>Community acts like this scene is representative of ShB
>Literally nothing remotely resembling this scene ever happens again for the rest of the expansion.

Biggest fricking lie ever
I liked it 🙂
I have to say the Garlemald part was pretty well done, especially the atmosphere, very soviet. And that radio song too.
tbh the game falls off hard after Stormblood.
What it does get to do is tell a fairly self contained story in Shadowbringers whereas other expansions have/had baggage. Also unlike other expansions EW has no excuse for being as bad because they had the entirety of 5.x patches to both set it up and develop what they were doing and the entirety of 6.0 to finish the story. EW still struggled to do that though.
Ishikawa isn't a very good big picture writer. Give her a little self contained story about friendship and she's your gal tho.
LOL
no it doesn't.
It gets worse in EW.
>after Stormblood
>after
Stormblood is the worst expansion.
Story-wise, Yes. Everything else is good. Also bring back TP.
It's also fine story wise too tho. All of it's story failings are either part of 2 zones being shoved into one game (ishikawa's side in particular) and suffering from ARR & HW debt that started off with the worst tweeeest in the game.
SB on an area by area basis and it's own narrative is fine. It even does justice to the FF game it's aping (unlike EW & IV)
>bring back TP
Why stop at that? Bring back cross class skills, sprint using all of your TP and needing to level a different class to 15 to get your job.
I know you're being hyperbolic over a moronic comment, but I wish they would give a shit about classes and bring back/improve on the cross class skill system instead of this role skill cop-out. It would probably make anything that isn't pgl dead boring before 30 too.
It would be pointless to add if you played any mmos with skill tree stuff like that you just picked what ever is the best
It's pointless to add sidequests that give you nothing at all.
Point of the genre is pointless shit you choose to interact with and skill trees don't hurt anything. Not any more than a secondary, more restrictive resource bar.
Pretty sure the side quests in ffxiv add lore and neat side stories
usually the + and a few others yes
the majority, (as a madlad who did every sidequest from every xpac pointed out before) are a simple variation of "I can't do this because reasons, do it for me"
Some of them sure.
But a huge portion of them are "I need 5 bear asses but I am unable to acquire them" and give fricking less EXP than a single FATE does, so it's like why do they even exist?
lore blurbs and completionists
And fleshing out classes can add to the sidestories of cross class quests.
But if you want a better comparison, crafting, gathering, gold saucer, various side activities. You do not have to do any of this to play the game and if you do, you can look up levekits and whatever to speedrun the grindy parts, just as people do with skill trees. You can choose to mess around and find combinations you like, or you can follow the meta.
*add to the sidestories of class quests
Had a brain fart and added my original point there for no reason.
no endwalker is the worst expac, stormblood had the best content and gameplay, the story lacks but the story in endwalker has the same exact issues stormblood had now with no content to back up the rushed story
Nah Endwalker is even more divisive
Some writers (hackfrauds) like to have one extremely dark and edgy moment at the beginning of their story to make people go "WOAH LOOK HOW DARK AND EDGY THIS STORY IS" to sell them on it and make them keep watching. And then the rest story is incredibly tame.
It's a cheap marketing ploy used by hack writers who lack the stones to actually write a story on that level of dark but want to trick you into thinking that's what they've written by frontloading you with such a moment early on.
This is true. FFXIV is not dark storytelling. You have to go to Baldur's Gate 3 for that.
>Baldur's Gate 3
>dark storytelling
It's tumblr trash with edgy shock moments dude. That's not "le dark". Might as well be a western anime on Netflix. And you should have a nice day for praising it.
Something tells me you have an entire folder of Twitter screencaps.
I keep certain grabs from game developers for reference, because it's important to know where your money is going. This hobby isn't worth funding political activists and propagandists that have overtaken the West, such as those hired by Larian after Divinity's comeback with the original sin games.
Baldur's Gate 3 is a trojan horse.
the "apolitical" gamer at work
it's way fricking worse in other japanese media as well
I think you missed the point here and are actually wrong anyway.
Bersek did it right, tho. That's because the darkness in the story has a purpose other than shockvalue wich most stories use it for.
>That's because the darkness in the story has a purpose other than shockvalue wich most stories use it for.
Yea, great fap material.
everyone had been screaming at the top of their lungs how much rape was in berserk. I was all excited when I finally got to reading it, only for the first rape to be an entire volume in, and it was man-on-man
got to this bit and finally some good frickin food. and then it's gone as soon as it arrived. I get that the big climactic one is memorable but I really feel like the manga's reputation for wall-to-wall non-stop rape is vastly and disappointingly overrated
It works, just look at Goblin Slayer
>this game just doesn't have enough body horror for my taste
yeah ok Black person
No anon the problem is you homosexuals lie about this scene representing the rest of the expansion when it's the one and only moment like this.Stop fricking lying to sprouts and getting their expectations of an actual dark and edgy story up because that never happens.
Is it not darker and edgier than the previous expansions?
ARR through StB have you fight humans and dragons in a world that's doing alright, all things considered
ShB has you fight a pervasive corruption in a doomed world
people get turned into light demons and then turned into cakes and fed to the poor so they're enthralled to a fat frick
Shut the frick up you crybaby.
It's not the only time it happens at all though. There's Elminster switch, all the shit in Eulmore about turning the poors into Sin Eaters and then feeding their flesh to the populace, the fricked up shit the fae get up to in Il Mheg. Just because the expansion isn't a nonstop fricking horror show doesn't mean the Tesleen scene isn't indicative of the vibe of the expansion.
Holminster Switch*
Fricking BG3 brained idiot that I am
It's like poetry, it rhymes
To be fair the weapon storyline is probably the only time they continue that dark tone. Makes me wish ShB never happened because traveling to the first was such a shit decision when the heroes were at their lowest and the garleans were actually succeeding for once. It sucks that on every opportunity besides maybe StB, Garleans got the short end of the villain stick and were never able to be taken seriously as a threat because of shitty Japanese tropes of subverting who the real villains were. Crazy to me that they did it to the ascians too. The weapon story really sells how much of a threat a technological civilization can be when disregarding nature, and really pushed in protag's shit ideologically by winning the war and having the checkmate of black rose. The game could've had stakes for fricking once.
Nope, just more god killing 0 death bullshit, and the only death tk happen was to some nobody we met for 10 minutes. Welcome to Shadowbringers u guys xd
>scions are out of commission
>have to assemble a b-team
>have to push our way into garlemald from one front
I remember getting all hyped up for Shadowbringers. It was great for the story but it paved the way for Endwalker to happen. Would've been better if there was some sort of time dilation happening.
>Holminster Switch where a village is getting raided, nearly everyone dies or gets turned
>Troops defending Lakeland get slaughtered and you're forced to watch from the perspective of someone who cant do anything
