No one likes speed-running a dungeon and skipping mobs, people want boss fights that aren't just one gimmick. People run dungeons for the story, if they want something else there is Deep Dungeons and Variant/Criterion.

Still better than people trying to speed-run easy content and playing this stealth mini-game of avoiding mobs. If the way you want to ply the game is by going to end of the dungeons as fast as you can, while you try and fight as little as possible, a corridor is fine.
God, I hate this discussion, not because I don't also wish for more variety with dungeon paths and alternate builds for jobs, but because I know WHY they will never do it and it's perfectly understandable: Players will always find the most optimal path and torch the rest, making months and months of development time literally worthless.

WAR is king of dungeons, only OK in raids now
the pld struggle was because the raid designers had a lopsided incoming damage type balance. it would have been fine if they had communicated with the job designers to ensure that all tanks had different things that they excelled at. this is a problem of very poor interdeparment communication, which is a problem with yoshida’s managerial ability. it has nothing to do with any inherent flaw with the idea
The differentiating damage type specialties hamstrings what I'm actually going to be able to do with boss designs (what if I have a mage boss? I now have to give it physical attacks specifically to cope with Paladin. what if I have a warrior boss? I now have to give it magical attacks specifically so Dark Knight isn't left out) so that jobs aren't benched for an entire raid tier, or as was the case for half of Heavensward, benched for an entire expansion
If they had kept on with the previous philosophy re: job defense what we'd have ended up with was Dragoon and Paladin both being defensively horrible for the entirety of Heavensward and staring down the barrel of Deltascape which was still extremely magic-focused with Alte Roite, Halicarnassus, Catastrophe and Exdeath, and Warrior was STILL going to be the #1 tank because it can cope with both damage typings just fine

Yeah I picked up a g600 a few months ago and it constantly glitched out and stopped working on me, to the point that I just went back to controller. It's a neat concept being able to hit your entire hotbar with just your thumb, but it's not worth the hassle of your mouse dying on you mid-raid.

I mean if you just do your rotations all the fricking buffs pretty much line up now, you don't have to really pay attention because there is no variation on either what the players do or what the enemies do
At most you might miss a GCD from not being optimal, which is a second or two longer on the fight
NoClippy and XIVAlexander spoof your latency to worm around client-side GCD lag, those aren't even remotely on par with latency improvements (but XIVAlexander is still close enough to cheats to trip Square Enix sensors if you frick with its settings too hard, it gives you express warning for this)

Learn the ARR dark matter cluster farm routes and quick synthesize stacks of magitek repair materials to sell on the marketboard. There's also a few materials required in bulk for popular housing items e.g. lignum vitae lumber (lv 78 BTN), or limestone (lv 20 MIN). You also want to get your BTN to the nodes just northwest of the yanxia house of the fierce aetheryte every day to farm a gazelleskin treasure map because achievement autists pay up to 40k for those on my server and it only takes 1 minute to gather.

I've been trying to get into WoW as a branc new player but it just feels so overwhelming and disjointed. Everything is already unlocked and there's no rhyme or reason ot direction to any of if.
Unfortunately, Current Thing™ is the only part of WoW that ever really matters. Timewalking tries to fix that to some extent, but you don't really get to fully experience the entire game as a new player.
It's especially overwhelming jumping in during the end-of-expansion period where everyone is already knows what they're doing and you feel sort of left behind. Might be worth trying to jump in when War Within drops so you're almost on a level field with everyone else for a bit.
I had the same experience coming to WoW for the first time as well last year, despite 10+ years experience raiding in other MMOs. I felt like i had to be at 100% of my attention and focus for the first 2 months just to keep pace with what their veterans considered a middling difficulty of progression. And it wasn't specifically just the class rotation and gameplay, it was the extreme modding that was 'required' to do high-end content, the open-world meta player power progression tactics, as well as dealing with blizzard recycling content for their hard modes which heavily disadvantaged newcomers. The equivalent preparations that took me about 1-2 weeks for my first ever savage tier in ff14, took me about 4-6 weeks, while still demanding more of my time each day, to begin pushing in WoW. I would have been completely overwhelmed if i had only ever played ff14 even as a pentalegend. I'm certain that retail will only ever have the same bunch of long-term veterans for its playerbase, because the barrier to entry for M+/heroic raiding is literally too high, and it feels like dogshit 'overcoming' difficult milestones with slow welfare over time power creep or being braindead carried by your friends who wanted to show you their favourite mmo.

I think they just have different priorities. MH's entire appeal is the combat and the core gameplay loop of kill monster, make gear. XIV is more geared towards the "JRPG with friends" and "second life" crowd.

There are the "deaths" in ARR, SHB, and EW, but then there's also Zenos getting an open hit on her with his sword at the beginning of Stormblood that, considering how strong Zenos is, probably should have unironically cut her in half. And she's fine. Then at the end of SHB, Emet-Selch takes out all the Scions, but apparently he set his magic blaster to "stun mode" because they're literally all ok 10 minutes later.
It's a problem this game has in general. Constant fakeout deaths, there are no stakes because nobody important actually dies. That's why the game is *still* making us remember Haurchefant like a decade after Endwalker, that's the last time somebody the characters gave a crap about actually kicked the bucket.

I hate it. The endgame combat is the worst part of 14 for me. Having to play 7 minutes of a fight over and over just to get to the actual hard part that just ends the fight as soon as one person fricks up, with nothing I personally can do about it, is just endlessly boring to me. Having to watch a 20 minutes guide video, memorizing the encounter and then hoping the 7 other players did the same is just frustrating as frick. And the worst part? Even if I find a group that is really good and smooth I will not remember them much because there is no interplay between people there. Nothing to make people stand out, the best someone can hope for is just doing the mechanics correctly, which equates to being a bot: Don't frick up, don't stand out just get it done.
Not to mention that the game has a huge problem with how long content stays relevant.

Expansion order should've been HW, SB, an expansion on the invasion of Garlemald, EW, and then ShB.
All the Ascian shit in ShB can fit into a Garlemald expansion easily. ShB works better as a standalone expansion.
Garlemald is just not interesting. It's not a coincidence that the two most-praised expansions from a story perspective basically completely ignore that entire plotline. Eulmore managed to be a more interesting villain faction in half an expansion than Garlemald was in literally a decade.
HW should have led into SHB, basically none of the WoL's exploits are really described in detail and the fact that they could have happened at any time between CT and WoL dying means you could have easily just had the two good out of the box expansions back to back
We could have gotten 3 expacs of garlemand falling apart since SB should have been 2 as well with EW being an actual end of the world expansion where you actually have to go everywhere
