>Crit is another fill in the midcore gap people keep asking for.
People not interested in Savage will not touch normal Criterion. It is just more savage content but with 4 player and a more annoying gimmick that you have to do 3 savage fights instead of one to clear.
Also 55% clearing the entire current tier seems way too high. Unless its some autistic JP server.
wow, 35% for clearing a final tier sounds pretty good.

Savage is THE content to play XIV for in Japan. Not the MSQ, not anything else. It is incredibly nip core, to the autistic jumprope fights and the "etiquette" of learning every little bit of the fight by video before joining a pug group, with ONE standard way of doing the fights and no deviations from it.

True.
It's why I dropped the game, it is the most rigid, linear, limited and restrictive game I ever played. There's absolutely no real player agency in how to approach and overcome encounters.
Anonymous
No it's not. Japanese players are incredibly casual and always have been. Savage raiders counts for roughly a percentage of the playerbase and only a fraction of that are JP.

"Casual" for JP is just clearing savage at the end of the tier. Casual in NA is not knowing how the game works at a fundamental level.

I haven't played in years, but their savage clears were always much higher than the west.
>crit is harder than savage
I'm not sure why people say that, just the fact that the fights are 5 mins long and you have 4 less players to bodycheck frick up makes it easier baseline
It sucks. You do all the routes once and then what? Criterion too, unless you really like the mount. >Island Sanctuary
The only thing good about Island is being able to afk farm at the top of the mountain to skip the artificial wait time lmao.
Yup. Getting the mats for the workshop and building materials to progress is relaxing. Can't wait for the rewards down the line and to enjoy the small factory base getting bigger as i keep collecting.
Go in, gather a bit, set up shops, get out
The management is pretty fun and the habit is pretty cool. I like catching rare pets too, its getting me excited for beastmaster.
I have little hope for an improvement in quality to writing, timegating or asanine progression systems, but WoW does look like it's shifting gears when it comes to content update quantity and frequency. They're moving into a 2 month frequency over 20 months schedule while FFXIV has slowed to a 4 month frequency over 30 months schedule during EW patches and seems so far to remain like that in DT.
By the time FFXIV gets announced, WoW's expac after TWW will already have launched.
>FFXIV has slowed to a 4 month frequency over 30 months schedule during EW patches and seems so far to remain like that in DT.
It's been 4.5 months, I don't know why everyone keeps saying 4 months.
None of that matters in the fricking slightest to anyone but the people wo are already mazed for life. WoW isn't going to steal back all the players it's been bleeding this past decade by slightly improving its update schedule and adding marginal QoL features and its certainly not going to bring in new players.
>WoW isn't going to steal back all the players
The vast majority of WoWfugees always get the itch, and they'll be lured back especially if every FFXIV patch feels like a drought after the first week. Perhaps only temporarily, but it will happen and fuel more criticism on FFXIV's content schedule being slow.
The game will have a hard time in the first year of DT's patch cycle if, even worse than Bozja, the new Operations grind content takes until 7.3.5 to arrive, in the latter half of 2025.
>ut WoW does look like it's shifting gears when it comes to content update quantity and frequency.
Their past two expansions had two content patches each. They're literally pumping out WoD-tier expansions. Now they want to release yearly expansions so you might be lucky to get one content patch with each $60-$70 purchase.
>Now they want to release yearly expansions so you might be lucky to get one content patch with each $60-$70 purchase.
What is this this headcanon?
We don't know yet but they probably going with a 18 months cycle and 3 major tiers per expansion, that's pretty normal.
In 12 months they were able to release more content than square was able to release in 30 months.
I dont know why you're acting like more content released faster is a bad thing.
And don't lie, if square was able to release a new expansion every 18 months you would be hyped af.
>And don't lie, if square was able to release a new expansion every 18 months you would be hyped af.
I've already been through that and no, they were all shit.
the general opinion, if you filter aside seething about woke stuff like gay centaurs, was dragonflight was an okay expac
of course since it's not a literal dumpster fire like bfa or shadowlands journalists act like it's the second coming of legion
Because they were (predominantly) single-player systems that replaced the only content type where the game felt like an MMORPG (Operations).
Variant/Criterion are actually alright, but for the casual player it just amounted to running the 12 variations solo and you were done, and the content wasn't supported by adequate rewards.
Thankfully, Operations are returning, and the successor to Islands will involve group content. If Variant/Criterion gets a decent reward structure, it'll be a vast improvement over EW's patch content.
>crush on graha

Why did Endwalker's new systems (Island Sanctuary, Variant Dungeons, etc.) all fail miserably?
island sanctuary was barely gameplay. ppl wanted animal crossing islands not mobile gacha tier wow-garrison tier dogshit.; variant dungeons had barely any rewards/loot.
delves (reskinned scenarios) being a way to progress your character is a step in the right direction imho. if we could get them to get rid of esports mythic+ so they could actually experiment with the formula of dungeons, wow could actually reclaim a niche of the mmo audience
People wanted island adventure to be like a farming game or animal crossing. They got 5 minutes a day clicking on menues and fricking off. Variant dungeons were badly balanced and the rewards were too shit for them. You basically have a few hours of content that nobody wants to repeat and I assume it takes a while to design.
>another thread where anon confuses variant and criterion
It's not hard. Variant is the fun but easy puzzle mode that everyone played. Criterion is the overturned savage raid content that 5% played. Criterion (savage) is the needlessly punishing challenge with no rewards (until the last one) that less than 1% played.
>DRG might be in the same boat but i take concept art with a grain of salt.
IT'S NOT FAIR I'm still malding that Ryunohige doesn't have a matte dyeable version. Anemos's glow sucks.
At least this finally ended the debate on which MMO has more homosexuals, FFXIV wins even over WoW, a true accomplishment. The entire genre is troony central though.
The new shit they did completely flopped and felt incredibly low effort >Variant/Criterion
Variant is whatever repeat solo instances 12 times with minor differences. Criterion has 0 rewards and caters to the crowd of people who are already fine with Savage and probably won't touch content unless its a power upgrade. The last instance keeping Criterion normal dead while Criterion Savage is the only one giving rewards shows that it is 100% for savage raider. So very much not midcore content that people were expecting. I am pretty sure people were expecting something akin to mythic dungeons in WoW: A way to make dungeons harder. Funnily, the trash is probably the most fun part in Criterion dungeons. >island sanctuary
Again, very, very lazy implementation. The elements that were to be expected, gardening, gathering, crafting, housing and animal taming -all whom are in some way already in the game since fricking ARR- were streamlined into a literal mobile game. Okay, its forgettable, at least the story is fun? Having npcs visit your island and relax could be fun! Like maybe the Scions are visiting after the shit they went through in Endwalker, or maybe Yugiri and Hien... NOPE it is literal whos. With the glorious ending of 4 random garleans and Zero's BF giving you 5 wheels of cheese.
And that is it as far as new things go. In turn the trial story got baked into the MSQ making that so much worse, the relic grind is non existent and incredibly lazy and other than that we got what? 2 Ultimates?
I will say the visitors have been completely random and I don’t understand why. There’s so many people we could have and they dart board who. I enjoyed all of the visits but all hut Sadu made me go: “Them?”
island sanctuary felt a bit schizophrenic. it feels like they had two ideas with mindless gathering and the workshop minigame and just haphazardly sewed them together. i think it came out fine and it will be one of those things that generates heaps of gil for a long time as in the future, the time investment required will be too high for new players. though maybe they'll double or triple exp gain. there was also a lot of dissonance with them, as the playerbase seemed to think of it as instanced housing even though they repeatedly were told it wasn't the case. 'animal crossing light' was shot down by yoshi-p early on iirc.
variants are fine. the issue with them is the same with all puzzle based content in that there's very little replayability involved with it. should combine variants with deep dungeon.
the sad thing about the situation is the same group that is bleating about these experiments being failures are the same ones that are b***hing about the content schedule being predictable and stagnant
These posts are right, people hate new things and want stuff from the old formula but then go on to b***h about content that follows the formula being stale
There is no winning
The uncomfortable truth is that 14 picked up its own doom crowd that is dedicated to complaining and crying no matter the circumstance, negativity is the personality and misery loves company
You can't honestly tell me that the game quality and content variety is the same or even better than it was even back in ARR or SB. I love the game to death and my house shackles me to my subscription but XIV has gotten worse in all ways with the exception of high end raiding.
The are "on the plantation" as I like to phrase it.
MMO players often only play just that MMO and maybe a game or two on the side, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that. But just like any obsession, logic is thrown to the wayside. In their mind the game is perfect, because it's all they play and enjoy playing, every single day. For you to criticize any aspect of the game is almost akin to criticizing an aspect of their personality, and therefore leads to an angry reaction.
Anyone who isn't on the XIV plantation knows that EW has been the worst expansion since HW. No amount of coping will change that.

