Not him but FFXIV is unironically better with intel cpu's for some reason, gamersnexus always uses FFXIV for tests and every time intel CPUs provided you aren't bottlenecked get much higher FPS but obviously with a 7800X3D it would be a huge trade off because everything else would suck then.

The other side of the story is that CPUs have had huge generational IPC improvements. It's not like the bad old days of Intel re-releasing the same CPU with minor tweaks for a whole decade (although if you look at just Intel CPUs, they are still doing that), but a lot of people still think like that across the board.

i have 1440p monitors and dldsr doesn’t even work with them without lowering the refresh rate to 60hz. apparently your monitor model needs to be one of the chosen few that supports both dsc and dldsr running together but i have no idea what monitors do
it is if you want to set your desktop resolution to the target resolution factor, which you need to do for ffxiv because it doesn’t let you set a borderless window resolution higher than the desktop resolution

anons, can ffxiv do resolution scaling or would i have to do custom resolution to double from 4k->8k? is it possible to still get 60fps at 8k with a 7800x3d/4080s?
For anons just getting into FF14 or looking to upgrade, the game is CPU intensive but GPU light, people are still running 1070s pulling in 60 frames on high settings because they have it paired with a decent CPU.

You can play on your current character and use NG+ if you wanna replay. Will work so long as you're not 3/4 of the way into a main expansions story (NG+ sucks with chapter selection).

mobo doesn't matter much. do you have a microcenter near you? i bought a bundle deal of a gigabyte B650 gaming x ax v2, 7800X3D, and 32gb ddr5 ram for $460.00. if you have a microcenter see what bundles they have with the 7800X3D my motherboard ended up being defective, so i traded it in for a asus rog b650e-f for the same price while it is a $300 mobo new

I'm gonna play it don't get me wrong, they've earned my trust enough at this point but I'm VERY skeptical that DT will be good. Right now it looks like Stormblood 2 to me and Stormblood was the most miserable I've been in this game since late ARR.

High level FCs have some perks, like MGP buff, XP buff... But if you're new you don't need extra xp, the msq and job quests are enough already, with the occasional leveling roulette.

Some FCs are size queens who invite lots of noobs to look big and don't kick inactives.
There's big FCs with active players on some servers but being invited randomly without interacting with someone beforehand is a red flag. Join 'em if you want free buffs. Leave if there's none or nobody interesting and join another in 24h.
Sprouts (new players) are valued in this game. But yeah there are a lot of people who will send out auto-invites. They tend to be mega FC's who don't really retain the same people the people who run them only care about having a lot of numbers in their FC.
From experience I would recommend waiting until you make some friends and make an FC together or join an FC with a small number, from people you've spoken to first and not from an auto-invite.

Fullscreen will give you better performance and latency but you need to change vblanking with a tool like special K first and then cap your framerate accordingly with RTSS/NVCPL.
You only need to make the change once with SK tho, so you can dump it after using.

I played WoW from vanilla all the way until MoP when I quit for good. Same goes for RS which I played from RS2 launch until RS3. You don't need to tell me what the classic experience was like, I lived it. Modern WoW classic is NOT the same because it does NOT have the same community and the community is what made it. Same goes for OSRS. The games themselves were worse, they just existed in a time where they could have a better community and that's what made them amazing. XIV is an objectively better game than both in a vacuum, and none of the three can get that community in this day and age.

The other side of the story is that CPUs have had huge generational IPC improvements. It's not like the bad old days of Intel re-releasing the same CPU with minor tweaks for a whole decade (although if you look at just Intel CPUs, they are still doing that), but a lot of people still think like that across the board.

i have 1440p monitors and dldsr doesn’t even work with them without lowering the refresh rate to 60hz. apparently your monitor model needs to be one of the chosen few that supports both dsc and dldsr running together but i have no idea what monitors do
DL-DSR is not tied to refresh rate nor is it tied to refresh technology.
You can force DL-DSR with high refresh rate GSYNC or with ULMB if you wish.

Yeah I dunno why fullscreen seemingly forces vsync on, probably a Windows bug because fullscreen exclusive mode has been bugged on Windows for decades at this point.
FWIW it's an easy fix for the fullscreen issue.
The game doesn't work properly with gsync in fullscreen either unless you change vblanks.

But you're then at the whims of the UI scaler like you are now.
For anons just getting into FF14 or looking to upgrade, the game is CPU intensive but GPU light, people are still running 1070s pulling in 60 frames on high settings because they have it paired with a decent CPU.

High level FCs have some perks, like MGP buff, XP buff... But if you're new you don't need extra xp, the msq and job quests are enough already, with the occasional leveling roulette.

Some FCs are size queens who invite lots of noobs to look big and don't kick inactives.
There's big FCs with active players on some servers but being invited randomly without interacting with someone beforehand is a red flag. Join 'em if you want free buffs. Leave if there's none or nobody interesting and join another in 24h.
Sprouts (new players) are valued in this game. But yeah there are a lot of people who will send out auto-invites. They tend to be mega FC's who don't really retain the same people the people who run them only care about having a lot of numbers in their FC.
From experience I would recommend waiting until you make some friends and make an FC together or join an FC with a small number, from people you've spoken to first and not from an auto-invite.

Fullscreen will give you better performance and latency but you need to change vblanking with a tool like special K first and then cap your framerate accordingly with RTSS/NVCPL.

I played WoW from vanilla all the way until MoP when I quit for good. Same goes for RS which I played from RS2 launch until RS3. You don't need to tell me what the classic experience was like, I lived it. Modern WoW classic is NOT the same because it does NOT have the same community and the community is what made it. Same goes for OSRS. The games themselves were worse, they just existed in a time where they could have a better community and that's what made them amazing. XIV is an objectively better game than both in a vacuum, and none of the three can get that community in this day and age.

People use discord for BA to organize party comp and necessary logograms. Not because of the "perma"death.
