Ultimates in general are unfun wastes of time riddled with cheap 1-shot mechanics and are the worst "Friend-check" in the entire game.
UCOB was the only good ultimate which makes sense given it was the last piece of content dropped by the great Kenji Sudo before he dipped.
UWU is too much of a stupid puzzle to bait twitch views and TEA while decent, is too frontloaded (which may be a good thing depending on how you feel).
With Dragonsong and TOP they went too far in the direction of, hey, let's make all mechanics require all 8 people to perform all permutations at all times, that will be fun, right? Well it wasn't. The devs fell for the meme of trying to arms race the rising player skill, even in Savage, as a result of which raiding feels like shit because you can't hope to carry even one moron on the team.

This, YoshiP and crew are making the exact same mistakes as the WoW devs which is why WoW is so fricking dead now. Instead of creating content where the best player can have fun experimenting with base gameplay systems that allows them to carry others to victory (if needed) they just said "Frick it, lets just make the skill floor and ceiling so close to each other that they almost kiss since that is easier to manage".

There is no "midcore" content in the game since the game is designed is such a way that it will never allow there to be room for it along with the fact that it's easier to just please the ultracasuals since they barely play the game anyway, so the devs can just shit out whatever turd on a plate and the trannies in Limsa will be forever happy as long as said turds contain new glam and/or hairstyles. The raid trannies are gonna get sick of this shit design eventually even though they are the ones that will technically gain from it the most if they like the spreadsheet autism that is raid logging, the current job design makes it easy to see and use numbers to inflate your epeen after all.

I unironically miss the job balance and utility of ARR in raids. Even HW killed a lot of what we had.
Hell, the 2.1 patch ruined pet AI and everybody cheered because they didn't know there was a difference between Sic-> Obey and Steady -> Obey.
Dsr took 2 years to even come out and had no effect on the rest of the game. You guys should be b***hing about savage. TOP was trash though and hard for bad reasons, I'm fine with DSR being the pinnacle of difficulty for the game.

I'm 100% they don't take fun into consideration. They just want to make the hardest piece of garbage they can think of since they're japs and literally their job is to keep you in the hamster wheel.
DSR does not 8/8 check you nearly as often as TOP. You can raise people into the Strength tower or tank invuln in it. You can raise before meteors. You can actually eat a death in Dive from Grace if you rez fast and don't snowball. You can have non-baits die in Wrath and recover deaths in DoTH. People can die to Nidhogg mechanics in P6. You can have non-tank deaths in P7 as long as autos aren't fricked.
For reference: Heavensfall is way more of an 8/8 check than DoTH and harder.
As a healer player TOP is the only fun ultimate in terms of movement/slidecasting. DSR is so boring as healer.

TOP without the auto attack bugs is now both the hardest and best ultimate. It's nice to being kept in your toes as a DPS and at best hold 5 seconds, at worst squeeze every phase. Meanwhile in Thordan you are afk for 2 minutes and have to hold an entire year after the debuff.

Once Thordan gets Discomposed he gets destroyed. If you want DPS mitigation on Nidhogg stacks you have to just sheathe your weapon or he dies too esrly. Thordan 2 also has no HP and if you don't hold until his enrage your Double Dragon pot gets fricked. This one is even worse because if you don't hold P5 and P6 you can potentially screw the entire party because 1 tank will be missing invuln for 6-1-1.
Not sure which mit plan your static/datacenter pf is following but both Nidhogg stacks have Temperance + Reprisal + Kerachole + Seraph/Panhaima in the 2nd. Can't comment on that 6-1-1 issue as EU always does 3-2-2 in Akh Morns. (imo 6-1-1's only advantage is that healers get to parse)
You'd throw 1 feint from whoever did heel on 1st stack and feint + addle from UE on 2nd stack. You can do it without it but it is just way more comfy. 6-1-1 makes healing Akh Morn so much easier that there is little reason not to do it, when it also makes most tank mit plans braindead.
I play GNB so it just becomes Kitchen Sink -> Bolide -> Kitchen Sink.

What's REALLY happening is SHB made the game popular, therefor CBU3 doesn't have to try anymore. Until the subs dip back to HW and SB era (they won't) you're forever stuck with no content, boring fights, and all rewards going to mogstation.
This is what happens when there is no real competition. There is no reason for them to aim beyond mediocrity.

