They really were by far the best addition to this story, all the garlean cringe from ARR and SB was pure dogshit, HW was also decent because there wasn't any of that.

A lot of characters had major changes at that time (Iceheart, Aymeric) but the attitude towards Lolorito and co. is the most glaring. They're treated as friendly allies with some bad habits by StB.

I think it was nice to not overcomplicate things with ascians, primals, and gods on top of it all.
what I didn't like is the half-assing of the extinction of the ancients. first the last ancient is elidibus, then the last is Venat, but then there are shades of ericthonios, lahabrea, and athena. and the 12 are gone, except for Oschon who gets to just keep on living for the next 60 years. Meteion doesn't even have that age limit.
so until Meteion and Oschon die, we're never truly done with the ancients, and I think that's a bit unfortunate.
Seems like by killing Hydaelyn and Zeromus and the 12 they're going scorched earth on the whole gods thing for some reason. Not having gods in your fantasy setting at all removes a lot of the mystification and makes me wonder if they're going to go balls deep from fantasy to sci-fi. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a few expacs of settings more like VII, VIII, XIII, and XV

Final Score: 15/30. Very Mediocre, I see why so many people stopped playing.
I only did the first raid tier and P3S was my favorite. Unsure if because of the fight itself or because of the demerits of the other turns. I hate debuff counters
P11S was the most standard safe design ever, literally what you'd expect from asking an AI trained on past savage to design a new one. Despite that, it was actually really fun, it felt to me like a really well paced and polished fight at the expense of anything interesting, and I had a lot of fun with it. It was also refreshing to prog and clear it quickly after the suffering of getting p10s cleared.
The fact is, Criterion has the most interesting mechanics in this entire expansion and it's not even close. Which is a shame because it's content nobody wants to do.

i thought criterion was decent, i just thought it was really lazy that they just copypasted extreme/savage but with 4 players. dungeons should be dungeons and play with the environment and trash packs more. it just felt like a missed opportunity on top of them not really taking advantage of the variant action system

Why are Thordan's Autos in an unreal, which is mean to be an extreme, more threatening than P12S Athena's? The fact it cleaves the party means people die, but I have to move the boss effectively for optimal placement for the gaze mechs. Felt like I was actually tanking the boss rather than just being the designated auto attack recipient

No, it's not terrible to do so, there's tons of FFXI movie compilations and playlists. But it does take away from the environmental storytelling, and I'm not talking hyperbole, there's a lot of lore that is accentuated by the level design.

The Galka are a unisex race that were and are tend to be slaves to the more industrious Humes, they are usually seen in the mines chipping away at stone or about town providing services. This causes an underlying feeling of rage amongst the Galka.
You find out later that they reproduce by reincarnation (as they have no sexual organs in canon), and go on a spiritual walk when they are about to die. A young Galka then tends to come to the village the older Galka left from that has similar personalities but have no memories of their previous incarnation. Except one, who they call the Talekeeper, who holds all the memories of the past Galka. This is how they preserve their race's legacy.

What I said is the answer though. XI's content is set up where a lot of combinations could work and just depends on the group's jobs.
The typical number of jobs was whatever you could level to fill in where a spot was needed. But a few did only have leveled whatever jobs that supported their "main job" as a subjob. Whatever you do though, if you use a job that learns it's skills or spells through scrolls, get them all asap.

I am honestly genuinely unsure what people were expecting. Corsair was not going to be anything like ffxi corsair and would have been just as generic looking as viper. The same goes for viper, it looks generic unlike sage and reaper but the latter 2 where all flash and no substance as well.
