The other game pretends to ban them, but never enforces it, is completely unable to detect if anyone is using them, and has no API that can restrict what types of addons are used.
the stuff you can do with xiv plugins are way, way worse than anything you can do with wow addons, and it's not even close. Blizzard actively bans people who use banned addons, squenix doesn't do anything about them unless you're mass reported.
The point is that the game doesn’t enforce them so the vast majority of the player base does not use them beyond maybe a damage meter. If you use addons you are just shit and should head over to WoW where you will be welcomed for how bad you are at basic mechs

there are 2 "gaze" attacks on 2 random compass points (in addition to a bunch of other shit), if your character looks at either you start running around randomly and likely die
the 2 blue lines are third party mods that point to both gazes so you don't have to actually search for them
Look for Thordan and the Eye outside the arena and don't look at either of them.
It's not even hard, Death is the easiest major mechanic in the whole fight.
Xeno pays someone to make him a pentamelded crafted gear set at savage launches so he doesn't have to think about it. He admitted it on stream but then deleted all the vods.

I have no idea why anyone would do those anyways except for the shitty achivement. Those hunts drop nothing except generic tomestones and useless hunt currency.
The only reason I ever did them was to get the achievement for killing each unique one (Mark of the Sea, Desert, etc). But then since ShB they don't do that anymore, so I literally haven't bothered with them. I put that energy into getting Big Fish instead, took 2-3 months to complete that, now all I have left is 4 blue fish from ocean fishing.
