I agree with everything but this point in particular is really important: as you said, it's so cheap, quick and easy to make that a failure is nowhere as dangerous and impactful as it is with a bigger AAA game with its bloated budget, hundreds of devs and half a decade long development time etc. For a bigger studio, mobile/gachashit is not a risky venture at all and the rewards are potentially huge.

But if you are american and play on NA you might have to deal with queue issues for 1-2 months yes. Free2Play players get pushed behind in the queue so paid players can get in of course.
But i don't think DT is gonna be as big of a mess as EW was simply for the fact that DT doesn't have the covid thing.
If you're a free trial player don't even bother trying to play/log in during expansion week, you're not getting in, since trial players are lowest priority and paid players get to cut in front of you, you will forever be at the back of an endlessly growing line. Go play something else.

Face shapes are a selection of 4 options, so if they change during the graphical update there's no way of getting the original shape back as all the other face options will look even more different.
In reality there is very little reason to get upset, the differences are so minor you can't notice them without a side-by-side comparison, within a few weeks of the launch nobody will be able to tell the difference.
I don't know who this even affects to be honest.

Except the benchmark barley uses any CPU. The graphic update isn't that much more intensive vs old graphics, and it ficks with ultrawide where it places black bars on the sides, but still renders the game behind them.

Holy is a mass-stun with no deterioration on damage past the first target, wtf? You're a god of dungeons for a reason as WHM
it does a lot less damage compared to sch and sge aoes
it has caster tax due to having the same cast time as its recast time, meaning even lower dps
you can't weave any of your healing ogcds so you have to clip to bene or whatever assuming you don't have enough lilies complete a blood lily inside this pull (clipping holy is still higher dps than using aero), lowering your dps even more
you can't easily evade aoes once stun immunity kicks in and it's not instant cast, so eating aoes gets you interrupted and surecast also clips, lowering your dps even more
you can't use it while the tank is pulling so you're forced to do moronic shit like benison to place mobs on your enemy list and then having to spam dia on them because you have no better damaging options, leading to even lower dps
you're either forced to hold it off for a gcd or two so that the tank can properly gather the mobs, lowering your dps, or you use it as soon as you reach the pulling spot, causing the mobs to be stunned while spread out and making targeted 5y aoes miss many of them and lowering the party's dps even further

Neither of those are ever happening. At the absolute best you'll get a button that only unlocks after you've been standing in your leylines for x amount of time.
I would be OK with that, if it's an incredibly powerful spell. Maybe something like Death? Although Despair sort of already does that.

Make it so ley lines decreases cooldowns proportionally to the amount of time spent in the ley lines and that problem will be solved. The game is more fun when there are synergies between jobs, rather than every job being isolated and selfish.

Cover isn't anywhere near as strong as it once was, but its still really useful. More importantly, its also PLD's most fun button. Did you know that if you cover a knockback you'll get hit with 2 knockbacks at once? Depending on how strong it is you can get flung way out into the skybox. You can also kill your friends by covering them so they don't get important debuffs that let them survive upcoming mechanics.
So the lv91-100 really are just "maybe a new action but generally you cap the power output and replace pre-existing moves" stuff?

I think what will happen is that Barrage will get a followup combo oGCD like Ikishoten, and Radiant Finale will be replaced by an upgraded version that also gives DH, while Battle Voice (and maybe Raging Strikes as well) will just get pruned.

None of these are that big of a deal on their own but they all come together to show that this game has dev time and resources pissed away for little return imo. You know that effort you're talking about is re-re-releasing old content and packaging it as something new? It's why Blizzard aren't releasing full content expansions anymore because it took too much effort so they've broken everything down to make it appear you're getting more but on the whole you're getting far less. They're very clever at how they market the same content they've previously released and have it appear to be new though I'll give them that.

I really don't see it being impossible at all.
EW had a ton of incoming damage, but the problem is that mit checks boil down to a simple pass/fail state where it doesn't matter what you do before and after as long as every mit needed for the big hit was there.
I'd prefer something like living liquid where the entire party is getting shredded for 2 minutes but the big hits aren't spectacularly hard hitting.

It's funny that depending on the lighting the face looks different. I think the key thing being that lips/eyeliner gets darker in the shadows now. I personally like the difference in look.
ARR's Midlander Male Face 4 got weird during some emotes, especially as they decided to make your WoL more expressive in cutscenes. The way it contorts now is much more pleasing.