>EW has been the worst expansion since HW
Its like reverse Sb for me. I adored the MSQ 6.0-6.2 but really couldn't vibe with the actual content on offer. Meanwhile SBs MSQ started to pick up pace at 4.3 but the content was pretty fun.
Outside of Criterion it was the same formula as ever. Island Sanctuary is the casual crafter content this expansion just as it was with Doma and Ishgard Restoration in STB and SHB.
Criterion ended up being a failure because it failed to actually appeal to anyone. >normal mode is monotonous and outside of the mount there is no real reason to ever touch it again >criterion and savage are locked behind being BIS for the current raid tier which takes months of grinding even in an optimal scenario >savage has literally no difference in mechanics from criterion difficulty while still mandating you need BiS to undertake it >being 4-man content means it is harder to find anyone willing to do it outside of an immediate friend group
Criterion was just an absolute failure of imagination and the only reason it was added was because of the WoWfugee influx and their obsession with Mythic dungeons or whatever they do in that game.
You absolutely don't need BiS for crit normal except to skip mechanics. The only mechanic I see people regard as "skip or die" is the last set of towers in Rokkon hamster.
I do agree savage having the exact same bosses with bigger numbers is a letdown.
island sanctuary felt a bit schizophrenic. it feels like they had two ideas with mindless gathering and the workshop minigame and just haphazardly sewed them together. i think it came out fine and it will be one of those things that generates heaps of gil for a long time as in the future, the time investment required will be too high for new players. though maybe they'll double or triple exp gain. there was also a lot of dissonance with them, as the playerbase seemed to think of it as instanced housing even though they repeatedly were told it wasn't the case. community sentiment definitely shaped what people thought island sanctuary would be.
I still won't forget seeing a clip of zepla squeeling like a fricking moron in that dumb voice of hers about how maybe it could be instanced housing.
because it took the game in a terrible direction and tried to make it a single player rpg. MMO players want community based content and no im not a troony
>there's never been a better time to get started
Why do I keep seeing this for this game every single time it gets brought up? I tried playing it and was falling asleep with how boring the gameplay was and the story I kept hearing about was also boring.
because if you take your time on the story, as you should, and do things like your 8 and 24 mans and trial series as you get to them, you'd need 3-4 months to get through the entirety. if you started the trial today you'd get about 2-3 months out of it before you'd have to pay, and thats half the time to summer gone, and you'd be in a position to join the crowd for xpac release
Endwalker should've had lasting consequences on the main cast.
It's the apocalypse and all we see is pajeets blowing up and then the rabbits sweep in for instant comic relief. The game just doesn't have claws anymore.
>Louisiox >Hauchie >Papa >Raubahn needing a hand >Y'shtola and Thancred DO get crippled on their first fakeout death
Hauchie was a character for an entire expansion and a half when he got offed.
"BuT THaT Doesn'T CoUnt!!!" Cries the gritty GoT enjoyer. "ThOSe aRe NOboDIes!" He adds, tiny flakes of cheeto dust falling all over his stretched out wife beater. XIV has a staggeringly high body count compared to all other FF games.
>Y'shtola and Thancred DO get crippled on their first fakeout death
And that's never really mattered, has it? Y'shtola can still see just fine, and is even improved in some regards and Thancred still does Thancred things just as he always has, even without magic.
We know now that they actually won't face any hardships or consequences for anything, but at the time when they returned to the party crippled we still believed the story might have some weight and the party may actually be in danger at times, so we had a reason to be invested in their future.
Y'shtola is actually blind, but the writers very rarely reference it. The did one line where she asks Urianger to describe the night sky to her which hit kinda hard. It doesn't help that she is absolutely the character that would least complain about any kind of weakness or pain that could inconvenience any of her friends. In 6.1 which was basically 'her' patch, she does get winded incredibly fast after some bigger feats of magic, which are presumably her running on empty but still having to maintain the vision spell.
Thancred... yeah I have nothing. First Ryne and now Y'shtola and presumably Urianger are prepping his cartridges and his stealth stuff is maybe Garlean tech?
"BuT THaT Doesn'T CoUnt!!!" Cries the gritty GoT enjoyer. "ThOSe aRe NOboDIes!" He adds, tiny flakes of cheeto dust falling all over his stretched out wife beater. XIV has a staggeringly high body count compared to all other FF games.
>XIV has a staggeringly high body count compared to all other FF games.

yeah. what if we just brutally murdered ryne in front of thancred? then i could show my friends that the game i like is COOL and ARTISTIC and GRITTY and GREY

For one, having Urianger struggle against the dynamis bombardment. Instead of baiting with an unnamed baby you never see again, have the player question if one of the main party members is actually going to succumb because of the shit he went through, as foreshadowed when you first get to Sharlayan when he's stressing over Moenbryda again because of her parents. But instead the entire party is completely unaffected despite him later going "oh yeah I've been suicidal this whole time lol".
Another thing, not having the Loporrits show up to undermine every stressful situation with Japanese comedy. You don't feel the triumph of overcoming Endsinger at the end because the writers never actually let you sit in despair and feel the weight of what was happening.
Anonymous
urianger doesn't make a lot of sense to me to struggle with that because he's suicidal but the thing that made him that way happened a fairly long time ago by the story's reckoning, it isn't a sharp emotional spike the way every other blasphemy was made

Silently holding in your grief and guilt for months to the point of wanting to kill himself because he feels he got the love of his life killed isn't a small thing. suffering from negative emotions == losing control over them. g'raha and the wol show great concern at the pond when urianger tells them his plan. the lopporits serve as comic relief and as the race of enlightened saviors.
>sit in despair and feel the weight of what was happening
if you can't sympathize with your character, who does not know that he's in a story and in an mmo and he will eventually triumph because the game must continue, then i don't believe you're capable of understanding what makes a story good. i've seen you post this several times and the fact that you keep repeating it makes me believe you actually believe this is good storytelling. its not.
do you know how you get out of true despair in storytelling without any brevity? that the reader/viewer/player KNOWS there's no path forward and that its impossible to succeed, thus satisfying the notion of 'true despair'? deus ex machina. and that sort of ass pull is exactly what you're claiming to be against, because you are saying that its unrealistic for urianger to act certain way.
finally, you faking urianger's death by threatening him to be a blasphemy is the exact same thing as matsya and the child in thavnair 2

>suffering from negative emotions == losing control over them
Suicidal thoughts =/= feeling a little negative >if you can't sympathize with your character, who does not know that he's in a story and in an mmo and he will eventually triumph because the game must continue
It's not about me knowing it's a game and I'm going to win at the end. The player/viewer/reader has to be invested in the story. That's the point of it. Stories are framed to put you in a state of mind so you empathize with the characters. When bad things are happening, you're supposed to be worried. When good triumphs in the end, you're supposed to be relieved because everything you just went through is finally over. >do you know how you get out of true despair in storytelling without any brevity? that the reader/viewer/player KNOWS there's no path forward and that its impossible to succeed, thus satisfying the notion of 'true despair'?
I don't know what kind of mental gymnastics you had to pull to come to the conclusion that feeling dread in a story means that the win condition has to be impossible and there must be a deus ex machina to overcome that. The goal should be clear, but there should be a difficult path ahead to overcome. When the characters don't struggle, there's no adventure. >finally, you faking urianger's death by threatening him to be a blasphemy is the exact same thing as matsya and the child in thavnair 2

so YOU aren't feeling these emotions, therefore the fact that other people feel them doesn't matter because its a poorly told story?

