FFXIV is like ten years old, it's way too far gone. It's been a decade of fat streamer morons pretending the raids are good even though they literally can't or won't do them without addons. Yoshi-P and the team genuinely believe raiding is the best content, it's not just Simon Says, it's really good!
The final raids are too fricking long. I've done them all since Eden and they're *okay* in terms of new stuff compared to the regular but I think they should really just have raid 1-4 be normal always and add a fifth Savage version which is like a mini ultimate that you can train for with personalized loot like in Baldesion and Eureka. No, don't make it drop weapons, make it drop a book every time, but you only need like 2 books per weapon. This way they can test you learned the mechanics of the regular raid, then expand on the only thing they actually care about which is the last fight's second phase.
It's really hit and miss. Raids/trials tend to be most fun and memorable when the mechanics are consistent and themed with what the boss is actually about, for example:

How do you into raiding if you have no friends and would like to piss off as few people as possible?
It's not worth it bro trust me, randoms are so fricking stupid and it's impossible to avoid some kinda drama.
It's all about mindset and setting up people expectations in order to not cause frustration.
If you join a clear group despite not knowing what's going on, people will remember that and be annoyed by you, but if you join a fresh prog group and let people know you're new to raiding they won't care but cause they're probably in the same boat. Just be honest and earnest with people, and if anyone kicks up a fuss then it's probably because they're a shit person who expects too much from you.
As to getting in to raiding, I'd defintely start with the latest extreme, check out a guide or just start a blind prog party when you have some free time and do it. I know it sounds dumb to be like "wanna get into raiding? just raid lol!" but it's unironically true. Before Endwalker I had never bothered with any of the hard content but I just decided to try out the extremes and now I'm hooked.
Prog through party finder for a tier or 2. If you don't end up in cringe blacklist google docs, you might end up getting a few people who ask if you want to join a static for the next tier. If not, you have a couple of logs to show that you're not a complete mouth breather which you can use to try and join other people's statics or go from temporary fill-in member to permanent member

Yes, both parties have to be using the mod and they have to exchange codes that link their games up. Someone won't see your mods unless you go out of your way to make it so, and the install process and general UX for the mod is fricking atrocious because the creator is a fricking cringelord turbo homosexual, so even just setting up the mod is like pulling nails out of your urethra. It's literally not worth the trouble and nothing you have to worry about.

I wanted the new crafter gear so I went and gathered all the shit to start making just the materials to make the gear and I'm fricking failing to make even the materials. Eureka needs some grind aye. You need what level 50 to finish the story. Also solve some riddles and move there and there. When I think about it Eureka was pretty interesting.
I quit Eureka because of how painful the grind is.
You don't have to grind at all. Spend like 30-40 min a week doing challenge log in Anemos and you'll reach max elemental level with minimal effort. Challenge log XP scales to your level.
Even doing the challenge log is a pain. But who knows, maybe I'll get wasted and do it with some friends.

Latency dictates the speed at which the client and server communicate, with higher latency meaning communication takes longer.
oGCDs have a built-in 0.75 second hard lock, preventing you from spamming them all in the space of a single GCD because that's not how fricking video games work.

Noclippy just allows you to double weave and fixes netcode issues. XIValexander is basically that on steroids and most people consider it cheating unless you're some 500 ping thirdie, most people using noclippy are in parts of America or Europe with terrible pathways/playing on another DC with 180ish ping. It unironically should be a standard fix the devs should make.

Maybe the game design of the game sucks, which causes the fight to suck. I don't think the World first of a game that doesn't officially have a world first matters too much.

I love ultimates a lot. The type of challenge is what makes them fun, not the rewards imo. But it's sad people love to cut corners like this to learn them.
As a casual mod user it really pisses me off when people draw attention to cheats by using them to win world first races.

The Switch version will probably be easy to emulate, at least. Though I dunno if Switch emulation has input latency issues that would affect rhythm games.