My character design is great
However, after years of playing the game, I finally used my ARR fanta, and I used it so that my limbals would be the same color as my eyes. I used my ARR fanta to change my eye color slightly lighter, and my limbal color also slightly lighter, because the end result is that the eye color seamlessly blends into the limbal color, which makes my character's eyes look like they have a bit of a "highlight" without having an obvious limbal. I used my ARR fanta specifically for this one purpose and for nothing else
The 7.0 benchmark changes both the color of my eyes and the color of the limbal, so that the limbal is an ugly orange color while the eye is a darker yellow than it is in 6.58. My character, for the most part, does look better, but my eyes are completely and exactly ruined. The only reason I used my ARR fanta has been completely and totally undone by the graphics update
(skin color, face, hair, etc have all been changed are are not what my character look like - this was done because the focus is on the eyes color)

Not the point. First off, I haven't been able to find an eye color in the same "vicinity" as this that seamlessly blends into a matching limbal color. I haven't even been able to find one that does this in all lighting. It seems that with the 7.0 update, their purpose has been to increase the prominence of the limbals, meaning for one to be able to blend seamlessly into the eye color is antithetical to the new graphics update. I've given up trying. I will have to use Anamnesis when 7.0 goes live in order to test the eye colors out in game, in real time, in order to attempt to find one that matches how my eyes look in 6.58. I am not hopeful that there is a solution
Second, I shouldn't need to use a fanta to undo a change that I so exactly already fixed. The only thing I changed with my ARR fanta was my eye and limbal color. That's the only thing I changed. I shouldn't need to use my 2nd free fanta to fix it back. They should just be the same color that they already are. Why make the limbals darker in the first place? Why? What's the point? Why fundamentally change the color of the limbals at all?

If you're a free trial player don't even bother trying to play/log in during expansion week, you're not getting in, since trial players are lowest priority and paid players get to cut in front of you, you will forever be at the back of an endlessly growing line. Go play something else.

THE FANTASIA WON'T FIX THE LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPS
Face shapes are a selection of 4 options, so if they change during the graphical update there's no way of getting the original shape back as all the other face options will look even more different.
In reality there is very little reason to get upset, the differences are so minor you can't notice them without a side-by-side comparison, within a few weeks of the launch nobody will be able to tell the difference.
all I see different is more pronounced colors, less jaggy edges and the eye makeup stuffs deeper colored too

The real game is constantly sending and receiving network packets along with processing random I/O from players.
Obviously a offline benchmark with NPCs is a different ballgame.

Except the benchmark barley uses any CPU. The graphic update isn't that much more intensive vs old graphics, and it ficks with ultrawide where it places black bars on the sides, but still renders the game behind them.

it does a lot less damage compared to sch and sge aoes
it has caster tax due to having the same cast time as its recast time, meaning even lower dps
you can't weave any of your healing ogcds so you have to clip to bene or whatever assuming you don't have enough lilies complete a blood lily inside this pull (clipping holy is still higher dps than using aero), lowering your dps even more
you can't easily evade aoes once stun immunity kicks in and it's not instant cast, so eating aoes gets you interrupted and surecast also clips, lowering your dps even more
you can't use it while the tank is pulling so you're forced to do moronic shit like benison to place mobs on your enemy list and then having to spam dia on them because you have no better damaging options, leading to even lower dps
you're either forced to hold it off for a gcd or two so that the tank can properly gather the mobs, lowering your dps, or you use it as soon as you reach the pulling spot, causing the mobs to be stunned while spread out and making targeted 5y aoes miss many of them and lowering the party's dps even further

Neither of those are ever happening. At the absolute best you'll get a button that only unlocks after you've been standing in your leylines for x amount of time.

Is cover something you need in higher difficulties? I don't remember ever pressing that button.
Cover isn't anywhere near as strong as it once was, but its still really useful. More importantly, its also PLD's most fun button. Did you know that if you cover a knockback you'll get hit with 2 knockbacks at once? Depending on how strong it is you can get flung way out into the skybox. You can also kill your friends by covering them so they don't get important debuffs that let them survive upcoming mechanics.
My friends don't need help dying to mechanics.
Unless you do Deep Dungeons, you can get rid of shield bash.
I do Eureka solo a lot use shield bash for emergency stuns to heal or escape.

I think what will happen is that Barrage will get a followup combo oGCD like Ikishoten, and Radiant Finale will be replaced by an upgraded version that also gives DH, while Battle Voice (and maybe Raging Strikes as well) will just get pruned.

EW had a ton of incoming damage, but the problem is that mit checks boil down to a simple pass/fail state where it doesn't matter what you do before and after as long as every mit needed for the big hit was there.
I'd prefer something like living liquid where the entire party is getting shredded for 2 minutes but the big hits aren't spectacularly hard hitting.