I don't know what EW has done but it has killed the enthusiasm for the game for everyone I know.
Limsa is still filled to the point where you get massive pop-in when you are walking past the crystal though so either the terminally online players have literally nothing left to do in the game (and hasn't had anything to do for atleast 4 patches now) or every single one of them is just there for the "RP" and don't give a single frick about the game itself anymore which used to be a meme but now seems to be a reality

They won't since 15 min isn't a lot of time to waste for a lot of people but if people notice sandbaggers in harder/longer raids, they'll just dip and brick the sandbaggers attempt I should know, I've experienced and done it multiple times myself. The easiest way to fix this problem is for the devs to simply start enforcing a "NO AFK IN THE ROULETTE!" rule that players have been begging for since fricking HW that or allow players to kick others even while loot is rolling/combat is happening if atleast 2/3rds of players agree with the vote and lets be honest, everyone is going to agree since before this announcement people had already stopped looting boxes and even started waiting at the start of the run to catch sandbaggers in an attempt to get rid of them on EU and JAP datacenters

The few times I've seen kicks get past the "loot/combat" filter they've had a 80% success rate on EU data-centers since NO ONE likes a leech, even in piss easy content where their contribution saves only 10 sec at best. It's also extremely easy to see when people are just following the herd and pressing 1 button over and over again since every single class in the game has unique animations for every action regardless of the graphical flare that is being produced by the action. Anyone who has ever paid attention to what the other jobs look like will immidietly pick up on sandbaggers if they just try.
But like you said, this will only happen as long as your in a high trust community, the moment that fades is the moment people stop giving a shit even if they notice it, which is pretty much what have happened to the PvP community in the game multiple times now

Because they're good and not that many people play ranked so there isn't a lot of competition and the skill floor for t100 is low. Also t100 is around 70% main characters and 30% alts and tourists from other DCs.

Hello fellow top100, I have seen a few cases of suspicious shit in the seasons I've played but it is greatly overstated, this is further helped by the fact that everyone in upper crystal knows everyone else anyways due to how small the scene ultimately is and most of the people who are fighting for top100 spots know when something doesn't add up.

The one time I tried seriously to play ranked I queued as a healer in Season 3 or 4, and I got absolutely devoured by everyone insulting me and what not, I really didn't like that.
So I played Frontline only.
While all the cool guys in the den were doing Feast.
At least I was able to get stuff like Shatter tittle, and Seal rock full gear and tittle too, all the mounts and even 2 GC horses.
But looking back, I wish I tried harder.
They added the season 1-4 accessories from Feast to the Trophy Crystal store and nobody complained, so hopefully.

It was already not that Tanky before the Nerf but it had good movement, gap closers and stun. It's moveset complimented the squishy nature of War pre 6.3 to make it viable if you knew what you were doing, but after the Nerf it's useless you get Nuked so fast I had to stop using it.
I'm sure a 0.1% player can make it work but I can't I'm not that good and I freely admit to it, I changed to Paladin and Sam in PVP. Which I hate as I loved playing as War.

This, the best way to check if someone is cheating in the match is by doing the following

>Press LB
>Take note of who threw a CC your way the very next server tick or two
>Report
If you wanna make extra sure (although it will probably cost you the game) do it twice and try too keep a close eye on who is targeting you right before and right after the LB and you'll be able to report that player with a 90% probablility that they are a cheater. It's even easier to check if you are using ACT or have some addon that keeps track of every action in the game like ACT
even if you report and its that obvious, GM wont do a shit
they will get called into gaol and be asked "are you there?", the cheater will reply "yes" and the gm will send em free because they're too lazy to do their jobs and the dude replied.
it's the same shit as gatherer bots, if you /tell them they have a default reply telling that they're online and playing, and the gm take it at face value too.

I'm not really sure why they haven't tried doing something like this with the artifact gear, like giving it some interesting interactions or gear set bonuses. They're clearly trying to test what types of effects they can grant specific weapons (like the crafter relic), so it'd be nice for them to keep experimenting with the system.

What makes SE even more moronic is that Kaiten could have been used as SGEs Eukrasia. Eukrasia is literally the perfect fix for any and all button bloat that the game currently has since it give the player the abillity to turn 5 buttons into 9 buttons without having to bind more if used correctly.
Just imagine:

IMO, kaiten wasn't that interesting of an abillity and I'm not that sad about it being gone but god damn, they could have actually, I don't know, redesigned it instead of axing it like they've done with almost all of the "clunky" actions in this game. To the devs credit though, they did try to fix pets without straight up removing them for 3 fricking expansions with their last attempt still having them play a part in SMN rotation atleast

As someone who played SAM since SB, I actually really like that my overall damage isn't based on whenever Midare would crit or not.
I'm not even a parse troony but it just felt bad.
And in EW SAM had now 2 Midare and 2 Namikiri depending on whenever it would crit.
It just felt awful.

I had a raid team full of ulti raiders doing an alt group run, one of the players was just very very bad, nice person but bad, they got stuck in high concept for 2 months because that single body check, until they eventually gave up, and this is because they were trying to be nice and get this person a clear, and even thou we all had cleared the fight dozens of times in the core group, they simply couldn't get pass the fricking body check moronic thing.