the characters do struggle. jsut because you're not getting dune 1984 whispers reading the script as to what emotions they're feeling doesn't mean that the character isn't going through some shit.
what do you think despair means. the very emotion that drove the endsinger to accelerate the heat death of the universe because she saw no way out of it. to experience true despair which is what you claim, you'd have to give up. and the only way back from the player giving up on the game is intervention from beyond the fourth wall, ie deus ex machina. which is simply not an option when it comes to storytelling especially in interactive media

>so YOU aren't feeling these emotions, therefore the fact that other people feel them doesn't matter because its a poorly told story?
Yes, if the story doesn't doesn't cause the viewer to feel emotion then it's a poorly told story. You can't just tell me that someone is sad, you have to make me feel it. In a video game especially you can't just tell me that the world is ending and it's scary. Video games are an immersive genre and the player must be immersed. We have to be made to feel like shit is actually going very wrong. Endwalker failed at that. It's a poorly told story. >the characters do struggle.
Where? >to experience true despair which is what you claim, you'd have to give up.
No, you have to make the player feel like maybe they should give up, or to feel stressed about moving to the next part of the journey because something horrible might happen to somebody they care about. >which is simply not an option when it comes to storytelling especially in interactive media
Your opinion on storytelling in vidya is worthless because you're defending the idea that just telling the player that unnamed characters are stressed is good enough. You're acknowledging that it's an interactive medium and then saying it doesn't matter if it interacts with the player.

to those who are watching this argument, this is the crux right here. the meat of his shit opinion. he claims that a well told story is one in which the reader doesn't want to finish it. this is a fallacious statement because a well told story has the opposite effect, he is just flat out incorrect.
i am claiming victory in this 'argument' and i advise my opponent to analyze storytelling methods, what makes horror stories alluring, how to increase tension, writing methods to create hooks and twists. i hope that you can one day understand why you're wrong and can enjoy fiction for what it is, and why whenever you post this opinion of yours you immediately get assailed with GRRM posting and why GRRM is a shit fantasy writer.

No, my claim is that a story about overcoming despair should have the player feel despair and overcome it alongside the characters because it's an immersive, interactive medium. >and i advise my opponent to analyze storytelling methods, what makes horror stories alluring, how to increase tension
You're actually saying this in defense of the idea that the player shouldn't have to experience worry for the characters. You're moronic. You have no idea what makes a compelling story.

Noob question.
How important is leveling up the tradeskill jobs?
Is crafted shit as necessary in this game as in other MMOs? Only ask because I rarely see them brought up in discussion, so just curious.
Not that important, only time its useful is when a new raid tier comes out and all the people who actually play need crafted gear, food and pots week 1/2.
Other than that, you pretty much just use it craft the new housing shit that all these rp'gays want every patch for gil
It sort of loops into itself, the best crafting stuff is made by crafters only, and sort of ends up being mostly for making unique looking stuff over powerful stuff.
If you want to make a shit load of gil crafting is the way to do it
Because they are trash and the game has no progression. There's no reason to play beyond the also mediocre story because all of the things you can achieve are personal.
It's so annoying that the only choices you have for ffxiv threads are Ganker threads where it's 80% shitposting and doomposting homosexuals or /vg/ threads filled with erping coomers. At least the coomers play the game but both options are shit.
Mods will constantly ban people for muh generals with certain games but don't actually do anything about the handful of posters who belong on /vg/. Some games blatantly have litteral tripgays and avatargays on thread on Ganker but instead of banning them, the mods just delete the thread and hope they don't come back (Protip: They always come back).
Yea, but that's hardly even relevant. I have less of an issue with ritual posters and generalgays than I do with mindless shitposting Black folk who contribute even less value to any discussion.
O fashion master, I present an option to you: Sky Pirate's Gloves of Striking. (Gloves with a similar crest as the Darklight caligae don't seem to exist, but there's plenty of black or black-and-red gloves.)

Hempen pantalettes replaced with some nice cotton booty shorts. The only modding I feel the need for, fixing the Hank Hill ass square always uses for FF.
A lot of grievances people have with the cast could be fixed if they unironically introduced friendship/dating/relationship content with the main cast. With such a huge and ever growing cast, you will never get much of character development, especially when you constantly run around fighting.
Let's take Krile as example. Introducing her as PCT felt incredibly awkward and out of left field, especially her being so insecure. In the MSQ and her sidecontent, she has been shown to be absurdly resolute and self assured. If you had little weekly quests that you could do with the main cast, resulting in unlocking cutscenes and heart to heart events where she actually talks about what moves her, where she grows closer to her to be a confidant, show that she is actually a decent painter who maybe even taught Alphinaude when he was still a student? You would get where those feelings are from and you could offer to have WoL who have a high enough relationship with her to say something reassuring back there.
To this day I will not understand why they keep these characters so sheltered and locked away from actually interacting with the WoL.
>Don't avert your eyes from the darkness of reality. To live is to suffer, but to live is also to hope. You must strive forward no matter how grim it seems. >WAIT DON'T FEEL STRESSED OUT DON'T LOOK AT IT HERE ARE THE CUTE BNUUYS LOOK LOOK AT THE CHONKERS DON'T WORRY
What did Ishikawa mean by this?
The loporrits don't undermine the story at all. They are stewards for the survivors of the planet, if it should come to that. They are cute because that is comforting to people.
Explain how the existence of some bunnies “undermines” the story’s themes
Do you have a spergout every time there’s a lalafell on screen?
The crux of the story is that the Zodiark faction was trying to hide from the reality of the situation while Venat believed they could only overcome the actual trial if they resolved to stop hiding and face despair. So yes, the coping technique the writers shoved in to show up every time things get bad does, in fact, undermine the story's primary themes. >Do you have a spergout every time there’s a lalafell on screen?
No, moron, it's not the existence of a cute race that I take issue with. Shove your strawman up your ass.
But that post shows support for Venat's idea which is why he has a problem with the loporrits being used in a way that reflects what the Zodiark gays wanted to do
The rabbits being cute cartoon characters is thematically appropriate though. Plenty of stories break up the morose low points with a bit of comedy, you need to ease off the gas every so often or the reader gets acclimated to the misery. The only good argument is yes Japanese humor especially for anime games is real fricking bad. But the sentiment itself is fine, they just need to develop a sense of humor that isn't so stilted and awkward.
>there's never been a better time to get started
Yeah bro, enjoy playing solo for hundreds of hours sitting through cutscenes, walls of text and dead zones while everyone else is being social/doing current content, which you won't be able to do because everything is gated behind MSQ progression. Yeah, a good time to start would be when they at least do a complete overhaul for ARR.
Because they tried to force solo content in an MMO, and in an MMO setting the content feels extremely half baked.
It also does not help that LaD: Infinite Wealth is doing Island Sanctuary far better than XIV did, and that's just one of the many pieces of side content in LaD.
Reminder to my XIV brothers to play XI during this content drought to get a better sense of your heritage. The private server is an excellent way to experience the game if you never have before.
XI is strictly controller or keyboard. Mouse is so ass that it doesn't get included no matter what, but you can navigate with a KB alone just fine. Basically an unergonomic controller.
>island
Too little to actually do
Workshops were dumb and everyone just looked up to find the ideal stuff for the week (which far too fricking often meant fricking lavers)
No reason to actually visit others islands >Variant
These were fine, people just have shit taste.
i thought it was a filipino chick or some shit
didn't know it was an american man trying to be a spanish woman but i didn't think they sounded like a dude and i didn't find out until i came here
I think Island Sanctuary failed because it was a single player instance. People regularly do Skybuilder Fêtes because they can chill and chat and emote while doing so. Likewise with farming mobs in Eureka or Bozja. Hitting rocks hundreds of times with a shovel alone is boring.
I unironically believe variant should just replace normal x0 dungeons now, especially since they only want to release 1 each patch >but less content
Make it bigger and with more routes, normal dungeons haven't been interesting since ARR anyway
I like mmorpg group mechanics tho, having just variant would be disappointing. Imo they need to just stop worrying about people playing the game in a way they didn’t intend. Have weird pulls, let ppl pull 5 packs into the boss, etc. The latest dungeon is a giant snooze fest because it never surprises you.
>mouthbreathers that want a solo rpg complained bozja was too hard because you had to visit an interactable before nightfall or hold a button to walk past a sleeping mob >devs once again utterly cave to the lowest common denominator >they get bored and go back to WoW >the actual FFXIV players have nothing to do.
to be fair the sound aggro thing is never talked about in game. like ever. you can rp walk from the 2nd to 3rd boss of brayflox's longstop without aggroing anything, for example. blood aggro also doesn't apply outside of eureka and bozja as well. and its not even consistent with things like deep dungeon in which sight and sound aggro exists but blood aggro doesn't
>the only new additions in Genesis II are the Carbuncle earring and the 90 guaranteed portal treasure maps.
At this point the only content I'll need 'grind' for is the Yokai Watch event if it does end up returning this year.
GOLLY GEE LET"S MAKE AN ENTIRE EVENT THAT REVOLVES AROUND US PUTTING RARE AND HARD TO OBTAIN REWARDS FROM OLDER CONTENT SO THAT WE COMPLETLEY INVALIDATE PLAYER'S HARD WORK THEY WENT THROUGH TO OBTAIN SAID REWARDS IN THE PAST AND GIVE PEOPLE NO REASON TO EVER DO THAT CONTENT EVER AGAIN AT THE SAME TIME