>People in Il Mheg getting turned into living plants for all eternity
>A destroyed mining village where you're trying to convince a guy who had his wife and child crushed to death in the mines to stop being an alcoholic
>A city of hedonists who have sided with the monsters and eat their flesh and transform into them
>A city of the dead populated by ghosts of the villain's friends and family
>People in Il Mheg getting turned into living plants for all eternity
That's hot though if it was girls, but we only see it happen to males unfortunately.
I don’t know man there’s still a scene later where ghost ardbert gets to uselessly watch some dudes get slaughtered
Bro, your Lakeland part 2?
>People turned into sin eaters and then their flesh is fed to the people of Eulmore
>Not horror
Sorry its not Saw, homosexual.
It shows it once to set up what happens when people become sin eaters. People still become sin eaters throughout the story, just off screen. But yes XIV addicts push the scene too hard. This game is poison if you only interact with dumbass Americans.
That first dungeon you do in lakeland you see more people killed and turned in front of you just not all zoomed in and dramatic, and the sin eater siege on lakeland you see on or slightly offscreen people dying brutally, and the whole Vauthry feeding people to sin eaters and then turning them into food for peasants to eat, and that dungeon in the fairy area where they attempt to drown you to make you a permanent resident and I can't remember if it's implied or not somewhere they drowned the entire town around the castle.
I think you might be being moronic anon.
midwalker
>WELCOME TO SHADOWBRINGERS
Everytime a streamer get's to this scene without fail. The Xivies are like npcs just mindless regurgitating their own memes. I'm only shocked that not a single streamer has ever called them out on misleading them on the story after they finished it.
>Endsinger second oblivion
>DPS CHECK LE WIPE NICE TRY GO AGAIN XDDDD
Yea I fricking hate this community.
>Emanation
>"YESSSSS MOMMY"
shut the frick up
stop ruining this for me
thats fun though if thats with new people
>tfw see some stupid morons saying le welcome to endwalker XD to the garleBlack person sisters dying
now that grinds my gears
personally I like calling for a second limit break as if the first one didn't happen
the welcome to endwalker moment is Zodiark being the 83 trial
actually theres like 5 of those moments honestly
>suicide scene
>the mob solo duty in garlemald
>zodiark
>everything in thavnair with the final days
>elpis
>tfw Vrtra saves Matsya and the young poo
yeah. my favorite thing about Elpis is that when Fandango is monologuing about death during the zodiark defeat cutscene, the Elpis night theme plays. The song itself is called Stars Long Dead, which I think is the first instance that a song title is a spoiler
>The song itself is called Stars Long Dead
How do you know that?
you're not in game, Black person, you can't bait a ban here
the orchestrion log. though pre-elpis it says 'obtained in an unknown zone' or something like that
there's also the open tournaments spoiling things like shadowbringers WoL, Z and H being primals, cheif keyward lahabrea, etc
I unironically hated that part when I played through EW, like why the frick is this lame moron giving a soliloquy when hes just introduced and will never come back again. I noticed also its new music but I didn't give a frick at that time
But what they did with him was one of my favourtie things in EW, I kneel fujokawa
Elpis sucked so fricking hard. What an utter waste of opportunity.
>lmao you’re toon is revealed to be LITERALLY Gandalf, enjoy fighting sadsack homosexuals for the rest of the expansion like the 16 year old the writers think you are
whenever i get an msq end trial i spoil what happens after "accidentally"
They do the same thing when those two jobber girls die in Endwalker, even though that's pretty much the only named character death in the whole thing.
Do you really expect any better of normies?
wooooow those fricking normalgays rally around a defining moment early on in the expansion how could they be such sheeple to do that lmfao lmao rofl *eats my own shit*
The problem is it is lame and unfunny. It makes me feel like I should stop watching since I definitely don't fit in with those vibes idk.
This happens all the time when a streamer dies in an infamous spot in any game, even when it's not a hard or dark game, it's such a dumb overused meme
Welcome to MemeLand
OH NO HE’S HOT XDDDD
Why do you know or care what streamers do?
The frick is wrong with this site?
Is that cum? Anyways there's no point playing this soi troony game, it's never been worthy of a subscription. Back when it came out it was an insulting value proposition compared to wow and the only reason that changed is because Blizzard slowly made wow worse.
Yeah, she got wienervored and turned into cum, extremely graphic!
I don't watch streamers or look at the forums so I'm not sure how this is my problem.
I think i'm a minority in ff14. Everyones told me the story gets really good in shb, stb sucks but post stb is good, and arr is terrible.
Meanwhile i've despised most of shb because it gets so moronicly cinematic as to be counterintuitive, stb was fun to me whereas post-stb was probably the worst the games ever been for me. And I despise most of the shb cinematics and other shit, despise the whole role play shit where they force you to play as scions and just like the raids in ff14.
I also miss arr, it was fun just being a regular-ish adventurer instead of hero-man of heroes, here to save creation as the super special maguffin. It reminded me of that Naruto is a hypocrite video made by the furry on youtube, where he points out asia, tho in this case japan thinks history is cyclical and destiny, which leads to the protagonist being this super special reincarnation like the WoL is, or in the case of Naruto, Naruto being the reincarnation of a demigod, same as Sasuke.
If it weren't for the fact that most of the raids in ff14, especially HW up are really fun, i'd have quit a long time ago and never looked back. I see the story itself as a net negative, often overly-long in its explanations and setups, has a lot of basic japanese tropes that are shit, like the multiple switching protags shit, which is dumb as frick in a CaC mmo, and the writers think they're better than they really are, and go way way too far into storytime, to the point where I consider Kojima in mgs4 to have more restraint in the exposition and storybuilding.
same here. arr mood was great imho, the story wasn't anything to write home about but that's just final fantasy. heavensward was absolutely kino, and I liked the setting of stormblood. once you get to shadowBlack person the plot becomes kingdom hearts shit I honestly can't stomach it
>the story wasn't anything to write home about but that's just final fantasy
I think the stories in VII and X are well done though, others not so much
oh I didn't mean it as a con, I'm personally really into basic fantasy plots, when they're backed up by strong artistic direction or good gameplay at least. that's why I like arr so much
>the story wasn't anything to write home about but that's just final fantasy
no...I meant it as you grouping every FF story with the same beats as ARR
personally I think there's not much FF story thats just retreads of another story
(You)
This. The story after Stormblood has been disinteresting, and after Shadowbringers, actually pretty bad. Only reason I'm still subbed is because of the housing trap but I am losing my interest in that.
what do you mean anon. people are turning into sin eaters up until the eulmoran invasion of lakeland.
and then there's (you) turning into one. besides, its the sound effects from that scene that sell it
this was the ONLY good scene of all XIV xpacs. No matter how hard everyone is simping for yoshi-p, every XPAC is shit quality wise. with every xpac the game got more and more a VN. Horrible overworld maps, etc.
ARR has still the best looking areas.
shadowbringers was when the decline of FF14 happened. Stormblood was peak FF14.
>First Sin Eater designs are horrifying

