Garleans don't have more or less aether than anyone else on the Source, they just can't manipulate it on their own. And that actually indicates something stopping them from interacting with dynamis because it's dynamis which is the catalyst for shaping aether.

Yoshi P admitted there was supposed to be another expansion focusing on Garlemald between ShB and EW but because of the hype and other reasons they skipped past it to get to EW sooner. I can see why they did it but in the long run it's going to be seen as a bad idea. Of course this all depends on what they do next, is this 7.0 and beyond story arc a sight to behold or a tangled mess of ideas.

I saw the posts from the old account posting style vs the new. I believe it, I said before on another thread that people used to do this all the time in smaller more niche games but they would always get caught out because the size of the game people knew each other almost by name and posting style instantly, it'd get called out for what is was instantly.
These freaks are just doing the same shit, it's all school ground, kid shit but these people are adults in their late 20s, 30s and 40s and acting like kids it's pathetic man. e-girl comes from e-girlta who ages throughout the book and was meant to refer to her age in most of the book (12-14). This is how it was used when it was coined in Japan. Fricking nobody in Japan is using a term like 'psuedo-e-girl'. Girls from 8-11 were called Alicecon after you know who, and 5-8 Sakuracon after a popular Japanese book character. This is all terminology probably from before you were born. The other two got sucked into e-girlcon over time outside of some old otaku who still make a distinction. It's pretty crazy how Preach has basically become a favorite FFXIV streamer and that fact puts all their "it's toxic!" crap to shame. Mike jumps in and out of the game constantly but he never has to deal with such things for some reason.
I think it's because he's an adult with a wife and kids and he knows how to handle any bubbling issues. I still remember one time MSQ addicts started to get uppity that he wanted to do side content that day, he just said calmly that this is what they were doing that day and they settled down.
He's also criticized aspects of the story or the game that he doesn't particularly like and hasn't been sent death threats and faced a mass exodus. Look at the streamers that do experience (or claim to) such things and they all are really similar... people that never grew up blaming everyone else.

Preach isn't an FFXIV streamer, he's mostly an MMO streamer who dips into non-MMOs here and there. XIV is just one of the big ones he plays.
People like the dude because he's fun and mostly positive, and avoids as much of the streamer drama as he possibly can as opposed to other MMO streamers. Which is odd considering he literally has a segment called "drama time", but he devotes that to people who volunteer MMO stories and changes names so nobody gets harassed (and it's mostly about funny drama and not actually serious stuff)

It's because he's not a dumbfrick who sees a few spergs being spergs and blames the entire community for it. Most of these streamers will take one or some crazy people in their chat and then conflate them with an entire community and declare the entire the entire community as being toxic.
It doesn't matter if 99% of them are being perfectly nice, normal people. All it takes is one person being bad and than that can be it. The entire community is now bad. However it's also more likely that it's all just to create drama. Streamers notice their viewcount is dipping with FFXIV after the MSQ and so, in order to stem their bleeding viewcount, decide to manufacture drama around themselves by cherrypicking a few bad eggs in their chat and then loudly declaring "THE FF COMMUNITY IS SO TOXIC", making clickbait videos about it.
Or they create videos about "NO CONTENT?" then farm negative opinions (even if they're completely polite, simply disagreeing with their takes) then use that to go "OMG THE FF COMMUNITY HARASSING ME BECAUSE I CRITICIZED THIE GAME, THIS COMMUNITY IS SO TOXIC" and BAM, more clickbait videos.
The problem is this backfires 100% of time on them because the FF community doesn't tolerate abuse from their streamers and will just drop them and never return, but every single time these dumbfrick streamers think they can get away with stirring up fake drama against the community to make up for a lack of streamable content post-MSQ only for it to drive off whatever is left of their FF community for good.
They never learn.