>Island Sanctuary
Run in circles and press a button to mine materials or capture monsters, then go back to your base, accumulate resources to expand its progression, and do mobile game tier sweatshop numbers productions to get more currency for more expansion, nothing more. It's empty, it's tiresome, it has no real depth since the game literally spells out for you mechanically what you have to do to optimize payouts, and ultimately it was a gigantic waste of time since it doesn't even really become a truly personal apartment / home / other equivalent and is separated from the rest of the game by a teleport NPC at a specific spot. >Variant Dungeons
Cool on paper, a multi-choice dungeon that asks players to experiment and explore a bit, but the reality is it's Choose Your Own Adventure stapled ontop of regular linear dungeon lines, with some stupidly vague conditions attached. It can feel really lazy for that at times, especially since you'll refight a lot of bosses depending on directional route but with a different attack on top. Once you've completed them, they're so segregated from the rest of the content that there's no reason to ever try again except for selling shit. >Bonus Game: Eureka Orthos
It's a more bland and less interesting deep dungeon, nothing was ever going to dethrone Palace of the Dead unless it was a complete and utter mechanical overhaul and a radically different experience but it wasn't beyond tons of insta-kill enemies out of the gate. Plus being post-EW content doomed it to not even be good for grinding.
>Make a variant daily roulette >Make it so all rewards there arent tradeable >Let people do variants at the first level of an expansion instead of max level only >Delete the Savage version and put its reward(s) into the regular Criterion
There, hire me.
Honestly I think a properly balanced normal dungeon version of Variant/Criterion added to the EW roulette just so there's some fricking variety at endgame would go a long way, then you can axe the Savage because it's just a moronic version of Criterion and rework it into the hardcore version overall.
Everyone is gonna end up agreeing with the warmonger claimants motives when he reveals that his main goal is wiping out the Garlean problem once and for all and we're only in conflict with him because the Twins think they can fix the fascists with hugs and soup.
You can ggez Suzaku with an unsynced party. Not sure if you can solo her but you might be able to with tank invuln shenanigans, Byakko's possible with that.

How do people still play this, year after year? I did the entire MSQ around the time of the exodus, even went through Endwalker and did a couple savage tiers. But now I'm just sick of it. The loop wears so thin, so fast, and I have zero desire to ever resub, let alone buy a new expansion. I honestly feel like it's the most hollow game I've ever sunk any real time into.
When Endwalker came out, reviews were positive but they also the said the formula was starting to get stagnated
Dawntrail doesn't have anything new except for the graphics update, no even like a useful or shitty gimmic like >HW: Flying >SB: Diving (the useless one) >Shb: Trust System >EW: Escort quests? lmao
Clearly they are running out of ideas, they cant even add more content to the MSQ like just ONE extra zone, dungeon or trial, I'm tired of playing a focused story game and knowing exactly when I will fight a big boss.
I think they have too many jobs personally.
It makes me wonder how they're able to balance all of them. The game definitely seems like it might be or is suffering from scope creep.
Lots of races, jobs, assets to make, balance and design.
Assets are scalable, but they do have to accommodate the ears, horns, differences in physiology. The actual armor models have to have clean animation weighting and rigging, so hands don't clip through sleeves, or torsos through pants, and on top of that different versions of one model to mitigate clipping and for both genders.
swimming could've been cool, but it feels as chopped up and janky as the rest of the game. the devs are so incompetent they couldn't even let you swim below water without an autistic loading transition. we're talking mechanics that nintendo games for babies were doing right in the mid 90s. it's so embarrassing.
>I'm tired of playing a focused story game and knowing exactly when I will fight a big boss.
Endwalker would have been perfect for this. Give Anima a proper trial, you think it's over, and then BAM surprise Zodiark.
Yeah I have a feeling a lot of shit getting panned in Endwalker is gonna drive them further back into "safe" territory with their content, they're gonna stick with what they know works.
>hey man can you make something new for dinner tonight? >okay here i took a fat shit inside a meatloaf pan and baked it >uhhh nevermind can you go back to what you were doing before? >OH WOW I GIVE YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND YOU JUST COMPLAIN ANYWAY HUH
>news articles complaining about stagnation and the game "needing" to variate don't crop up until after mass WoW migration waves in late Stormblood and Shadowbringers
Experimenting with the formula doesn't mean drastic changes, like I said, since Heavensward the number of cutscenes increased but we still have 6 zones, 6 dungeons + 2 endgame dungeons and 3 trials, is really that hard to add an extra one when the game is a his peak?
I don’t see what the point would be, especially since it seems like you are just talking about X.0 patches, and the devs don’t want to spend too long on making an expansion, of course like you said we’ve been able to get longer cutscenes which is good, I suspect starting in 8.0 we’ll only get 1 new job in exchange for an extra extreme trial and a few more dungeons
Well the point would be to spice up the things a little in the MSQ, like
>I'm tired of playing a focused story game and knowing exactly when I will fight a big boss.
Endwalker would have been perfect for this. Give Anima a proper trial, you think it's over, and then BAM surprise Zodiark.
Because it's more of an MORPG like Destiny 2 where the plot is single player and the rest of the content meant to take up your time is instanced multiplayer shit or grinding for things.
It's exhausting having to playthrough both the MSQ, blue side quests and all the raid content just to catch up to where everyone else is. I'd imagine the non exhausted people are just the ones who've been playing the game patch to patch so they've had long breaks inbetween each content dump.
I don't want to go through the post MSQ slog, the main story had too much god damn filler.
Peak WoWbrainrot, There is nothing to "Catch up" to moron.
When you play something like Elden Ring do you just sit there going "Man I need to rush through this and reach the end so I'm caught up to everyone else".