Remember when people were insisting Zsro was going to be a permanent fixture in the Scions because they made her a Trust character?
Remember when Shiva was the primal of the gigas? Remember when Titania was Alisaie? Remember when Zodiark and Hydaelyn were the same entity? Remember when we were going to cause a calamity and rejoin the Thirteenth?
i do. because they were all me.
I remember when Punished Raubahn was going to be the job trainer for DRK going into HW
I remember when 1.23 was going to be the basis for 2.0.
I'm still mad.

FF players have poor numerical literacy, otherwise they would have already realised that the Fantasy is in fact, not Final.
>everything in thavnair with the final days
>The duty with the mom turning into a monsters and the little elephants turning into monsters too
>The eviscerated elephant head boss
>The sky full of sad big butt succubus demons
>The huge dragon monster being the angry merchant all along
>Y'shtola going "where the FRICK are their souls?"
>I'm literally killing innocents all over the place holy shit
>All I did was kill the final boss what the frick is going on
>Everyone is fricking dying
>The baby's mom gets her neck snapped and thrown into the pool
>The baby almost fricking drowns
>Matsya and the baby almost turn into monsters right in ours faces
>The baby will probably turn into a scalie after these traumatic events
>Elidibus
Thavnair 2 was a wild ride.
it's a shame the drama got diluted by hearing poojeet accents all the time
also
>no mention of ahewann
cmon bro
Bruh, after watching the parents die and Matsya and the baby scene, I just gave up. I was like
>If they kill em, im not surprised.
>This was too much of a roller coaster
Tis a perilous path you walk.
people call the lopporit section of mare lamentorum a tone deaf pacing mistake, but imagine going from Zodiark to Vanaspati
My only personal grievance with the loporrit bits was they tended to drag, but as an actual break in the story's tone I had no problem with them. I liked picking which carrot to taste.
i think the carrot jokes went about 2 quests too far. though that is part of the lopporit identity so i can't say its bad or not planned out
the best parts of the expansion were you being neck deep in the final days. when it petered out into background noise towards the end i was very disappointed
>but dude the whole point of the expansion is supposed to be you just pushing through all the bad shit no matter how hard it is
and that's all well and good, but when you forget the final days are even happening if you're not in ilsabard and the other endwalker areas then it becomes a problem. and those job quests where you have to track and put a blasphemy down in the starting zones were a barely passable excuse to go "see? see?! it's happening here at home too!"
i get they were stretched thin and forced to pack 2 expansions worth of content into one, but frick man i cannot stop being disappointed at it.
the music is beyond a doubt the best part of endwalker though, no contest
honest question. did you actually need the skies to turn red in sharlayan while you were already in ultima thule? perspective matters anon. why don't we get a cutscene for the other parties in operation archon?
>did you actually need the skies to turn red in sharlayan while you were already in ultima thule?
absolutely.
>perspective matters anon.
and the perspective was weak if not fricked
>why don't we get a cutscene for the other parties in operation archon?
an actually good question disguised as bait
so what point, narratively speaking, would you the player being made aware that the skies over sharlayan are burning do for your character who is at the edge of the universe?
keeps in mind how fricked things are getting even as you get close to the end of all things. so, narratively speaking, it serves quite a good point.
but the world already is doomed when you leave for UT anon. the skies were eventually going to turn red. if it happened then or in a week, whats the difference?
>if it happened then or in a week, whats the difference?
thematically, everything.
shut up lalahomosexual
cry about it, b***h Black person
Tbqh I think the only thing they should have done is making the sky fricked up like that during the last/second to last stage of the role quest for whichever area you were doing in, then bring it back once you completed it.
Issue with that obviously being that they couldn't know when the player was gonna do each role quest, so I also don't blame them. The whole issue was inevitably that to make the Final Days affect the entire game, the player couldn't do anything else at all in between.
Yoichi Bow get, now on to Zeta.
>doing 6.5
>another "i got bamboozled by ascian"
mystery homies up to no good as usual
Endwalker post patch was absolutely boring, I stopped playing after 6.3
To be fair we already knew the ascians made the void, we just didn't know they tricked Golbez into doing it.
It would've been okay if they did it by hand. It's not like they're not powerful af. Why use the same trick as the first...it has a lot less impact storywise.
Other way around, the First is a much more refined version of what they tried on the Thirteenth first. Zero didn't work out as a "darkwarden" the way Vauthry did as a lightwarden, and they didn't know you're supposed to have a concurrent calamity on the Source, so the Thirteenth just went to pot.
That's their MO. They manipulated the locals into causing the calamities so they wouldn't be suspected.
I can understand why they'd want to do that on the source since they have to do MULTIPLE calamities on the source but why do they even give a shit of being a moronic mastermind and making the population on the shards cause the calamities when they are literally one and done
The 6.x patches had the worst, most pointless and boring excuse of a story since 4.0 to me.
And I fricking hated 4.0. I hope DT turns it around again like ShB did for SB, if not I'm out.
ShB was only good because it had S+ Tier characters carrying the moral grey story. Wich are the best ingredients for a good story. EW had a more moral secure and light story. Where you know who the good guys are (like it's the hungry games and the story literally leans you towards it) and you stricly know what is right and wrong, having no moral dilemmas. It might sound like pretentious shit but it was what made ShB so compelling.
How the hell was ShB's story morally grey? You were entirely on the good side from start up until amaurot where you can empathize with Emet's motives and even then it was never a choice to side with him because that would mean sacrificing everything you have been working towards and everyone you met on the way
Ofc since the game is not an RPG you cannot do that. But how the story is written you can actually sympathyze and agree with the ancients and questions what you're doing. In EW you can't do that at all.
No i mean there was not a single moment in the game up until the very end where your actions were called into question, both Emet and Ardbert (during heavensward) were morally grey because they were placing lives on the line for the sake of a world they thought could still save, meanwhile we go in there not for the sake of just our world but that of every single reflection and we didn't sacrifice anybody in order to achieve that, we were the good guys the entire time, and note that im not saying im having a problem with being the good guys during the story, im just confused as to why there are people calling ShB's story morally grey when it clearly doesn't look like it to me
>(during heavensward)
?

the Elbsts...my copies of Encyclopedia Eorzea are RUINED!
Oh ya thanks I need to do that
Are you hyped for fanfest?
Fanfest is alright, Cosplayers and showcases are what i look forward to even if it's boring
So much good shit
I'm hyped to see Corsair and the full trailer. Live letter with Ganker is fun. The rest I don't care about.
Eh, I'll be watching.
I sort of already regret buying a ticket but I was planning a trip to London anyway so whatever.
Just hope I don't catch the coof which would ruin my subsequent 5 days in England.
At least the weather will be better than in Vegas
Hope it stays dry. I've planned trips to Highgate Cemetary, Bath, the Cotswalls etc.
As long as you didn't take the clot shot you'll be fine
cum scene was at least entertaining unlike garbage like the old jobber or pretending Yshtola died for the 3rd time.
The dynamis despair monsters were a cool idea with neat designs and they get used only in 2 dungeons, one of these being in the previous fricking expansion in a flashback
Why was this so rushed
the role quests and a few solo duties
role quest power levels:
melee dps > tank > healer > ranged dps > caster dps
no, it was just heavensward 2. i'm not sorry.
FFXVI
Don't let others tell you otherwise. Yoshida's vanity project drained resources away from his "baby".
uhhhh female hrothgar when??
hopefully never, furshit is a plague
>furshit is a plague
you are right, however that and worse already invaded ur game bro
But what if they're hot?
2 more weeks
They'll be shown at JP fanfest so the msq npc gets revealed the week after. They wo'nt be at London.
London will be a nothingburger Dawntrail infowise. We'll get Corsair full reveal which was obvious from the start, the second city hub reveal, and one of the raids. Green Mage, femHroth, new job ability reel, character creation benchmark etc will all be kept for Tokyo.
We're getting the full trailer, it should contain the femhroth if she'll be a significant character in the MSQ
>We're getting the full trailer
Are you new? We're lucky to get an updated trailer with the white covering robe removed from the Corsair AF. Full trailer is at final Fanfest.
The one at London will have the Corsair WoL vs Mamool Ja fight extended and a glimpse of the second hub. The one in Tokyo will add femHroth scene and Krile in her new outfit which is probably custom colored Green Mage AF.
I thought it's full trailer here, then "launch trailer" at JP featuring actual in-engine footage
Launch trailer is in a liveletter a month from actual launch, which isn't until Summer 2024.
Endwalker didn't have any fanfests because covid.
I think we'll get green mage at london and they'll do the pirate job in tokyo
Previously they already teased a job in the teaser trailer and then revealed it the next fanfest. Shadowbringers teaser showed GNB Thancred without announcing the job.
Same with Corsair, Green Mage is kept until Tokyo. I see no chance that they'd so obviously tease Corsair in the teaser cineamtic trailer and keep it until the final fanfest.
They teased green mage at the last fanfest though
With the shirt? That's both jobs, and it's not the trailer.
So the first EW trailer they tease Sage with Alphaniud's funnel things, the UK trailer they teased RPR with Zenos having a scythe?
They did. Though the situation was slightly different since EW only had two Fanfests, so both RPR and SGE were revealed right after being teased.

Male Hrothgar look nothing like male Ronso so why do you expect female Hrothgar to look like female Ronso?
God I hate how generic Miqo'te look.
Most of the equivalent races in XIV are just a step down from their XI counterparts, but then again so is all of XIV.
Mithra were a gift to my adolescent soul.
>65% of the garlemald map is just an empty snowy tundra
>65% of the moon map is a stupid fricking GIGANTICALLY EMPTY rabbit space station
how
how does this happen
there's so many people working on this making decisions
>65%
its 25% at worst, for either
my ass
They unironically don't care about the overworld since you don't do shit on it appart from going from point A to talk to someone on point B. After that is bounties and gathering but you might as well hunt in a fricking platform and gathering is the same as any other game.
Didn't 1.0 have these mini-aetheryte gates?
>95% of Siberia is empty wilderness
>95% of the moon is craters and flat surface
how
how does this happen
there's so much god working on this making decisions

The cultist when it comes to defend this fricking game, argument the most insane and dumb shit i can see in this site.
Uhhh? where are all the points of interest here? this is just empty....
I'm on a 12 loss streak in CC
>pop boner to gentlemen suit nashu

