I got to crystal in the first week or two before most knew what the frick was going on and now you are either saddled with trash or play against cheaters, there is no middle ground. I thought it couldn't get any worse, but it certainly did, back then you could have close fights that would go back and forth, now it's just either one side gets instantly destroyed or the other.

Yes they were. The Drowned have been a thing since he was first summoned 15 years ago. Merlwyb's father was among the first. Even when he wasn't summoned they used Leviathan's ambient aether in their drowning pools to temper other pirates. The Serpent Reavers were already Drowned before you went to Sastasha.

You can stay near the center of the hair circle until the middle aoe appears, that'll stop you from dealing with 2 close shave tornadoes. There's space for you to fit between the edge of the circle and the tornado, it's intended.
It's funny seeing how moronic and nonsensical the story gets. This is the only game I know where even the character's don't pretend death means anything anymore and just shrug it off because they know the person who just died will come back in 2 quests. Shit's actually just dragonball at this point.

Nanamo's survival was never an asspull but you have to have played 1.0 to understand why. The moment they showed Lolorito conspiring with the maid afterwards it was obvious to me that he used the coma poison. Back in 1.0 there was a conspiracy between Teledji and Fyrgeiss to try and scare another Syndicate member, Eolande, into giving up her seat because she had royalist opinions. To do that, they invented a new poison and started dosing her son so he would fall into comas for weeks at a time. Lolorito took it upon himself to intervene and financed a cure for the poison. But in the end he couldn't save Eolande because they went and assassinated her under the cover of the Calamity. He still watches over the son like his family. If you've been around a few years, the son is the doctor in the Ul'dah childrens' hospital.
They actually managed to keep the tension high in shadowbringers without killing anyone, but it's just bonkers to me that none of the scions died in endwalker, and everything just sorted itself out with the power of friendship. Even Matsya and the baby making it out okay felt like a middle finger, just as it was threatening to become emotionally investing.
Part of the whole reason why Heavensward felt so hype was because of 2.55 making everyone VERY angry at Lolorito after losing 90% of our friends in one go. Shadowbringers felt similar back when we didn't know why everyone was collapsing and it was taking a considerable toll on the morale of the remaining scions. Endwalker just didn't scratch any of these itches.
Honestly I wouldn't have bothered, but its a hell of a line and thank you for reminding me I need to completely legally watch that show again by buying it for hundreds of dollars online, legally.

If you don't wanna bother with crafting, which can end up costing you more than you'll actually get in return for a while, just level a gatherer. A surprising amount of people don't have gatherers leveled or are just too lazy to gather themselves, so you can make some pretty good money by just selling raw mats that are on high demand, such as the ones used for the crafted gear right now. It's not easy money though, you will spend a lot of time gathering if you want to make some actual cash.

Even with the upgraded amount of totems you get, I get exhausted doing 5 runs of this fight in one sitting. I cleared on the second night and then the third night I did a farm session but took a break after 10 totems.

You have enough time to adjust after the cone, you can just wing it. Everyone freaks out and either runs into the slash or each other.
Reaper's teleport has been a godsend for that. You get to greed while she's getting ready to dash in, and get a free out after the slash happens. I never once got clipped by anyone else's aoe
It emulates what WoW used to be during it's peak (MoP)

because the strats that people are using in pf just make the fight harder for no reason, so much unnecessary movement for a fight where you can legit stand still for 80% of it.
I've found one good party yesterday and we killed it 8 or so times but then one healer had to leave.
Instead of just filling in or passing party leader to someone else, guy disbanded entire party even when rest was willing to go again.
Darkside was a toggle stance that raised your damage but drained your mp. Unmend and unleash used to cost mp so if you mismanaged your mp you couldn't pull or aoe. Dark arts was an ogcd that ate 1/4 of your mp to augment some of your abilities. Blood price was a cooldown that would give you some mp back every time you got hit, and sole survivor put a mark on an enemy and restored your hp/mp if it died before the timer ran out.
It was very cool and edgy, but in practice you just mashed dark arts a bunch. The blood weapon window was pretty similar to what it is now, very hectic.
Basically? The culture of it FFXIV players. In 3.X DRK was more or less "supposed" to main tank and PLD was "supposed" to off tank but people didn't like being assigned roles like that (and PLD had a lot of issues anyway) and then you'd get diva DRKs who would only main tank for seconds at a time to proc their buffs and then Shirk to the WAR so they could chase shiny parses and not have to do tank stuff. It was messy.