Preach had to deal with the WoW version of that when he did those Blizzard interviews.
I think Preach has avoided it from the XIV community as he played other MMOs is because there's been so many XIV streamers who temporarily stepped away who called out that behavior but erroneously blamed an entire community for it, that the normally loud ones are quiet on Preach because there's less and less streamers playing past MSW now.

She literally didnt even play the game. She would log in, sit in the same spot in Sharlayan with her simps standing behind her, while she stole other people's content for several hours (reacting), then finally maybe alt-tab back into the game, walk 5 steps, then end stream.
She's been done with the game for a very long time. She also viewbots heavily (check her sub numbers, only a few hundred subs, get's -20 subs a stream yet somehow has 2-3k viewers always.)
560 active subs. She will average around 20 subs a day. This is with a 3k average viewcount. That doesn't add up. There are tiny streamers that get the same amount if not more a day. You can tell a streamer is viewbotting when they have an extremely high view count but an extremely tiny sub number. If you're pulling those numbers you should be getting hundreds of subs day.
I like the idea of making a list of characters of nothing but giant women and giving them names that sound like they have giant futawieners.

He was the first antagonist since ULTIMA to mercilessly shoot down every single thing the protagonists tried. Nothing fricking worked against this guy. Technically he was even worse than Ultima, since at least Ultima was properly defeated, (it just needed Hydaelyn to yoink the primals out), but Zenos was straight up invincible. Then Ala Mhigo happened, WoL did it, he will achieve the impossible, he's finally surpassed Zenos in power, he can win! Except no, he fricking doesn't. He needed his three goons and at the end of it they had to basically meme Zenos inside of a primal because he was required to lose one way or another.

A better point of discussion is whether or not Venat or another ancient would have arrived at the idea of a sundering without someone from the future telling them to do it.
And the fact that the Endsinger birds traveled the universe and only found civilizations that had committed suicide - none of them took an alternate course that reset progress like Eitherys's sundering - it's extremely doubtful.

This is my biggest problem with the time travel plot. It took away from Venat as a character. She's no longer a rebel who had to take a great risk and make a difficult choice for what she believed was right. She was just following what she already knew both had to happen and which she knew absolutely without a shadow of a doubt would end positively.
To be fair she did say she was going to try and find her own way to avert the mess. You even see her begging the morons tempered by Zodiark to just man up, clearly tired and defeated from having tried who the frick knows how much, in the middle of the fricking disaster, fully aware she had failed already but still willing to plead one last time.
When she turned into Hydaelin, it really looked like she was "frick it, I tried".
Yeah, but her resorting to the sundering at the end of it all is less meaningful, in my opinion. She just defaulted to what she knew would work, rather than struggling to come to terms with having to do what she believes is right even against all their wishes. That would be far more heroic, and that's what we saw out of her in Shadowbringers.

But the ancients in Amaurot are explicitly just recollections and memories and only one of them is even partially "sentient" because of that person's special meaning. Okay why didn't they just transfer their fricking souls into their new robot bodies? Why would they just turn their minds to data when they can (and this has already happened in this game) transfer the soul into their new bodies? They literally gave up their souls in the process.
Like I know the idea of turning one's mind to data to become a literal machine isn't an original sci-fi idea, but in a setting where souls exist it doesn't really make sense. Especially given what we know about the soul in the context of FFXIV.
My theory is that not all stars produce souls. We've already seen with beings like Alpha or any Ancient creation that hasn't been given a soul by the star yet that you don't need a soul to be sentient.
We also know aetheric densisty varies from planet to planet. Etheirys had an unusually high aetheric densisty which was why the ancienst were so big and powerful and why Meteion couldn't attack it initially and required some still-unknown third party force from within (probably Sabik) to eat away at the aetherial currents to weaken it.
My theory is that some worlds are so weak in aether that their inhabitants literally don't have souls because there is not enough aether to produce souls. The Omicrons world was obviously lacking in magic since they resorted to technology instead of magic to defend themselves, or they were somehow just magically inept. Their world probably just didn't have much aether and so none of them had souls to begin with, hence why they converted their minds to data rather than transfered their souls to their mechnical bodies. I'm going to assume the Karellians world was also low-level aether hence why it was more like modern day Earth and they all fought with tanks and machine guns.
I'd guess because not every civilization followed the same line of thinking or had the same information, that was just the path they chose.
All of their models, including most of the enemies around them, are all from FFXI so you could come up with a real deep meaning if you wanted to put a tinfoil hat on.
Are there any jobs for you that feel wrong not to wear properly themed or artifact armor on?
For me it's GNB, RDM and sorta DRG
GNB weapons look weird without the appropriate armor and RDM is RDM, you need the cavalier getup
DRG can get away with different outfits but nothing beats the wyrm aesthetic
Don't know if it's the same, but I refuse to wear heavy-looking armor or anything that seems "impractical" for MNK because doing martial arts in armor or confusing clothing irl would be a mess.