At least I learned you can change the Black person default races cause white keepers of moons are so goddamn fricking sex. Also goddamn did my firat alliance raid as a monk I can see jack shit. Is it meant to be so visually overwhelming, how am I going to tank that shit when I play it with my lalafell?
turn off player effects. its a god damned mess
char config > control settings > character on top > battle effects
The writing of XIV very much feels like baby's first visual novel.
Hence why it suffers the problems and all the praise, babies first visual novels usually get.
Do you guys wanna convince people that the free trial contains all the best bits of 14 and everything else isn't worth it?
I just want to convince people to give up on Japslop writing.
I wouldn't suggest this game to anyone tbqh. To be fair i already said to all my friends to not play ffxiv everytime someone asked me about is (since they saw me play it).
> i already said to all my friends to not play ffxiv everytime someone asked me about
same but i just dont need them seeing my boob mods
ye
it has the first half of the story, 3 raid tiers, around 20 extreme fights, eureka (though i'm not sure how you're gonna do that without in game comms), the gold saucer in all its glory. ocean fishing and if you're smart you can level 15 of the combat classes and all 11 gather/crafters to 70 and save yourself a couple months of sub. you can't pvp but
good fricking job doing the raids sync without pf.
yeah. thats technically what Novice Network is for, but...well we know how that goes.
Did you know the critically acclaimed MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XIV's starter edition and free trial now include the entirety of A Realm Reborn, the award-winning Heavensward, and its second major expansion Stormblood? A grand adventure awaits, now up to level 70!
I'm on a 13 loss streak in CC
Skills issue
Carry harder
But anon, that was literally what was happening to (You), they just didn't animate it as detailed and instead it was just WoL puking it because multiple models.
And you also forgot Kai-Shirr literally trying to cut chunks of his arm off.
they implied that this would be the fate of the wol at least try to read homosexual
>Play Fino Fano XIV trial
>Play all the way up to Stormblood
>Game is obviously setting up for a final assault on Garlemald after your 3rd epic 1v1 against Blonde Sephiroth.
>All the ascians begin going into the coma

So you like raceplay and you go by "she" even though you are confirmed to be a man. Who knew the discord troony shit was completely true? Many such cases I guess.
what was this website again? it's some weird Ganker scraper that tries to throw the posts back up as reddit-style treed posts
I guess instead of the box being up like in GankerX it just goes down. Why everyone is so amazed by it?
Ganker
>Earth isn't beautiful
Brainwashed terminally online goyim
You never had an argument in the first place
>Earth isn't beautiful
Why the frick are you strawman your way out of this? What's wrong with you?
You keep trying this but it doesn't work
Just go back to posting my beeg grin and LARPing as me like before
At least that was big funni

How does it feel knowing that the only way you can get any sort of attention from a group of anonymous strangers is by being a bother and a pest?
His anime edits didn't take off so this is all that is left.
This'll never happen again.
Probably not, that was only possible because they were planning to restart the whole game so it didn't matter if they messed around.
I should fricking hope the game doesn't get 100% rebooted again, it's a miracle it rebounded the first time.
Somehow this version of the game feels like the world is actually lived in. Current game is so static it feels like a stage just for cutscenes to take place in.
EW would've benefitted with changing the skyboxes in all of the Source zones for people in a certain window of MSQ progress like how ShB had the endless day in ShB prior to defeating the respective wardens.
Would take more than just a skybox change to make XIV feel like a living world. After they dropped PS3 support they could've at least started doing something about the immersion-killing repeating textures on the ground.
>Somehow this version of the game feels like the world is actually lived in.
I especially liked how the market was actual NPC vendors you had to talk to individually instead of a marketboard that breaks immersion.
Now this sounds like an RPG. When people say current XIV is an RPG first MMO second I can't help but laugh. Makes me wish I was there for it instead of fricking around in gmod.
it will when the game shuts down after dawntrail
Clearly.
I think Eulmore and the Meol almost bring it there due to implication alone but yeah it doesn't surpass that scene in terms of horrifying. You do find and kill her later though which is pretty sad
Finally got to 20, I can rest now
is that... le pudding?! omg so hilarious xD
>NOOOO NOT LE HECKING JAPANESE HUMOR IN LE JAPANESE GAME!!!
>HOW COULD THEY DO THIS?!?!?!
They can have Japanese humor in their game. But im still going to call their humor lame.
Now you get to do the felitious favors bullshit for weeks to get the mount.
>almost 30 weeks for 1 (one) mount
so this is how yoship intends to keep people subbed during the drought
you people wanted to do professional flower sniffing, now it's required.
>Required
Its for a mount. A mount which you could also buy. Its like saying the gemstone mount is required. Maybe if you're some kind of avid collector of mounts and want them all for the sake of it.
my point is rather that they simply adjusted the cost to players turning their casual weekly thing into a scientifically calculated min/max spreadsheet.
You choose to minmax it to get it faster. You dont need to have the mount the first day possible.
2 seater tractor already mogs it so nah
That's a big fricking puddi.
For you.
Does nu-Ganker even know about our lord and savior giga puddi?
new to the game. very fun.
Ok but after Tesleen, Kai-Shirr, the meol, the bushmen, Ardbert hearing horrible slaughter noises, the crushed women and children, WoL puking aether, the mass extinctions, the brainwashing towers, girls freezing to death, the legatus putting a bullet in his brain, people turning into monsters and "losing" their souls, Ahewann getting eaten alive, a kid turning into a monster then into paste, a young mother getting her neck wrung like a chicken, a baby almost drowning and then Matsya and said baby almost turning into monsters too.
WHEN has this game ever done horror and shocking scenes?
>...Baron burning this patch?
Oh, shut up.
>Ahewann getting eaten alive,
This scene was more comical than anything else because of their refusal/inability to let the WoL do anything in CSs because it'd take more work.
is cutscene WoL the opposite of cutscene dante
may as well ask why your PC in FFXI barely did anything ever either, one or two sword swings and a hug was about it
>may as well ask why your PC in FFXI barely did anything ever eithe
>one or two sword swings and a hug was about it
They spent time making an actual RPG.
Yoshida's CBU III like making visual novels and stripping out RPG elements, choice or meaningful progression. They've been doing a good attempt at ridding the MO part of MMO too, so credit where it's due.
>they were doing other things
anon you, me, and the entire thread knows this is a cop-out answer
I was talking about XI, not XIV.
That's what you got clowned on for, was trying to excuse FFXI doing it.
When FF11 did it it was GOOD but when FF14 does it it's BAD
Damn you got BTFO lil bwo
Outside of a couple set-piece CS in each storyline, most of the cutscenes in XI were ultimately people just standing talking anyway, plus it wasn't until late into WotG that they really started wanking the player character with most of the NPCs you're ostensibly fighting alongside just as, if not more special than the player character.
Seriously? Horrible crunching noises as he begged for his citizien's lifes was comedic to you? And as shitty as the WoL cutscene thing usually is, at least in that case WoL tried to sprint in to help him, so at least there was an attempt at helping.
>Horrible crunching noises as he begged for his citizien's lifes was comedic to you?
when the timing is poor? yeah it is
What about that timing was poor?
my favorite part of Bojza was when people started complaining about how the story was shit cause everyone just stands around in cutscenes like that isn't every single fricking cutscene in XIV post 2.0.
This is the most moronic criticism you could possibly make for that specific scene when it's one of the few times in the game they actually show the WoL trying to do something, he's just too slow.
Of course it falls apart if you're a ranged user but then you're playing a gay job so the joke's really on you either way.
Thread should have ended here btw, but of course doomposters reject all logic and reason, just like they rejected luckybancho the instant it stopped confirming their bias.
Sometimes I just want to go back in time and tell myself to stop at HW. SHB being so highly shilled as some grand return to form after STB still felt like the game's community becoming too big to fail at that point. Even ignoring the edgebait, the scions were just tiresome walking window dressings that you wish would get out of the way so that you could interact with the actually interesting characters of the expansion, Ardbert, G'raha and Emet-selsch. They were the only characters properly driving the macroplot and the rest just felt like utter drivel and I just couldn't bring myself to care about them.
Honestly, I just want ARR again. Sure, everyone treats you like shit, but you are just an unknown unburdened adventurer wanting to adventure, and you meet new people and help them and their very tangible problems.
MUH LIVING BREATHING WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORLD
I need to be in danger when I step out into the world anon, even though I killed gods I need mobs in the over world to oneshot me. Do bozja that has mobs like that? No.
Usually what they mean by "living breathing world" is they want to be permanently leveling up from 1 and they want to grind cows for eons.
Most of the time I see folks talk about the world being dangerous and needing unlimited grinding when their is stuff out their to do but they refuse to do it.
Frontlines or CC?
Rival wings
Neither unless you use scripts/bots to auto stun/LB or whatever instantaneously
FL if you just want the daily rewards. CC if you want actual PvP.
I just want the pvp armor
so are we not even pretending to have played the game now
requiring that people have to have played the game in order to have an opinion on it is an appeal to authority fallacy, cultist
I got your fallacy right here
you craving that fallussy?
10 years
posting in a thread for a game he does not play

