A whimsical proper adventure to somewhere new with little to no baggage from prior expansions. Just the WoL and their companions exploring and solving a problem contained to the new region/contient, like Heavensward. Big focus on content like bozja, sorrows of werlyt, and variant/criterion dungeons. Lots of side stories to flesh out the new contient/region with proper rewards at the end. 2 minute meta is abandoned in favour of a more unique unique thing for each job, focused on their main toys.
What I expect is probably a meandering and plot hole riddled story with baggage both good and bad, as well as further homogenisation. Also, even less side content than usual, more recoloured gear sets than normal, and no real innovation or new ideas in any area of the game.

secondary issue: if you add an ilevel cap to max level content, it will further reduce the 'value' of current high level gear. as it currently stands, you can only use your current gear unsynced (and materia):

XIV won't be an escape from that behavior. Just about any relevant multiplayer game with character customization has been overrun with these types. Yes, that includes shit like Monster Hunter and the new Street Fighter.

The main story has to be soloable or they're locking out solo players from progression. It's not a difficult concept to understand. If every big dungeon and trial set piece is part of the main story then saying "groups only" in those moments costs them subs. Shadowbringers and the Trust system was massive for them, they did okay blindly copying WoW for years but ShB opened the floodgates with new customers.

"Soul" lol, despite being one of the most important story arcs in the whole game most players don't even see because it's kept off the roulettes and you have to manually find a group like a caveman. Too much jank, too many filler stages for 5 minutes of actual story and maybe 4 good fights.
Make each Coil a standardised dungeon with a good final boss using the existing assets and it'll be some of the best content in the game. Right now it's a waste of material and setup.

Coils fights suck. Twintania and Nael are only two that are challenging and it's because of buggy snapshotting and half-baked mechanics like twister and removing elemental effects from adds in last Nael phase. There's a reason UCOB largely scrapped the series save for Megaflare.

Yes. Bozja raids were unironically more soulful and interactive than any normal raid series they've given us. It was nice seeing people communicate and make jokes.
And this is who defends Bozja, someone that promotes bloated fights with mind-numbing mechanics with the ever meaningless word "soul." The only sense I can make of it is that the cries for Bozja were from bugmen that wanted yet another carrot attached to a braindead grind, same reason why people shit their pants when the Mandeville weapons were just a tome grind, as if the weapon grinds having a different flavor of monotony somehow makes it less of a chore. Bozja was quite possibly the least inspired shit to come out of Yoshi's team and thank frick they fired the lead designer and torched his storylines so we don't have to see it rehashed.

Think something more up close using Merlwybs dual pistols/shotguns/muskets. Instead of tools and robots, all their skills are based around what shells you load in combination to get different effects, like the NIN's Mudras.

The game is a fun solo story with MMO sidebits. If you're looking for MMO feeling integrated with leveling then this isn't the game for you. Healers are in a place right now where a lot of people aren't happy with their design. If you play the fights "correctly" then players can mitigate most incoming damage which means the majority of time a Healer is either reapplying their one DoT or spam-casting their one single target DPS spell. I main one of the healer jobs and, while I enjoy Scholar, I cannot argue that spamming 1 spell for 80% of a fight does not get tiring.
That said, healers are unironically at their most fight in low-mid/mid level groups doing non-static content because people can mess up dodging a mechanic and not be insta-killed (like on a harder difficulty) so it gives you someone to heal.
Only the JP team was punished and only because it became national news and only because one of the members was kicked out in typical Japanese fashion and blacklisted, so his retaliation sparked it all. They weren't even banned, just suspended and had to delete the weapons. SE is the most lax company when it comes to enforcing rules, so much so you're throwing by not using add-ons while raiding.
I used to think similarly and look down at raiders who cheated, but cheating gets results. I wouldn't be a pentalegend with week 1 clears if I didn't start cheating in EW, clearing content is all that matters in the end, no one cares it you did it legit or not. Better yet, everyone assumes e eryone else is cheating so it looks even worse if you perform mediocre or poorly.
Those aren't mutually exclusive. You're only as strong as your weakest link in raids. I guess you could argue networking into a good group is a skill, but most of those are also sloth rotation, cactbot, splatoon, zoom, etc users as well and they expect you to use them as well to not lag behind.

A whimsical proper adventure to somewhere new with little to no baggage from prior expansions. Just the WoL and their companions exploring and solving a problem contained to the new region/contient, like Heavensward. Big focus on content like bozja, sorrows of werlyt, and variant/criterion dungeons. Lots of side stories to flesh out the new contient/region with proper rewards at the end. 2 minute meta is abandoned in favour of a more unique unique thing for each job, focused on their main toys.
What I expect is probably a meandering and plot hole riddled story with baggage both good and bad, as well as further homogenisation. Also, even less side content than usual, more recoloured gear sets than normal, and no real innovation or new ideas in any area of the game.

XIV is mote popular than ever and is holding consistently high player counts while in content drought, something SHB could not do despite it's praise as the best expansion. It seems you're in the wrong because the game has never done better in it's life.

The main story has to be soloable or they're locking out solo players from progression. It's not a difficult concept to understand. If every big dungeon and trial set piece is part of the main story then saying "groups only" in those moments costs them subs. Shadowbringers and the Trust system was massive for them, they did okay blindly copying WoW for years but ShB opened the floodgates with new customers.

"Soul" lol, despite being one of the most important story arcs in the whole game most players don't even see because it's kept off the roulettes and you have to manually find a group like a caveman. Too much jank, too many filler stages for 5 minutes of actual story and maybe 4 good fights.
Make each Coil a standardised dungeon with a good final boss using the existing assets and it'll be some of the best content in the game. Right now it's a waste of material and setup.

The boss fights were at least somewhat challenging along with the raids.

Yes. Bozja raids were unironically more soulful and interactive than any normal raid series they've given us. It was nice seeing people communicate and make jokes.

I also think it has a decent chance of happening. Because it’s a split off pointless timeline the only reason to do it would be because saving people is cool. It would have no actual effect on the story and is perfect for side content. It also goes up the relic quests since you can bullshit some excuse about a paradox being strong or something. Like you can’t tell me “Paradox Weapon” doesn’t sound like a relic questline. It’s also easy nostalgia points.

The game is a fun solo story with MMO sidebits. If you're looking for MMO feeling integrated with leveling then this isn't the game for you. Healers are in a place right now where a lot of people aren't happy with their design. If you play the fights "correctly" then players can mitigate most incoming damage which means the majority of time a Healer is either reapplying their one DoT or spam-casting their one single target DPS spell. I main one of the healer jobs and, while I enjoy Scholar, I cannot argue that spamming 1 spell for 80% of a fight does not get tiring.
That said, healers are unironically at their most fight in low-mid/mid level groups doing non-static content because people can mess up dodging a mechanic and not be insta-killed (like on a harder difficulty) so it gives you someone to heal.

Those aren't mutually exclusive. You're only as strong as your weakest link in raids. I guess you could argue networking into a good group is a skill, but most of those are also sloth rotation, cactbot, splatoon, zoom, etc users as well and they expect you to use them as well to not lag behind.