SAM variance would've been a nightmare in Abyssos and TOP. They put way too much potency in the 2min window which caused giant swings in damage depending on if 4 specific GCDs crit or not. They also did not have to remove Kaiten, they could've easily made it a guarantee Crit self buff. They removed it because they wanted it gone.
You can 7/8 HC if you get lucky. HC2 might require some rescue gaming.
Literally every MMO with raids as their main content have ahd problems with both shitters and raid trannies crying bloody murder over when it's not balanced SPECIFICALLY for them, even when it's literally just a 1-2% difference as seen in this game
They've been "experimenting" with it for years now, just look at the elemental gear from Eureka or the Bozja gear that gives "haste". They are just afraid of adding it as a regular thing into the base game since they don't want to deal with balancing it around the fragile egos of raid trannies

For one, the heals are not carbon copies of each other.
For two, people want to play healer to heal. The issue is in the CONTENT not the jobs.
Healers should dps, but healing checks are too fricking minimal and too easy to deal with using ogcds.
Just look at how tenacity for tanks is basically worthless now, because bosses barely do damage even with tank busters.
Same case with how tanks barely have aggro to deal with anymore. Outside of shit like golbez ex where you have to have the off tank provoke one hit of a mechanic there's jack shit for them to deal with.
Even if you stacked tenacity it takes so many points to tier and it gives such a tiny boost max ten would still not even reach 5% DR. A single cooldown is worth more than all the tenacity in the world and you do more damage. It's just a badly designed stat.
It's sizable in ARR and HW, but the way stats scale kills it after.
SCH and SGE don't play similarly in their heals beyond having a barrier focus.

The only differences between the healers is if they are AST or Barrier healers. You are correct with the rest of your post though. Tanks have NOTHING to deal with which makes all of them feel the same along with all of them literally being "1-2-3 until meter fills then press 4-5-6 or 5-5-5". PLD is the one that has any semblence of identity left since atleast their little gimmick isn't completely reliant on filling their bar (if you don't count mana lmao) and they have buttons that can actually help others in some massive ways that only WAR comes close to being able to replicate

I vividly remember how with Twintania and Nael back in the day, even basic auto attacks from the boss were something that healers had to stay on top of. And cleaves (do they even exist anymore?) were basically mini tankbusters every 10 seconds or so.
And now boss autos are just let the fairy / kardia heal it, and there's maybe a handful of big attacks to heal through per fight. I like doing dps as a healer, but it was more fun when it was more about sneaking in dps in between constant damage that needed to be recovered.

There's gear with SkS and SpS though. It's just that it tiers so slowly that crit and dh absolutely destroy it. Even for BLMs. This 2.5-ish crit meta is entirely SEs doing.
That would just devalue it to the point where it becomes pointless along with the fact that if the effects are powerful enough they will end up with the same "ilvl" problem that the WoW team has where even if the newer gear has a higher ilvl it's still worse than the lower ilvl stuff thanks to set-bonuses, procs or other special effects. If they ever add it into the game then the game needs to be designed around the fact that some pieces of gear from old content will always be better in some regards, regardless of their ilvl.
I don't think a lot of players would care that much since it was deemed "bad" in WoWs playerbase thanks to how hard it was to get into old content but in XIV old content is easy as frick to get done as long as you are just willing to wait for the duty finder to do its thing. The game should just stop increasing the ilvls so much and probably stop increasing the levels now that we will reach 100 and instead structure a new endgame around getting a hold of "chase items" instead, that would fix A LOT of the current problems with the game IMO
What about super minor effects like "Firestarter now has a 80% chance to proc" or "Holy III now deals 200% potency to the first target"? Just small things that slightly change your rotation for *some* variance.

The thing is, if there are enough of these gear pieces that all have different effects that stack ontop of eachother then that would be hard as frick to balance even though 90% of the playerbase would have fun with it. This means that for every piece of gear that has an effect like that in the game they need to make sure that it doesn't have buggy interactions with other gear, it needs to always be "balanced" with every new piece that is released after and they would need to balance all future content around players having multiple of these pieces or even just one really weird piece forever more.
It's not impossible to do but since YoshiP and crew as so god damn affraid of balance as a concept they are NEVER going to do it without massive saftey rails around it like locking the gear to specific zones/content in the game which honestly doesn't sound that bad but it would get annoying quickly for players to keep track of all their gear when they want to do content that has gearchecks built around gimmick gear from a previous patch

Hate Abyssos all you want but imo Hephaistos (forma Resident Evil) was a really cool encounter, both music and visuals. High Concept was a bit boring though, it could've been an uptime mechanic.

here's what i did for my healer alt
>join a pf for your prog point
>once you survive it move to the next prog point even if you have to join another party
>repeat until enrage/clear
>try clear parties
>if they don't work, make a c41 or try to join a weekly reclear on tuesday make sure you don't trap the party
>do this for all fights
and there you go, at this point you'll have all the shitters that haven't been able to clear, hell even p12s is now infested with parasites that couldn't clear p11s for 2 months and we get parties claiming anbs is better
you could wait for 6.5 and catch up with some players that returned in that patch. 6.5 will also have alliance raid gear + augmented crafted gear which can help you with stats i guess.
There's a slight revival in the tier with the augmented crafted gear in 6.5. Do P10S and you'll have cleared the tier.

It's a shitty lopporrit mount that you can tell was inteded for the beast tribe rewards but they forgot to make an actual pvp reward so they put it into the pvp battlepass. you also get the "hand to your heart" emote at like level 5 in the pass.