FFXIV is the gayest MMO in existence. 99% of the male characters look like literal fruitcakes who spend 3 hours dressing up their hair before adventuring >and generic
It's the quintessential WoW clone. They literally had to remake the entire game in 2.0 to make it as generic and WoWlike as possible lmao.

variant dungeons were great tho
They are garbage that just cater to the .1% of the playerbase that does trial and error circle dodging.
ok
Savage participation is like 20-55% depending on server. Crit is another fill in the midcore gap people keep asking for.
Chocobo was 55% on Asphodelos and 35% on the current tier.
wow, 35% for clearing a final tier sounds pretty good.
JP is just full of raidloggers.
Participation is not clear rate
>midcore gap
crit is harder than savage and has abysmally low participation rates, it's content for no one
>crit is harder than savage
look at superchain theory and tell me criterion matches anythign like that. or the hell slam from pandemonium.
>crit is harder than savage
I'm not sure why people say that, just the fact that the fights are 5 mins long and you have 4 less players to bodycheck frick up makes it easier baseline

>With it's main competitor World of Warcraft being decent again
lol wut.
And don't lie, if square was able to release a new expansion every 18 months you would be hyped af.

of course since it's not a literal dumpster fire like bfa or shadowlands journalists act like it's the second coming of legion
FFXIV cultist are always saying "Now's a great time to start?"
Good thing they're optional

People wanted island adventure to be like a farming game or animal crossing. They got 5 minutes a day clicking on menues and fricking off. Variant dungeons were badly balanced and the rewards were too shit for them. You basically have a few hours of content that nobody wants to repeat and I assume it takes a while to design.
Horny mommies
Jarvis google Harvey Randall early life..
>another thread where anon confuses variant and criterion
It's not hard. Variant is the fun but easy puzzle mode that everyone played. Criterion is the overturned savage raid content that 5% played. Criterion (savage) is the needlessly punishing challenge with no rewards (until the last one) that less than 1% played.

>Variant/Criterion
I love the game to death and my house shackles me to my subscription but XIV has gotten worse in all ways with the exception of high end raiding.
did you intend to prove him right so quickly?
I just want to know what kind of mindset the "nuuuu doomsissies go have a nice day!" crowd has.
>Worst expansion since HW.
What did he mean by this.
Every expac since HW has been worse and worse, HW is absolutely the game at its peak.
you clearly weren't around when HW dropped - shit was a clusterfrick
Yes I was, and it was a great experience.
The frick you on about?
>and it was a great experience
No it fricking wasn't you larping homosexual.
>b-b-but the youtube man told me...!
frick are you talking about
Yes, it was.
List some examples and maybe I'll agree with you, dipshit.
Youtube man told him that everyone hated Heavensward and "the game almost died again" (he thinks this is because of Gordias) therefore it real
you're full of shit
Stormblood was the peak THO
>EW has been the worst expansion since HW
Its like reverse Sb for me. I adored the MSQ 6.0-6.2 but really couldn't vibe with the actual content on offer. Meanwhile SBs MSQ started to pick up pace at 4.3 but the content was pretty fun.
>make something new
>it's dogshit
>people say it's dogshit
>WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW LITERALLY CANNOT PLEASE YOU PEOPLE HUH
Outside of Criterion it was the same formula as ever. Island Sanctuary is the casual crafter content this expansion just as it was with Doma and Ishgard Restoration in STB and SHB.
Criterion ended up being a failure because it failed to actually appeal to anyone.
>normal mode is monotonous and outside of the mount there is no real reason to ever touch it again
>criterion and savage are locked behind being BIS for the current raid tier which takes months of grinding even in an optimal scenario
>savage has literally no difference in mechanics from criterion difficulty while still mandating you need BiS to undertake it
>being 4-man content means it is harder to find anyone willing to do it outside of an immediate friend group
It's still lame that it's required to do the savage version though. It should just be ilvl synced.
They need to add a roulette for Variant dungeons, they added an extra roulette for EW so they arent against doing it
>>try new things
hate it
skill issue, troony
>variant dungeons
shit
>island sanctuary
facebook-tier shit
>world of warcraft being decent again
lmao
mmos are dead
At least the lala avatargays get new images once in a few threads.
Got to try better than that, bait-kun.
island sanctuary felt a bit schizophrenic. it feels like they had two ideas with mindless gathering and the workshop minigame and just haphazardly sewed them together. i think it came out fine and it will be one of those things that generates heaps of gil for a long time as in the future, the time investment required will be too high for new players. though maybe they'll double or triple exp gain. there was also a lot of dissonance with them, as the playerbase seemed to think of it as instanced housing even though they repeatedly were told it wasn't the case. 'animal crossing light' was shot down by yoshi-p early on iirc.
variants are fine. the issue with them is the same with all puzzle based content in that there's very little replayability involved with it. should combine variants with deep dungeon.
the sad thing about the situation is the same group that is bleating about these experiments being failures are the same ones that are b***hing about the content schedule being predictable and stagnant
community sentiment definitely shaped what people thought island sanctuary would be.
I still won't forget seeing a clip of zepla squeeling like a fricking moron in that dumb voice of hers about how maybe it could be instanced housing.
>they could have made it instanced housing but lol no
because it took the game in a terrible direction and tried to make it a single player rpg.
More
that bite mark makes no sense
endwalker should have been drawn/fleshed out over the course of all of the 6.* patches
lots of people, including myself, left the game because of the moronic pacing and empty pay off
Endwalker should've had lasting consequences on the main cast.
It's the apocalypse and all we see is pajeets blowing up and then the rabbits sweep in for instant comic relief. The game just doesn't have claws anymore.
it never had claws
>Louisiox
>Hauchie
>Papa
>Raubahn needing a hand
>Y'shtola and Thancred DO get crippled on their first fakeout death
>Louisiox
>Hauchie
>Papa
literal whos nobody gives a frick about except for the devs
>Raubahn
not even he gives a frick about his arm
>Y'shtola and Thancred DO get crippled
the frick they do. shtola has detective vision and thancred is still op as frick in combat for no reason.
>thancred is still op as frick in combat for no reason
this has always bugged me
Y'shtola is actually blind, but the writers very rarely reference it.
First Ryne and now Y'shtola and presumably Urianger are prepping his cartridges and his stealth stuff is maybe Garlean tech?
who honestly cares about those first 3 characters
>it never had claws
>XIV has a staggeringly high body count compared to all other FF games.
Which is it sisters? We need to decide on a narrative here before the chuddies catch on...
yeah. what if we just brutally murdered ryne in front of thancred? then i could show my friends that the game i like is COOL and ARTISTIC and GRITTY and GREY
>you think the storyline about facing the apocalypse and striving forward in the face of overwhelming dread should have actually had some dread so that you get to actually feel the triumph of winning in the end?
>THAT JUST MEANS YOU WANT TO KILL SCIONS FOR NO REASON YEAH YOU JUST WATCH GAME OF THRONES RIGHT YOU JUST WANT WOL TO TURN EVIL AND RIP RYNE'S GUTS OUT AND FRICK HER RIGHT YEAH FRICK HER BLEEDING HOLES I KNEW IT YOU'RE FRICKING DERANGED YOU JUST WANT TO CUT ALISAIE'S HEAD OFF AND MAKE ALPHINAUD FRICK THE NECKHOLE AT GUNPOINT RIGHT YOU SICK FRICK
endwalker in no way would have been improved if the scions hadn't come back in UT, etc. or was them making you think they would kill a baby on screen not good enough for you?
>endwalker in no way would have been improved if the scions hadn't come back in UT
Why do you keep making up arguments that weren't said? Are you a child, a woman, or a moron?
because i'm just extrapolating your statement to its logical point. if during the cutscene where the sharlayans are watching the skies post launch and Zenos talks to Krile, the skies had turned red and Fourchenault had turned into a blasphemy, the story wouldn't have been better
>because i'm just extrapolating your statement to its logical point.
No actually you're just making shit up.
>if during the cutscene where the sharlayans are watching the skies post launch and Zenos talks to Krile, the skies had turned red and Fourchenault had turned into a blasphemy
Who said this? Why do you keep making up things nobody said? Do you think this makes you look smart or something?
alright then, what would give EW more claws that doesn't involve the examples i've provided?
For one, having Urianger struggle against the dynamis bombardment. Instead of baiting with an unnamed baby you never see again, have the player question if one of the main party members is actually going to succumb because of the shit he went through, as foreshadowed when you first get to Sharlayan when he's stressing over Moenbryda again because of her parents. But instead the entire party is completely unaffected despite him later going "oh yeah I've been suicidal this whole time lol".
Another thing, not having the Loporrits show up to undermine every stressful situation with Japanese comedy. You don't feel the triumph of overcoming Endsinger at the end because the writers never actually let you sit in despair and feel the weight of what was happening.
urianger doesn't make a lot of sense to me to struggle with that because he's suicidal but the thing that made him that way happened a fairly long time ago by the story's reckoning, it isn't a sharp emotional spike the way every other blasphemy was made
The entire thing resurfaced when he got to Sharlayan because he was dreading to face Moenbryda's parents.
i would probably think that was really cheap if that's what made him start putting on black smoke compared to three elephant kids watching their mother transform into a hideous ogre, or matsya realizing he might fail to save an infant that is itself in emotional distress
broke rocks in prison for fifteen years/10
Silently holding in your grief and guilt for months to the point of wanting to kill himself because he feels he got the love of his life killed isn't a small thing. Reminding you of it when he's stressing in Sharlayan is just a good lead in to have him start struggling to hold onto himself when the barrier comes down.
well yeah it's not a small thing but it's not an aggressive explosion like the other transformations is the point
suffering from negative emotions == losing control over them. g'raha and the wol show great concern at the pond when urianger tells them his plan. the lopporits serve as comic relief and as the race of enlightened saviors.
>sit in despair and feel the weight of what was happening
if you can't sympathize with your character, who does not know that he's in a story and in an mmo and he will eventually triumph because the game must continue, then i don't believe you're capable of understanding what makes a story good. i've seen you post this several times and the fact that you keep repeating it makes me believe you actually believe this is good storytelling. its not.
do you know how you get out of true despair in storytelling without any brevity? that the reader/viewer/player KNOWS there's no path forward and that its impossible to succeed, thus satisfying the notion of 'true despair'? deus ex machina. and that sort of ass pull is exactly what you're claiming to be against, because you are saying that its unrealistic for urianger to act certain way.
finally, you faking urianger's death by threatening him to be a blasphemy is the exact same thing as matsya and the child in thavnair 2
>suffering from negative emotions == losing control over them
Suicidal thoughts =/= feeling a little negative
>if you can't sympathize with your character, who does not know that he's in a story and in an mmo and he will eventually triumph because the game must continue
Try reading my entire post next time.
>Suicidal thoughts =/= feeling a little negative
actual strawman
>It's not about me knowing it's a game and I'm going to win at the end. The player/viewer/reader has to be invested in the story. That's the point of it. Stories are framed to put you in a state of mind so you empathize with the characters. When bad things are happening, you're supposed to be worried. When good triumphs in the end, you're supposed to be relieved because everything you just went through is finally over.
so YOU aren't feeling these emotions, therefore the fact that other people feel them doesn't matter because its a poorly told story?
>I don't know what kind of mental gymnastics you had to pull to come to the conclusion that feeling dread in a story means that the win condition has to be impossible and there must be a deus ex machina to overcome that. The goal should be clear, but there should be a difficult path ahead to overcome. When the characters don't struggle, there's no adventure.
the characters do struggle. jsut because you're not getting dune 1984 whispers reading the script as to what emotions they're feeling doesn't mean that the character isn't going through some shit.
what do you think despair means. the very emotion that drove the endsinger to accelerate the heat death of the universe because she saw no way out of it. to experience true despair which is what you claim, you'd have to give up. and the only way back from the player giving up on the game is intervention from beyond the fourth wall, ie deus ex machina. which is simply not an option when it comes to storytelling especially in interactive media
>so YOU aren't feeling these emotions, therefore the fact that other people feel them doesn't matter because its a poorly told story?
>No, you have to make the player feel like maybe they should give up, or to feel stressed about moving to the next part of the journey because something horrible might happen to somebody they care about.
to those who are watching this argument, this is the crux right here. the meat of his shit opinion. he claims that a well told story is one in which the reader doesn't want to finish it. this is a fallacious statement because a well told story has the opposite effect, he is just flat out incorrect.
i am claiming victory in this 'argument' and i advise my opponent to analyze storytelling methods, what makes horror stories alluring, how to increase tension, writing methods to create hooks and twists. i hope that you can one day understand why you're wrong and can enjoy fiction for what it is, and why whenever you post this opinion of yours you immediately get assailed with GRRM posting and why GRRM is a shit fantasy writer.
>he claims that a well told story is one in which the reader doesn't want to finish it.
You have no idea what makes a compelling story.
>a story about continuing on through despair shouldn't test your will to do so
Sisters I thought we were supposed to WALK...
>Wanting consequences means wanting asspull tragedies
Do you ever get tired of arguing with your moronic strawman?
if all criticism and extrapolation of your statement appears to be as strawman, then maybe your argument is already so weak as to appear to be a strawman from the beginning
Nice refutation anon! Destroyed everyone with facts and logic!
>actually if i invent a strawman it's your fault
lol
yes, if his argument can't be interacted with without someone claiming its a strawman, that means its a bad argument at the start
It's over

