a zipper is dumb and finicky to make by hand but not impossible at all, it's a very slim and tightly woven drawstring combined with a buckle at its core. it would not be as TIGHTLY WOVEN as modern zippers are but a zipper isn't impossible

Optimal play is 1.93 or 1.94, which already requires SkS melds. I have a max SkS samurai set with almost every possible SkS meld and it only gets MNK to 1.88. There's no way to get close to 1.6 at the moment.

The racial gear not being updated in polygon count when they showed off all the new faces and lighting on dark-skin and whatnot has me extremely anxious. I was looking forward to a Gae Bolg spruce-up so I could use it again without the obnoxious PS3 triangular point, that weapon's visual problems are not its textures.
This. Anyone who thinks it's not enough was expecting the game to look totally different. It's a really good update to what we have. Lighting, texture resolution, ambient occlusion, materials/shaders and PBR rendering, topology (wherever necessary, like faces), subsurface scattering, weather and environmental effects.
The only thing that's missing is antialiasing. God, that needed an update half a decade ago.
(The dual dye channel kind of falls into the aesthetic overhaul category in a sense, because it will also allow for better mixing of stuff now that you have an extra dye slot.)

I had forgotten about the primal summoning. I was more referring to things like the expansion of cross class skills eventually leading to jobs like Blue Mage.
It seems like they originally wanted to expand upon combat depth and even possibly the removal of the combat delay, but they eventually realized the majority of their user base played the game casually.
Some of the best MMOs find a good balance for this by having many avenues of success for different playstyles, while FFXIV railroads you into the jrpg storymode.
This forces the game to have simplified combat that has a low skill ceiling

There aren't any buff particles that suggest it's entering a "spender stance" when you switch to twinblades. Honestly, I ultimately don't even think 6.x was any more mediocre to me than 5.4 and 5.5. There were some parts that were, though. 6.3 and 6.4 felt too fillery, too much like stuffing. I think Stormblood still had the best overall patch MSQ, followed by Heavensward. With Shadowbringers, I only really cared about 5.2 and 5.3.

I was in a Borderlands 2 thread a day or two ago and somebody was trying to moan about how Borderlands 1's aesthetic of samey rocks and garbage piles was vastly superior to later games' more varied environments, because straying away from rocks and garbage piles loses the Mad Max vibe. Borderlands 1 literally looks the same in all of its environments and the game is around 20% complete thanks to the artstyle shift late in development.
I like shadowbringer more but people hating stormblood for its "bad story" dont understand politics and history and want everything wrapped up with the good guys winning instead of difficult it is to actually get a failed state up and running again.

At this point, they need to cull skills that are taking up space. Living shadow is just a button you press every 2 minutes and forget about, Shadowbringer is basically flood of shadow that takes up another hotbar slot, delirium is such a boring skill compared to inner release, and oblation is way too ineffectual and narrow in use to be worth a spot.

I think they were but they also didn't hit very hard, wouldn't even call them tankbusters.

Honestly I never noticed, I play PLD so I guess my passive healing kept my health steady afterwards
Personally, I think PLD is in the best spot balance-wise. WAR and DRK are way too strong in their respective fields, it makes playing them outside of those fields absolutely horrid.
PLD is pretty strong in its field too, my healers kept praising me for using all my team mitigation and doing some spot healing during limit cut on 12
I think what anon means is that WAR is too overspecialized in dungeons and DRK too overspecialized in raids, and in turn they tend to be worse in the other, while PLD is solid in both.

It's strong, yeah, but not 'WAR healing itself through a wall-to-wall pull' or 'DRK taking a dual buster solo in current tier' strong.
PLD brings one thing and it does it pretty well: comfort
You get 2 party mits instead of 1, the best co-tank mit and Clemency is a good panic button.
The only unfortunate part is Hallowed being the worst invuln in the game, and if you run PLD+WAR for Holmgang you run into the issue of not having a 90s tank percentage mit for multi hits.
I also enjoy that they almost always have access to consistent regen through sheltron or spirit/confetti combo. It feels like they can be stable without overhealing a lot more if they're taking autos.
To be fair DRK can solo the shared buster with Dark Mind in that fight. Lets you just living dead HH.