Hes right though. SHB was not really that dark as people pretend it was. Like sure thematically it was a dire situation. But besides that scene the way it was depicted was pretty tame.
World of Warcraft is way better tbh
>he thinks it's COR still
Nah, WoL will be greenmage
All of you will kneel once it is reveal WoL is a Runefencer chad.
XIV peaked at the Red Dinner Party.
The point of this scene is to go
>"oh gee I sure hope I don't start vomiting pure light and turn into a monster"
which almost happens. That scene is just stakes. letting you know what sorts of body horror have been inflicted on Norvrandt.
we all know that all expansions had lore problems
but you can't deny that the ending for endwalker was the hypest shit ever
?si=ATlTJx7_ewXaG8V1
>That, I can't deny
>main theme blasting against a full powered up Zenos vs WoL
>that punch
Kenos is the best iteration of that style of rival archetype I’ve seen to be honest. Even not just as a rival but the archetype of I want to le fight le strong guys he’s the best, usually that character fricking sucks
everyone hated him exactly because of that, it was only through several patches that he was pic related
That was the worst fricking part of EW.
>My gay stalker boyfriend so cool and manly!!!!
Frick off.
>projecting this hard
I play as Juan Fantasia bro, it's your problem if you play as a homosexual cat or a cringy female
>outclasses relics and ultimate weapons
Will they ever match the awesomeness of the Abyssos weapons again?
Isn't this game a grindfest like all mmo? Even dialog grinding is grinding.
That's my main issue.
Life and every game is a grind
How much grind do you want? That is the question young grasshopper...
I prefer minimal grind.
I want fun
I was just asking chill dude. You need to work on your anger issues.
So you just wanted to shitpost?
why do you want to play an mmo to not grind thats the point of the genre please frick off
>Bro wanna go grind out some books at the library with me?
Books are literally grinding time gated content though
>books
>time gated
You're an actual moron
I'm just a slow reader, to get any value out of a book I need to invest time into it
Some books can be such a grind... all to say pretty standard education system bias.
>Even dialog grinding is grinding.
>tfw grinding dialogue in an RPG
No joke that is my biggest issue with modern rpg and open world. Just hours and hours of dialogue that I Don't. Fricking. Care. About.
I actually like dialogue and movie elements even book elements but I want some BREVITY. Also visuals when doing movie things.
WHY
WHY ARE YOU HERE THEN
GO PLAY LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE
STOP TRYING TO GET DEVS TO CHANGE THE GAME TO SUIT YOU NOT WANTING TO PLAY THE GENRE
HOLY FRICK
because he is the main character anon. he knows what is best
This thread was an FFIV complaint thread.
thats not an xiv complaint its you being a moron and whining that an RPG is a fricking RPG
Pack your shit and go back to The After Years then
>a valid complaint? in MY videogame?????? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>play shooter
>this game has too much shooting I think
>this is somehow a valid complaint
xiv has enough problems to complain about but this is just pure moronation
that's false equivalence and you just know it
the anon complains about being too much filler regarding dialogue, and he's right, especially with how the writing in this game is, where everyone regurgitates the last piece of information endlessly and to say hello they write three paragraphs
>This roleplaying game has too much roleplaying
>Can you make it more like CoD for me?
>reading dialogue is roleplaying
???
you know what roleplay is? letting you choose how your character acts, and make those acts have "consequences"
instead it's
*nods*
*clenches fist*
*smiles*
Okay fine
>This visual novel has too much reading
>Can you make it into CoD for me instead?
>This visual novel has too much reading
>Can you make it into CoD for me instead?
real chad is a silly exemplar and not an ADHD calla doody tween
>the genre
you know writing and dialogue being bad and having to slog through a ton of it isn't a hallmark of thew genre, right
you know we've had periods of time where the writing wasn't dogshit and having alot of dialogue didn't feel like a slog, right
He is clearly mentally ill and wants to force stuff to change for him.
No I like mmo exist and enjoy ASMR WOW gameplay. I was just asking question honest.
Play that then
I would like ASMR FFIV probably too
>RPGs are too wordy
Are you sure you want to play "RPG"s?
>READ THE SLOP BRO YOU HAVE TO READ ALL THE GARBAGE FILLER SLOP EVEN THE WRITERS DIDN'T GIVE A FRICK ABOUT PLEASE SIR I'M BEGGING YOU
dumb Black folk like you are a blight
Yea, RPGs are kind of known for that.
>RPGs are known for the bad writing
Yes, absolutely.
If they didn't care about it why did they write it then? Better luck next time kiddo.
because they have quotas and expectations to meet, dumbfrick
Yea I’m go grind some books when I get home from work
So there will never be these two things in a FF14 trailer
>a female WoL
>WoL as a caster
raidsisters...
it's over, time to sub to wow again, ffxivsisters
I think the most disappointing part of the expansion for me is how underutilized Sharlayan has been 90 percent of everything taking place in pooland and bombed out Garlemald is fricking awful.
>no super secret Sharlayan research lab where you have to be Mini'd to enter and the bosses are giant versions of level 1 mobs like ladybugs and star marmots
0/10
>say something moronic
>get mad when people call you a moron
every time
WHAT IF THAT WASN'T BAIT
WHAT IF IT REALLY WAS MY UNFILTERED DOG-SHIT OPINION
HUH
WHAT THEN
not him, but i choose to believe that everyone here who has spicy opinions are doing it for the lulz. this gives me faith in humanity, in that at worst case scenario they're just unfunny
You have to much faith Broccoli
Deryk is just like us frfr...
>makes the dialogue worth listening to and builds the world and lore
It just depends on how it's done
I feel like NV strikes a good balance too because you can skip a hefty amount of dialogue with certain options or only choose to listen to what interests you
There's brevity in what's said in a majority of cases too
It is why I liked BotW. Simple story that is effective. I like how the Master Sword glows in ganon castle. That type of shit I love more than 5 paragraph about master sword. But I also liked how in Ni no Kuni they had short stories in the wizard compendium which is a proper guide book built into the game.
then I would say I hope medicine improves enough to cure your moronation
>Stopped being the wanderer god to become the PvP god
How does he do it?
how do BRDs even get that high BH? Like everytime I use BRD it feels like ass to play and I'm wishing I was a MCH instead
BRD’s burst with 2/3 stacks is not bad, especially under LB and with your buffs up. It’s also a good job at finishing off stragglers in already won fights (like when a DRK DRG combo cleaves an entire team) by running in with two hard CCs. You can be aggressive as BRD, you have purify and guard like everyone else but you can freely but wardens on yourself and you aren’t easy to kill. You’re also ranged with good movespeed due to LB so you shouldn’t die
how do you not
bard is the only non-broken in FL class that I consistently get 80+ BH
just shoot lit casters and stay aware of your positioning
no one ever focuses you
It’s hilarious how hard oschonCHADs won
I am so fricking sick and tired of talking to girls in this game and finding out they're fricking troony freaks, Rev Mayers you fricking homosexual Janny I am gonna find out where you live and rape you!
I know it won't happen, but I'd really like to see the devs add racial questlines to the game. Would add some flavour and expand the lore for them, maybe give some thematic glamours as rewards as well.
Would be a nice addition, since job quests were killed off and replaced with role quests instead. yes, i'm still unhappy about it
>add racial questlines to the game.
When is 6.51?
Shortly after EU fanfest
Nice
Since there was no news about the end of the PvP season, which ends in .51 and they typically announce it two weeks in advance, probably the 31st.
Been grinding PvP again and it's insane just how much better every single class feels to play in its PvP form.
That's because class identity is stronger when you're not trying to fill forty buttons across twenty classes. Jobs should have no more than six to twelve abilities, anything beyond that introduces too much overlap and leads to homogenization.
the novelty wears off after a while and PvP toolkits suck ass if applied outside of PvP
pve would have to be a lot faster paced than it currently is. its part of the reason Eureka didn't explode in popularity till after the mob nerfs. because camping for 30 chain kills beforehand highlighted just how boring the rotations were when mobs without mechanics took as long as a minute to kill in a party of 8
The PVP jobs feel better, but they have too many mechanics that rely on the fact that you're not fighting a scripted boss.
>1111

The tradeoff is I'm doing more than standing in the right spot to not get clipped by the glorified light show.