what the actual frick
A Palworld thread died for this garbage dead game.
because MMOs were filled with nerds who like video games and now they are full of moronic sexually confused children and 30+ year olds who ERP with those children
That's just what all nerd culture is now THOUGH
Troons took over everywhere too
Noob question.
How important is leveling up the tradeskill jobs?
Is crafted shit as necessary in this game as in other MMOs? Only ask because I rarely see them brought up in discussion, so just curious.
Not required at all.
There's no reason to play beyond the also mediocre story because all of the things you can achieve are personal.
>game is trash but please come back and paypig for us!!!
Bozjabros won
Content enjoyers won
Doomposters won
Limsa idlers lost
passive consumables need to be gotten rid of. as does the revive restriction on BA.
post your wol you cowards
Thanks for reminding me to take screencaps of my new glam
I need the benchmark now.
I got Darklight caligae at the recommendation of a Gankerirgin last night for a Monk glamour. I am satisfied with the result.
Christ anon could you PLEASE stop being such a fashion disaster and get gloved that have red markings just like your boots for SOME consistency?
I'm working on it, it's the same picture from yesterday. Patience my son.
O fashion master, I present an option to you: Sky Pirate's Gloves of Striking. (Gloves with a similar crest as the Darklight caligae don't seem to exist, but there's plenty of black or black-and-red gloves.)
I didn't get a response to this so I gotta wing it, come anonymous negative feedback or high water.
*boops nose*
Stop that, I just got sick of trying to fap to retainers so I started playing as a sexy bunny instead. I'm not a cross dresser lmao
nice thighs
I want to flip her skirt up
Her mounts do it constantly, can't wait to unlock the new dance too but I'm waiting to do the quest with my wife. She wasn't maxed on rep yet
I really wish the game had actual frilly dress armor and more skirts that fit with plate armor. It's really hard to make them work.
Same, I was trying to make it look like Sophitia's outfit from Soul Calibur and this was the closest I could manage.

sorry anon you picked the bara furgay race, there was a notable deterioration in male roegadyn population when male hrothgar released
Agreed. The hunch is really too much in cutscenes too, it looks like his back is on a swivel when he turns.
I hope the femhroth works better in scenes.
The females' hunch is very slight, but I worry it will frick with sheathed weapon positioning to the point of clipping.
Wuk Lamat in the files has one unique idle pose, all the others are ripped from female Highlander though those could just be placeholder.
I didn't notice one, i'll do my research before i use that fantasia for sure.
Top row is fem Highlander default stance, bottom is femHroth default stance on a fem Highlander. Bottom right is the femHroth unique (I think) idle stance variant.
I see it, Not bad at all , all things considered.
Facial expressions are in now too, but I can of course only preview them on Wuk's derpy face.