Too much of a good thing. Dark Arts was sick and fun, so in SB they said "people like that, let's give them more" and then made it so you pressed Dark Arts every GCD and it was annoying and bloated and nobody liked it anymore so they axed it going into ShB and 5.0 was them setting tanks and healers to easy mode anyway because player counts were imbalanced across roles so lots of changes came all at once and all of them were dumb. That's why everyone expected a rework in EW, because DRK has been reworked every expansion until this one where it was so much the same that it was seen as a problem lol

They removed the drain on Darkside so it only turned off your passive regen and then you had so much free MP you were effectively mashing Dark Arts nonstop
Could've been solved with a cooldown or moving Dark Arts to blood, or making it only add secondary effects instead of straight damage, but they just scrapped it

I've played ffxiv for 1300 hours. I've cleared p1s to p4s, Aglaia, all extremes, including Barbariccia. Honestly pass trough all story campaing without skiping. Tried some casual activites. And realized that even tranniefurry shitlands better than this weeb game. Ffxiv is not even a RPG. It's just the big bunch of QTE. This game feels like OSU or other rhythm shit. Loot means nothing except passing through dps check. You character didn't changes with gearing him. Savages and extremes are hard as frick, and ultimates even harder. When you clear it you feel hollowed. Ffxiv sisters tells that this game is for chilling, but that's a lie. All endgame content is about parsing QTE raids. And community is much toxic. They never forgive you even one mistake. And they can't bear any criticism about they gorgeous game. There is only 2 ways of playing ffxiv. Ass sniffing in Limsa Lominsa and qte raids.
In worlo you can clear heroic, you can make keymaster, and receive full experience. Yes there is so much shit with timegates, trannies, furries, stupid story, ridiculous alt hate systems, but the core content is available for all levels of player skill.

Which ended up saving the entire fricking universe in the long run.
Also the devs themselves confirmed the Ancients would've Ra'la'd themselves in the end anyway, Venat believed this would innevitably happen and this also played a part in her decision.

My only problem is that I think Venat was much more compelling without the time travel giving her foreknowledge of the situation. I preferred when it was just that she had actual problems with the path the Zodiark faction was heading toward and that she took a gamble based on emotion and her own personal beliefs.

I slightly disagree. The first iteration she did everything by herself so basically she went in blind and wasn't 100% sure that what she was doing was right. Afterwards, when she met us she grew more certain and placed her hope in (Us), that we'll be able to save the star and that everything she's doing is not going to be for nothing. Hard agree. Time travel is a tricky gimmick to include in a story at the best of times, and shoving it in to an expansion that is already pure, 100% falling action/denouement/resolution was a foolish decision.
Everyone's character arcs were already wrapped up in Shadowbringers. All they had to do was close off a few loose ends rather than introduce new complications.
The problem with zodiark Black folk is that they view the entire story through the perspective of the ancients (despite the fact that the story does not revolve around them, it revolves around us sundered). They're mentally ill morons who became overly attached the ancients for whatever reason and think any slight against their pet race is a greivous sin. They hate Venat because she yeeted and deleted the ancients out of the story. Not because it was morally wrong, but because she ended their favorite race and now they are coping and seething.
There is no reasoning with the zodiark trance Black folk because they cannot help but view the story from the lense of the ancients and not, you know, the actual protagonists. Anything sort of "the ancients get brought back even if through making a split timeline and live happily ever after and venat is made to suffer for all eternity for the CRIME of harming the ancients" will not satisfy them.

But the Ancients were only cool to begin with because they were gone and from such a remote part of history that they were completely alien and drenched in mystery. Entering Amaurot in ShB was something magical. As someone very interested in ancient mythology and /x/ shit like Atlantis and antediluvian civilizations, it hit me with a lot of heavy feelings that I don't think many other pieces of media have managed to capture about those topics. I'll always be disappointed that Elpis took away a lot of the mystique.

I got to crystal in the first week or two before most knew what the frick was going on and now you are either saddled with trash or play against cheaters, there is no middle ground. I thought it couldn't get any worse, but it certainly did, back then you could have close fights that would go back and forth, now it's just either one side gets instantly destroyed or the other.
there's so much more wrong with CC than just the design that inevitably results in this structure of game flow.

I have no doubt that the devs didn't mean for it to be a shock reveal for the player, only the player character. Elidibus' small form had a white robe, and Themis' voiced cutscene after the credits was the same voice actor. He's very distinct.

The only part of the fight I hate is during the bayonetta hair tethers with dodging the mini tornadoes. When one tornado goes perfectly through the meetup spot for the enumeration. Can't figure that out, trying to follow behind it makes me a half second too late for the stack.