>didn't even make a video

It's fricking over.
Whendo you think was the moment you think the devs just kind of stopped caring about how much/how good content their going to serve because they realized people will eat it up anyway?
It's Shadowbringers, don't even try to deny it. Endwalker just made it worse.
They've known for a very long time, given how good mogstation outfits sell.
shb postpatch
shadowbringers is where Ganker started spawning people that have an obsessive compulsion to prove the game is shit and "people will eat it up anyways", aka WoW brain rot
only shit eaters are left

Thats the content schedule
This is just irrefutable proof that cultist don't even read what they're replying to. They just defend the game with their fanboism and blinfold on.
>ffxiv players in 2024
that's not true and anyone who played back then and was here will remember.
FFXIchads... I'm ready to take it up... ffxiv is over...
XI is way more dead bro. But I guess you can come and do the story with Trusts.
why can't people just shut the frick up during hunt trains so i can find the coordinates in the chat easier instead of having to look through a bunch of circlejerking and tired memes
Just follow the horde dumbass.

it being released early i don't think is a pipe dream. i imagine yoshi-p is still chuffed at having to delay endwalker.
i don't mean like months earlier. but i could see maybe 2-3 weeks
newbies
>Developers never change release dates
It's been like this forever, since horsefart died and people pretended they shed tears and generally care about this literal who npc dying as per usual because only literal whos actually die in this game.
every time I see a haurchefant reference I feel a pang of legitimate sadness
>terminally online friendless loser feels no emotions
many such cases!
>terminally online friendless loser pretends to grieve over a video game character because he was told by other players that it was a really sad moment and he (yes HE) is desperate for any sense of community or belonging and is even so deranged and cultlike about this that he seeks out streamers playing through the story for the first time so he can join the struggle session with the other mentally stunted morons doing the same
that's a lot of words for you to confirm what I said about you was right dumb phoneposter
>Y-Y-YOU'RE A....A PHONEPOSTER YEAH!!!
Wow, sick ad hominem. I guess nobody is streaming through the MSQ for you right now so you wanna come here and act like a little b***h instead? Regular communal grieving over a video game character doesn't make you emotional or mature, it makes you an unstable homosexual.
very insecure post

damn dude that post really made you butthurt
just stop being so insecure
i hate how all the armor after ARR just gets more and more greeble-y, feels like I can't find something to rip this animu garbage off for my reaper without it being overly detailed as frick
I had hopes they'd import every XI set over after they did some of the Salvage sets in 2.2? or so but no, instead it just gets worse and worse.
Frankly the armor design in XIV is absolutely declining the further you get in. It says a lot that the most sought-after sets are either casual/fashion glam, or other FF game outfits.
well considering we jumped from like early XI-adjacent stuff to greebled garbage in like a singular expac, it isn't exactly surprising.

Ruined the lore and setting we've had for almost 10 years in favor in generic FF, XIV used to be better than the rest of the series
>Ruined the lore and setting we've had for almost 10 years in favor in generic FF
dude your story has Ivalice, a pastiche of FF3, elements of FF5, and both GIlgamesh and Omega as cross-dimensional motherfrickers bringing in fights from various other games as canon to 14 even before Shadowbringers came out
this entire story is absolutely fricktarded and only persists on a base set of rules that can be waived whenever the writers feel like it
those are good thing, not the Nomura slop modern XIV is
>stormbab coping
>nomura slop
the frick does this even mean
when i think nomura i think "every single character is now speaking nouns as verbs as everything is related to everyone and the entire plot is moronicly convoluted for absolutely no good reason"
xiv is hilariously piss baby simple even when it tried to add moral ambiguity, and the most "nomura" it gets is ancients were dindunuffins that caused almost everything
There are 2 kind of FF, only one of them fixes everything with the power of friendship
>XIV used to be better than the rest of the series
LMAO
I didn't really feel it until the latest raid series. They remove the Twelve and replace them with nothing. I guess the atheists clapped or whatever, but it removed some of the magic of the setting.
Ancients were a mistake
should've just ended it with Emet and Hydaelyn being a talking crystal
>mystery schizo
>chatgpt poster
Nah, I didn't like to see them go, but that was because they weren't gods but ancient automata. You're a cuck that is looking for a reason to worship something greater than yourself.
Square/Yoshi-P/Whoever else decided that Endwalker simply MUST conclude the current story, no matter how rushed and unsatisfying it might be really harmed the game in the process, possibly irreversibly.
Empire gets offscreened, cure for tempering is made just like that, gods are dead, just what is there to even care about in this new story? Voidsent? Fricking Zero?
They'll just go the Halo 343 route.
Even ancienter ancients.
>We need to kill ourselves because us being around is slowly dooming the planet
>Oh but you can turn back and not do this because you feel sad for your little monkey fella
>Also you'll give up your god status too with this and don't have to worry about killing the planet by being alive
Why did they even do this for the other deities
They were tired and wanted to die. Oschon was the only one who still wanted to stick around and see more of the world.
>Why did the community lie to me?
This is a common theme in general. They'll deepthroat the story in every thread and then you actually play the game and figure out just how much of a nothingburger the entire thing actually is. Biggest fricking waste of my time was playing from ARR-Stormblood. Everyone on the team wants to be the next Matsuno and none of them have a single ounce of the talent that him and his team had, save maybe the artists, but even that is fricked over by seeing some troon in literal jeans and a t-shirt run past every 5 minutes. And no, that isn't anecdotal, you can got to /xivg/ right now and get 75% of the thread to admit they are uggos who play the game to dress in clothes they look like shit in IRL.
So yeah, the "community" is shit.
Wasn't a large part of ShB's story about Sin Eater onions green or whatever? Plus the scene where Ardbert has to stand there and impotently listen to helpless guys getting slaughtered by Sin Eaters seemed pretty dark to me.
Sorry anon but you are NOT allowed to bring that up. It doesn't count. It just doesn't. Stop ruining my goddamn narrative by actually having played the game.
XIV in terms of general content is probably the darkest game in the entire franchise besides JACK IS BACK slaughterfest and Dirge of Cerberus being absolutely fricked. They then offset it with the absolutely most goofy bullshit imaginable like there's two games is one.
?t=487
The power of friendship is quite literally an underlying theme of the entire franchise, from the basics to the complex, from understated due to simplistic stories and characters to characters being literal lifelines for each other to live in doomed worlds or the like. It's about as Final Fantasy as you can get. How cheesy it is per game varies, though.
You forgot Type-0
I always forget Type-0, I think it's one of the only ones I never played much past the tutorial on because of rentals and family cancer drama at the time.
I really appreciate XVI's very literal take on "punch god in the face with the power of friendship". It was just the "No, yours is the fantasy. And we will be its final witness." that I found really corny and off putting but the rest was awesome.