Just use the Glamourer plugin to actually test out stuff. The only thing it doesn't cover is combat voice but you can use other tools like Anamanesis to do the job. Hope you're not a c*nsolegay.
Criterion is absolutely harder than Savage. Mechs happen faster and the timing is tighter too. If you think Superchain is hard then you haven't tried Aloalo Savage.

*slaps the arse on the right*
A lot of grievances people have with the cast could be fixed if they unironically introduced friendship/dating/relationship content with the main cast.
To this day I will not understand why they keep these characters so sheltered and locked away from actually interacting with the WoL.
wow, I've never seen someone use the commander helm before in a nice glam.
Wish I could dye it though. Undyeable set pieces with insane requirements to get should always be dyeable.

Everyone I Don't Like Is Trans: A South American's Guide To Arguing On Ganker
The loporrits don't undermine the story at all. They are stewards for the survivors of the planet, if it should come to that. They are cute because that is comforting to people.
Shove your strawman up your ass.
levity for the sake of story pacing = "hiding from the truth" get a fricking grip my dude
Did you remember to watch out for that crazy guy Fandaniel?
LOOK, IT'S A TRANCER! IT'S A FRICKING TRANCER!!!
But that post shows support for Venat's idea which is why he has a problem with the loporrits being used in a way that reflects what the Zodiark gays wanted to do
Explain how the existence of some bunnies “undermines” the story’s themes
Do you have a spergout every time there’s a lalafell on screen?
I hope 7.0 gives us nicer pits
luv lumine
Because they tried to force solo content in an MMO, and in an MMO setting the content feels extremely half baked.
It also does not help that LaD: Infinite Wealth is doing Island Sanctuary far better than XIV did, and that's just one of the many pieces of side content in LaD.
Reminder to my XIV brothers to play XI during this content drought to get a better sense of your heritage. The private server is an excellent way to experience the game if you never have before.
I tried once and was so immediately put off by the control-scheme and menuing that I gave up.
I had to use a controller to play XI. Feels horrible with M&K
XI is strictly controller or keyboard. Mouse is so ass that it doesn't get included no matter what, but you can navigate with a KB alone just fine. Basically an unergonomic controller.
It's an older MMO designed for a console so unconventional controls are a given. It's not hard to adapt, and addons help.
The controls aren't even unconventional, you just play it like any single player FF game instead of an MMO.
i'm trying to get back into XI but SE is making it damn near impossible
Play on a 75 era server.
That's what I'm currently doing. I'm on official server though.
Private servers are an awful way to experience a y story elements though. None of them go past ToAU in any meaningful way.

IS was boring and after the initial release, had very few rewards despite upping the grind
It wasn’t engaging, didn’t really allow you much roleplaying and didnt have the social aspects of just going to a guys house
At it’s core it failed to appeal to anyone who loves the game. Also you couldn’t fight anything.
Spacing.
Is the woman at bottom left is that ff14 translator?
It looks like Aimi, yeah. What's this?
FF7 Rebirth event. She's probably working as a translator for kitase and hamaguchi.
I think Island Sanctuary failed because it was a single player instance. People regularly do Skybuilder Fêtes because they can chill and chat and emote while doing so. Likewise with farming mobs in Eureka or Bozja. Hitting rocks hundreds of times with a shovel alone is boring.
For me, it's Meat and Mead II
i know its a restriction of the medium you're using but this is pretty bad

Enough with the furgays, hrothshits opened a gate that never should have been opened
isn't this the same guy who was complaining about xiv not patting him on the head enough for being a gay man?
fake spoilers should be a bannable offense
Variant is great, criterion flopped
Lots of free stuff with island sanctuary but no element of self-expression
I unironically believe variant should just replace normal x0 dungeons now, especially since they only want to release 1 each patch
>but less content
Make it bigger and with more routes, normal dungeons haven't been interesting since ARR anyway
I like mmorpg group mechanics tho, having just variant would be disappointing. Imo they need to just stop worrying about people playing the game in a way they didn’t intend. Have weird pulls, let ppl pull 5 packs into the boss, etc. The latest dungeon is a giant snooze fest because it never surprises you.

The worst part is the fix or replacement was… NOTHING
to be fair the sound aggro thing is never talked about in game. like ever. you can rp walk from the 2nd to 3rd boss of brayflox's longstop without aggroing anything, for example. blood aggro also doesn't apply outside of eureka and bozja as well. and its not even consistent with things like deep dungeon in which sight and sound aggro exists but blood aggro doesn't

At this point the only content I'll need 'grind' for is the Yokai Watch event if it does end up returning this year.
we got 7 months to fill, it will probably be back.
Why is the Innocence Gwiber not there? Why do they do this? Why do they break their reward paterns
GOLLY GEE LET"S MAKE AN ENTIRE EVENT THAT REVOLVES AROUND US PUTTING RARE AND HARD TO OBTAIN REWARDS FROM OLDER CONTENT SO THAT WE COMPLETLEY INVALIDATE PLAYER'S HARD WORK THEY WENT THROUGH TO OBTAIN SAID REWARDS IN THE PAST AND GIVE PEOPLE NO REASON TO EVER DO THAT CONTENT EVER AGAIN AT THE SAME TIME
There's nothing rare or hard to obtain on that list albeit
majority of the players in this game are too poor to afford the antelope doe horn for around 20 million gil.
Why didn't they get it three or four years ago grinding Ishgard restoration?
holy shit I'm dump, mistook it from the zadnor doe. nevermind this list is shit.
Because crafting is for nerds
It used to be, they ruined it for morons

I ain't bothering with this.
Maker's mark was the dumbest fricking shit
While I dislike how easy they made it to level crafters and gatherers in ShB, 60-70 step rotations relying on tricks of the trade procs should never have existed
I derive an inordinate amount of satisfaction from being entirely self sufficient in this game. Never need to visit a vendor for anything not tomestone related.
Doe Horn is like 500k, will drop to 200k during the event.
Who the frick is paying 20 million for something that cost like 8000 scripts, how would craflets even have that much gil anyway?
I am waiting for the day they put Savage mounts into the Mogtome event
What does it matter? We're going to die eventually anyway.
It's literally condensing drops you could get from like a few hours of grinding the same extremes/savages on loop from like 6 years ago.
All that shit is easy to get now, that's the issue , where the frick is Innocence's dragon
Innocence dragon is easy to get, usually groups up 24/7
I'm too good at the game to win rolls, I rather just wait for the moogle events, I'm not clearing 99 times
Think about how old everything on that list is.
YEARS LATER
No new gwibs, easy farm event since most of this shit is old as hell.

Eureka Orthos had a kino final boss so it was cool.
potd is just 200 floors of ARR trash mobs, what was less interesting about EO?
i guess 100 floors of shit is better than 200 floors of shit
>Make a variant daily roulette
>Make it so all rewards there arent tradeable
>Let people do variants at the first level of an expansion instead of max level only
>Delete the Savage version and put its reward(s) into the regular Criterion
There, hire me.
Honestly I think a properly balanced normal dungeon version of Variant/Criterion added to the EW roulette just so there's some fricking variety at endgame would go a long way, then you can axe the Savage because it's just a moronic version of Criterion and rework it into the hardcore version overall.