You can stay near the center of the hair circle until the middle aoe appears, that'll stop you from dealing with 2 close shave tornadoes. There's space for you to fit between the edge of the circle and the tornado, it's intended.

It's funny seeing how moronic and nonsensical the story gets. This is the only game I know where even the character's don't pretend death means anything anymore and just shrug it off because they know the person who just died will come back in 2 quests. Shit's actually just dragonball at this point.
I'm actually disappointed that they lost their balls after heavensward in regards to main character death. Even in heavensward, Nanamo surviving felt like a bit of an asspull, but it was outweighed by haurchefant, ysayle, and papalymo. Since then we've pretty much only had minfilia, and she's been as good as dead since the bloody banquet.
It feels like the writer killed Nanamo and Yoshida said "oh shit Black, what are you doing?" and fixed it.

Nanamo's survival was never an asspull but you have to have played 1.0 to understand why. The moment they showed Lolorito conspiring with the maid afterwards it was obvious to me that he used the coma poison. Back in 1.0 there was a conspiracy between Teledji and Fyrgeiss to try and scare another Syndicate member, Eolande, into giving up her seat because she had royalist opinions. To do that, they invented a new poison and started dosing her son so he would fall into comas for weeks at a time. Lolorito took it upon himself to intervene and financed a cure for the poison. But in the end he couldn't save Eolande because they went and assassinated her under the cover of the Calamity. He still watches over the son like his family. If you've been around a few years, the son is the doctor in the Ul'dah childrens' hospital.
They actually managed to keep the tension high in shadowbringers without killing anyone, but it's just bonkers to me that none of the scions died in endwalker, and everything just sorted itself out with the power of friendship. Even Matsya and the baby making it out okay felt like a middle finger, just as it was threatening to become emotionally investing.
Part of the whole reason why Heavensward felt so hype was because of 2.55 making everyone VERY angry at Lolorito after losing 90% of our friends in one go. Shadowbringers felt similar back when we didn't know why everyone was collapsing and it was taking a considerable toll on the morale of the remaining scions. Endwalker just didn't scratch any of these itches.
Characters collapsing out of nowhere to force the plot to progress is such an overdone and boring trope.

If you don't wanna bother with crafting, which can end up costing you more than you'll actually get in return for a while, just level a gatherer. A surprising amount of people don't have gatherers leveled or are just too lazy to gather themselves, so you can make some pretty good money by just selling raw mats that are on high demand, such as the ones used for the crafted gear right now. It's not easy money though, you will spend a lot of time gathering if you want to make some actual cash.

Even with the upgraded amount of totems you get, I get exhausted doing 5 runs of this fight in one sitting. I cleared on the second night and then the third night I did a farm session but took a break after 10 totems.

Reaper's teleport has been a godsend for that. You get to greed while she's getting ready to dash in, and get a free out after the slash happens. I never once got clipped by anyone else's aoe

I've found one good party yesterday and we killed it 8 or so times but then one healer had to leave.

Darkside was a toggle stance that raised your damage but drained your mp. Unmend and unleash used to cost mp so if you mismanaged your mp you couldn't pull or aoe. Dark arts was an ogcd that ate 1/4 of your mp to augment some of your abilities. Blood price was a cooldown that would give you some mp back every time you got hit, and sole survivor put a mark on an enemy and restored your hp/mp if it died before the timer ran out.

It was very cool and edgy, but in practice you just mashed dark arts a bunch. The blood weapon window was pretty similar to what it is now, very hectic.

Basically? The culture of it FFXIV players. In 3.X DRK was more or less "supposed" to main tank and PLD was "supposed" to off tank but people didn't like being assigned roles like that (and PLD had a lot of issues anyway) and then you'd get diva DRKs who would only main tank for seconds at a time to proc their buffs and then Shirk to the WAR so they could chase shiny parses and not have to do tank stuff. It was messy.

Dark Arts was sick and fun, so in SB they said "people like that, let's give them more" and then made it so you pressed Dark Arts every GCD and it was annoying and bloated and nobody liked it anymore so they axed it going into ShB and 5.0 was them setting tanks and healers to easy mode anyway because player counts were imbalanced across roles so lots of changes came all at once and all of them were dumb. That's why everyone expected a rework in EW, because DRK has been reworked every expansion until this one where it was so much the same that it was seen as a problem lol

They removed the drain on Darkside so it only turned off your passive regen and then you had so much free MP you were effectively mashing Dark Arts nonstop

