon) through Growing light (current final post-Endwalker quest) be possible before maintenance? That's 21 quests but i'm a cutscene watcher in their entirety as well as any special dialogue options.
Get to it homosexual
I gotta sleep first.
Anon, that is what I do. I am as addicted to this game as I was to 11.
What expac you start on?
I started last month. I know i'm a nub.
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/50022737/
Bit of a bozja dabbler eh?
If you play all day, probably. It's only like 3 hours of content per patch including cutscenes.
I won't say spoilers but anyone who finished up to current msq. Is Zero going to be in the new quests then?
(no she doesn't die before the Zero simp who hasn't finished the game yet starts having a breakdown)
Zero will not be in any quests for the foreseeable future. Maybe if 7.0 field operations are in the Void.
I am hoping there's some sort of Japanese humor that involves her not understanding vacations and you get her to partake in some sort of get away activity such as voliball, etc.
Gotta say this as someone who picked this game up for something to do till the league mmo comes out. No Zero=I will quit before Dawntrail even comes out.
I watched some videos on Pandaemonium lore since im an Endwalker baby wow secondary & cutscene skipper and those were the only savage tiers I did. It's kinda kino. I regret not doing Panda tier 3 THOUGH. Maybe I can go back if Pf isnt 100% deaD?
There's a lot of stuff even from ARR that is directly used in Pand.
When you fight Lahabrea in ARR after Ultima he yells pic related.
Which is also the same line Athena yells when she uses her Ultima attack through her fight.
Its dead.
So fricking curious how the game dies within a week
Its already dead.
Oh... you're talking about the fights specifically and not the lore. Never mind.
I was tawn bout the lore friend, that dudes wife is nuts
>Endwalker baby wow secondary & cutscene skipper
Dios mio... El atrocidad de las Azerothas...
Im just being real wit cha
Why are the Nippon's so obsessed with eyepatch or hood over one eye
This happens to you, who do you chose?
Well the only good girl in that image is dicky-sena so her.
Based choice and for lore reasons.
She sucks her brothers dick.
Another one added to the Wol bowl.
As long as she sucks WoL's too I don't care
Alisaie always
When they eventually sell Zero's attire, I hope they also sell her Paladin shit.
Bruh it's literally heavenswards' gear. Dravanian set or something.
Reminder that if it hadn't been for a bunch of external factors like a bankruptcy and NA voice actor union threatening strikes, we would still be stuck with ARR voices.
Why did the ARR voice of Ayermic and Haunchefant not get affected by the change? By minor characters like even Merlyboobs, Rauhban, Nanamo get replaced?
Was there any reason given?
To hire puerto rican troons
kentucky, your granny being from another country doesn't make you from that country or etnic group.
this is a moronic american mindset, like how they think that white senator of theirs is a native cuz her blood test is like 6% native or something
capitalist pigs fetishise even heritage.
When Aymeric and Haurchefant were first introduced in game, their VA's were already contracted through Side UK because by that point SE already knew they would have to do the full replacement.
That makes sense, I'm glad they kept Aymeric the rest I was very happy to be replaced but his voice actor suited the character perfectly. Same with Haurchefant.
Kill zenos.
Lyse's navel would be a great place for a piercing
Lyse's navel would be a great place for a puddle of my cum.
already did
sorry bro but he's in the azem crystal right now
He's gone hence Zero's existence. Why are there so many Zenos copers? he was a shit character. I answered all negative answers about him.
he's gone, zero's existence proves this*
Also stop skipping cutscenes.
Because it was realised there is no Zenos minion, and characters tend to get their own minion when they die. I'm not saying I agree or disagree but that's literally why a lot of people are saying Zenos still has a part to play.
>burnt the remnants of his soul up fighting you
He's gone man.
People will find reasons to cope, I don't know what to say.
yoshi said that they only ever put minion of villains when their arc is completely done
thats why you never got a gaius minion, but got an emet one.
no zenos minion means that fricker will show somehow
you guys simped the fact that popular chars in japan that are not popular in the west are good because le jopon good taste or something, like zero.
zenos is very much liked there aswell, so expect him to show up one day
>we never got an extreme version of his solo instance
technically he does not exist anymore. Why do people even try discussing story if they obviously skipped cutscenes?
I'm sorry bro, but...
Zenos has the full Ascian power set.
Zenos was particularly adept at the body hopping version.
The original purpose of Ascian body hopping was to AUTOMATICALLY dodge death because their aether shunts into the nearest ancient crystal.
This is how the WoL is able to defeat them using White Auracite, since it was a more powerful attractor on them when this happens.
When Zenos 'dies' the WoL is in very close proximity to them.
The WoL is carrying a particularly special and power, Azem's, that had just been completely emptied in the fight with the Endsinger.
Ever since this point in the story, the Azem crystal has been recharged and functional again with zero explanation why in the story so far.
Please look forward to Zenos's big return in Dawntrail, though I douibt it will happen until the post patch content for pacing reasons.
>he was a shit character.
...he was my friend.
Someone didn't watch post-endwalker cutscenes.
I don't like plastic asiatics.
Okay done, now what
>all the models in this game look flaf as frick
>troons have to cope with it through heavy modding then suck asiatic dick as if they did anything
Cucked playerbase.
No one told me about this quest, what the frick? How do I find it?
I want to see this but it's Raubahn pointing at Nanamo
>but it's Raubahn pointing
You're gonna have to flip the image.
We better be able to call her Shtola in DT, we earned the right by this point.
This b***h is getting hornier with every patch.
WoL has that effect on women.
>walk in thread
>people are having lore discussions
>no schizo autismo fighting himself in comments
pray tell, when did we had such a cozy thread? over bleeding 100 years ago
Lore discussions are all I have left after Garlemald fell.
dont worry garlechad
we will have moon housing and restoration crafting content!
such reconstruction! it was not my intention!
That's why I like XIV threads on Ganker, I can actually discuss the game here, despite the schizos spamming shit and the mods being huge homosexuals every other day, this is still the best place to talk about the lore, story and shit.
it seems that the meme of schizo being an aussie are true
well cheers while it lasts
The question then becomes how mentally insane do you have to be to argue and bait anons into the same rehashed discussions about exhausted plot points over and over again, just to fill these shitty threads with something or they'd die 20 posts in.
I love mommy Venat, she did nothing wrong!
People shitposted Transmancer but it turned out to be true
I kneel
I hate this fricking lala so much it's unreal.
Why? It's just a generic spock.
I want to hate frick this lala.
