Reminder that all Modbeasts will be destroyed with the coming graphics update
The extra info on the graphics update has confirmed several things. First and most important is subsurface scattering.
Not a single current mod has a SSS map, that means you will have to rely on whoever makes your favorite mod to actually care about their old shit they already drained you of money for to add extra material layers they didn't originally plan for, or abandon it entirely and just make new mods from here on out. The bar has been raised for quality mods and rips from other games will look like shit if they also don't come with it.
Every single tattoo, freckle, scar, and whatever dumb shit you slapped on your creatura will need to be redone.
If you want an example of how it looks with and without, PSO2 currently lets you use old style bodies with their new shaders alongside new bodies. The difference is hilariously bad.
Second: Even after that gets fixed, you're going to have to deal with even worse seams, new shaders will only enhance the differences between mismatched textures.
Third: Cubemaps have all been updated, enjoy all your metallics being fricked on old mods.
Fourth: Normalmaps have been further enhanced, this could potentially mean they're fully utilizing the blue/alpha channels for detail rather than hiding extra data in there. If this is true, literally every mod prior will break horribly. Random garbage detail splattered across the item as its looking for colorset information in the wrong place (assuming it just doesn't hard crash).
Fifth: Transparencies have gotten an overhaul, if you use sheer items you're likely fricked too.
Better hope Bizu doesn't try to divide the community yet again when we're forced to move to "Gen4" bodies.
Why? No longer will pinklala be force fed muffins until she is plump and juicy.. well at least until the modders figure out how to work with the new stuff, so give it take a month tops

My thought process for shaman was that the VA for Michelangelo is named shamon and orange is the color of the expansion.
It wont be Shaman because Shaman is already in the game as a healer trust npc when you do Bardam's Mettle so Shaman is basically a Mongolian conjurer healer in lore. That being said I think an elemental shaman type job archetype makes the most sense for caster dps but it just wont be called shaman
They probably wouldn't do that when they've got a new limited one coming. If they did, no one would care about the new limited and just constantly beg for it to get its turn being unlimited.
The only thing that really makes me think this might happen is that BLU content generally releases very late in the expansion and they are also saying the new limited job is a late expansion release. Surely they wouldn't release both pieces of content at the same time or in quick succession, maybe it means BLU isn't going to be limited. However they also pointed out BLU content is coming so oh well.
It also does let them cut a LOT of corners when making the next job, yeah you have to setup the combos/gimmicks and whatnot but you already have everything else. Personally I think it needs to be a real job, they clearly aren't going to make blu specific content aside from a single carnival fight, they aren't giving the job real rewards anymore, and it gets one update to run in and steamroll old content every 2.5 years.
I hope all of the content we are getting this expansion is thanks to an increase in budget and staff, but that would require SE to make a smart decision so it's probably going to be plagued by cut corners as heavily as EW
They only recently updated Blue Mage to go up to 80. Why would they then remove all that a few months later with reworking the class from the ground up.
Also, they've removed minor things before, but never entire systems. Unless you're thinking Blue Mage will have two different forms, limited and unlimited.

I think you misunderstand the idea of making Blue Mage unlimited.
The idea is to make it just a normal class with design similar to all others.
The class quests could involve you going to find specific monsters to learn their abilities, but you wouldn't need to go out of your way to gather them otherwise.
Every level 90 Blue Mage unlimited would be the exact same, while limited blue mage would be the same as it is now.

XIV's abilities generally lack weight which makes combat feel pretty unsatisfying. There are exceptions like Fell Cleave but most of the time it feels like your whacking them with a pool noodle.

I've said it before but the devs just don't seem to care about sound effects. They care about animations and music but that's it. You can tell when every fricking ability in this game has these crazy over the top animations that end up sounding like a quiet fart. I am convinced Yoshi and co play the game with sound effects off.
Unironically I tried just turning sound off and I enjoyed the combat better. That's how shit and unsatisfying sound design in this game is.
The attack in that webm isn't even the worst one in that showcase. Look at the one at :27. It just looks like flailing that doesn't even attempt to connect to anything.

I've been playing shittons of singleplayer games since I finished Endwalker in Dec 2021. Elden Ring, The entire DMC series, DOOM and DOOM Eternal, Cyberpunk, Armored Core 6, just to name a few. I think I've played nearly 100 games since 6.0.
Now I just have zero fricking tolerance for XIV's gameplay. The gameplay of this game is objectively inferior to almost literally anything else and it doesn't evne have the one thing most MMO's have to make it interesting which is build customization. The only way you can make tab targetting enjoyable is if you have builds and RPG elements and make it actually challenging and tactful which this game entirely lacks now.
Yoshi has turned this game into an extremely mediocre wanna-be-action game with tab-targetting, totally devoid of any shred of RPG aspects. Much like XVI.
Not to mention the PvP in this game, even post 6.2 update revamped it and added CC, is just fricking dogshit compared to even other MMO PVP, let alone actual PvP games. Or how cheaters have completely destroyed any integrity to the pvp scene here and SE doesn't give a frick. Why would I play this game for literally anything when I can get a better experience for everything it offers elsewhere? There is nothing left in this game that other games don't do better. The only thing this game had was it's story and now that's gone to shit too.
The only people who still like this game have never played a video game in their entire lives that wasn't FFXIV.

They won't even fricking put in hold input charge melee attacks so we can do basic b***h MB greatsword attacks, they won't even be lazy and put the cast bar on some melees like iaijutsu.
It's so fricking tiresome. Viper is just going to build and spend on the same cooldown that everyone else uses so hey it's just fricking Reaper again.