Reprisal was once exclusive to DRK, did damage, and could have near 100% uptime, but it could only be done after parrying.
DRK had Eukrasia back in 3.0, but it was called Darkside and it had a sick animation
Oh and they used to have a separate dot called scourge and delirium was an alternate combo finisher to souleater. They also had another combo chain for enmity, but it got deleted. Only souleater now. RIP power slash.

feint is only really useful during savage and ultimates it's a lot of mitigation but it doesnt hurt to throw it on there to help bad healers during ex's

I've played ffxiv for 1300 hours. I've cleared p1s to p4s, Aglaia, all extremes, including Barbariccia. Honestly pass trough all story campaing without skiping. Tried some casual activites. And realized that even tranniefurry shitlands better than this weeb game. Ffxiv is not even a RPG. It's just the big bunch of QTE. This game feels like OSU or other rhythm shit. Loot means nothing except passing through dps check. You character didn't changes with gearing him. Savages and extremes are hard as frick, and ultimates even harder. When you clear it you feel hollowed. Ffxiv sisters tells that this game is for chilling, but that's a lie. All endgame content is about parsing QTE raids. And community is much toxic. They never forgive you even one mistake. And they can't bear any criticism about they gorgeous game. There is only 2 ways of playing ffxiv. Ass sniffing in Limsa Lominsa and qte raids.
In worlo you can clear heroic, you can make keymaster, and receive full experience. Yes there is so much shit with timegates, trannies, furries, stupid story, ridiculous alt hate systems, but the core content is available for all levels of player skill.
Frick ffxiv. I will better play furry worlo rather than this OSU and DMC reskin.

Why do Zodiark Trancers make this argument? Do they just conveniently ignore the fact that, even if she told the convocation what really caused the Final Days and tried to avert it rather than just sunder everyone, she would be deleting us and our entire future from existence? The entire point was she wanted to maintain our future, both for our sakes and because she knew only we stood a chance due to our ability to percieve and manipulate dynamis unlike the Ancients.
The "THOU SHALT WALK" scene quite literally also shows Venat attemptign to talk her people out their endless sacrifices and literal worship of Zodiark (who was created to be a tool, but tempered the convocation to his will and became revered as a god who would solve all their problems and make the world the way it used to be if they just kept feeding him more lives) and clearly showing they were beyond reason, hence why she decided to finally go through with the Sundering. Which ended up saving the entire fricking universe in the long run.
Also the devs themselves confirmed the Ancients would've Ra'la'd themselves in the end anyway, Venat believed this would innevitably happen and this also played a part in her decision.
Like how the frick can you argue the Sundering was Genocide and Venat is evil for it, and then pretend as if NOT sundering wouldn't itself be "genocide" as she'd be deleting us and our entire future from existence? Not to mention even Elidibus himself told us we can't change the past anyway so it was pointless and she should've just gone along with maintaining the proper timeline.

I slightly disagree. The first iteration she did everything by herself so basically she went in blind and wasn't 100% sure that what she was doing was right. Afterwards, when she met us she grew more certain and placed her hope in (Us), that we'll be able to save the star and that everything she's doing is not going to be for nothing. Hard agree. Time travel is a tricky gimmick to include in a story at the best of times, and shoving it in to an expansion that is already pure, 100% falling action/denouement/resolution was a foolish decision.
Everyone's character arcs were already wrapped up in Shadowbringers. All they had to do was close off a few loose ends rather than introduce new complications.

The problem with zodiark Black folk is that they view the entire story through the perspective of the ancients (despite the fact that the story does not revolve around them, it revolves around us sundered). They're mentally ill morons who became overly attached the ancients for whatever reason and think any slight against their pet race is a greivous sin. They hate Venat because she yeeted and deleted the ancients out of the story. Not because it was morally wrong, but because she ended their favorite race and now they are coping and seething.
There is no reasoning with the zodiark trance Black folk because they cannot help but view the story from the lense of the ancients and not, you know, the actual protagonists. Anything sort of "the ancients get brought back even if through making a split timeline and live happily ever after and venat is made to suffer for all eternity for the CRIME of harming the ancients" will not satisfy them.

But the Ancients were only cool to begin with because they were gone and from such a remote part of history that they were completely alien and drenched in mystery. Entering Amaurot in ShB was something magical. As someone very interested in ancient mythology and /x/ shit like Atlantis and antediluvian civilizations, it hit me with a lot of heavy feelings that I don't think many other pieces of media have managed to capture about those topics. I'll always be disappointed that Elpis took away a lot of the mystique.

EX is usually pretty lenient on the enrage that you can have multiple deaths and still comfortably beat enrage as long as the DPS doesn't die too much to stack weakness/waste time on the floor