It shouldn't because GnB weapons are not build to look defense oriented so they look silly with full plate. With coats it leans into the more fantastical element of a coat tank. This is compounded by their weapon out stance where they rest it behind their back
Why would you need a "defense oriented" weapon to wear some plate? If anything the PLD with a shield should be wearing the lighter clothing option of the tanks, only idiots need plate and another plate.
Because it complements it. PLD can definitely also do coat tanking. In fact WAR is the only one that struggles with it but with a lighter looking weapon it can be done. The issue with GNB is that down to their animations being combo heavy to thancred's fight sequence in the shb opening; GNB being a tank is held up as rule of cool and coat tank looks help to work with that instead of against it

It's less 'everything is made of aether' and more 'everything has aether', think of it more as thermodynamic activity of atoms. So it'd be more like if a Nier-universe being went to Etheirys, their thermoidynamic activity would basically become aether.

I read a little into that, something about they stole some accounts and used them to post on the forums trying to make it appear there was more support for whatever their idea of what they wanted was. I believe it, I said before on another thread that people used to do this all the time in smaller more niche games but they would always get caught out because the size of the game people knew each other almost by name and posting style instantly, it'd get called out for what is was instantly.

It's pretty crazy how Preach has basically become a favorite FFXIV streamer and that fact puts all their "it's toxic!" crap to shame. Mike jumps in and out of the game constantly but he never has to deal with such things for some reason.
I think it's because he's an adult with a wife and kids and he knows how to handle any bubbling issues. I still remember one time MSQ addicts started to get uppity that he wanted to do side content that day, he just said calmly that this is what they were doing that day and they settled down.
He's also criticized aspects of the story or the game that he doesn't particularly like and hasn't been sent death threats and faced a mass exodus. Look at the streamers that do experience (or claim to) such things and they all are really similar... people that never grew up blaming everyone else.

It's because he's not a dumbfrick who sees a few spergs being spergs and blames the entire community for it. Most of these streamers will take one or some crazy people in their chat and then conflate them with an entire community and declare the entire the entire community as being toxic.
It doesn't matter if 99% of them are being perfectly nice, normal people. All it takes is one person being bad and than that can be it. The entire community is now bad. However it's also more likely that it's all just to create drama. Streamers notice their viewcount is dipping with FFXIV after the MSQ and so, in order to stem their bleeding viewcount, decide to manufacture drama around themselves by cherrypicking a few bad eggs in their chat and then loudly declaring "THE FF COMMUNITY IS SO TOXIC", making clickbait videos about it.
Or they create videos about "NO CONTENT?" then farm negative opinions (even if they're completely polite, simply disagreeing with their takes) then use that to go "OMG THE FF COMMUNITY HARASSING ME BECAUSE I CRITICIZED THIE GAME, THIS COMMUNITY IS SO TOXIC" and BAM, more clickbait videos.
The problem is this backfires 100% of time on them because the FF community doesn't tolerate abuse from their streamers and will just drop them and never return, but every single time these dumbfrick streamers think they can get away with stirring up fake drama against the community to make up for a lack of streamable content post-MSQ only for it to drive off whatever is left of their FF community for good.
They never learn.