Is there a version of Suzaku's longsword without the fire effect?
The one from the actual EX trial and not the crafted variant.
Well that's too much of a bother
What a dork
Just wait for dawntrail, level 100 will be enough to solo suzaku
You can ggez Suzaku with an unsynced party. Not sure if you can solo her but you might be able to with tank invuln shenanigans, Byakko's possible with that.
yeah, get the ex drop.
Yeah? all primals weapons have their normal versions but you need beat their extreme trials several times to get tokens for it
I love all the amoebas defending this saying "i-it's supposed to look bad because it's painted!!!"
It's not even painted. It's digital.
Can't believe Mario Sunshine does paint better than XIV.
Why not? Gen 6 was the golden age of vidya. It did everything better.
you mean a game designed around a mechanic does it well? shocking
Super Mario Sunshine is designed around platforming. The paint minigame is barely a footnote.
its not like pictomancer isnt designed around paint you fricking moron
It's not, you don't draw, you don't have ink mechanics. It is an aesthetic to skills you press in a rotation, like all MMO classes.
>you don't draw, you don't have ink mechanics
You don't do those in Mario Sunshine either
>It is an aesthetic to skills you press in a rotation, like all FFXIV classes.
ftfy
name a fricking MMO where you don't have a rotation
Planetside 2
>shoot gun
Ok you got me.
WRONG
FFXI
skill chains count
They don't.
>WRONG
You are wrong.
so do you just break the skill chain because you want?
Using a skill in tandem with a teammate is not a skill rotation.
Do you just mash the keys randomly?
I don't think you actually have any idea how FFXI is played.
the fricking mental gymnastics
>i use skill X after my partner uses skill Y
>skillchain complete
That's not a rotation. You either don't know what a rotation is or you don't know how FFXI is played.
in a tab target game, the rotation is what you're supposed to do during downtime. in WoW they call it your "filler rotation". ffxiv makes it the entire class gameplay on an endless deterministic loop lol
>FFXIV player so mindbroken by the gameplay railroad that they can't comprehend pressing buttons intentionally and situationally that don't fit into a perfect GCD spreadsheet sequence
lmao
How do people still play this, year after year? I did the entire MSQ around the time of the exodus, even went through Endwalker and did a couple savage tiers. But now I'm just sick of it. The loop wears so thin, so fast, and I have zero desire to ever resub, let alone buy a new expansion. I honestly feel like it's the most hollow game I've ever sunk any real time into.
A mix of addiction and delusion
When Endwalker came out, reviews were positive but they also the said the formula was starting to get stagnated
Dawntrail doesn't have anything new except for the graphics update, no even like a useful or shitty gimmic like
>HW: Flying
>SB: Diving (the useless one)
>Shb: Trust System
>EW: Escort quests?
There are only 4 races
Male midlander
Female midlander
Male roe
Lalafell
>Au Ra
>Viera
>Hrothgar
Assets are scalable, but they do have to accommodate the ears, horns, differences in physiology. The actual armor models have to have clean animation weighting and rigging, so hands don't clip through sleeves, or torsos through pants, and on top of that different versions of one model to mitigate clipping and for both genders.
They don't do any of those things
Accommodating for horns and ears? what?
Have you ever looked at hrothgars wearing armors?
Sounds like a scope creep issue then (on top of laziness).
Never got the hate for swimming, its one of the many reasons I like reach and ruby sea a lot
Swimming is okay, the useless thing is diving that they even abandoned
swimming could've been cool, but it feels as chopped up and janky as the rest of the game. the devs are so incompetent they couldn't even let you swim below water without an autistic loading transition. we're talking mechanics that nintendo games for babies were doing right in the mid 90s. it's so embarrassing.
Honestly without looking directly to WoW or other MMOs for ideas, what big gimmick or concept can they even add to mix things up for this?
world pvp 🙂
Who want this beside brazilians?
Like perma-death, it's one of those things people act like they want until they actually get it and experience it.
>I'm tired of playing a focused story game and knowing exactly when I will fight a big boss.
Endwalker would have been perfect for this. Give Anima a proper trial, you think it's over, and then BAM surprise Zodiark.
>they need to experiment with the formula!!!
they experiment with the formula
>NOOOO NOT LIKE THAT GO BACK TO HOW IT USED TO BE
Yeah I have a feeling a lot of shit getting panned in Endwalker is gonna drive them further back into "safe" territory with their content, they're gonna stick with what they know works.
>hey man can you make something new for dinner tonight?
>okay here i took a fat shit inside a meatloaf pan and baked it
>uhhh nevermind can you go back to what you were doing before?
>OH WOW I GIVE YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND YOU JUST COMPLAIN ANYWAY HUH
>food analogy
>news articles complaining about stagnation and the game "needing" to variate don't crop up until after mass WoW migration waves in late Stormblood and Shadowbringers
bro is getting mad players want new quality content, simply baffling
I’m mad about newbies shitting up the game and complaining about things no one actually cared about, yes
Experimenting with the formula doesn't mean drastic changes, like I said, since Heavensward the number of cutscenes increased but we still have 6 zones, 6 dungeons + 2 endgame dungeons and 3 trials, is really that hard to add an extra one when the game is a his peak?
This cutscene needed a big budget, sorry gaijin.
>so assblasted xe has to bring it up in reply chains that have nothing to do with xem
Western games had gay shit since the 90s, how are you still not desensitized since that's what you seem to like
I don’t see what the point would be, especially since it seems like you are just talking about X.0 patches, and the devs don’t want to spend too long on making an expansion, of course like you said we’ve been able to get longer cutscenes which is good, I suspect starting in 8.0 we’ll only get 1 new job in exchange for an extra extreme trial and a few more dungeons
Well the point would be to spice up the things a little in the MSQ, like
said
I disagree, I don’t understand your point of view at all. The amount of work for such little gain is pointless
>Adds all these new 'features'
>You still cannot play with a friend from start to finish
Great "MMO" you have there lmao
Only reason you can't, is because you have no friends.
anon, 90% of the MSQ is watching cutscenes alone.
you're running a story where you are a central character not running side quests, stupid WoWtist
Because it's more of an MORPG like Destiny 2 where the plot is single player and the rest of the content meant to take up your time is instanced multiplayer shit or grinding for things.
And that's worked out for it so far. Folks really love to hyperbole about this shit, just because its exhausted you doesn't mean it has everyone.
It's exhausting having to playthrough both the MSQ, blue side quests and all the raid content just to catch up to where everyone else is. I'd imagine the non exhausted people are just the ones who've been playing the game patch to patch so they've had long breaks inbetween each content dump.
>catch up
FOMObrain is a disease
You need to catch up if you want to do any content that doesn't feel insultingly easy, with a complete class that isn't missing half of its buttons.
of course the game is insultingly easy after you've played it for 10000 hours anon
also, b***hing about difficulty in mmos is the ultimate in undeserved elitism. behold, the king of the baby pool
XIV is probably teh easiest MMO in the world to "catch up" in. You can hit endgame and be raid ready in like five minutes.
I don't want to go through the post MSQ slog, the main story had too much god damn filler.
Elden Ring is not a live service game, what the frick kind of moronic comparrison is this?
Good thing you can do pretty much the entirety of the content except the MSQ trials right out of the gate from completing 6.0 then
You have to play through the post MSQ to unlock the alliance raids, t'was painful.
Only like half of 6.1, that's barely anything.
That's still half too long
Peak WoWbrainrot, There is nothing to "Catch up" to moron.
When you play something like Elden Ring do you just sit there going "Man I need to rush through this and reach the end so I'm caught up to everyone else".
Mental.

How come LOTRO is a better MMO than FFHIV?
It's actually an MMO for one
I literally do not hear about LOTRO, GW2 or NGS unless some thirdworlder is running his mouth in FFXIV threads, to say the least of BDO, New World or that Riot MMO that's in dev hell
their handful of fans basically confine themselves exclusively to vg
Who knows
Who cares
Mmo are a trash genre and the only reason XIV is good is because it's not like them
>XIV is good
I accept your concession
Were you too stupid to answer the question?
What question? Why XIV market itself as one? Because it is unfortunately one, it is simply less gay and generic than the ones you like
Now go back to your asiaticslops, you have grinding to do
>it is simply less gay
FFXIV is the gayest MMO in existence. 99% of the male characters look like literal fruitcakes who spend 3 hours dressing up their hair before adventuring
>and generic
It's the quintessential WoW clone. They literally had to remake the entire game in 2.0 to make it as generic and WoWlike as possible lmao.
>Mmo are a trash genre
Then why does FFXIV market itself as one?
>XIV is good
ahahahahahaha.

There exists means to play the game online still, even using original hardware if you can find the pieces.
