Honestly all I can imagine now is the reverse RDM people kept going on about early on. Stay in melee range to build up meter before getting the opportunity for hybrid antics of blowing shit up from afar for a bit, rinse and repeat. It'd be neat to experiment more like, say, a class that has not a timed defense mechanic but instead a counter parry to activate before taking a hit that deals damage back, but this just isn't the sort of game for that.

Teamwork is also achieved through everyone using their own tools (mostly mitigation and healing increase) otherwise no one is gonna get through the raid.
I have played Monster Hunter and it feels exactly the same >move does this attack wdyd >dodge attack repeat

If you could do something like have AST cast Gravity on a bomb to alter it, something like that, you miggt have some point. But you can't do that. You're being obtuse on purpose, and I can tell because Bozja actually does have some proper knowledge checks, teamwork, and resource management and instead you're obsessing over a "stand here or die" mechanic.

First off, Japanese devs don't release code that often as much as the west does. Their copyright system is very different.
Second, XIV now still uses some 1.0 code and it'd be in their best interest to not release that information.

The point of a real knowledge check is that you don't need to know ahead of time. You can see what you're presented with and respond accordingly because you know your job well enough. You can't do that in XIV because it's not a knowledge check, it's a dance routine check.
This is gonna blow your mind but RPGs are about knowing your character and enemy characters and not playing out a dance script where you have to already know to stand at this specific coordinate when the boss starts casting El-wata'shyngtou Delta.
Knowledge checks mean you can’t know until it happens. Like in Tekken knowing RDC is a 2 break if you fail the 1 break is a knowledge check. You just have to know. It checks your knowledge, really self explanatory.
That definition still works for the bomb mechanic though the move is called reversal of forces, you can see it and figure out what to do because it’s a puzzle.

Sometimes harder fights have their own gimmick going on but it's only one at most.

A lot of tanks complained about this exact issue in p8s where the boss just said frick you sometimes and killed tanks even under holm window.
with that said, war invul is nice when it works because it lets healers just ignore 1 or two tbs over the course of the fight since the cd is so short

WAR has problems but that's not it. The problem is when there is nonstop busters because Thrill is such a weak cooldown. Especially bleed busters like in P10S. The only reason WAR gets away with it is because Holm extra usages can nullify some busters.

First off, Japanese devs don't release code that often as much as the west does. Their copyright system is very different.
Second, XIV now still uses some 1.0 code and it'd be in their best interest to not release that information.

The point of a real knowledge check is that you don't need to know ahead of time. You can see what you're presented with and respond accordingly because you know your job well enough. You can't do that in XIV because it's not a knowledge check, it's a dance routine check.

Knowledge checks mean you can’t know until it happens. Like in Tekken knowing RDC is a 2 break if you fail the 1 break is a knowledge check. You just have to know. It checks your knowledge, really self explanatory.
That definition still works for the bomb mechanic though the move is called reversal of forces, you can see it and figure out what to do because it’s a puzzle.

war invul is a point of contempt amongst savage raiders for quite a while since it just outright fails to mitigate certain busters
A lot of tanks complained about this exact issue in p8s where the boss just said frick you sometimes and killed tanks even under holm window.
with that said, war invul is nice when it works because it lets healers just ignore 1 or two tbs over the course of the fight since the cd is so short

WAR has problems but that's not it. The problem is when there is nonstop busters because Thrill is such a weak cooldown. Especially bleed busters like in P10S. The only reason WAR gets away with it is because Holm extra usages can nullify some busters.