I think Preach has avoided it from the XIV community as he played other MMOs is because there's been so many XIV streamers who temporarily stepped away who called out that behavior but erroneously blamed an entire community for it, that the normally loud ones are quiet on Preach because there's less and less streamers playing past MSW now.

He was the first antagonist since ULTIMA to mercilessly shoot down every single thing the protagonists tried. Nothing fricking worked against this guy. Technically he was even worse than Ultima, since at least Ultima was properly defeated, (it just needed Hydaelyn to yoink the primals out), but Zenos was straight up invincible. Then Ala Mhigo happened, WoL did it, he will achieve the impossible, he's finally surpassed Zenos in power, he can win! Except no, he fricking doesn't. This is my biggest problem with the time travel plot. It took away from Venat as a character. She's no longer a rebel who had to take a great risk and make a difficult choice for what she believed was right. She was just following what she already knew both had to happen and which she knew absolutely without a shadow of a doubt would end positively.
To be fair she did say she was going to try and find her own way to avert the mess. You even see her begging the morons tempered by Zodiark to just man up, clearly tired and defeated from having tried who the frick knows how much, in the middle of the fricking disaster, fully aware she had failed already but still willing to plead one last time.
When she turned into Hydaelin, it really looked like she was "frick it, I tried".
Yeah, but her resorting to the sundering at the end of it all is less meaningful, in my opinion. She just defaulted to what she knew would work, rather than struggling to come to terms with having to do what she believes is right even against all their wishes. That would be far more heroic, and that's what we saw out of her in Shadowbringers.

Okay why didn't they just transfer their fricking souls into their new robot bodies? Why would they just turn their minds to data when they can (and this has already happened in this game) transfer the soul into their new bodies? They literally gave up their souls in the process.
Like I know the idea of turning one's mind to data to become a literal machine isn't an original sci-fi idea, but in a setting where souls exist it doesn't really make sense. Especially given what we know about the soul in the context of FFXIV.
My theory is that not all stars produce souls. We've already seen with beings like Alpha or any Ancient creation that hasn't been given a soul by the star yet that you don't need a soul to be sentient.
We also know aetheric densisty varies from planet to planet. Etheirys had an unusually high aetheric densisty which was why the ancienst were so big and powerful and why Meteion couldn't attack it initially and required some still-unknown third party force from within (probably Sabik) to eat away at the aetherial currents to weaken it.
My theory is that some worlds are so weak in aether that their inhabitants literally don't have souls because there is not enough aether to produce souls. The Omicrons world was obviously lacking in magic since they resorted to technology instead of magic to defend themselves, or they were somehow just magically inept. Their world probably just didn't have much aether and so none of them had souls to begin with, hence why they converted their minds to data rather than transfered their souls to their mechnical bodies. I'm going to assume the Karellians world was also low-level aether hence why it was more like modern day Earth and they all fought with tanks and machine guns.
I'd guess because not every civilization followed the same line of thinking or had the same information, that was just the path they chose.
All of their models, including most of the enemies around them, are all from FFXI so you could come up with a real deep meaning if you wanted to put a tinfoil hat on.

Don't know if it's the same, but I refuse to wear heavy-looking armor or anything that seems "impractical" for MNK because doing martial arts in armor or confusing clothing irl would be a mess.
Maybe not themed, but definitely weight appropriate. GNB should always be a coat tank, all other tanks have free reign. RDM should never be in full caster robes. MNK shouldn't wear anything heavy. BLU should always be blue and have some sort of face cover.

Because it complements it. PLD can definitely also do coat tanking. In fact WAR is the only one that struggles with it but with a lighter looking weapon it can be done. The issue with GNB is that down to their animations being combo heavy to thancred's fight sequence in the shb opening; GNB being a tank is held up as rule of cool and coat tank looks help to work with that instead of against it
