Ishikawa needs to learn the player character is not meant to be her own personal character to force a personality onto, the player is supposed to be able to headcanon whatever personality they want onto their character. Ishikawa refuses to respect this. One of the very first time she wrote for the game (Dark Knight Quests) we all saw this, how she forced the WOL to have this dark edgy personality they were hiding all along.
And then later in ShB she forced the WOL to be the reincarnation of an ascian who was best freinds with Emet Selch, giving the WOL a canon backstory. Which also was used to explain why we're adventurerers (because the ascian the WOL is a reincarnation of had the entire job of aventuring. For whatever moronic reason the Convocation had an entire position dedicated to going on adventurers)
Now we're being forced to have this adventurer personality. This type of writing works when the protagonist is an actual pre-written character with a fricking voice, not some nameless player avatar. The writers need to fricking understand this and stop writing this story like it has an actual character for a main character. The WOL is not a character, he's a player avatar and the story should be written around that, not be written as if he IS an actual character.

This is a JRPG problem in general. DQ protagonists are supposed to be blank slate player inserts, but they're functionally a defined protagonist, just a mute one. Same with Persona and SMT, albeit to a lesser extent. Hell, even outside of RPGs, It's a problem in other JP games with CACs as well, Monster Hunter, God Eater, Code Vein, off the top of my head. The problem is just exacerbated in XIV since it's an MMO, and by the fact that WoL does actually have pre-written lines that 100% lock them in into that archetype, no matter which they pick.
The smartest thing that FF as a franchise have done was probably moving away from having "blank slate" mute protags and committed to ones with proper characterization.

The scions aren't your friends, they are your coworkers. Worse, they're your co-workers who make you do all the work.
I don't know who's brilliant decision it was to force the WOL to join the scions, and then make the scions all useless pieces of shit because none of them have the blessling of light and therefore can't help you against primals (which until ShB were 90% of the threats). An entire org dedicated to fighting primals, yet none of them can fight primals. Why would they not write it so that all the scions have the blessing of light so they can fight Primals alongside you, so you can actually grow atached to them and like them instead of just feeling like they're just MMO questgivers who make you do quests while they stand around with their dicks in their hands at the Waking Sands?
So the player never forms an attachment to them, because they just see the Scions as this group of useless fricks who make you do everything for them. It's only until ShB that they actually act like they give a shit about the WOL and become (somewhat) useful (thanks to trusts letting them join you in dungeons). Yet still they don't help in trials. Hell, the fricking big finale of EW, the big finale of the 10 year "saga', the scions are all absent while you fight the Endsinger with a bunch of random strangers you summon and the Scions just pray for you.
Why would ANYONE get attached to the Scions? Why would ANYONE like them (besides mentally ill waifuers like that rich guy behind the brown futacat who comissions hundreds of thousands of dollars of porn of Y'shtola fricking his OC). They aren't your friends, they're just coworkers you're forced to be around all the time and who make you do virtually all the work.
Because they hadn't figured out how to implement npcs into multiplayer fights, or if they even should. You might notice this simple and very obvious answer responds to 99% of your post and obviously stops being the case around ShB, when they finally figured out how to do it.

I escaped to FFXIV from GW2 and party drama is as annoying as guild drama. I wanted to kill half of the party there.

Can't speak towards GW2, but for an FF the party in XIV is so fricking sterile it hurts. They were at their best in ShB with the Ryne/Thancred and Urianger/Exarch drama.
