Erenville was obviously not planned to become a main character. The Icelandic VA dude is good, but he's a wrong fit for the personality they're developing for the character.
That's the proboem with the dub. They cast whoever and ignore how the character is cast in JP despite the JP side casting intentionally based on what the writers tell them the character is like. That's why there's so many immensely shitty English castings like Erenville, Feo Ul, or Yuyuhase.

english voices for the entire 6.x patch series have been fricking horrible, bad takes and every new character is just one of the scions putting on a funny voice while superior jp/fr versions get new actors for every one of the twelve
people are still riding the high of shadowbringers as if that wasn't 5 years ago, they had a massive budget reduction on the english side or something but the dub has been low quality for a while now

I've played xiv since SB. I was willing to give the troony VA a chance but as I expected, he's really bad. It puts a damper on the whole thing because not only is she going to be a key character going into the expac, she's also the rep for the newly added female hroths. I'm honestly pretty bummed. I'm not about to switch to jp audio but I'm prepared to if the VA is bad enough.

I might roll the gunblade Ruby Red for a Monado but yeah I'm not feeling most of them.
We are probably going to get a leveling set, a dungeon set, and a raid set in 7.0 that match the relic aethestics. Also it works pretty well with most generic glams and they put effort the weps i want to use to make sure they dont clip with gear/umbrellas. These relics are just way better than ShB or SB relics overall imo. I do have an unshakeable fear that this hildebrand+tomestone system is going to be status quo for relics from now on though.

Asura was pretty good, I also think the new relic weapons look neat. I also thought Jullus showing up for the last island sanctuary bit was a nice send off.
I also enjoyed the Asura fight, but it's stupid easy for a Tank. I had 8 stacks of Vuln just to test and lived through everything. It's nothing like the Yojimbo/Greg where there was an actual mechanic to worry about.

Which is why CBU3 has been investing resources into exploring cloud hosted solutions. XIV already has an experimental data center for it, and XI is going to get the same treatment either this or next year going by what the XI Producer was hinting at recently.
The XI devs said they were also thinking about linking XI and XIV subs together, guess one way of keeping the lights on is to tether it to a more popular game.
Although given how archaic the systems running XI are I wonder if that's even possible.
They did it before in 1.x series, since it only cost me $20 for both XI and XIV subs at the same time due to the "discount" they gave for doing it. Even though XIV uses the Mog site, they both technically are tied together via the SE account system, so it's a lot easier than expected.

The issue isn't just that its a troony. The issue is it doesn't seem like particularly great voice work. Nobody fricking cared that Bart Simpson was voiced by a woman or Goku (though admittedly the latter is more unusual given how silly and high pitched he sounds by design, but that goes along with the whole original monkey king theme when he was a child as well and now is just nostalgia), as there was a rationale for this AND it didn't prevent criticism. The issue with the current VA is that the troony issue acts as a shield for criticism on the voice itself.
If you think the voice is too masculine, or the accent is wrong, or it sounds like a shitty funimation dub then well you're just a transphobe and its mean to point out any of this shit hurrdurr. So they don't need to listen to you, you're just teh chudarino after all. That is the bigger issue in that apparently no criticism is allowed because transphobia hurrdurr.