The extra info on the graphics update has confirmed several things. First and most important is subsurface scattering.
Not a single current mod has a SSS map, that means you will have to rely on whoever makes your favorite mod to actually care about their old shit they already drained you of money for to add extra material layers they didn't originally plan for, or abandon it entirely and just make new mods from here on out. The bar has been raised for quality mods and rips from other games will look like shit if they also don't come with it.
Every single tattoo, freckle, scar, and whatever dumb shit you slapped on your creatura will need to be redone.
If you want an example of how it looks with and without, PSO2 currently lets you use old style bodies with their new shaders alongside new bodies. The difference is hilariously bad.
Second: Even after that gets fixed, you're going to have to deal with even worse seams, new shaders will only enhance the differences between mismatched textures.
Third: Cubemaps have all been updated, enjoy all your metallics being fricked on old mods.
Fourth: Normalmaps have been further enhanced, this could potentially mean they're fully utilizing the blue/alpha channels for detail rather than hiding extra data in there. If this is true, literally every mod prior will break horribly. Random garbage detail splattered across the item as its looking for colorset information in the wrong place (assuming it just doesn't hard crash).
Fifth: Transparencies have gotten an overhaul, if you use sheer items you're likely fricked too.
Better hope Bizu doesn't try to divide the community yet again when we're forced to move to "Gen4" bodies.
All I want for them is to fix feet so they actually have proper modelled toes and aren't just disgusting blobs, and allow us to be barefoot.

My thought process for shaman was that the VA for Michelangelo is named shamon and orange is the color of the expansion.
It wont be Shaman because Shaman is already in the game as a healer trust npc when you do Bardam's Mettle so Shaman is basically a Mongolian conjurer healer in lore. That being said I think an elemental shaman type job archetype makes the most sense for caster dps but it just wont be called shaman
RDM is functionally a shaman, using all 4 elements.
They probably wouldn't do that when they've got a new limited one coming. If they did, no one would care about the new limited and just constantly beg for it to get its turn being unlimited.
If they see a limited job get graduated then it would soften the blow because they'll get it unlimited in 8 years.
The only thing that really makes me think this might happen is that BLU content generally releases very late in the expansion and they are also saying the new limited job is a late expansion release. Surely they wouldn't release both pieces of content at the same time or in quick succession, maybe it means BLU isn't going to be limited. However they also pointed out BLU content is coming so oh well.
There's also no way this dev team is going to update two limited jobs at the same time when they've barely been managing the one.
It also does let them cut a LOT of corners when making the next job, yeah you have to setup the combos/gimmicks and whatnot but you already have everything else. Personally I think it needs to be a real job, they clearly aren't going to make blu specific content aside from a single carnival fight, they aren't giving the job real rewards anymore, and it gets one update to run in and steamroll old content every 2.5 years.
Not worth it really.
I hope all of the content we are getting this expansion is thanks to an increase in budget and staff, but that would require SE to make a smart decision so it's probably going to be plagued by cut corners as heavily as EW
They only recently updated Blue Mage to go up to 80. Why would they then remove all that a few months later with reworking the class from the ground up.
Also, they've removed minor things before, but never entire systems. Unless you're thinking Blue Mage will have two different forms, limited and unlimited.

I think you misunderstand the idea of making Blue Mage unlimited.
The idea is to make it just a normal class with design similar to all others.
The class quests could involve you going to find specific monsters to learn their abilities, but you wouldn't need to go out of your way to gather them otherwise.
Every level 90 Blue Mage unlimited would be the exact same, while limited blue mage would be the same as it is now.
What would be the point of it then, it's just another caster.

This game lacks visceral, gorey sound effects that you'd expect from a melee class. WoW does this better.
XIV's abilities generally lack weight which makes combat feel pretty unsatisfying. There are exceptions like Fell Cleave but most of the time it feels like your whacking them with a pool noodle.

I've said it before but the devs just don't seem to care about sound effects. They care about animations and music but that's it. You can tell when every fricking ability in this game has these crazy over the top animations that end up sounding like a quiet fart. I am convinced Yoshi and co play the game with sound effects off.
Unironically I tried just turning sound off and I enjoyed the combat better. That's how shit and unsatisfying sound design in this game is.
It's a shame because good sound design goes a long way. Armored Core 6 for example does a good job at making shit sound like it hits hard.

I've been playing shittons of singleplayer games since I finished Endwalker in Dec 2021. Elden Ring, The entire DMC series, DOOM and DOOM Eternal, Cyberpunk, Armored Core 6, just to name a few. I think I've played nearly 100 games since 6.0.
Now I just have zero fricking tolerance for XIV's gameplay. The gameplay of this game is objectively inferior to almost literally anything else and it doesn't evne have the one thing most MMO's have to make it interesting which is build customization. The only way you can make tab targetting enjoyable is if you have builds and RPG elements and make it actually challenging and tactful which this game entirely lacks now.
Yoshi has turned this game into an extremely mediocre wanna-be-action game with tab-targetting, totally devoid of any shred of RPG aspects. Much like XVI.
Not to mention the PvP in this game, even post 6.2 update revamped it and added CC, is just fricking dogshit compared to even other MMO PVP, let alone actual PvP games. Or how cheaters have completely destroyed any integrity to the pvp scene here and SE doesn't give a frick. Why would I play this game for literally anything when I can get a better experience for everything it offers elsewhere? There is nothing left in this game that other games don't do better. The only thing this game had was it's story and now that's gone to shit too.
The only people who still like this game have never played a video game in their entire lives that wasn't FFXIV.

XI trusts are also all unique, collectible, and do bespoke things with their own priority systems
XIV trusts are just fake DPS machines that know how to dodge (since that's all the game can support now anyways)
Essentially XI trusts are a mechanic usable alone or in a party anywhere in game while XIV trusts are forced to be dungeon easy mode only and never anything more