Take a guess which side XIV used to be more like and which is slowly turning into now (and becoming a worse game as a result)
>(and becoming a worse game as a result)
Let's not be idiotic and pretend that the tone of the story has anything to do with how fricking barren the expansion is of long term viable content.
Endwalker has nothing but Eureka Orthos in that regard, a single deep dungeon
Friendship is there in FF11, 12, 9, and even Tactics. Ramza literally gets to ride off into the sunset with his sister and companions canonically because he actually gave a damn about other people whereas Delita betrayed everyone and everything and ended up at the top with a dead wife and a potentially fatal stab wound.
Did you think the entire Ivalice raid's ending was just fake-writing a happy ending onto a tragedy? That was Matsuno just referencing the actual canon ending he himself admitted he wanted for the original and then tweaking it into XIV's lore.
>That was Matsuno just referencing the actual canon ending he himself admitted he wanted for the original
Not that it is really relevant, but the reason Tactics was left ambiguous is because (like Vagrant Story) it is an after-the-fact account of the events. The moral of the story obviously remains the same, showing the player only Delita's fate was more than intentional.
I'm just paraphrasing what Matsuno said, but yeah, the ambiguity was probably better overall for the story and leaving things to twitter statements like 5% of anyone has ever heard of is probably for the best. It makes it a lot less blatant an aesop when it's ambiguous if Ramza and Alma survived or not.
>Did you think the entire Ivalice raid's ending was just fake-writing a happy ending onto a tragedy?
Yes, absolutely. Matsuno got old and senile and like all Japanese artists seem to be doing they're going back and retconning all their shit into being spineless and permanently happy uwu giggle huggle times. There was no way for Ramza and crew to escape the airship graveyard. The glyph was destroyed, not that they even had time to run for the glyph when Ultima nuked them point blank as she died. Oran was coping.
>Yes, absolutely. Matsuno got old and senile and like all Japanese artists seem to be doing they're going back and retconning all their shit into being spineless and permanently happy uwu giggle huggle times.
RtI isn't a retcon though
It's not a retcon, it's a completely separate series of events. And then after it came out Matsuno went on twitter and started saying how Ramza and Alma lived and Ovelia survived and lived happily with Delita.
>It's not a retcon, it's a completely separate series of events.
Then why did you say it was a retcon?
>And then after it came out Matsuno went on twitter and started saying how Ramza and Alma lived
This was always the case, although I don't know about that other shit with Delita and Ovelia.
>Then why did you say it was a retcon?
I said he retconned it, I didn't say Return to Ivalice was the retcon. He retconned the events of FFT and said Return to Ivalice was how it actually was.
...bro have you even played the shit that you are talking about? RtI is what happens when Ramza dies, not what happens when he lives. And he never said RtI was "actually how it was", it's in fact the complete opposite. He's been saying Ramza was alive since like 2012, at least.
>like all Japanese artists seem to be doing they're going back and retconning all their shit into being spineless and permanently happy uwu giggle huggle times
it's the opposite. I dunno if Rebuild of Evangelion broke you or what, but most of this shit, especially Final Fantasy shit, is going back and utterly making everything fricking miserable and edgy just for the sake of it because there's money to be made by more sequels.
for the love of god if you even remotely like the original Eureka Seven, ignore everything of the Hi-Evolution movies
why do people still play/talk about this gay game
>Chrono Cross into XI into Dumpsterfrick 14
thanks for reminding me
too bad XI is too incestuous on pservers and too bot-ridden on retail to play still
how does FFT have any lineage to FF6 when Tactics was 90% Matsuno's team from Quest?
the entire image is moronic, but they probably saw that Ito was on Tactics and not FFVII and just slapped it on there.
>Flood of Light had already destroyed most of the world and the survivors were mostly just scraping together whatever they could to survive as long as possible (Crystal Exarch had been trying to keep shit held together for longer than 100 years)
>Amh Araeng path shows that the battle is a losing one, and people who fail are painfully transformed into Sin Eaters
>Eulmore path shows that Vauthry is enforcing his will over the stragglers outside of the city by feeding them Sin Eaters in the form of Meol, which not only makes them more suggestible, but also makes it easier to transform them into Sin Eaters when their usefulness has passed
>Il Mheg's entire populace was aware that they weren't going to survive forever, and instead of panicking, opted to surround themselves in illusions and play in bliss until the day comes (Even Feo Ul offers the WoL a space in castle to be pampered and protected against every potential hunter if they turned into a Lightwarden)
>After taking out all of the Lightwardens and finally restoring the world to a semi-stable state, you're introduced to Amaurot and everything that happened during the Final Days, the reason why the Ascians are so devoted to their purpose and focus, and that the extremely few non-sundered Ancients have been at this game for thousands of years, failing desperately because of a combination of Hydaelyn imbuing mortals with the abilities to stop them, and other mortals simply being ridiculously determined to not let their worlds fall
>Emet-Selch/Hades realized he wasn't going to be able to do this forever either, and dies on a note simply hoping that the wienerroach people who inherited the world(s) would remember that they were once whole before the chaos that engulfed them
It was an extremely heavy arc in the story. I don't get shitposters acting like ShB was some kind of jolly adventure outside of a few spikes.
Ascians are probably the weakest part of XIV and you can't convince me otherwise.
AscianS as a whole, yes
Emet-Selch, no
As someone who is fiercely disinterested in Ascians at this point, and feels as if the Ancients being tied into every single crucial element of the setting has firmly killed a massive amount of mystique and joy of learning about the world, I can easily agree, but the first experiences with Amaurot, the mystery of the "Sound", and their early introduction were perfectly fine. I'd argue after 5.0, we were on a downhill climb, but through the 6.X cycle we were in total freefall. I'm just hoping 7.0 and beyond is COMPLETELY divorced of them.
A dark part of the story that everyone is missing is that the awakening of the echo is fake and gay, it’s completely hollow.
I'm okay with the notion that it's basically Ancient PTSD with superpowers associated, but I'm not okay with the notion that basically just showing someone .mp4 of a comet storm is sufficient to cause mass-Echo awakenings, moreso that apparently nobody who had their Echos brought up did anything with them other than Zenos, Fordola, and the WoL.
in hindsight how many Scions were present for that frickery again
how is it that none of them conveniently opened up an Echo witnessing that too
They aren’t shards of amaurotines so they would not awaken to events of the final days. It’s not part of their souls memory
Minfilia was personally witness to the starshower after the Battle of Silvertear Skies, but she didn't awaken until years later after having strange dreams.
What does Asmomburn think?
I feel like this shit is just bait at this point
in the past few days, there has just been an influx of posts that are really just a bunch of drivel based on misinterpreting or ignoring information disclosed in-game, and when someone points this out they just go
>errmmmmm okay but that's stupid so that means I won ok?
Because at the end of the day if you criticize XIV's storytelling you are unironically dumb and wrong.

Only through deception can they praise the dullest MMORPG ever made. Seriously each expansion following the Warrior of Light and his pals from Sharlayan as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the PS2 imagery, the games only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of particle effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Square Enix vetoed the idea of Tanaka directing the game; they made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for their earlier games. Final Fantasy XIV might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Dragon Quest in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the story is good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the VN was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character died, the author wrote instead that the character was merely incapacitated.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that trope was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Ishikawa's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Final Fantasy XIV by the same Ion Hazzikostas. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Final Fantasy XIV at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to play World of Warcraft." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Final Fantasy XIV" you are, in fact, trained to play World of Warcraft.
>Only through deception can they praise the dullest MMORPG ever made
Stopped reading right here, as every word after this is blind hyperbole. Nobody who has played any other MMO would call XIV "the dullest" of the genre by any metric.
Damn, you already played Dawntrail?
It would've been cool of the Twelve indulged themselves with normal lives instead of killing themselves.
you see, this is why i said what i did earlier. they just have bad senses of humor. no one could misinterpret the story, or miss such information, on on accident
The romantic expression is a good way to lure them in, but on the floor?
On a carpet?
its for cuddling in front of the fireplace
Ok now it makes a lot of sense
Good taste
no there are people who are genuinely moronic, just like how there are people who genuinely think xiv is flawless
When do they usually raise the weekly tome cap? .55 or later?
.55, I believe. So January-ish.
Thanks. That sucks honestly. Way too many gear sets in the game, bis takes far too long at 450/week on alt classes.
People cry and shit their pants whenever you dare to suggest that the gearing process is shit and takes too long, so I doubt it'll ever change.
More weekly tomes, more savage raid drops and more books, have Criterion Savage dungeons and Alliance Raids drop Savage level gear and weapons.
>People cry and shit their pants whenever you dare to suggest that the gearing process is shit and takes too long, so I doubt it'll ever change.
But all anyone is doing right now is sucking eceleb raider teats about wanting the gearing process to change
I agree albeit
See and that's what I fricking hate.
Because some e-celeb said it suddenly the entire fricking opinion that gearing is way too long for alts is fricking invalid and ridiculous to even suggest.
Man frick this. 8 fricking weeks to get a piece of gear for ONE alt. If I regularly play 4 jobs just to fill one per role that's on average 4 fricking months of reclears, even more if you don't get lucky with drops after the first 8 clears. Frick that, man. These raids are not enjoyable for that long.
But OHHH XENOSYS VEX SAID HE WANTS THAT so now everyone agreeing with him is an e-celeb dick sucker, just git gud! I bet you don't even raid Savage! Fricking hell man.
Hey now Anon, you're not alone
Before the ecelebs cried about it, I was crying about twine/shine for a long time
Most people are cattle, they are meant to be controlled and led by someone so this shouldn't be surprising
If I'm going to be honest, I don't understand the point of timegating savage gear. I get the logic of "Oh we gotta keep them subbed for longer!!!!!", but if I had 660 perfect gear across the board on one job, there's still literally nothing to fight where that gear will make a dramatic difference in. I could do Ultimates, but the ilvl sync already negates any significant benefits to that. Savage is already what I had to beat to get the top-tier gear. Deep Dungeons run on a completely different system, Bozja caps at level 80 everything and scales on different features, and Eureka is purely about elemental stats. I'd rather they get rid of the arbitrary timegate AND give us something that rewards top-tier gear autism.
I think timegating the gear makes sense until the next odd-numbered patch, just to prevent autists from getting BiS near the end of Week 1 and gearing all the difficulty out of the fights.
If you clear week 1 with crafted gear then I don't think "gearing all the difficulty out of the fights" matters anyways. Might as well just make reclears more bearable.
Oh, I thought you meant tome gear. My guess is that they want to discourage clear selling, kind of like how they do the diminishing loot.
That's alright, I do mean tome gear as well.
I want the weekly tome limit to be boosted to 825 at least
I want Savage to drop an additional token and/or double the books received per kill.
I want Criterion Savage to ether have their own Savage lvl gear or let you buy Twine/Savage books.
I want Alliance Raids to drop Savage lvl gear and have Twine exchanges day 1.
Just speed it up. By the time Alliance Raids are out nobody should give a frick anyways so just let people get the gear.
>gearing process is shit and takes too long
You have never played a game where gearing process was long. You are like a pampered little fricking baby.
>BUT OTHER GAME
Go frick yourself, nobody cares. Other gearing processes don't apply to this game and you are fricking stupid for even suggesting it.
FFXIV is the easiest and fastest mmo to gear in. The only one that's stupid here is you, parsehomosexual.
>hmm spending 8 months on reclears is totally fine, because in another game it takes 9 months! i am very intelligent 🙂
Hey anon maybe the gearing in other games is rank as well, what does that have to do with the fact that gearing alt jobs in XIV takes too long
You can't even start gearing them until like 8 weeks in
>i HATE playing video game
maybe stop playing mmos they clearly aren't for you if you think XIVs gearing is such a problem zoomie
Are you seriously implying that not wanting to mindlessly grind the same content for 8 months just for numeric gear upgrades means you hate the video game
Are you a WoW player by chance
I've never touched WoW, but keep deflecting homosexual
Right
Good luck in Throne of the Tides mate
>Go into a genre known for gear grind
>Hey can you guys remove the gear grind?
Go play something else and leave us to the thing you hate.
NO I AM THE MAIN CHARACTER ME ME ME ME, IF YOU DONT AGREE YOUR A WOWgay
>gearing all jobs
Who in their right minds would bother with this shit
>FFXIV is the easiest and fastest mmo to gear in.
In GW2 you can hit level 80 and then buy a set of exotics off of the auction house for 20 gold and you're set for the rest of the game, even when new expansions drop. In FFXIV you hit level cap and you either have to drop hundreds of thousands of gil to buy a crafted set of gear that isn't even BIS and will be made obsolete in a few months, or you have to do several days of roulettes to buy tomestone gear that will become obsolete in a few months.
>hundreds of thousands of gil
You can get one million in a month of nothing but duty roulettes. You can make three times that in a couple of days of doing map parties in PF. You have to actively not want to play the game to be short on gil.
>If I make up a shitty dramatic exaggeration it will prove him wrong!
You don't need more than crafted gear, anything beyond that is a luxury and having best in slot raid gear is utterly pointless.
>anything beyond that is a luxury and having best in slot raid gear is utterly pointless.
I see, I see, so there's no harm in speeding up raid drops and weekly tomes so you can be done with the raid faster then, right?
correct. get your parses in NOW. don't wanna be left holding that green, do you?
Too late. 6.5 ensured that DNC will always be #1 DPS.
>I want that luxury content and I want it now!
No, you will fall in line with the rest of them, maggot.
>You can get one million in a month of nothing but duty roulettes.
Speedrunning the same dungeons over and over isn't fun.
there is no mode of play in FFXIV in which you can't make money doing it, excepting gold saucer stuff but thats not gil based. none. even RP.
you choose to be poor
It's intentionally timegated, but Augmented Diadochos is the equivalent of unaugmented tome gear (substats aside). You could also do Savage for an extra piece every few weeks, if you care that strongly about gearing up.
honestly it's hilarious how inflated iLvls are now. I have a max-as-of-current Manderville and two pieces of unaugmented tome gear, the rest is unaugmented diadochos on my DRK, and I soar past content levels this patch cycle. I obviously don't do savage/high-end content, but the casual player can get by on virtually everything with smart marketboard usage and it's kind of ridiculous how moronic of a grind the tomes are at this point by comparison
That's because they're tuning the new stuff for ridiculously low ilvls now. The new alliance raid had people skipping mechanics from early kills on day one. Not even sweaty tryhard groups, just DF.
Good. I don't want another Tower at Paradigm's Breach where I'm trapped in there for 45 minutes even when everyone is BiS.
I agree but they've gone too far in the other direction, now there's no challenge even on day one.
>be shadowbab
>do copied factory a lot for glam
>endwalker launches
>do copied factory again a couple weeks after finishing MSQ
>everyone's gear is scaled down
>fights last way longer
>start to see mechanics I never saw before
>each fight lasts 10 min
bullshit, or maybe everyone was just bad, usually it's the addicts that at least know how to play that are playing at the end of an expac so maybe that difference was just jarring
there was a stat squish in endwalker that also fricked up a lot of things the nier raids were like one of the biggest offenders of the number change making everything take ages in some content
funny thing is, post squish, at 560, MSQ AF level, you were about the same as you would havebeen as a fresh 70 in stormblood fighting Shinryu normal. we are already at Shadowbringers levels of HP again
don't forget Belts being removed, they were useless stat sticks but removing them just fundamentally removed stats in the squish too
probably folks complaining back with the early patches. once you hit EW endgame in '21, you were kinda stuck with very little for gearing, and then the Patches rocketed the frick up requiring you to spam Fell Court to even hope to do the latest Raid stuff or the like and the iLvls were kinda like that for a bit with each successive patch until now. my guess is they just lowballed it to avoid the spike issue again of people being swiftly locked out so long as they've been decently prepping.
>Not even sweaty tryhard groups, just DF.
Anon
Everyone is decked in max iLvL BiS raid gear at this point
Especially on week 1 and on every reset day
Even casuals have maxxed tome gear and some have been grinding twines daily from hunts
so how are those relics coming along?
are you gonna be ready for 6.55?
just stockpiling meteorites till we know what the final forms look like. speaking of i dunno if i've actually done the one for my main class
I really hope that it's the joke weapons from the design contest
I'd fricking laugh my ass off so hard if they did that
I know they won't. They'll probably just drop those on the GS at some point. But a man can hope
Still need RPR and DNC, but I'm spending my uncapped to augment my crafted gear right now.
People still think we're getting Corsair...? Lol
We already have Paladin, Dark Knight and Samurai for muhswordusers, and people doubt it'll just be a fancy sword-wielding class. Plus the WoL looks kinda swashbuckling. Even if it is Corsair I highly doubt it'd even resemble the original, though, hence people assuming it'd be like a reverse Red Mage of piling on melee damage and then blasting.
If it's a Scouting job, it fits in with how most of NIN's mudras can be cast from range.
bouncy boobs
how

it's probably this
new boob jiggle mod that's been floating around
I set it to maximum jiggle
lmao they jiggle like jello
I'm guessing it works on npcs?
I must know for sure.
>resellers having to sell the blizzcon tickets at half-price because no one is buying them
grim
what happened?
>mfw scalpers get fricked
hey cool it with the racist and anti-semitic remarks
only thing I care about is seeing scalpers get raped
frickers
I'd say im 90% certain on Corsair/Green Mage now.
When does the final Alliance Raid get put into the roulette? 6.55?
hey guys, shoot your shot!
Holy mother of red flags
yes. someone needs to warn those 30+ year old men that they are gonna get groomed
Well?
>lalagay is esl
who would have guessed
quick question before we go: how the frick do you sell houses now?
Make up a specific date and time and relocate.
You can't, those are scams.
The only way I could see it is an FC house, where they basically sell you an FC with a house.
You can sell FC plots by essentially selling the FC ownership to a person. Anything else is a lie and scam.
